Welcome to the Blueberry Academy Terarium Safari Contest! Sponsored by the Association of Safari Zones and Blueberry Academy! At the Safari Zones around the world we hold capture contests, and as the name implies it is a contest to see who can catch the biggest, rarest Pokemon out there! Today we will be holding a Safari Contest, here in the Terarium of Blueberry Academy in Unova, in honor of the academy's grand opening of the Terarium! The opening delayed due to the previous war.
The contest is simple, in the Friend Zone you will find many different kinds of Pokemon, from all over the world in fact! We give participants three Safari Balls to use and attempt to capture the best Pokemon they can, or you can use any three Pokeballs of their own, if you do, we do not give you any Safari Balls. [You may use one of yours and two of ours and so forth. You are only allowed to use three Pokeballs total.] You are allowed to take just one of your own Pokemon into the park to use to weaken a wild Pokemon for capture, so don't let it get knocked out! Pokemon are judged on their quality, rarity, and how well the capture was roleplayed. So are you interested? Then sign up, take your Safari Balls, and hit the grass and find the best Pokemon you can!
How to Participate:
The rules for the Safari Contest are simple. Pick one Pokemon to use in the contest, and when you post your character looking for a Pokemon use the random number generator to find out what Pokemon your character finds. Set the lowest number to 1 and the highest to 50 for all areas. Please be sure to state which area you are in at least in your first post for each area. You may travel to different areas if you wish. Once your post goes through, check to see what number you got, then, look at the list of available Pokemon, at the bottom of this post, to see what Pokemon appeared.
Then, in your next post once the Pokemon has been decided, begin battling it all in one post. But before you post your battle, use the Random Number generator again to see if the capture was successful, setting the lowest to 1 and the highest to 10, however, different Pokeballs have different success rates depending on what Pokemon or area you are using them on/in. Consult the list below to see what Pokeballs benefit this area.
----------
[Safari Ball] 50% Success Rate on any Pokemon.
[Pokeball] 50% Success Rate on any Pokemon.
[Great Ball] 60% Success Rate on any Pokemon.
[Ultra Ball] 70% Success Rate on any Pokemon.
[Net Ball] 70% Success Rate on Bug and Water type Pokemon, 50% on all others.
[Dive Ball] 70% Success Rate on Water type Pokemon, 50% on all others.
[Dusk Ball] 70% Success Rate on Pokemon found in caves, 50% on anything else.
[Nest Ball] 70% Success Rate if Pokemon is a lower stage than your own Pokemon.
[Repeat Ball] 70% Success Rate. Allows a fourth and final capture attempt after the previous three have failed.
[Quick Ball] 80% Success Rate on your first Pokemon encountered only, 50% on all consecutive.
[Timer Ball] 80% Success Rate if it's your last Pokeball only, 50% on any prior.
[Heal Ball] 80% Success Rate on a Pokemon if you failed to capture it once already, 50% if not.
[Luxury Ball] 80% Success Rate on a Pokemon that evolves with happiness.
[Fast Ball] 80% Success Rate on a fast Pokemon.
[Heavy Ball] 80% Success Rate on a heavy Pokemon.
[Level Ball] 80% Success Rate on a first stage Pokemon (Spearow, Stunfisk, etc.), 50% on all others.
[Love Ball] 80% Success Rate on a Pokemon with only a single gender, 50% on all others.
[Lure Ball] 80% Success Rate on a Pokemon fished out of the water.
[Friend Ball] 80% Success Rate on a Pokemon that evolves with happiness.
For success rates of 50%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
For success rates of 60%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
For success rates of 70%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7
For success rates of 80%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
For success rates of 90%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9
----------
As long as you still have Pokeballs you may continue to hunt and capture Pokemon until you get one you are comfortable with. If you catch a Pokemon, but then choose to catch another, you must release the first Pokemon you caught before keeping the second. Once you run out of Pokeballs your time is up and the Pokemon you last caught will be the one judged.
