Labradorite had decided tonight was nice enough for energy gathering. This week had been unusually warm in the city and it lead to having increased night life considering that people had gotten comfortable with the crazy dangers that lurked at night.
The lieutenant had decided that she'd stake out near a coffee shop leaning on a streetlight for someone who was interested enough in the lone woman standing there. And soon enough her waiting paid off as someone did stroll up to her.
There was an alleyway not that far away and she lead the unsuspecting civilian into the alleyway with the promise of this would be fun - though she failed to mention for her and not them. She started draining their energy once she'd put her arm over their shoulder.
It was such an easy target and they fell for it almost every time. The lieutenant chuckled as she was about to wrap up the energy draining since the civilian had passed out when she felt an energy signature. "Oh, here comes the fun police." She said dryly.

LP Squire: A short riding whip with a red silk handle, incapable of breaking the skin and causing only blunt force damage. Flowering vines erupt from the ground and reach to about knee-high in a ten foot radius, wrapping around the opponent's legs to slow them down. Although the vines are breakable, the scent of the flowers induces an urge to seek Joy's approval, praise, or affection, although the urge can be fought with active focus. Joy can channel for approximately 35 seconds at this stage.
Knight: A much longer bull whip with a red and gold handle, still incapable of breaking the skin and only causing blunt force damage. Flowering vines erupt from the ground. The vines are thicker and more difficult to break through and encompass a fifteen foot radius, and may snare wrists or forearms. Performing actions in direct opposition to her commands can be done but will require active focus. Joy can channel for approximately 45 seconds at this stage. "Oh," said a voice at the mouth of the alley. "Don't compare me to cops. I'm way more useful." Well, normally. In this case, less useful than she wanted to be, as it appeared she'd arrived too late to avert a lapse into unconsciousness. Still, she never quite trusted them to stop at one, or even to stop there with one. Duty - disgusting as it was - called. Anyway, if people started getting bad ideas about women walking around offering random people dark-alley funtimes and knocking them unconscious, that would be bad for Elaine, not just Joy. She didn't make the first move yet. She had grown a little more cautious about these things since learning that not everyone was what they immediately seemed. Better to let them move first, and react, whether it was against an attack or an attempt to flee. "I think you should clock out for the night."

The voice at the mouth of the alley had Labradorite turn her head and settle the unconscious civilian down softly so they were comfortably placed and there was a chuckle from the lieutenant "More useful than cops?"
She quipped softly, "Well, I suppose we'll see about that." She tried not to falter thinking about her weapon and how this was probably going to suck. She realized that the owner to the energy signature was a knight. She dismissed the energy pearl into her subspace in order to keep it safe.
"I guess knights are far more chivalrous than a cop." Labradorite said dryly. She causally leaned on the wall of the alley, crossing her arms. When her poster popped up in her hand she made sure it was rolled up like a newspaper would've been, she hoped the useless thing would at least appear intimidating some how.
"And if I don't clock out? What will you do?" She asked lips curling into a smirk.

LP Squire: squire power just to clarify: Although the vines are breakable, the scent of the flowers induces an urge to seek Joy's approval, praise, or affection, although the urge can be fought with active focus. Knight: Flowering vines erupt from the ground. The vines are thicker and more difficult to break through and encompass a fifteen foot radius, and may snare wrists or forearms. Performing actions in direct opposition to her commands can be done but will require active focus. Joy can channel for approximately 45 seconds at this stage. It took her a moment to register that that flimsy piece of paper was whatever stood in for the agent's weapon, and the realization did her good. It always warmed her heart to remember that she was not the only person who had been saddled with something manifestly useless for self-defense when she awakened. "I'm not chivalrous," she said, taking a tentative step forward into the alley, to get herself nearer to her target. "Chivalry's for other people." She snapped the whip then, as well as she could do in the confined space - which was not very well. But it was good enough for green leaves to begin racing towards the agent, bearing white flowers as they erupted rapidly towards her feet and legs. "I think you should clock out for the night," she repeated, more firmly, with a sweet condescension in her voice, as if ordering a slightly disobedient but still-adorable dog.

The lieutenants brow lofted as Joy said that chivalry was for other people. Well wasn't that interesting, well up until the other cracked her whip and she watched the confined space just suddenly erupt in green leaves and flowers with vines coming towards her.
Labradorite tried to move away from the vines but wasn't quite fast enough. She made a face when she felt like she needed to impress this knight to get praise. Something in the back of her mind was cursing order as she struggled against the idea of actually going to 'clock out'.
The agent seemed to debate over what she was going to do or say, "Lets say I clock out - you going to buy me a drink?" She asked after a moment with a cheesy grin. She knew the knight out ranked her so it was a bit more difficult to fight the magic and see if just retreating would have worked, but something about this had her wanting to see what she could get out of the knight.

"I'm flattered," she purred, trying not to sound as hurried as she felt, desperate to get this going before the magic pool evaporated. This was the damn problem with the magic - sometimes it worked too well, and you had someone on your hook that you just wanted to chase away without getting socked in the teeth. "Maybe I will next time I see you, if you're not standing over a civilian you've just knocked out. Yeah?" This last was spoken in an encouraging way: you can do it, it seemed to say.

Labradorite tilted her head softly when the other said she was flattered, though she wasn't sure if Joy was actually serious or just saying something to move her along.
There was a soft shrug from the lieutenant as she looked back to the civilian in question when she was told that perhaps next time the knight saw her she'd buy her a drink. It was tempting, and there was a sigh, she headed towards Joy since for some reason she'd decided the dead end alley ways were the better place to corner a civilian.
As she was walking past, she softly brushed up against the Knight's arm as she walked, "Fine, you win darling." She said softly with a catty grin, "I'll clock out."
She had stopped to take in the knight before winking, "I'll also take that rain check and look forward to next time we meet." The lieutenant just softly pointed her poster at the knight before walking on.
After all it was much easier to just mosey on away from a knight, she'd hate to end up on the receiving end as just a lowly lieutenant. "At least it was just energy and not their starseed." She called back as she sauntered off.

She forced a sweet smile as she brushed past, giving her an incongruous little salute as she did so.
It rankled to let her go. Even as she watched her retreating back she considered unleashing a couple of strikes at her on sheer principle. But maybe - if the effects of her magic lingered enough to make an impression - the agent truly would hesitate before draining another civilian. Even a single one would be something like an accomplishment, to say nothing of sparing a starseed.
She was exhausted, she realized. Not enough sleep; too much pushing of both Elaine and Joy. She eyed the unconscious civilian with something that was almost envy for that easy, dreamless rest.
A stupid thought, unworthy of her. With a sigh, she waited until the energy signature dissipated, and then went to be something like a hero to someone she'd been too late to properly rescue.
