[follows 🐔☠️🐔]

Karakorum was, for the first time, really really glad she'd shut up, let Corvina drag her to her Wonder, and gotten her signet ring, because it meant she could dash off a quick note to Lanting, giving him a location to meet her and Blarney and telling him there was a Page in distress who needed his assistance. It honestly felt nice to be able to help like that, even if she wasn't the one providing the actual magical healing.

"Hang out for a minute, my brother should be here soon," she promised Blarney, but honestly, he seemed to be handling the whole thing pretty well. She had ot give credit where it was due; no panicking or freaking out.

And as she'd brought him to find somewhere to sit and wait, she'd managed to find a discarded red star charm that someone must have ditched. Which meant one more for her collection, which in her mind was a total success.

Honestly, getting a note from Kara that she and some poor Page had fought an evil chicken and the Page needed healing felt like....sure, this might as well happen. Lanting had been off on his own anyway, but he sent a quick note off to Corvina to let him know that he'd be a little later meeting up to go home, just in case his boyfriend worried.

Then, he'd scampered off to go find Kara and her new friend, and as he approached the bench, he already had his staff out and ready.

"Hi," he said, without even sitting down, "I'm Lanting, you must be Blarney, and I hear you need a little healing?"

Honestly, it felt so cool to just...rock up with magic and lay it down to help someone. He tapped his staff against the ground, letting the magical orchids bloom around them, and then leaned against it.

"Let me know when you feel better and I'll stop channel ling, but honestly, we're not going anywhere, so feel free to let me run my magic out."

Quote:
Magic: Lanting taps his staff against the ground, and he glows with a soft purple light. He is surrounded by a field of orchids that extends to a 15ft radius, and allies within the radius feel a sense of sanctuary and safety, and find that minor injuries are fully healed, moderate wounds are mostly healed, and serious wounds are stabilized. In order to receive the full effects of Lanting’s healing, they must remain in the radius for his full channeling time, and if he stops channeling early, full effects may not be applied. Lanting can channel for a total of 45 seconds at this stage.

Blarney was aware, distantly, in some far-off way, that he was experiencing the condition known as shock. He was hovering somewhere a few inches out from his body, listening to himself talk - about what, he couldn't possibly begin to say. Something about how pretty she was, probably, and how much he wanted a snack. He should have snacks in his subspace. Could things go bad in subspace? Could germs survive in subspace? Maybe subspace was the advancement in medical science we'd all been waiting for--

And then someone else was there, mostly purple. When had Blarney's eyes gotten so fuzzy? No, it was just his vision that had gone blurry, not his eyes. His eyeballs weren't fuzzy, but it was as a funny image, and he started to laugh, just as the purple spread out from the new guy to reach him.

It took a few moments, but the laughter died in his throat and Blarney returned to his body with - he would swear it - an audible thump, blinking rapidly. How much of that had he said out loud? He had absolutely no idea, and he felt the blush come to his cheeks. Being magically healed - that's what was going on, he realized belatedly, and the guy who was 'mostly purple' was not in fact actually purple but was just all decked out in the color, holding what looked like a shepherd's crook. Blarney brought a hand to the scratches along the back of his neck, gingerly pressing on the spot, and was amazed to find that he could almost feel them stitching themselves up, sewing the cleave marks back together like nothing had ever happened.

He was starting to feel a little silly again, but in a good way - like when strong medicine finally kicked in. He was in no hurry to turn off the spout of magic, so he waited until it faded out on its own accord to speak, giving both of them a wide, if sheepish, grin.

"I owe you guys, for real," Blarney said, looking between them. "Thank you, for saving my bacon, and for keeping my bacon from wracking up mondo hospital bills," he said, addressing the first to Kara and the second to Lanting. "It's nice to meet you both, though I wish I'd had to bleed a little less to make it happen, huh?" Blarney chuckled and shook his head.

"Miss Kara said you two are siblings, right?" Blarney said, peering at the two of them to see if he could pick up on any family resemblance. He could not, but whether that was because of the magic, the lateness of the hour, or the day he'd had, he had no idea. "That's so cool." He thought again of his own sister, and personally was relieved that she had no special powers yet - he didn't want her to be the one getting clawed to pieces by a piece of pissed-off poultry.

