Name: Clover Argento

Nickname: Skill, Skilly

Gender/Pronoun: she/her

Age: 25

Birthday: November 1, 2000

School/Occupation: “aspiring actress” (she lives off her dad’s money and holds down a part time job at the local cineplex)

Hobbies:
Horror - A great glutton for horror who pretends to be a snob but really isn’t, Clover lives for the genre, especially in movies (although she’s not opposed to video games and podcasts as well). She self-consciously regurgitates the opinions of those more well-versed than herself, but has a love for everything from slashers to surreal psychological thrillers - although her fondness is always for the former. Haunted houses, too, have their thrill for her, as well as putting together the scariest costume she can every October (but never quite winning the best-dressed prize).

Acting - A former theater kid, she fell out of the theater scene after high school and fell into indie bit-gigs and backyard outfits, from which she is striving to assemble a name for herself. In the meantime, the hobby mostly reflects in her taking endless acting classes and posting Instagram reels of how one does “murder eyes” while smiling, which are met with a small and decidedly mixed reception. She gets the urge to be theatrical out in a weekly DnD session at a local gaming store, although she drifts from one group and campaign to another.

Virtues:

Cheerful - One might be almost tempted to say “goofy.” With a relentlessly positive demeanor, Clover forces everyone to believe she’s having a good time, even - especially - when she isn’t. Even if the world’s kicks sometimes sting, it’s best to not let anyone else know it, right? And after all, faking it til you make it has its benefits. This optimism sometimes helps her smooth over tension during chaotic moments at work, as she refuses to be drawn into a funk even when everyone else is already neck-deep in it.

Devoted - Clover hates to break a promise. She hates it even more when it’s made to someone she genuinely cares about. Her defense of those close to her is ferocious and unflinching, and if she tells you she’s going to do something, she does.

Basically Good - Despite her many flaws, Clover is reluctant to dole out genuine harm to anyone who hasn’t (in her estimation) earned it. While her active benevolence might often be reserved for those closest to her, she attempts to navigate life in a way that does as little harm as possible to those around her. This extends to attempting to be easy to work with even when the mood on set (or at the cineplex) is tense, accepting a slightly-off coffee order without ever complaining, and being the sort of person who will always try her best to return five bucks she finds on the sidewalk.

Flaws:

Insecure - Despite an outward projection of confidence and easy goofiness, Clover is plagued by imposter syndrome (at times, tragically, warranted) and a fear that everyone around her is secretly laughing at her. She’d probably have an easier time avoiding that if she developed her own opinions and thoughts, but she is still young enough to believe that relying on the ideas of smarter, more worldly people is a surefire way to be taken more seriously yourself. Her easy tendency to playful self-deprecation is a reflection of this: a shield to make people believe that their little jokes don’t sting quite as much as they do.

Pushover - While it’s nice to be the sort of person who doesn’t send back a coffee order, it can also result in being the sort of person who spends fifty bucks on a meal you didn’t order and that came out cold and late. Clover’s fear of being inconvenient might save her from being a diva, but it also frequently prevents her from having things she wants the way she wants them. This tendency to cheerful tongue-biting often leads to her fomenting bitterness without even realizing it herself, until a million little stifled complaints - which could have been resolved if she’d only spoke up - boil over into a one-sided rivalry.

Vengeful - …. And boy, does she take a rivalry seriously, even when the rival is unaware she exists. The moment her internal dial clicks over from “harmless bystander” to “person who wronged me,” Clover becomes obsessed with the idea of karmically righting whatever wrong that was. She can go to great lengths at this, and likes to keep her efforts as underground and secret as possible for the sake of maintaining her angelic reputation. Those who have actively crossed her, however, have witnessed how incapable she can be of letting go of a grudge.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

Eyes: Big, black, and doe-like.

Hair: Stick-straight and black, falling to about the bottom of her shoulderblades with no layers or bangs.

Face: A delicate, elegant face that is beautiful in a way that is almost instantly forgettable. Slim nose, round mouth, a single mole on one cheek that is the only thing at all remarkable about her appearance.

Skin Tone: Very fair.

Body Type: Medium height, slim, elegant but leaning to pear-shaped with a relatively flat chest.

Clothes: Generally wears sweatshirts and shorts, or occasionally letterman jackets. Sometimes wears horror-themed clothes but doesn’t actually wear goth stuff that often. Generally in Red Wing style workboots but might wear sneakers. Very rarely accessorizes unless it’s to put a cute knife-shaped clipped in her hair or something. Unpainted nails, no makeup except maybe some winged liner and mascara.

Backstory notes that might be relevant to approval:

Clover's grandmother was in several cult classic horror movies as an obligatory "beautiful victim" over a "career" that spanned about 15 years. She was not by any stretch of the imagination a household name, nor in any particularly famous or blockbuster films. She might be known to very invested horror enthusiasts. She died when Clover was a very small child, and Clover has only extremely vague memories of her. She did not find out about her grandmother's career until she was in high school.

Clover's early obsession with being an actress led to her "starring" in a few runs of small-time local commercials when she was about twelve. She was uncredited for these and although the commercials were memorable to some around Destiny City, she would not be recognized by anyone unless they had some sort of especially insanely good eye for faces and also really remembered those commercials well.

She has also featured in some horror movies, but these were backyard, straight-to-indie-festival productions that might have sold a couple hundred copies, max. She has yet to land a lead role in any of them. She is in no way a celebrity and might only be recognized vaguely by especially obsessed horror fans.
