Well you all know Diru's coming to Canada... in Toronto, right? With KoRn. I want to go, seeing as how I live in Toronto. It's like.. God answered my dreams.
(I had a dream last night that I was getting into a Diru concert, but then this German kid said "You not cooking!" and I got mad and beat him up. mad But we were both hospitalized in the process. So I didn't get to go crying But I did get a sweet blue t-shirt that said "Dir en grey" on it.)

Anyways... my parents won't let me go.
- The mosh pit will probably be dangerous.
- Though DEG has "Taiyou no Ao" and "Ain't Afraid to Die", they also have "-ZAN-" and "CLEVER SLEAZOID". In other words, since it's an angry concert(with KoRn there and all), they're more likely to play their angry songs.
- They wear make-up and they scream. Very... abnormal?
- Costs. It's probably going to be a lot, especially since KoRn's around.

My dad says, "If you know what's good, you won't go to this concert."
My mom says, "I don't want you getting hurt in the moshpit!"

I don't really think my mother is being as stubborn on this as my dad is. He just doesn't like Diru, so he's not letting me go. My mom is concered for my safety, though.

I want to go to this concert! What are some things I can say to persuade my parents?

NOTE: I'm 14. My parents are about 45.

hm...i dunno what you should do.

you should persuade your dad that all bands are different. the makeup isn't that weird anymore. also, just cause they dress like that, it doesn't mean you will
promise to your mother that you WON"T join the moshpit. whether you wanna join once you get there is up to you.

Parents are not easily swayed, especially in matters like this. Do your parents know what they sound like? If not, then perhaps you should listen to their...less angry songs for a while in front of them.

Tell your dad they don't really wear makeup anymore. Because it's true.

Tell your mother not all people get trampled and hospitalized and/or killed in mosh pits.

Oh yeah, and I thought the tickets were going to be relatively cheap. *shrug* I don't know.

You should lie and tell them you're going to a friends house and then hope you don't get caught.

-Well Dir en grey really doesn't wear as mucj make-up as they used too, no more then most rock bands out there.
-The screaming is just a style of music. Korn is not a bad band either. They won't start stipping on stage or anything, just have loud songs.
-The best way to not get hurt moshing is to not do it!

Maybe your parents just don't think you're old enough to go to that kind of concert. I dunno. Try tellthem it's not as bad as they think it will be.

They don't wear as much make-up, huh. I didn't know that... but my dad would still not be persuaded by that.

My sister said that at a concert like that, the whole place would be a moshpit. Then again, she was probably exaggerating. (My sister's an ultimate super screamo band lover who goes to a bunch of concerts, which I find unfair 'cause I can't go to this one.)

This concert is a once-in-a-lifetime oppurtunity sort of thing, unless Diru sways America with the stuff that they're starting here.

Also: I'm not about to lie. If I got caught, I'd be super-dead. My parents followed my sister(not the super-rocker one) last time she went somewhere... well, my dad did. I'm not going to lie about it.

Ya, Dir en grey is alot more toned down in appearance(Make-up) now, at least from what they used to be.

Tickets are gonna be around $10.
Family Values Tour cheap.

Umm, I suggest you find a video of
a Diru [ or Korn, if that's what they are worried most about ]
show it to them
and then show them a moshpit from a Slayer or a Norwegian metal concert.
I'm sorry, but those pits that're gonna be at Diru
cannot compare
to that of any awesome death metal band.

Find a friend who's going
and just ditch home and go with.
And because you live in the city they are playing
makes it easier to go and get back.

You can just say you're spending the night at a friends.
You don't exactly have to tell them what you're doing.

Sweet, ten bucks.

And I sorta lied... I live like, an hour away from the place that they're playing at. I can't walk there or anything, I'd need a ride of any sort, and a car with a parent driving is the best idea.

Wait, doesn't that mean they're not Visual-Kei anymore? I heard somewhere that they stopped being a VK band, but I didn't know they stopped wearing make-up, too. rolleyes

They haven't been Visual for a couple years now.

Ok, here's the deal.

Dir en grey doesn't usually allow moshing, but there's really no way that they can stop it at this venue, because it's set up like Warped Tour. The thing is, mosh pits aren't as bad as everyone thinks. You'll probably end up on the edge of one, but that's not bad. All you have to do is push the people moshing into the center of the pit and away from you. Trust me. I don't mosh, but I ALWAYS end up on the edge.

Plus, people in moshes are smart. If one person falls, someone is ALWAYS right there to pick them up. They don't want people to get crushed, so everyone kind of looks out for each other. The only way you're going to get hurt is if you aren't paying attention and someone crowd surfs over your head and they weigh 300 pounds and they kick you, but usually that doesn't happen...or if you start a fight with someone, which I trust you won't.

Another thing is, is that the Korn crowd is very different from your sister's 'screamo' scene. Metal kids are more interested in headbanging than moshing. It's more of the so called "punk" (real punk doesn't exist anymore) that are the moshers. The Diru crowd's injuries result more from headbanging for the entire concert (like me. My neck hurt soooo bad after the Wiltern show) than moshing or crowdsurfing.

The sound of their music is their expression. You could have a point if your sister listens to screamo that her bands are a lot more pointless and 'screamy' than Diru. At least Kyo actually sings. Let them listen to some of their older songs that are happier (such as Yurameki) or softer (like Embryo). Dir en grey has a great variety that includes a whole lot of different styles of music. Especially have them listen to THE FINAL, since that's one that they perform now (they don't perform the songs from their Visual days anymore) so that they can get an idea of what they're really like.

The only way I can see you going is if you convice them...so...ya... In all likely hood, you won't get hurt. I went to Warped as as 16 year old, and there were 14 year olds and younger there, and I only saw one person that got hurt, and that was from them picking a fight.

(I swear, concerts have such a bad rap)
Wow...that was a loooooong post xP

Long yet ultimately super amazingly helpful. Thanks a lot, I'll use this thread to try to persuade my parents to let me go.

My dad will use the fact that Iyami spelt "rep" wrong against me and say, "These people can't spell and you believe them!?"
Then again, he'll also say, "These people listen to Dir en grey. That means they're stupid. And you believe them?"

He's biased like that. mad

Yeah. rolleyes Come to think of it... in the "Beautiful Dirt" and the "Jesus Christ R'n R" lives, there's no make-up. Just shirtless-ness.
