Quote: The Gargoyles (1): Even when you thought you’d seen the last of them, it seems like you’re never really in the clear. A while back, there was an infestation of awful gargoyle creatures–and while every Star Festival had its fair share of oddities, this one seems to have introduced a permanent infestation upon the city. Maybe you see them perched on the roof, or hiding in the shadows, but not all of these grotesque creatures are satisfied with just escaping their interdimensional prison–some of them still have a bone to pick. They seem stony; some of them will watch with a penetrative gaze and never strike to attack, but some of them will dive down to target anyone who gets too close. The monsters come in an array of sizes and shapes, but they are no more than half the size of their target. Their goal is uncertain, but they will crumble into a pile of rocks and dust if struck hard enough. This RP can be used as a battle requirement as long as there are at least two powered characters involved; you must be interacting with another player’s powered character and cannot solo this with two of your own characters. This does not count as the ‘one youma battle’ per stage for growth. This can only be used as a battle requirement once per character, but there is no limitation for how many times a player can use this prompt. [This rp takes place shortly after this rp]

Sadalsuud hadn’t been around during the 2022 Star Festival, but it had been virtually impossible to avoid hearing about the strange infestation of gargoyle-like creatures during that time.
Although the gargoyles were just one of the many oddities that seemed to befall Destiny City, and sadly, Sadalsuud (and therefore by extension Mi-Hi), had witnessed more than her fair share of oddities over the years as a DC resident.
There had been whispers here and there that the gargoyle-like creatures weren’t quite as gone as people may have liked to believe.
Persistent whispers, with some claiming to have seen glowing eyes in the shadows, only to discover the creatures crouched in alleyway shadows or clinging to the side of buildings–
But so far Sadalsuud had been fortunate enough to avoid the creatures.
For now.
And truthfully, after her ill-fated encounter with the antique wooden die, complete with bats, collapsing floors, and a swamp determined to drag her under, it was safe to say that rumors (or otherwise) of gargoyle-like creatures were the very last thing on her mind.
Instead, she had finally managed to gather herself enough to drag herself upright, thoughts fixed on locating one of the many mirrors scattered across Destiny City and mirrorwalking to somewhere quiet enough to drop henshin.
An aura flickered and flared from somewhere nearby, Sadalsuud recognising it as belonging to a member of the Court - a super senshi like herself–
But with scratches stinging along her legs from the collapsing floor in the dark and a senshi outfit ruined by swamp muck, Sadalsuud wasn’t entirely sure she wanted to be seen, let alone start a conversation.
So instead she kept walking slowly down a sidewalk hemmed with tall buildings, shivering slightly against the evening chill and unaware of the stony eyes that glared down from above.

As well as Sinope knew how strange Destiny City was, like Sadalsuud, he hadn't been around when the gargoyles had shown up in the city for the 2022 Star Festival, so he wasn't quite as aware of them as many other residents of Destiny City. He liked gargoyles in general; their concept and origins and history and the stories surrounding them. However, he wasn't quite so used to being attacked by them.
After Sinope had survived his own encounter with his own six-sided die and the gameboard pocket dimension it went with, though, he, too, had become twice as wary. Although his skin and flesh no longer appeared to be melting off his bones, he was still soaked and stuck with what he was fairly certain was spiderwebbing. He supposed it could have been worse, but when he saw Sadalsuud the worse for wear, he had an inkling of what she might have just been through much the same as him.
"Sadal?" he called tentatively, seeing her weary form trudging down the sidewalk as something watched her from above - watched them.
"Sadal, look out! Above you!" he called, worried about the stony creatures above. Out of the frying pan and into the fire, it felt like. Trying to ignore the cold that felt like it was seeping into him from his wet clothes, he ran toward her just up ahead, hoping to get to her before the gargoyles did.

Sadalsuud’s attention had admittedly not been on her surroundings as much as perhaps it should have been.
Instead her thoughts had mainly been fixed on the sting of the evening air and the hope of managing to find a convenient mirror somewhere nearby that could be used to mirrorwalk somewhere quiet enough for her to drop her henshin–
Which was why she hadn’t realised that the source of the Dark Mirror aura that she’d picked up on had been far closer than she’d assumed.
So caught up was she in her thoughts that she’d also missed the other senshi’s, Sinope's, tentative greeting - although she did catch the sudden shift in tone and the sharp warnings of "Look out!" and "Above you!"
Sadalsuud instinctively stumbled back a few steps, green eyes widening as a shadowy figure plummeted down from one of the many buildings lining the sidewalk in the direction of the very spot where she had just been standing.