When everyone is done (a specified time will be given when the contest will end, regardless if others are done) all Pokemon caught will be judged. Each Pokemon will be judged individually in separate posts where a random number will be used to judge their quality, between 1 and 5 and the number it lands on will be its quality. The other stat taken into consideration is the Pokemon's rarity, its species. A rather common Pokemon like Spearow won't give as much points as a Pokemon like Absol would give much more. However, with quality, a Spearow could beat out a Absol.
Note you can use Bait and Honey sold from the Golden Sarcophagus to increase your chance at getting the Pokemon you want. Bait cuts in half the number range while Honey lets you change X amount of numbers to a Pokemon you prefer. These items stack as well so you can cut the range in half (50 numbers becomes 25) and change X amount of numbers in that new range to another Pokemon.
Contestant Prizes:
Prizes will be given out to the top three contestants, as well as a consolation prize to those who don't make the top three. All participants get to keep the Pokemon they caught. The first place contestant may choose to get a Snag Emblem or additional Snag Coins apart from the normal prize.
1st place prize: 15 Snag Coins and one Snag Emblem OR 25 Snag Coins OR Rare Candy! Plus 2x Exp. Candy XL
2nd place prize: 15 Snag Coins and 2x Exp. Candy L
3rd place prize: 10 Snag Coins and 1x Exp. Candy M
All participants who did not place receive 5 Snag Coins or 1x Exp. Candy S as a consolation prize as well as their captured Pokemon. Snag Coins can be spent in the Snag Mall.
Also, if you use a Pokemon that's not fully evolved that Pokemon will earn Evolution Points/Happiness Points at the end of the contest depending on how many Pokemon it knocked out. For Evolution Points your Pokemon gains 0.50 points for first stage (Caterpie), 0.60 points for second stage (Metapod), 0.70 points for base (Tauros), and 0.80 points for third stage (Butterfree). For Happiness Points you must battle at least five Pokemon to gain one happiness point, including a successful capture. If not catching anything then it's seven battles. You can also gain Purification Points in the same way as Evolution Points. Don't worry, the Terarium is protected by an Immunizer so no virus spreading here! Evolution/Purification Points will be rounded up at the end and we ask you post how many points you accrued in your final post. Bonus points (Evolution, Purification, or Happiness Points) will be rewarded to all participants at the end based on how much effort and content went into your posts. You may lose points if your battles were one liners or just in general lacked any effort.
For the purpose of training you may also use your newly captured Pokemon right away.
And that's it! Get out there and have fun!

[Bonuses]
Below you'll find the various bonuses you can obtain throughout the Safari Contest.
-----
Roll the same Pokemon twice in a row and you may have the third encounter be that Pokemon’s next evolutionary stage. Add +1 to star rarity.
Roll the same Pokemon three times in a row and the third one is shiny! Applies only once per the entirety of Safari Contest. First one to capture shiny gets it. If not captured others may roll a shiny.
Every three battles will reward you 1x Exp. Candy XS (received at the end of the contest). If you battle the same Pokemon consecutively then you receive a higher rank candy (eg. if you battle a Rattata once and then again right after the candy you receive for those two battles would be an Exp. Candy S instead).
Every capture will reward 1x Exp. Candy M. Capture of a 5 Star rewards you a Exp. Candy L instead. Capture of a shiny rewards you a Exp. Candy XL instead. Pokemon does not have to be kept to count, just captured.
(Note the candies provide the following amount of points:
XS - 1 point S - 2 points M - 3 points L - 4 points XL - 5 points)

[Polar Biome]
Tsuki stood in the newly opened Polar Biome of Blueberry Academy, a few empty Pokeballs at his hip and three Pokemon at the other. He had been excited for the chance to stretch his legs in a region he hadn’t visited yet, even if this school wasn’t on the mainland itself. Heck, with the battle points scoring, this seemed like more of a “battle academy” than Naranja Academy ever seemed like. He preferred it like that, always feeling a bit stamped down and shoved into a school room in Paldea.
