I know this topic ticks me off.

Does it ever annoy you when your favorite book (series or otherwise) gets sold out and turned into a movie? Movies always leave so much of the book out. Like the Harry Potter movies. I gag everytime I'm forced to go with my siblings to see those pieces of $h1t. Especially when key points to the plot are gutted and thrown out the window.

What about you?

The movies always seem to be leaving out at least one major point of the books, it's just because they have to shorten it and whatnot. I'd rather stick to reading the books, because they have more details than an hour long movie.

But that's another thing, if people were to make a movie excatly like the books, then it would be WAY too damn long. So I guess they just go with what they have.

I maybe read two books since I could read that haven't been turned into movies.
Movies are different from the books so it really doesn't make people understand the book more than the movie.

That's why I always read the book first then see the movie. The movie makes sense and you understand more. Besides, most movies that are coming out are either books or remakes of movies. Where is all of the creativity?

luv your siggy about utada. can you make me one?

umm really I hate when they leave out parts in the movie that make a big deal in books. But the harry potter ones I watch bc I want to see how they did all the effects that match up with the books.

Usually they make good movies, just not good in relation to the book. No matter what they're going to have to leave something out and disapoint someone, otherwise the movie would be really really long. Cuts have to be made, and I understand that, I hate it most when they mess up details. Or use characters of the wrong ethnicity and think they can get away with it, but it's difficult to find actors who can play the characters well enough and live up to everyone's idea of the character. I feel sorry for these people who have to decide what gets into the movie and find people, it must be awful to make these kinds of decisions if they care about the book.

They are all right as long as it follows some parts of the original plotline.

Usually I know it was based off a book but I haven't read it. But some of them that I have read the book to weren't that bad. I can't think of any off the top of my heard but I know there were some. XD

I like the Harry Potter movies (probably because i am obssessed with them). I think the first and second movies are the closest to the books. I hate Michael Gambon (the new dumbledore) he's the worst dumbledore actor EVER!
Anyway, where was i?...oh yes. I like the movies, but i have this habit of .picking the movie out to the very last detail.
The best movie/book i ever saw was Memoirs of a Geisha! what a beautiful movie and the book...what detail and beauty! heart

They're alright. You just have to expect it to be different from the book. I know I can't wait to see what they do with The Last Unicorn when it finally comes out! It's nice when they stay somewhat close to the book's plot instead of just taking an idea from a book and saying they made it into a movie.

I hate them alot of the times, but I go to see them and give them a chance anyway. The third Harry Potter movie.....TERRIBLE. I nearly cried when I saw it- they messed it up so bad!

But the Lord of the Rings movies, on the other hand, were awesome. I liked them better than the books, actually (because they can take out all of Tolkein's random rambles about the families). they actually did those movies WELL.

I love the LOTR books and the movies!
The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe just ruined it for me though. I read the book and saw the movie. The worst part was that people who didn't read the books but saw the movie thought it was really stupid and whenever I would talk about it people would say stuff like "Oh that movie sucked" and I would get annoyed because they didn't even read the books.
