Originally the humble structure was a temple of Ninshuu isolated within the Land of Lightning where its followers could pray. After Yagabayal slaughtered all within she redecorated the location to her liking. It is now the base of operation for her and her ten kidnapped charges.

Ten years ago, Yagabayal smiled at the dawn of a new day. The ancient woman awoke to where she left herself last; which was the top of a formerly occupied temple of Ninshuu worshippers. There was nothing better than awakening to the scent of all of the corpses killed the day prior. Nor was there anything better than the muffled cries of the handful of individuals bound and kept alive to be forced to watch the slaughter of their kind. Their bodies littered her new home like insects crushed by a shoe. And that’s all they were to her; insects. None of these ninshuu fools understood the glory of the original magics. They would rather pretend like their goddess would keep wiping their asses and feeding them with a silver spoon. Well, today was the day when they learned that the same spoon which fed them could also give them a firm whack on the rear. And Yagabayal had so many more worthwhile plans with the new bodies she gathered from her midnight shopping spree.
As predicted, in the library of the building housed a sequence of scrolls. Yagabayal hated the pretentiousness of a scroll. What value was there in keeping all of the information in such a large binding that, in order to find something in the middle of its text, you would have to unravel it like a coil of toilet paper until you got to the part you needed? Was this truly the pinnacle of technology the major nations could agree upon in order to safehouse all of their precious information? No, the entire system was arbitrary and archaic; even for someone as old as Yagabayal. Thankfully, the witch recalled a manner in which knowledge was kept at one point. Rather than in one, long piece of parchment, it was instead a collection of smaller pieces bound with a usually leather spine. The origami clan called these parchments, “paper”, which one could believe originated from how the first origami was a woman named Paperroni Kanon. Yagabayal remembered that woman quite well. Her blood had an excellent acidic taste; like ink.
With the excitement of a child opening presents Yagabayal took the scrolls to the central place of worship and began to rip apart the scrolls to craft them into a new form. Since she needed leather to form the spine of her books, the practical woman began her book making process by skinning some of the ninshuu folks she killed the day prior. It seemed like a waste, after all, if their lives meant nothing in the grand scheme of things. Yagabayal was a kind soul after all! And their flesh, while a bit softer than she would have liked, tanned well with enough heat and cooling. Now that she had her spines, the book kind not the corpses, she got to work at waterboarding the scrolls to remove the ink which was already on them. After all, what value did she have in all of the useless information already on the scrolls? Birth records, financial spendings, family trees? Such meaningless garbage. Not worth the ink they were written on. Nor were they worth the price of the scroll paper Yagabayal hopefully housed still some flickers of magic. Eventually after a couple of soaks and dries the pages lost all of the ink which was on them. Once completed she placed the pages into the spine and used a soft amount of lightning to weld the pages in place. At last, she had her first book! And with all of the bodies having their blood congealed overnight, there was going to be plenty of ink too! Oh Yagabayal was as happy as a clam. Truly her fortunes were turning around.
Yagabayal knew, however, that she needed to be at the peak of her power if she was to make meaningful change in this world. With the threats she needed to eliminate for a better tomorrow she understood that a witch like herself was going to need some serious enchantments in addition to her tomes. Thankfully these enchantments were easy enough to make. One of them only required ten teeth from a married woman. This was easy enough to gather by scouring the myriad bodies until she found one woman with a wedding ring on her right hand. Once she collected her teeth she also took the ring since she figured it would be a good basis for one of future projects. Of course, in order to remove the ring she separated the finger from the rest of the hand. Just in case this woman became a ghost, Yagabayal needed to make sure that the ring was hers in both this life and the next. Once she had the teeth she crushed them into a fine powder. This was followed by her blending the powder with a sequence of ancient and powerful spices. Finally, with a thin cone, she snorted it through her right nostril. Instantly she felt a surge of power course through her body as the ancient magicks awoke within her. Of course, this was only the first step. If she was truly going to be a vessel worthy of saving the world from the clutches of ninjutsu, she was going to have to evoke the black arts. Such forbidden magic was necessary for a witch like herself. Not to mention, it was so much fun.
