Many people have different opinions on who Cloud is but this is what is revealed if you unlock all the secret clips in the game. Hojo was scientist experimenting with mako and Jenova cells to make the ultimate soldier his first experiment was Vincent the first soldier exposed to it. After this Vincent locks himself in the mansion basement seeing that he is no longer human. Hojo then marries Sephiroths mother ( don't remember her name right now) when she's pregnant ( with Sephiroth) he injects her with the mako/Jenova chemicals which creates the ultimate soldier Sephiroth. In Hojos quest to create more ultimate soldiers he creates the creepy guys you see in the game with numbers they obey Sephiroth because they are like minions that owe gratitude to their master Cloud was a failed experiment nothing like Sephiroth but the truth was he was stronger. Zack Tifa's best friend is a soldier who was working with Sephiroth (he and Cloud were secretly best friends;Cloud sucked as a soldier) when Sephiroth discovers that he is actually very much like a fiend filled with Jenova cells he goes mad taking out both Zack and Tifa on his way out he takes out Cloud too but that is when Cloud and he become connected two halves meet. Whent the experiment was done too Cloud he became for some reason Sephiroths darkside ( yet he's the good guy brain buster) Cloud beats Sephiroth some how revives Tifa and Zack but no one remembered. Shinra took Zack and Cloud for more experimenting when they escaped Zack was shot to death while Cloud was left on the ground (he was a waste of time) because of the experimenting Cloud couldn't remember anything when he met Tifa she decided to use him as a replacement for Zack by telling him stories of Zack's past (but making Cloud think he was him) Cloud eventually finds out everybody fights

Wow...where do I begin?

1. Hojo and Gast were the ones to begin the Jenova Project. Hojo didn't actually begin to use Reactor 12 as the Mako infusing Soldier plot thingy until after Sephiroth was born and a success. He wanted to create another perfect Soldier with the power that Sephiroth had, not necessarily to create another Sephiroth.

2. Vincent was never a Soldier, he was a Turk. And Hojo didn't do anything Mako related with him. [DoC]Spoilers.

3. Hojo never marries Lucrecia [that is Sephiroth's mother].

4. The Failed Sephiroth clones you find throughout the game are Hojo's Failed Experiments that failed to achieve the power and strength that Sephiroth had, now since he had gone missin...

5. Zack and Tifa had only met once and that was the day that Zack,Tifa, and Sephiroth all went to investigate that Nibelheim Reactor.

6. Cloud never made it into Soldier.

7. No Sephiroth doesnt go mad, he goes to the Shinra Mansion and learns about his origins by Gast's Project Notes. Then he burns down Nibelheim and goes to the Reactor to meet Jenova [his "mother].

8. Sephiroth and Cloud had different procedures done to them, they never had the same experiment performed on them. Cloud and Sephiroth really never were friends. It was Zack that was Sephiroth's friend. Cloud merely copied that thought as his own.

9. No one remembered, because A. It was such a horrid experience Tifa blocked it out of her memory. B. No one remembered as in the ppl in Nibelheim? That's because they're there because Shinra hired them to act like the Nibelheim Incident never happened.

10. Zangan, Tifa's Master saved her from the Reactor and took her to a doctor in Midgar. And Hojo took both Zack and Cloud down into the Shinra Mansion basement and placed them in Mako Pods.

11. No Cloud gets in that messed up way of his because on the way to Midgar Zack told him all about his adventures and Cloud was a giant sponge absorbing all that information, when Zack dies Cloud takes on his personallity.

12. When Cloud and Tifa meet up again in Midgar, Cloud recognizes her from Zack's Memories, thats where Tifa starts talking about Cloud from Nibelheim where they grew up. Tifa only met Zack once, Tifa reminds Cloud of HIS Past not Zacks.

Yes..That is shortly after Zack's death.

Cloud recognizes Tifa, either by his own childhood memories or by Zacks.
Tifa then begins to remind him all about their childhood etc etc, all the while Zack's memories about Soldier and all that take up Cloud's persona.