But this? Walking in the snow, steam coming off of his shoulders from the snow, Tsuki knew he’d have preferred this place. Wearing shorts, sneakers, and a sleeveless workout shirt, he oddly didn’t feel cold at all. With his blaze amulet dangling around his neck, it seemed like he was able to be in slightly colder temperatures with less issue than before- like he was his own self heating unit. He checked his SNAG for the time before picking up the pace on his trek. While he had done some research on what he was looking for here, the Snagem knew he had a limited time to find a fairly rare Pokemon to catch for himself.

A Cleffa! Not exactly what he was looking for, but Tsuki was also looking for a battle or two so that he could train his newer team members. “Makara, you’re up!” He called out, throwing out the Pokeball that contained his Pikipek. He had been a gift egg from Director Clavell for helping out with that whole Team Star and Mister Mushroom affair and he hadn’t had much time to battle on his own yet. The Dynamax Toxel that they battled in Galar wasn’t exactly what he wanted to include either. They had won, yeah, but that had been a very messy win. Without Monique, Tamika, and Hop they definitely would have been defeated.
“Lead up with a Fury Attack, you’re gonna wanna dive in and out.” Tsuki said encouragingly. His bird Pokemon chirped in agreement and dive bombed the Fairy type, swooping back and forth five times. Each time pecking it in another spot but leaving it with the opportunity to use- Copycat? The Cleffa cried and formed a beak of her own with pink chi and counterattacked with her own Fury Attack, swiping four times and landing twice. Thankfully, Makara’s Skill Link meant he could more consistently attack and his aerial advantage meant he could weave through the attacks with more ease than the landlocked baby.
Waving at Makara to tell him to back off, Tsuki gave his next command. “Use Screech then go in for one last attack!” He called out from below. The Pikipek chirped aggressively down at the Cleffa a few times before swooping down again to give a barrage of Fury Attacks. This time though, the Cleffa was better prepared. She let loose a Disarming Voice that Makara dive bombed directly through, dealing damage but not stopping his assault. Another five uses of Fury Attack knocked out the Cleffa and the battle was over.
“Good goin’ bud, you’re getting better at flying. Wanna return?” He asked, pulling out his Pokeball. Instead Makara flew over and landed on his head. Right.
Well, onto the next encounter.

“Oh neat, a Solosis.” Tsuki noted as he walked across the icy tundra of Blueberry Academy’s Terrarium. It wasn’t what he was looking for either and he didn’t want to use Makara quite yet against a Pokemon like that, finding it better to start training with something he’d have some kind of natural advantage over to give him breathing room in battle. Bugs, landlocked creatures, and definitely nothing with serious ranged attacks. Solosises (Solosii?) could float around and had substantial psychic power on their own so that was a no go.
Shaking his head, Tsuki strolled right on past and moved on to find a different encounter. “C’mon, we don’t want you tiring yourself out too quickly yeah?” He asked, scratching the top of the bird’s head- who promptly bit his finger.
“OW?! You’re a capricious lil guy ain’tcha?” He wondered just how bad his bite could get when he eventually evolved into a Toucannon. That Pokemon wasn’t so big you could ride it, but its beak was still twice its size!

Up next was a Vulpix and it was an Alolan one at that. Tsuki considered the three Pokemon he brought along and knew that two of the three that he wanted to train didn’t have a particularly good matchup against an Ice type. Heck, this wasn’t a particularly good biome for either now that he thought about it. But he had a specific Pokemon in mind that he was tracking down so he’d have to battle what little he could and avoid anything that didn’t strike his fancy. As for the third Pokemon he brought, that was just one of his that could take a hit and dish it back reliably if something happened to the other two.
