Clothes Upon Arrival When Artemus 'shipwrecks' on the island, he'll be wearing a dark blue sport coat with dark blue jeans, which are ripped up in a few places. He'll have a white collared shirt underneath that (his Braille 'tags' were probably confused with his black collared shirt). He'll have on a black belt with his ebony cane stuck through it. He'll be wearing black dress shoes with (unseen) black socks.

He also has on a Braille watch. He'll probably have his sunglasses sticking out of his pocket, if his 'picture' happens immediately after he's 'rescued'. If not, he'll be wearing them. Also, if it's not immediately after, the cane will be out too. His body will have recent scratches and bruises. He has an old scar across his nose that's level with where his pupils would be, normally covered by the sunglasses.

History
Artemus was born blind to an Irish woman and a half-German-half-Greek man, along with his brother, Theodore. His brother, younger technically by a day, but really only 5 minutes, and him were very close. Family was important to their everyday lives and it was rare to go one week without seeing a relative.

Artemus' blindness never truly bothered him. He was a bright lad and able to figure out through his other senses what the world around him 'looked' like. His brother was helpful as a 'guide dog' whenever he needed one. THe fact that he was named after the Greek goddess of the moon was not lost on him and when he asked his father, the response was 'Well, your mother said when you were born, your eyes looked like how she imagined the moon. We couldn't name you Moon so we took the next best thing'.

When he and Theo were seven, their parents, Aoife and Matthias, had another child, named Erica. Erica wasn't that big of a change to he and Theo, except for the fact she was rather odd and squishy looking/feeling.

He, unsurprisingly, grew older and was still theoretically attached to Theo as the elbow, despite that fact it was firmly decided he was attracted to other men. Theo didn't care nor mind and they grew closer because of the differences.

When Theo expressed an interest in law school, Arti thought about it and it appealed to him. They joined law school together and planned on making a firm together. Arti was a deeper thinker so it was decided he would take on the hard cases (meaning harder to prove the point and make the jury happy) while Theo took on the cases that were relatively easy. So the twins admissioned and made it into Yale.

They graduated and passed their bar test at the age of 22 and both were quickly hired into a large firm. He had short term relationships and his brother's were even shorter, though more numerous.



When he was 26, he was chosen to defend a man named Crevan Moore. Crevan was accused of sexual harassment of one of his male co-workers. Crevan, in reality, had only been flirting with him at a party, but the co-worker was offended and made a big deal of it. Crevan said that. Artemus eventually proved Crevan innocent.

The pair of them found they liked each other enough to become friends. They were friends for about a year and discovered they really like each other. Mostly, Artemus liked how Crevan thought. So, Areimus, being cautious at relationships that had the possibility of becoming permanent, went out of a limb and flirted with Crevan. Crevan seemed shocked so Artemus was sure to act completely straight until Crevan flirted back. He responded with childlike enthusiasm.

The flirting continued for a bit before Crevan edged out on the limb. At an ice cream parlor, Artemus had a bit of whipped cream on his lips. Crevan gave him a peck on the lips to 'clean' it off. It was a long while before the relationship finally got 'serious', meaning sex.

At the age of 28, Artemus and Theo got their own firm. There was trouble in paradise, however, a year later. Artemus' relationship with Crevan was beginning to seem long term and Theo didn't think Crevan was steady enough for Artemus. The twins had an argument about it. It was determined that Artemus was long overdue for a vacation and Crevan decided to supply it. A trip to a 'resort' on a 'Pacific island'.


How he'd get to the island:
Most people on the island see an already changed person before they themselves change. By that time, they are normally convinced of what's going to happen before it actually does. So Moreau wanted to try an experiment. What if they couldn't see a Changed person before they change? What if they can't see what they're changing into? How would they react?

So, why not Change a blind human?

As luck would have it, Artemus was nearby. He was on a cruise that was around 20 miles from the island, thanks to his lover giving him a vacation from his workaholic behavior so very recently. It would be ever so simple for Moreau to have (or get) one of his contacts (or their lackeys) on the ship, dump the poor man over the side when he's asleep (onto a broken wood pole that looks like it came from the ship), then have him be 'rescued' a few hours afterward.