Yagabayal gathered a couple of the ingredients she needed for her next enchantment. A few of them were easy enough to find. The toenail of a priest, an eye frozen in fear, and of course blood. For the eye Yagabayal actually ripped out a couple of eye balls since every time she thought she found the winning one, another petrified face greeted her with a look desperate to be immortalized as the ocular tool sacrificed for the enrichment of all. While there were so many worthwhile contenders, she settled on a young woman who couldn’t have been older than twenty. Her eyes were of different colors, and the green one was just so delicious to look at. She almost wanted to make it into a necklace. With the final ingredient she tossed it into a cauldron and brewed counter clockwise. The blood began to boil and change color from red, to blue, and then finally black. Once it was in its ebony state Yagabayal dismissed the flames and waited for the mixture to cool enough before she took a quill out. She then filled it with the blood of the cauldron and then began to inscribe on her right shoulder the seal necessary to house the forbidden black magics. The symbol then glowed gold as it manifested itself into what a ninjutsu user would commonly call a curse mark. Of course, Yagabayal would never call it such a thing, and in her prime actively declared it as a blessing from the dark magics. She once had quite a necklace of tongues from those who dared to try and challenge her claim. Of course since her mark wasn’t natural, there was a searing pain as she used this black ritual to reignite and reinvigorate her marking. The process was painful, of course, but it was nice to feel pain again. It almost tickled to finally feel something penetrate her skin. It was electric. It was righteous.
With the seal completed Yagabayal got to work on the tomes she needed to truly carry out her work. First she needed the tongue of a virgin. While she did have an easier manner of finding this, she decided to have a bit of fun by scouring through the bodies once more to see if any of them looked like a virgin. After finding a thirtyish looking man with a bowl cut, she reasonably assumed that this man was never touched by a woman. Given that this was a religious institution it was possible that he was touched by other means, but thankfully one thing people do not respect about witchcraft is that the term ‘virginal’ applies to anyone who has not had consensual sex. After all it’s not a sin which can stain the soul unless someone willingly succumbs to the sin. And of course this was one of Yagabayal’s favorite sins. Maybe she would even do it after all of her work was done. There were so many stiff studs to choose from after all.
The next ingredient she needed was a stone bathed in moonlight. Well that was the reason why she slept on top of the temple, after all. After spending the night outside, she was able to determine which spot got the most amount of shine overnight. Once she collected the small stone she returned into the temple’s main area of worship and moved to one of the handful of survivors gagged and bound. They were also stripped naked since, not only did this assure that they had no secret weapons, but it also proved to them how lesser they were to her. After all, where was their goddess now? If they took pride in their own abilities and strove for the power forsaken all of those millennia ago then perhaps they could have stopped her from killing everyone. It was entirely their faults that they laid now exposed and helpless. Just like they always were. Well, at least they had some point. This part of the ritual required fresh blood, after all. After dancing her fingers along the survivors in an, ‘eenie, meenie, minie, mo’ manner, she settled her sinister glare on an elderly looking man. Yagabayal smiled widely as she walked over to him and used her long, dirty fingernails to claw through his skin and cause a light trail of blood to pour out of his chest. She then pressed the stone against the puncture wound and dug the rock halfway into it in order to truly get the material soaked. The man screamed through his gags, but to a witch like herself she honestly had heard better cries of agony at this point. It was almost enough to have her slit his throat right then and there. At last, to be wasteful of a living sacrifice was dangerous. Therefore, she graciously allowed the man to make his meager cries and took the stone out once it was bathed in enough of his blood. She then shoved some of his former clothes into the wound in order to prevent him from bleeding out. She was merciful, after all.
For her next component she needed the promise of two souls forever intertwined. Thankfully she already had that in the ring. Now she just needed to find the other one. This took a surprisingly long time to do. No one else seemed to have the same kind of band which the one woman had. She was almost tempted to try and find another pair, but she really liked this ring and already ripped off the finger from the corpse. She really did not feel like admitting that she wasted the effort. Therefore, with a defeated sigh she moved to one of the gagged women and removed her gag.
“Who was she married to?” Yagabayal asked as she wagged the ring inches from the crying woman’s face with the finger still attached to it. As per usual the woman was a pleading mess with pathetic cries of wishing to be spared and yadda yadda yadda. Yagabayal gave the woman a firm slap across the face to shut her up. “Children these days have no respect. When I ask a question, I expect an answer.” She said firmly. She held the ring and finger up once more. The woman did not answer, but there was a profound sorrow in how she looked at the finger and ring. Yagabayal’s eyes went wide as she was rarely surprised. Sure enough, as she sorted through the discarded remains of this woman’s clothes, she found an identical ring. “Well good for you! I wasn’t aware that your faith welcomed marriages like yours.” She said sincerely. "I'm a full supporter, by the way. Guy, girl, as long as they bend I'm down for it. And I mean, literally bend. I don't bottom." This was especially beneficial since one of the ingredients she needed was the fresh heart of a widowed soul.