“Cute, but no offense buddy, it’s Icy Wind will be a big issue for you right now. Let’s keep on going and find something else for you to get your practice on?” Tsuki said up to the Pikipek resting on his head, who chirped in acknowledgment to his trainer. It was still early on in the Safari so he wasn’t in any rush, now was the time to scope out the environment and carefully pick his targets. He’d get more ‘yeehaw’ as things progressed later on probably maybe.
Keeping low as to not spook the fox, Tsuki circled around and left it behind. It seemed like it was just chilling out more or less, pun intended. Not exactly on the hunt itself. Now if it had been, then he’d have taken note. That’d hopefully lead him closer to his own target.

Jezebel stretches across her bed to see a flashing alert on her snag device.
"Oh? What's this?"
Opening the message she finds an invite to a special Safari. "Greetings Mr/Mrs/Mx. We sent out this invitation to welcome all to the Blue Berry Academy Safari Hunt! A special event to where you're welcome to explore our vast self sustaining wilderness of the Blue Berry Terrarium. Come and choose your pokemon partner today!"
Jezebel yawned with confusion. "Well; that certainly was a message." She grumbled.
After a short time of gathering her things, and getting Cayenne ready. "Alright, Time to see what this Safari Event is all about." She said to her Kantonian Vulpix.
Quickly leaving her room and coming into the lounge she looked around briefly. "Huh, everyone must have already gone. Well, i dont want to falll behind." Taking a deep breath. "Claydoll, Sweetie. I need your assistance please." The HQ Claydoll appeared before her lightly floating around. "Hello. Could you please teleport me to a location called "Blue Berry Academy."
Staring deep into your mind; a brief moment later Jezebel and the Claydoll are surrounded by salty seabreeze. "Oh wow! This is incredible. Thank you Claydoll!" She quickly noticed the Claydoll's absence.
She walks up to the front desk to ask about the Terrarium. The agent excitedly speaks, "OH! Welcome. You're here for the Special Safari event! We're so happy that you choose to join in." Grabbing a tablet nearby. "Here's a quick run down of the event. There are 5 different zones you're welcome to explore and battle. Please keep in mind; during the event you're only allowed to keep one pokemon you captured. With that in mind; on this pad are the specific zones and an estimated pokemon that can be found there in. Good Luck on finding you a new team memeber!"
Looking over the zones and seeing the lists. "Hmmmm, the Canyon mind be a fun place to search. Several pokemon i could love to see and possibly capture."
"I would like to go to the Canyon zone please." She said with gumption. "I'm sorry. We can't just teleport you there. If you follow the elevator down to the Terrarium itself. You'll be in the Savanah Zone. Just Head west from the elevator Entrance or follow the call until you come across some colorful blocks, Again; best of luck."
Jezebel didnt like that answer all to well, but went with it. Taking the elevator down to the main stage event. She finds herself on the staircase overlooking the vast open world of the Terrarium.
"Well; i guess we're here. Time to get to hunting; Cayenne come on out!" Her vulpix appears with a flash; "Alright; let's get going. I see the cliffs and bluffs of the Canyon in the distance. However we need to make it through the Savanah first from what i understand."
Letting out a large echoing battle cry "I'll spice up this event! ONWARD!"
Charging headlong into the vast wilds of the Savanah!

Clare arrived at Blueberry Academy with M&M in tow, the Tandemaus bouncing around their feet as they walked up to the school's main entrance. "Hello! I'm here from Uva-Naranja Academy. I came for the Safari event..." They greeted.
"Name?"
"Clare Asmia Kristel." The hybrid introduced, providing their full name for clarity.
It took a few minutes but after they had provided their name, the attendant was able to find them as an invited guest from Uva-Naranja Academy and quickly got them signed in, handing over three special Pokeballs for use in the Safari Contest. "I assume you already know the rules?"
"Yes. The academy provided me with a flyer with all of the contest information on it when I accepted the invitation. I understand there will be photographer taking photographs of us as we participate, is that correct?" Clare responded, accepting the proferred Balls.
