Hey, I posted this poll to see who thinks we should be posting combat turns in initiative order.

I thought I'd give my reasons for NOT having turns posted in initiative order. Since people are going to be online at different times of the day, we thought it would be best if you could just take your turn when you are on. Having to wait for the other players to post turns in initiative order would slow the game down considerably, since you could come on one day from 5pm to 10pm, a not see the player before you take a turn, because he isn't on until 3 AM... and you end up waiting an extra day to take your turn. I am also on at odd times, but usually it's late at night here.

I am working on making it so you can get a better idea of what happens in intiative order, but it'll make the posts a bit longer.

Also, for some important combats I am thinking of requiring turns to be taken in initiative order.

But, this is OUR campaign. So I think we should discuss any issues you guys might have with this. I am willing to change the way combat turns are posted if you guys think it's better.

I think the restrictive order of inititiative roll is harder to accomplish in a forum based rp because sometimes it can take days for one of the people to post

I agree. After all is said and done, I think waiting and posting in initiative order does make things harder. It would be nice to know what the guy before you did before you make an action, but forum RPing like this is already slower than normal. Making everyone have to wait till their turn in initiative to post would just make it that much slower.

Me too. Waiting to long stings, I like the system we have now, just posting and then going to do your thing. I like the combat system lots!

I'd just like to thank whoever voted Yes and didn't post a reason.... It is very useful to not know why you would like it to change, or your opinions.. or anything sad

I'm for it, because it's less of a constrant on time yes, but I'm wondering.

Does that mean that the iniative retoactively affects who acts?

Yes, but it's really simple to work out.

If you post an attack on a specific target, and a player who's initiative is higher posts after you, killing the target you had specified, we made a little rule to deal with it.. I will decide if there is another target in range for you to direct your attack at and let you know. If there is no other target to attack then the other player was just faster, and got there 1st.

I have posted a little note on how combat works in a forum game here.
Or you could just read through a bit of a combat in my FR campaign.