"What--did you guys say you were knights of again?" Blarney asked, the words jumbled in his brain, but he was pretty sure that neither of them had mentioned a planet he'd ever heard of.

Karakorum sighed, patting the poor Page on the shoulder. She was not inclined to take anything he was saying seriously, given the "head injury" of it all; the compliments were nice, but she wasn't going to let it go to her head too much.

It was like she could see him come down, when the laughter stopped, and she wanted to laugh a little herself. At least Lanting had managed to fix him up, which was the important thing; he was no longer bleeding and somewhat more coherent now.

"There we go. No need to thank me, it's simply what any responsible Knight shijie ought to do," she said, which made Lanting roll his eyes.

Was it an assumption to decide that she was older than him? Yes. But she at least outranked Blarney, so that had to count for something. And anyway, considering them martial siblings of a sort like this was some kind of fantasy novel felt...alright, a little silly, but also right. They were magical, after all, and maybe they weren't the same sect (Knight planet) but still.

"It's nice to meet you, too, Blarney. I'd like less evil chickens involved, myself, gross, but we get what we get." She shook her head a little. "But yes, we're siblings. I'm a Cybele Knight; my brother is an Ida Knight."

Lanting was a little worried, at first. Poor Blarney seemed so out of it, and then he was all giggly--that felt like a bad sign, until it all seemed to calm down as the healing magic really took effect. A little breath of relief passed his lips, and he smiled, nodding politely.

"Happy to help," he said. "The Destiny City hospitals are all super used to weird injuries, but that doesn't make it suck any less to have to go to one." Financially, for people not bankrolled by ridiculously rich parents, physically, emotionally...hospital trips were bullshit and Lanting was glad he could prevent one.

(Especially because he hadn't been able to really help Kaifeng, when Corvina's magic hurt him. That still felt like something he needed to make up for.)

"Thanks for explaining s**t, meimei," he said, with a little huff. "Ida and Cybele are asteroids. There's also a Sailor Ida and a Sailor Cybele running around, somewhere in Destiny City, which is kind of cool."

Also, if he recalled, Blarney had mentioned snacks.

Lanting reached into his subspace and produced a little bamboo box, which he opened to reveal little pork belly gua bao.

"Here, have one. My boyfriend made these and he is the most incredible cook."

Shije? Meimei? These were not words he knew, but he knew what an asteroid was. And Ida--actually, that rang a bell; that was what his stickbro friend was, a Knight of Ida. He hadn't thought much about it at the time, but now it wasn't just a one-off. There was a Sailor Ida, too, and a Sailor Cybele?

...Was there a Sailor Earth? Blarney frowned slightly to himself, but then Lanting was offering food and he put it aside, adding it to the growing mental list of questions he was developing.

"Oooh," Blarney said, eagerly taking one of the little bao. Distantly he mused that once upon a time, taking food from strangers was ranking pretty high on the list of 'things not to do', but now--

Well, now things were different. Not only had this guy actively saved him from meeting a grisly, bloody fate, but he was a Knight. That meant he was, loosely at least, on the same side as Blarney, and unless Kara and Lanting were pulling some incredibly convoluted long con on him, he was fairly confident that the bao wasn't poisoned.

It was, however, absolutely delicious.

"Oh my god," Blarney said, forgetting his manners over the taste of it. "This is--" Blarney forced himself to swallow, looking in amazement from the bao to Lanting. "This is stupid good, oh my god. Does your boyfriend like, have a restaurant? I feel like I should give him, like, a lot of money for a a lot more food, as soon as possible." Blarney laughed and finished the bao, even licking his fingers as he finished.

The whole 'boyfriend' part, though - that gave him a moment's pause, his mind flickering back to Khaz, and he looked back at Lanting curiously. "Does he know what you...that you guys are..." Blarney gestured between the three of them. "How does that work? If--if I can ask, I mean. Sorry, that's probably personal, you don't have to answer, sorry."

Karakorum couldn't help it--she started laughing. For one,t he enthusiasm for Corvina's food was always cute, but oh, that question. Absolutely killing her here.