"That would be correct. We're using this as an opportunity to capture some new promotional materials for the Blueberry Academy as well." The attendant explained.
"That's fine with me but you should be aware I'm a contracted model with Elesa'a agency based out of Nimbasa City. You should probably contact them and make sure they don't have a problem with you using any photos or videos of me before you put anything out with me in it. I have to sign release forms and collaboration contracts for anything I do outside the agency. I just want to make sure everything's covered and no one gets in trouble, ok?"
"Good to know. Thank you for the heads up. Good luck on your quest to capture the best!" The attendant thanked them, waving them through. "Just follow the signs toward the Terrarium and you'll find it easily."
Clare nodded and headed into the elevator that would take them deeper into the undersea academy. As they headed down, they looked out through glass doors to see the massive terrarium as it came into view, awed by it's sheer size at first, then by the diversity of life within the various biomes and their distinct borders. They could see so many different Pokemon running around but the area that got their attention the most was the polar biome. "There are so many cuties over there!" They squeaked with joy at the sight of several Pokemon they had to use their SNAG camera to zoom in on and get a closer look at.
First of them was a Milcery; an adorable little Fairy-type made of living cream, according to the PokeDex. Second was a Cubchoo; a sweet little bear Pokemon with a runny nose that just couldn't be stopped and a warm heart of gold despite the cold. Third came Cleffa; a small star child that evolved into Clefable, the eponimous Fairy Pokemon of myth from Kanto that had enamored children and adult lovers of cuteness for many years. And lastly, they spotted a Snubbull. The PokeDex didn't even get the chance to give them details before they had stars in their eyes for the little canine with the dress-like form and it's grumpy, heavily-jowled face. "I need that one!" They insisted to M&M. "Will you help me find a Snubbull once we get down there?!" They begged the pair of mice.
M&M looked at each other, cocked their heads in opposite directions at once, perfectly mirroring one anothers' movements, and then nodded in unison, cheering happily in perfect sync. "Tande!"
"Thank you!" Clare cheered happily, scooping up the pair and hugging them to their chest just as the elevator dinged and the doors opened into the terrarium itself. Clare pulled a coat from their bag and put it on as they made their way out into the Terrarium, following the white path marked by the odd glowing bricks that seemed to create a sort of intangble barrier between the biomes' atmospheres, feeling that they were in a sort of temperate hallway between the controlled environments until they had arrived at the center of the Terrarium, looping around the central area until they reached the path that would take them to the polar biome, where they woul find a set of stairs leading down into the snow and ice of the area.
As soon as they had fully stepped off the path, the cold hit them properly and they were immediately glad they had brought a coat just in case. "Alright! Let's go see what we can find!" They told the Tandemaus at their heels. The Hybrid and Pokemon nodded to one another and began to make their way into the snowy landscape with the two mice taking turns making large hops and pulling one another behind them as they did to keep up with Clare's much larger steps.

[Polar Biome]
Aaaaand the next Pokemon was a Snover. Hm. That wasn’t a Pokemon that really caught his attention, both in terms of standing out in this biome and being something Tsuki wanted to add to his party. Still though, it seemed like a fair enough target for Makara’s training. He pointed at their new opponent and urged his Pikipek forward. “Trust me? Start with a Roost and then get in close.” He said, his bird Pokemon hopping off and gliding forward to the Snover.
Listening to his trainer, Makara kept a distance away from the Snover and started the battle by roosting on a nice rock that seemed to be perfect for a nest. He scooted around, preened his feathers, and picked at loose dirt on him before being overtaken by a Powder Snow curtesy of the enemy Snover. The Ice Grass type closed in while spinning one of its arms to charge a followup close range Razor Leaf. Thanks to momentarily losing his Flying type, Makara tanked the weak ice move with little struggle and waited for Tsuki to give another command. As the baby abominable snowman closed in, he cried out “Now, Pluck!”
