What is the differnce I have been thinking of downloading fire fox but I'm not really sure what it does. sweatdrop Does it help with CSS or somthing? Becuase it seems to be mentioned a lot in relation with building a profile.

Edit: I wasnt sure weather this should go in the spam forum or not. sweatdrop

Firefox is a browser just like IE, only better. Firefox is safer and as far as rendering code goes, it's more accurate. The next version of IE that's coming out is supposed to be standards compliant, but for now Firefox is better.

Also, Firefox is customizable. You can download extensions and themes. To that end, yes, Firefox does help with CSS, because there are many, many extensions that let you edit HTML and CSS straight from Firefox, as well as tools that just enhance coding. For example, I have an extension called Colorzilla that lets me get the hex code for any color from anywhere in the window of my browser.

It also uses tabs, so that instead of having three or four windows open, you have only one with three or four tabs open.

Obviously, I like Firefox, so I say get it. At the very least, you can always try it out and then if you don't like it, you can just uninstall it.

(I'm sure here's fine. It is coding related.)

Sorry for the slow reply. I meant to get this to you the other day, but Gaia wouldn't let me into any threads.

Here: http://www.mozilla.com/

That's the main page (Mozilla is who makes Firefox.).
Extensions can be found here: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/extensions/
Themes can be found here: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/themes/

Test in BOTH browser. I can't possibly stress this enough.

IE can't handle partial transparency or the box model.

Well, I have IE tab installed on my version of firefox so that I can look at the CSS in both browsers, which makes life a lot easier. Not to mention tthat firefox is just easier to customize.

And there's also the IE View (and an Opera one, too) extension. 3nodding There are so many extensions that come in handy.

Also, if Firefox won't work (like on my computer) try Mozilla Suite, the browser I'm using. Its by the same developer.

One of the reasons that Firefox is liked better than IE by coders and designers is because IE has a lot of "coding mistake allowances" that Firefox (and other browsers) just doesn't stand for.

I'm sure you've come across many profiles that say "IE only, looks like crap in Firefox!", right? That's because they simply are using poor coding practices that look good in the leniant IE but like mangled s**t in Firefox.

Mind you, it isn't just Firefox. The reason that many people despise IE isn't because they are fierce Firefox loyalists... but because IE coding just doesn't line up with CORRECT coding. So if your site looks bad in Firefox, it will look bad in other browsers like Safari and Opera! IE promotes poor coding (example: coloured scrollbars are IE only and aren't even considered VALID CODE by w3!).

I prefer Firefox because of it's simple interface, array of extensions and tabs. I have Opera too, but it's slower on my computer.

So in a way, yes, getting Firefox will help you improve your coding, getting you to code better and smarter to make your page look good. Besides, IE 7 (the new version of IE) corrects many of its coding errors, so your coding will turn to shite anyway when it becomes the standard stable version. Why not get a jump on correcting it?

IE can handle partial transparency, it just isn't the same code as Firefox.
What it can't handle is transparency in images.

I really like the new IE, I think it the 7.2 Beta. Much better than FF.

I disagree.
I still see color problems with IE7, though they DID fix a lot of the CSS problems.
Also, I feel that IE7 looks bulky because they tried to incorporate the tabs, but they made them too 3D and too thick, and just don't like the way it looks.
And I believe they're up to 7.3 now.

I used to use IE, MyIE2, and some other browsers but not one was to my likeing. FireFox on the other hand is VERY user-friendly and easy to use as well as being very customizable so I like it even more. mrgreen
