Cold Snap

As the year comes to an end, an abnormal cold snap has taken over Tendaji. The mountains of Zena are covered in a blizzard, and even the desert of Oba is feeling a bit of an abnormal chill.

He blinked and looked up from where he was reading by the fire. "Oh no, little one, not without me." It was time for a break from reading anyway and he was due to go outside. He preferred the outdoors, though it was admittedly unseasonably cold where they were and he had an ache or two which he would never admit to. He put on his outer wear and scrambled after his daughter. She despite her genetics took after him a bit in her adventurousness.

He was so proud of his kids and how protective their brothers were over them. He was fascinated with them and was eager to watch them grow and at the same time he wanted them to stay small and adorable forever so he could punch the lights out of anyone who messed with them. He was no better than their older brothers and at this stage about fifty times more dangerous being in his prime. He loved his life and as he exited he yelled to his mate that he was going out with Keket. He was probably cooking, he was a solid house mom his mate.

"That's right darling, not frozen rain." Keket was his joy, he bright moon on a starry night. She was adorable she was sweet. Her sister Asenath was studious, in tune with her body and her goals. Both of his daughters brought him great pride. Having small Isarises everywhere pleased him greatly. They even moved like him. He never tired of enjoying his family and the times and memories they all generated together. He was so fortunite that his goals had lined up with his mate's. And he was glad that Isaris's finally caved in all those long years ago and took a chance on him, making his wildest dreams possible. Children were such a blessing. He wanted them to stay small for forever. But he knew that wasn't possible. There would be more kids one day he was sure, they were too fun not to have more but for right now these were the ones who got extra spoiled.

"Feel the texture of the snow, is it wet and heavy or light and fluffy?" This would determine the kind of game they played.

"Hmm with medium crunchy snow I say we make snow angels! I'll race you, whoever makes the most to the count of 30 wins." He winked. "Are you ready? On your mark! Go!" He giggled gleefully and tossed his long body into a snow bank and proceeding to make a large snow angel.

"Come on Keket!" He encouraged her, though he was sure she would hardly need it. She was a self starter his daughter. She had enough energy she might as well be his blood. He had always been somewhat hyperactive. Though kids were energetic in general and then they became teenagers and everything went upside down and backwards. Ah, kids were fun.

Daughters were A LOT of fun. Though how many times he had his hair braided for him now had kind of gotten out of count.

He wouldnt trade this time with his daughter for all the gold in the world. She was fun and exuberant and bubbly. Asenath was a bit more serious but he figured she might end up with a rebellious streak by the time teenagerdom rolled around. However Keket was as bright as moonlight and had a zest for life unparalleled in the family. It was how he loved working with Unduru and how Isaris always kept them and the house comfortable. She spread joy.

“Hurry hurry! I will catch up!” No he wouldnt but that was besides the point. She was fast for a little munchkin. He was fast too, but he put a hesitation here and there so she would get a few more. Plus his took up a lot more space.

Oh what gifts daughters were, sons too! He loved them all so much. But they were definitely more fun small before they got moody.

He was just about to flop again when the pup came between them. "Well if you want to join little one you may." He chuckled and smiled at his daughters reaction to the young janarim. He had to admit to a certain amount of fondness himself for Deps litter of babies. There had been many. He wanted one himself and he knew the boys did too. There was just something extra special about them because they were Dep's children and he felt they owed it to their scaley brother to keep as many of his get as they could. One could not find a more loyal critter after all.

"Go get him Keket, I think he wants to play with you!" Isobeau definitely had a fondness for the little girl in particular. He loved watching little ones grow up. It never got old seeing out of young eyes for a change instead of his old jaded salty ones.

He smiled at her bright imagination. "One could look at it that way, in winter the air above us is so cold that what normally would be rain, sucked from water bodies by the sun would freeze and fall as snow. But since snow and rain come from the sky and the moon goddess is responsible for eveything good I think you could argue that they are tears of the moon." She definitely had Isaris's deep mind and more than a bit of his own adventurous spirit and more than a little of her own creativity. Her sister was physically and book smart, Keket was physical and he supposed a tad philosophical it seemed.

He threw a snowball or two for Isobeau. It was satisfying to see the critter race after the snow.

He caught his daughter and picked her up, transfering her to one arm he patted the janarim as they were a very very good familiar just like their Dad.

"Of course we can sweetheart. I'll make tea and cocoa for everyone so we get a choice, I need one for sure, its a bit brisk out here in the snow." He had furs on but their play had melted the snow a bit and he was slightly wet. Going inside and warming up after a bit of outdoor time was just what they both needed.

"Oh to be a critter and be mostly immune to the cold~" He teased Isobeau who was handling the weather much better than her thinner skinned earthling sibling.

He took his daughter in and set a pot to boiling...expecting Isaris to pop out at any moment frown at him and boot him from the kitchen.