Yagabayal wasted no time shoving the bound widow into her cauldron. Although she initially struggled, once the witch broke both of the woman’s legs she had no choice but to comply with being placed in the black kettle. Not only did she scream in agony over the immeasurable pain she felt, her shrieks also turned to horror as thick blood was poured around her until coming to the tip of her chin. These screams were delightful, and with a stern look she darted her eyes to the old man from before. “You see, THESE are the screams worthwhile. Do you hear her fear? Can you feel the last bits of hope dropping from her lips? That’s what it means to cry out. Do better.” She said sternly as, eventually, the crying got on her nerves. To shut the woman up she shoved the finger of her lover into the woman’s mouth and placed the gag over it to forbid her from spitting the digit out. She then tossed in the two rings as well as the bloodied moonstone. Finally the virgin’s tongue was tossed in last. Her brew was nearly complete. There was just one last piece to collect.
Yagabayal had to be patient in order for the final component to work. To this end, she carefully studied the corpses she had already mutilated for her other components. With a line of dirt she measured each leg. Once she measured the legs she went back to the elderly man and measured his leg. No matches. Yagabayal was frustrated. Now she was going to have to kill another person to get the perfect measurement. Thankfully, hope returned quite literally knocking on the front door. The witch moved forward and watched a school teacher with a handful of children gasp in horror at the blood stained, ancient woman in front of her. Yagabayal looked at the teacher and smiled. He looked just about right.
Killing the man was easy enough. Most people died when their hearts are pierced with a dagger, and this one was no different. The children were a little harder to deal with. There about twelve of them, and Yagabayal swiftly had the earth rise and captured them in a single stone cage. They cried and screamed as the caged glided along the ground and into the carnage of the temple while the woman dragged the corpse of their former teacher behind her. “Do not worry, children. I don’t make a habit of killing those who are not old enough to fight back.” She said with a wicked smirk. Her eyes flickered with a fiendish delight as she pressed her face against the bars of the cage; which caused the children to all move as far to the opposite side as possible. “In fact, I may have a use for a group such as yourself. After all, what is the point of bringing forth a new future if there are none left to prosper from the ashes of the past?” Yagabayal brought the children’s cage right next to the elderly man who was still bound.
“This man will be the stone of which we build our tower on. And for me to rise, he must live. Now children, listen close.” She said with a sickly sweetness to her voice. “As long as he’s alive, I’ll need you rascals to take care of him. If he dies, then I don't need you all anymore. Does that make sense?” She said with a little nod. The children, shaken with fear, forced themselves to nod in compliance. A wicked grin crossed her face. “I knew you would understand. Children are the future after all!” Yagabayal looked at the corpse and then the man. She then smacked her hands together. “Now let’s go make your future.”
It took Yagabayal a total of an hour to remove both the right leg of the teacher’s corpse, and the right leg of the elderly man. She only needed the legs from below the knee, and of course it was easier to pry it off a dead man than it was a living one. The way he squirmed kept causing her to have to apply even more pressure in locking it in place. Eventually, however, she severed the leg from the man. She cauterized the wound with her own fire magic in order to keep him from bleeding out. At last, she had all of her ingredients. With the two legs she peeled the flesh from bone and was left with solely two long bones. The ritual required two bones of the exact same length; one from the living and one from the dead. Now the last time Yagabayal did this ritual she used identical twins. And if she wanted to then she could have shopped around until she found a delicious pair again. But she was a busy woman, and the righteous crusade of liberation did not give her much time to be picky. Therefore, she settled with the bones she had and started the cauldron ablaze. The woman inside the cauldron screamed as she was being boiled alive in the blood of her religious cloister. Thankfully the cries were gagged by the woman’s former lover’s finger, so Yagabayal could focus well enough to inscribe her flesh bound tome with the blood from the boiling pot.