With a hop and a few flaps of his wings, Makara just got into the air as the Snover came barreling down like an avalanche. Biting the wild Pokemon in the face, he made its attack swing wild and miss. “Now, while it’s in your grasp: Fury Attack!” Tsuki yelled, waving an arm. The Pikipek let go of the flailing Snover and pecked it repeatedly on its face, so much so that it fell over backwards in shock. Slamming into the ground, the Snover tossed handful after handful of snow into the air to create a Mist that would let it take some kind of cover.
“Quickly, latch on with Pluck and don’t let go!”
Makara bite down hard and held on tight as possible while the Snover tried smacking him off of it. He wouldn’t back down no matter how hard their opponent flailed around. Until finally, the Pokemon fell and the little bird was left chirping triumphantly over the knocked out enemy. “It’s a good thing that you know Roost, that trick is gonna give you some more longevity here since you’re still on the greener end.” Tsuki noted before Makara flew back and landed on his head. Thankfully like most regional birds, Pikipeks were fairly easy to train (unlike that nightmare of a Titan Bombirdier that he gifted to Sub). Maybe one day he’d challenge himself with a powerful but dangerous Pokemon like that, but like his own Pokemon right now he felt like he was still on the greener end. It was probably why his strongest battlers were Pokemon he caught at their first stage and hand trained all the way to their current forms.

Rachel walked into the Terrarium, Rainer at her side. She was curious about what kind of Pokemon she could find here, and while she wanted to explore as much as possible, she knew she was on a time limit. So for now, she would head to the Canyon.
She and Rainer spent a short time walking around, curious to see what kind of place this was. Before she could go too far into the biome, she felt something fly by her, and she looked up to see a Swablu land nearby. Hmm, having a Flying-type on her team would be a good idea, in case she ever got lost and had to find her way around via the air. And with what Swablu evolved into, she would have a Pokemon large enough to carry her, if necessary. Glancing at Rainer, she saw that he was willing to battle, and he stepped forward as she gave a command.
"Swift!" she said, and a moment later, a flurry of stars flew at the Swablu, who lifted into the air in a panicked attempt to escape. It was a futile attempt, however, as Swift was a move that never missed, and the stars hit home on the Normal/Flying-type's chest, making it cry out in pain. Angered by the sudden onslaught, the Swablu began to sing, and Rachel immediately ordered Rainer underground. He managed to escape using Dig, and the Sing attack missed him. He popped up under the Swablu, even though the Dig attack wouldn't do anything, but he used Bite to bring the Normal/Flying-type to the ground. The Swablu fired off a Dazzling Gleam that caused Rainer to let go with a growl, but he came right back with a Tackle, sending the Swablu rolling across the ground. That hit looked to be a critical, and Rachel lobbed a Safari Ball at it. She watched as it sucked the Swablu inside and snapped shut, shaking violently as the occupant inside fought the capture device.
((I'm not going to keep track of EXP points for Rainer, as I plan to get him an evolution stone.))

Almost the moment Clare’s feet funk into the snow of the polar biome, they found themself assailed by a not-so-large tank of a Pokemon. A blast of light energy hit a snow bank right next to Clare, sending snow flying, as well as the hybrid. “Duuuuuuuura-!” The Duraludon roared as it stomped closer.
“Oh no…” They’d learned a bit about duraludon before coming out here as one of the more dangerous Pokemon that could be found in the Terrarium but knew little more than they were Dragon-types and they were dangerous if angered.
“Emery… Emerson. Can you fight this?” They asked the halves of their Tandemaus.