"Yeah, Lanting, does your boyfriend know about all of this?" She asked, in the tone of a sister absolutely bullying her brother. It was just...it was just too perfect.

She wondered if Blarney knew about aliens at all, or if they were about to totally blow his mind.

Lanting rolled his eyes, waving a hand at Karakorum.

"Yuk it up," he deadpanned. "The reason this is so funny is that my boyfriend is a six-foot-ten pink tiger-tiefling from outer space. Yeah, he knows I'm a Knight, no, it's not too personal." He sighed. "And yes, he is an incredible cook, he put in a ton of effort learning when he got to Earth." He laughed, a little, himself, though it was clearly thoroughly fond and there was an undercurrent of desperately trying not to gush about his man.

"I don't think he'd do well running a restaurant, though. He comes from a proud warrior race kind of culture and it would be a whole thing, telling him that he can't duel Karens for the insult to his honor if they insult the food or are rude to the waitstaff."

Blarney blinked, blinked again, and processed at lightspeed. His eyes widened slightly and he looked from Kara to Lanting to his own empty hand, which had previously held the best bao he'd ever had in his life.

"You--you can date the aliens?" Blarney blurted out, the words escaping him before he could edit them, or stop them. "I'm--I'm sorry, that's--I hadn't--I've only met one--he was like, halfway a bunny person--did you say a tiefling? What on earth is a tiefling?" Blarney paused.

"Or, I guess. What in space, not on Earth, as the case may be. How--" Blarney had a series of questions that would be too personal, mostly about how alien biology and body morphology worked for certain things, but honestly, after Albite told him that he'd basically wanted to put his d**k in the busted oven that was Faustite's chest--his horizons for what 'sex' could look like had expanded. Rapidly.

But he hadn't known you were allowed to date the aliens!

"I mean--that's--this food is good enough that I think he should be allowed to duel anyone who complains about it," Blarney finally landed on, doing his absolute best to get past his own mystification over the concept. "And I think anyone should be allowed to duel someone who's mean to service people."

"Oh yeah," Karakorum said, in the dreamy way that indicated she was very much thinking of her own alien situationship, "you can totally date the aliens."

Okay, she and Winston weren't dating, but they could be. That was allowed. She just had to...like...talk to him about it, or whatever. Be an adult. Blah blah blah. Anyway, that wasn't the point.

"And since my nerd-a** brother forgot that not everyone plays RPGs, tieflings are like, multicolored demon people in DnD. He means that his boy has pink skin and horns." Broken ones, but that was details. "But yeah, there are lots of people Corvina should be allowed ot fight that society says he can't."

Lanting looked a little sheepish in the face of Blarney's shock. This wasn't the kind of revelation he'd been expecting to dump on the poor kid. But here they were.

Oops.

"He's really amazing and I'm really lucky," because he put up with everything that came with dealing with Shuangxu and Lanting, and that was a lot already, never mind all the other things he did. "But I'd prefer he stay out of jail." He reached out to gently pat Blarney's shoulder.

"Feeling better? No lingering dizziness or anything?"

"What?" Blarney blinked, the shock of learning about inter-galatic hookups having made him forget the whole reason Lanting was here in the first place, at least for a minute. "Oh! Oh, yeah, no, I'm--I feel great," Blarney promised with a grin. Just to make sure, he held up the hand with his signet ring on it and hit a button, watching as the recently-installed vital signs upgrade popped up in hologram form before him. He scanned back through the recent history and winced - yeah, his numbers had been way out of whack, what with the whole bleeding from the head thing, but they were all back to baseline now. Blarney nodded and closed the image, then looked back at the pair of them.

"Thank you again for getting here as fast as you did, man, I really appreciate it. Both of you, actually," he added, glancing back to Kara with the same smile. "If you guys ever need anything, just give me a call, okay? I don't have like, real magic yet, but..." Blarney waggled his stick in a playfully threatening manner, "I can smash stuff real good. And my high kicks are not messing around. Or, like, I'm tall, so if you ever need something off the top shelf..." Blarney chuckled and shook his head.

"Really though. Just give me a shout and I'll be there, okay?"