“Almighty magic which cradled our planet. I seek to be worthy of your blessings once more.” Yagabayal chanted as she proceeded with her ritual. “This planet was taken from you with the invasion of the whore, Evergreen. Her essence tainted your people, and caused magic to be locked behind their ninja ways. With the truth I harbored I dared defy fate and liberate the people. But my story ended in betrayal, as the very knights I created turned against me. Now I seek your blessings once more. Accept my humble offerings, and return to me the ring blessed with evasion. The crown, clairvoyant and wise. The robes; adorned with the gift of flight and defense. And the staff, the rod of destruction necessary to free your people from the chains of ninjutsu. Grant me your magic once more, and I will not fail again.”
The cauldron erupted in a flair of power as the screaming woman stopped flailing at last. The fire beneath the pot disbursed on its own, although its contents were still scalding. Finally, with a burst of power the metal container exploded, consuming Yagabayal in its blast. As the smoke faded, however, the woman was adorned in the garments she previously described. On her left hand was a newly forged ring ebony in color. Adorning her head was a crown forged of black gold with three glorious beads of cat’s eye. She was now clothed in coal black, arcane robes with subtle wing patterns along them. Finally, in her right hand was a long black staff forged from two bones welded together. With a smile on her face she then snapped her fingers. The ring transformed into a black spider which crawled along her hand and down her sleeve. The crown transformed into a black cat which leapt from her head and onto the ground in front. The arcane robes transformed into a raven colored Owl which perched itself on Yagabayal’s right shoulder. Finally the staff transformed into a dark scaled python which slithered up her arm and then around her neck. She had done it. She proved to the ancient forces that she was worthy of one last try.
Yagabayal took this moment to truly reflect on her journey. Yes, it was old hat to murder and torture. That was her bread and butter after all. At the same time, there was something fulfilling about this opportunity. Back when she was the infamous mad mage, she fought with fury but lacked a grander purpose. Yes she wanted to return the world to its rightful state of arcane superiority, but with how self-centered it was, she knew that one of the reasons why she lost was because she wasn’t trying to make the world better for others; only herself. But now that was different! Now she had clarity of what kind of world would come next. Now she had children who she would shape into her better tomorrow. And a few of them would probably die, sure. She might even kill a few herself since she was feeling quite peckish, and these kids were at just the right age where they still had enough fat to be a satisfying meal. But at the same time, these are the children who will become the next generation of mages. They will reclaim a world stolen from them for over ten thousand years. Shew knew that now was the only chance she would ever get to liberate these children. With Evergreen at her weakest state, and Kohyru still within her tainted grasp, she had the means of silencing the last of the divine who had created slaves out of the masses. She had her focus and she had her destination. Now all that was left was the journey.
“Now then! Let’s be gone children!” She said excitedly. As she made her way back to the cage, however, she realized that she still had approximately five more naked survivors from last night's escapades. “Oh, right.” She said with a roll of her eyes. She could kill all of them, but where’s the fun in that? Instead, just as she did with the wound selection, she danced her fingers along the survivors until she landed on a middle aged woman. She moved over to her and squatted in front of the bound woman. “You’re lucky. I need one person to tell the story of what’s happened here.” She said with a shrug of her shoulders. “After all, if no one knows what happened, then how will my reputation grow? I need a survivor, and you’re it! But I don’t need the others.” Yagabayal dropped a dagger in front of the woman. “If you want to be the survivor, then I need you to earn it. Free yourself, then kill the others. Help them, and I kill you and offer the same deal to them. Attack me, and there are worse things than death.” She said sternly. “Tick tock, my dear! It’s best if you do not try my patience.” She then moved from the person and watched the woman in front of her maneuver the dagger so that she could grasp it. Once she freed herself of her restraints and her gag she looked at the others and then at Yagabayal. The witch gestured to her wrist to imply that time was ticking. The woman cried as she kneeled to another survivor. This one being a boy in his late teenage years. She hesitated with the dagger. Yagabayal was about to kill her when, at last, she struck the boy down. She shrieked in horror as she stabbed on and on until the body stopped flailing. Yagabayal took a sinister delight as the woman did so to the rest of the survivors. When she was done the witch honored her promise and allowed the naked woman to leave. Once she was gone she then turned to the children. “Well, time to make this place a worthy home for a new family. Get to cleaning! If there’s any blood left on my floor by sunfall then there'll be no dinner.” She said as the stone cage fell around them. “And remember! Keep that old man alive.” She said as she left the room and headed back to the roof of her new home. She watched over and smiled at her new territory. This, she thought, was where history would record the first movement of freedom. This will be recorded as the place where magic was founded once more.
