I think they messed up alot, areis was to calm, in the game she was a bit more hyperactive and cloud was less moody... and cid was less of a crochety old man...I was really annoyed when I played the game.

I think they more of played on everyone's cuter side! Yuffie's more hyper than she was in the game, Tifa's more of a go-get-'em girl, Aeris is really gentle and sweet and Cloud's . . . just confused.

im pretty sure they may have gotten permission to use the cg's but they had to make them as much like the characters as they thought they probably really didn't have enough time to bring out the actuality in the character though.....

To be honest I don't think they did a good job on the FF7 characters for KH. stare They just made them to.....diffrent then they way they're suppose to be...that's what I think.

nah... i dont think kingdom hearts portrayed them well. clouds clothes were good in KHII, but sephiroths clothes bothered me SOOO much... and the thing about sephiroth being the darkness in clouds heart wasnt good at portraying the FFVII Storyline, but it worked out with the KHII storyline i guess. overall, i think KHII portrayed the FFVII characters badly. i personally wasnt very happy with it xp

I think that they did better on some than others, like I think that they did pretty good on cloud and tifa, but sephiroth woul not let anyone come that close to him and get away with it..........

They did ok. But, it was under Square Enix's supervision, and they thought it was good.

I thought they did alright in the first kingdom hearts, but the second was was horrific. I mean, Cloud was like overly emo...DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON SEPHIROTH!?! scream WHY THE HELL DID HE HAVE WINGS GROWING OUT OF HIS KNEES.
ahem..yeah >_> Tifa seemed in character enough, Aeris' voice actrice was terrible, Cid's just creeped me out. And uh...Yuffie's the only character they did a decent job on. I'm so SO happy that Vincent was NOT in that game, they ruined sephiroth for me, they better not even think about putting vincent in the KH3 if they decide to make it.
Overall, the dialogue just seemed really REALLY corny, as if Disney wrote it and not Square...that's the impression I got. stressed

One problem was when you battled people like Cloud and Leon (when you first meet Leon in KH1 and he fights Sora) were just too easy. Cloud's Omnislash looked pretty cool but was easily evaded and Leon's moves were too predictable. The only type of FF7 character they did good in it was Sephiroth (in KH1) where he was pretty hard,even at level 100 for some people.

You all seem to forget one thing: They are IN A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT WORLD.
They do not come from the original Final Fantasy worlds. I mean if they were to have the exact same personalities, then you'd be fighting Sephiroth at the end 'cause he's gone and summoned meteor to destroy everything and become a supreme God and ruler.
Everyone had to be toned down to fit into the kind-of childish theme. And the Final Fantasy character are NOT the main character of Kingdom Hearts. The main characters of KH is the ones who actually have something to do with the story(In KH1 the FF gang in Traverse Town were main characters, and they helped you out, and so are they in KH2, in ways or another).
And think about it, if they were as strong as in their original games, Sora would've been dead by now(Seeing as he didn't have all that much experience when he first entered the different worlds). Especially when he fought Cloud.
The outfits are okay. Though one I do agree about is Sephiroth's in KH2. I don't get the legwings part.
You guys need to stop bitching and realize the fact that these people are not the same people who were in their original games. They did not live the same life, they do not have the same memories, they do not have the same relationships, they are different, and that's that. So one cannot just compare them to the originals. Two different people = two different personalities.
End of the line.
(And do bare with me, I have not played KH2 as it has yet to be released in Europe. But I do know my fair share.)

I always thought Cloud should have opened up in KH2 but he didn't. Instead Squall ended up looking after Sora like a bigger brother, when Cloud supposedly has a soft spot for children (as seen in Advent Children and even FF7 when Marlene gets kidnapped). So I was disappointed when Cloud wound up being moody and, dare I say it? Incredibly boring.
Same goes for Aeris. I hated her whispy voice. Aeris is supposed to be a fun, energetic character. Yuffie was cute ... almost too cute but I enjoyed her presence. She should have been a little tougher though. Whats with Cid being a hick and not swearing or smoking? Not everyone needs to be a clean cut role model ... especially when its not in their nature. Kids need to realize there's all kinds of people out there anyway.
What dissapointed me most about KH and AC versions of FF7 characters was they never did trademark moves. Cloud always shrugged, Aeris giggled alot, Yuffie punched the air, Cid lit his cigs, Sephiroth laughed evilly ... maniacally. What's with his girly AC lips? ARGH!!! domokun
