"Ah yes, here I am in my never ending quest to bring a little bit of culture to the masses, so I took it upon myself to delve into the topic of books here in the Guild. Find out those who enjoy them what their likes are, favorite genres, authors, that whole lot, and maybe even how you enjoy reading a good book."
Okay end the IC Emma Frost. This is now me talking so I thought I might kick off a list of my favorite authors and the works that I've most enjoyed by them.
My favorite genre of books has always been the fantasy line. I never really cared for anything else. I always loved reading but I never truly got a passion for it until I doscovered the author, Carol Berg. I was browsing the fantasy section at waldenbooks and did you ever see a cover that captured your attention so you pull it, read the back and think,"Oh hey this looks interesting." and buy it? That's how I discovered Ms. Berg.
The book was called Revelation. I finished it in two days and discovered it was the second in a trilogy. I went out that Monday and bought the opener, Transformation, and the trilogy finale, Restoration.
I fell in love with this trilogy and the characters within. They truly stood out and it's like you can feel the emotions of what the author dreamed up. They are just that damn good! I swear I rated it higher than LOTR and I wish desperately that some screen writer would get hold of this trilogy and create something for it. PETER JACKSON! Where are you!?
After this, I have faithfully collected every novel that Carol has written, including (in order);
Song of the Beast
The Bridge of D'Arnath series:
Son of Avonar
Guardians of the Keep
The Soul Weaver
Daughter of Ancients
All excellent books! I highly reccomend each and every one!
Other authors and titles that I have read and enjoyed;
Glenn Cook;
Tyranny of the Night
Anne Bishop;
House of Gaia series;
Pillars of the World
Shadows and Light
House of Gaian
And her newest title:
Sebastian
Terry Goodkind;
Wizard's First Rule
Stone of Tears (in the process of reading)
There is nothing better than to soak in a hot tub by candlelight with a good book!
How about y'all?