M&M nodded in unison, jumping forward, paws together as they unified against the much-larger beast bearing down on their trainer. The two shared a look for a moment and dashed in opposite directions, beginning to race around the larger Dragon-type Pokemon. Duraludon seemed like it couldn’t decide which to follow for a moment and the pair took advantage of that indecision. Emery unleashed a Bullet Seed, opening their mouth and spitting a rapid-fire series of seeds at the Alloy Pokemon from behind. Duraludon roared in annoyance rather than pain and spun on it’s heel, or whatever the equivalent might be on it’s massive, flat feet, and unleashed a Thunderbolt from the vent atop it’s head in the direction the attack had come from.
Emerson pause in their running around Duraludon, barely dodging the poorly-aimed Electric attack before spitting their own Bullet Seed right into the Dragon’s face and then running the other direction. Duraludon roared in annoyance and frustration once again before using a Stone Edge, trying to summon a jagged stone pillar to both cut off and actually Emerson’s escape. The Tendemaus-half jumped into the air as the blade of stone emerged, laughing and grabbing the tip of the stone pillar as it grew, riding it up and picking up speed before releasing and siling off it. Spinning in the air, Emerson’s paws began to spark for a moment before a weak electric charge shot from both, sailing toward Duraludon. The Dragon-type laughed, assuming the attack would do very little to it. What it didn’t see was Emery behind it with their own paws sparking as they completed the Thunder Wave’s circuit and guided the lightning to cut through the Dragon-type. Catching the incoming Thunder Wave, Emery made sure Duraludon was paralyzed by the current before grounding it into the permafrost.
As Duraludon twitched and groaned, barely able to move after the electric current cut through it, it could only watch as the pair of mice came back together, both of their incisors growing to threatening lengths and glowing white as they took turns charging at it. One bite after another, the two bit down with their Super Fang over and over again. The Duraludon groaned in pain as the energy-infused teeth managed to painfully sink into its metallic body over and over again, rapidly weakening it. By the time it was able to move again, M&M had managed to bite it about half a dozen times between both halves of the Tandemaus. Duraludon was barely holding onto consciousness after that and dropped its head, admitting defeat here. It was proud, not stupid, and it knew if it continued, it would be admitting more than just being outwitted by a pair of rodents and it wasn’t about to let that be something it had to deal with.
Clare watched for a moment as Duraludon stomped away before beginning to look around again.
Clare wouldn’t make it far before something caught their eye. Or rather, something caught M7M’s four eyes. Emery noticed it first, tugging on Emerson’s arm and pointing it out. There was something small-ish watching them from around a large mass of snow-covered ice not far off. The pair decided to investigate before alerting Clare and bounced off in that direction, using their usual “takes turns hopping and pulling each other” method of traveling on their own to approach the ice formation from the opposite side they had seen the small-ish form peeking out.
“Shnub…” The form muttered as it looked out. It had seen the fight with Duraludon and while it was clear Duraludon had started said fight, those rodents were going to be a problem if they thought it wanted to pick a fight as well.
“Maus.” Emery stated from behind the pink creature.
“Bull?!” The form yelped, spinning around and backing up quickly, clearly frightened for a moment.
“Hey, where’d you two go?!” Clare called out finally noticing the absence of their little rodent partner(s).
“Tan tande.” Emerson pointed out to Emery. They were pretty sure this was the Pokemon Clare wanted the two of them to keep an eye out for. Snubbull, wasn’t it?
“Maus maus tan de maus.” Emery agreed, giving the pink Pokemon a closer look. That was definitely the same thing as what Clare had showed them on the little machine they carried.
“Tan tande!” Emerson insisted. That meant they should fight!
“Shnub!” Snubbull countered, waving its forepaws back and forth. No. Definitely don’t battle. That was a terrible idea.
“Tan de maus!” M&M exclaimed together, jumping around and quickly mixing themselves up. As the two jumped around, new forms began to appear in the snow and lash out at Snubbull. Each of Clare’s other party members made an appearance as a Dark energy duplicate of them appeared one after another and hit Snubbull before the finally strike came as a tandem punch from opposite sides as Emery and Emerson appeared once more. The pair of mice gasped as Snubbull not only survived the Beat Up but practically vanished before their eyes, the easily Rattled Pokemon now faster than they could keep up with thanks to the overwhelming fear and adrenaline pushing it to move.
