Hanako 'Hana' Tone

While Hanako tended to stick to less eccentric clothes, Halloween was a common exception. With most people planning all sorts of costumes, Hanako would be a fool not to join in the fun. Plus-it was a good oppportunity to get some extra likes on his social media. Alas, he had the disadvantage of couple outfits tending to receive more attention than just solo ones. But oh well, that was just a challenge for him to deal with. Not like he could control everything that happens in social media, can he?

Regardless, it would be fun for him. Knowing full well that he can pull off any outfit with the right confidence. And confidence was something he was pretty much born with - he was sure of it. So Halloween outfits are always a fun challenge. He had a duty to keep his streak of never being in a bad outfit after all.

He had already planned a few weeks in advance before the first month of October even came. Already asking a few passing customers in the flowershop if they had any plans for Haloween. Getting information, and then saying he'd go as something vague like a pirate or something. Please, as if he'd be that basic. He wanted his outfit to be good enough that people won't just stop at calling him cute. Ideally it's good enough for people want to linger longer, and carry on the conversation pass usual politeness.

Alas, even with all the advance planning , Hanako didn't have a clue on what he wanted to be. That was the issue when you knew you looked good in everything (self proclaimed). There was just too many options that you couldnt pick one. After a few weeks and multuple doom scrollings, October came and he knew he was almost out of time. No doubt costumes woudl be rented or sold out soon with the spooky festival coming soon.

At some point he relinquished control. Told himself to put on a jacket and shoes and shop on foot. Maybe shopping would help him find inspiration. So he left his apartment, earbuds in, putting his playlist on shuffle while he shops.

While passively browsing the stores, he made a face at the weird folklore-esque music that showed up in his ears. How nostalgic. It was those songs he used to listen to when he was younger. Recalling how he would spend summer breaks mostly at his old penthouse garden just tending to it in the morning. Funny, he works so much at a flowerstore now as an adult that something he used to feel a tranquil joy is was now just helping him pay bills. He didnt remember a recent time where he tended a place as tenderly as he did before, isntead of just doing it because he had to keep it alive. How ironic.

Just when he wanted to skip to the next song, his eyes caught onto a costume that was put on display. It was so absurdly…simple. A fairy. Like - who hasn't worn that at least once in their life.

Hana.

Hana hadn't.

It was so basic that he hadn't even thought of doing it before, thinking he could do more interesting things. But there was something… about this costume. Maybe it was the folklore-esque song playing in his ear, or the nostalgia that hit him just now, but that outfit… looked nice. It had a purple floral theme but not overpowering. With what looked like soft fabric, a lot of breathing room without acess fabric weighing the arms down. Hanako wouldn't even known the extra fabric at the back were wings that had just fallen off the manequin.

How …cute, actually. Just needing adjusting here and there but… overall..nice. Hanako found himself walking into the store, heading to the cashier to ask if they had his measurements for that fairy costume.

If Halloween was a challege for him to remind everyone that he could rock in any costume, then a basic one would do just the trick for this year.
