Well I'm about to dye my bangs green to go with my peasant outfit for a trip to an art musuem tomorrow. (vocational school feild trip, we're leaving at 6:45 a.m. getting back at 5:30 p.m.) Now I would never spend the money on brand hair dye but I've had the dye for years and I hate to waste it.
I don't see a problem with hair dye, but do you guys think it's too unatural? I'm not sure if the most of it is non-toxic but I would guess they make some.
Have any of you died your hair for fun or to express yourself like this?

I thought being a hippie was about being yourself.

Well yes but it's also about being one with nature.

Well, for me, being in touch with nature doesn't necessarily mean an outright rejection of certain activities. Ask yourself if it's going to hurt the environment too much, and if any possible health risks are acceptable to you. (I mean, hippies also use LSD, which isn't natural at all!) Most of all, I think that being a hippie is about self-discovery-the "natural" thing has to do with the ralization of yourself as a part of nature.
So, if you want to dye your hair, dye it and don't worry. (You may want to look for a brand not tested on animals, though. Just my own personal bias, wink )

Go for it. I've been wanting to dye my hair for a while now, but my parents say they'll disown me if I do. x.x Guess I'll have to wait till college.

There are some natural hair dyes. If you want red hair, use henna. I don't know any for green hair though. If you want to dye your hair, do it. It's your choice. I'd use a brand that's not animal tested.

did you dye your hair?
henna's a good natural alt to the chemically laden, beauty industry stuff. look online for some good info and ideas on what color your hair might turn out to be. its fun but messy to do!

If you see something wrong with it, there's something wrong with it. If you see nothing wrong with it, there's nothing wrong with it.
Go with what you feel, not what others think 3nodding

I'd say do it. being a hippie is a form of self expression, and if you think that having green hair would help you express yourself better, definately go for it 3nodding

I know the dye at Hot Topic is non-toxic and non-animal tested. It's also kind of expensive though, and I kind of doubt that it's 'natural'.

If you want to do it, then do it. It's your choice. You'll probably want to pick up a brand not tested on animals though.

Hey, hippiness is about your values, love, peace and music. And stuff. Sure caring for the environment and animals is awesome, but it is important to just be yourself as well. I mean, you shouldn't be confined by any restrictions or anything being a hippy. You should be free to like whatever music, eat meat or not, you name it, it's your choice. Besides, crazy colours are awesome, and I see nothing wrong with being an individual and dying your hair awesome stuff. Just go for it!!

Oh yeah, so long as it isn't tested on animals. Good point. Then it's a real no-no.