“Shnub bull!” The not-as-eponymus Fairy Pokemon exclaimed as it reappeared behind the two, delivering the Scariest Face it could muster. It’s attempt to put the fear of Arceus into the rodents seemed to work as the Couple Pokemon froze up momentarily. In the moment, Snubbull vanished before their very eyes once again. The vanishing bulldog shook them out of their fearful stupor and the Tandemaus began to look around. Snubbull reappeared just behind them and quickly leaned over, Licking the pair playfully rather than trying to attack properly, and vanishing again before they had fully registered they’d even been licked. It was only after Snubbull disappeared again that the pir of mice realized they had drool on their heads an dripping down onto their arms.
“Tan de….”
“Maaauuuuuus.” Ew. Ew ew ew! M&M shook their arms violently and attempted to shake their bodies in an effort to shake off the drool. Partly because of it was gross and partly because it was extremely cold to be covered in it in this freezing cold biome.
“Shnub!” Snubbull barked as it stopped running for a moment, stamping it’s feet and it stomped around in circled. “Shnub shnub bull shnubbull!” It complained as it Stomped about, throwing a Tantrum over the Tandemaus not appreciating its attempt at affection. The stomping shook the ground, many smaller rocks being thrown up from underground as it stomped around and around. Emery was hit square in the chest by one they couldn’t predict coming but Emerson managed to dodge one coming after them and began to Copycat Snubbull. The singular Tandemaus half stomped around in circled beside Snubbull, mocking it’s complaining as they threw their own mock-tantrum.
The stomping worked, however, causing the ground to shake just as much as Snubbull’s had. The much-taller Fairy-type Pokemon, however fell over from the shaking and quickly took a rock to the face. Flipping over from the force of the impact, Snubbull was struggling to get back to it’s feet when another rock came up and slammed into its stomach, knocking the wind out of the Fairy Pokemon.
“What’s going on over here?!” Clare demanded at last, stumbling a bit as they figured out where all the commotion they could hear was coming from. “Oh. My. Goodness!” They exclaimed upon spotting the Snubbull on the ground.
“M&M! Are you bullying this poor Pokemon?!” They accused thewir Tademaus.
“Tan de! “Mau mau maus!” The pair retorted, trying to explain.
“I don’t want to hear excuses. If it didn’t start the fight, then you’re being a bully.” They explained to the Tandemaus.
“Tande…” “Maus.” M&M huffed, crossing all four of their arms as Clare admonished them for their actions. They were doing what they’d been asked to do! Why were they getting in trouble for that?!
“I’m so sorry little one. They can get a little overzealous when I ask for their help… I should have kept a closer eye on them.” They apologized to Snubbul, kneeling down and reaching out to try and help it back up. “Are you ok?” They asked, pulling a pack of wet wipes from their purse and popping it open.
“Shnub… bull.” Snubbull replied softly as Clare proceeded to clean up its face a bit with the wet wipes.
“I’m glad to hear that. I was actually hoping to catch a Snubbull while I was here… What do you say. You want to come with us?” They offered. “I’ll be sure M&M don’t pick on you anymore if you do?” They offered, trying to assure the bulldog Pokemon it would be safe if it came along.
“Shnub… shnub shnubbull.” It finally announced, smiling in a strangely endearing way for a grumpy looking creature that was most jowls in the face.
“Oh, I’m glad to hear that! You don’t have to be afraid of us anymore, I promise.” Clare assured, pulling a Safari Ball they’d been given from their purse and giving the Snubbull a light tap on its forehead to press the capture button.”Oh dear… ProfessorJacq would absolutely give me a failing grade for that.” They laughed, realizing that hadn’t employed a single catching technique they’d learned over the last year in that moment. But that was ok.
