Coronaviridae The intrusion of an imp into the little house's garden didn't precisely go unnoticed, but nor was it paid much heed by the man sitting out on the stoop. Nexeu's eyes flicked over toward where the imp was, lingering there briefly... Before he looked away again, and with that fortuitous sort of timing of his he got up off the steps and headed out into the garden. That left the front door unguarded, but if that would not do, there was a nice little window that (usually) looked in on the kitchen with a flowerbox in easy reach. While the window was closed, it wasn't latched, and shouldn't've been hard to prise open with a little ingenuity. Half-way toward the ivy-infested gate of the garden, the mage stooped to collect something bright and shining off the ground--probably a pretty stone, from the looks of it. After a moment's inspection he hunkered down on his heels to examine it, eyes clouded with thought. If ever there were a time to get inside the house, now would be it. At first, Nexeu Preston thought the stone to be a red spinel of unusual proportions. It was nearly as long as his hand, and the color of a good fiery ruby. But how one of those had gotten into his garden, usually untouched by human hands (none of his family was human, after all) beggared the ordinary imagination and even the mage was a little troubled by it. It had the same snarled out-of-time knots around it that Haurvatat did, and the Disgrace was trouble all on his own without adding another problem to the mix. Worse was the faint sense of melancholy that came from, and the blood-heat the thing gave off as it lay quiescent in his palm.