Over the next ten years Yagabayal spent all of her time turning the former Ninshuu temple into a home worthy of a witch like herself. The first thing she needed, of course, was expansion. After all, this temple was designed to simply be a place of religious worship. While there was a very impressive open space, it needed more rooms, more beds, more everything! And Yagabayal had children now for goodness sake! She wasn’t going to make them sleep in cages every day. Just days they deserved it. No, in order to facilitate the base she wanted, she began using her earthen ninjutsu to form large expansions. Rooms were shifted and carved along in order to turn this modest temple into a glorified castle. The earth rose to her demands to create walls, manifest furniture, and create a massive moat along the perimeter of the castle for the aesthetic. Yagabayal wondered if she should fill the moat with sharks or crocodiles. Sharks felt more intimidating, but crocodiles were so much more delicious to eat. Therefore, she decided on crocodiles. Of course, with every new creation made, she had the children paint the new structures thoroughly. She wasn’t some simpleton, after all. Everything had to look gorgeous for a witch as beautiful as herself! Eventually, Yagabayal also hired a decorator and contractor to provide windows and carpeting. Stone floors were annoying to walk on, after all. She even allowed him to live after he finished his work! He instead has been held captive and acts as glorious entertainment in the lewditorium. After all, a man who knows interior design should not be wasted as a meal or a corpse.
On that topic, Yagabayal was proud of how well the children matured! Well, ten of the children at least. Sure enough, there was one who tried to defy her a couple of years back. It always happens with children. Once they get a taste of power; they believe they have a right to challenge authority. Well, to make her point, Yagabayal made quite an example of the young lady who dared defy her. She honestly lost count of how many pieces she carved out of her flesh. Nor could she keep track of how many amputations she performed to break the body down piece by piece. She did remember, however, that after two months of this torture it then took a whole week to finally track down where all of the pieces of her went. She had the remaining children watch each and every day; constantly. She also had the children clean up all of the pieces of their former colleague. Many hands make light work after all. That was how one died, and the other was unfortunate in that Yagabayal was hungry. She knew that she should have eaten something else, but the kids were just starting to turn the age when they would no longer have any flavor to them. And honestly, what kind of woman would she be if she didn’t introduce to the other kids the glorious taste of a young soul? Of course she kept most of the portions for herself, but each child got a glorious bowl of their former friend. Yagabayal was truly surprised, however, at how little her charges liked the flavor. The experience left a profound impact on her, and caused her to better herself through the art of culinary practices.
Yagayabal was a very talented chef. She could make more recipes with a human heart than even her mother knew what to deal with! She knew because she made a beautiful tartar out of her own mother’s heart. Unfortunately, the children under her care did not really have a taste for mortal flesh. It was disappointing to her, as she wanted these children to inherit the world and all of the glory it had. Unfortunately, while she initially tried to stubbornly refuse to cook anything else and allowed her charges to go days without eating, when it was clear that they would not break, Yagabayal sighed and began construction on a kitchen. In this kitchen she stored it with all sorts of greens and vegetables. Children liked vegetables, right? She was desperate enough to give it a try, and sure enough, the children started eating them! Yagabayal sighed in great relief at this accomplishment. After all, it would have taken a long time to capture a whole new group of children and get them compliant enough to not try and run at every opportunity. Yagabayal hated how long it took the children to learn what was good for them. To help with that process, however, she did force the kids to sleep in caged rooms without access to bodily waste disposal, which forced them for days to deal with the gagging smell of their own waste. That definitely helped them become more appreciative of all of the kind things that Yagabayal brought into their lives! And on the topic of kindness, the ancient woman also began to cook up other meats aside from crocodiles and human flesh. She was impressed with how much more the children ate once she started bringing in chickens and cows. She was even delighted when the children took part in the ritualistic practices of slaughtering the livestock! A genuine, warm smile crossed Yagabayal’s face as the children hoisted a cow upside down and then bathed collectively in its blood. She was so proud. And then they all ate the meal together! Yagabayal prepared the meal, obviously. While the children were being well taught how to murder, they were still too young at this point to safely use a stove. Yagabayal didn’t want any unfortunate situations where the children accidentally burned themselves. She would much rather use burning as a proper torture method to extract better results. The children also took a strange interest in dairy; in particular milk and cheese. Yagabayal honestly found the process disgusting. After all, it was the byproduct of cows! She was flabbergasted with why children would actively choose a cow’s milk over a child’s liver. It just did not connect to her. Nevertheless, her little scoundrels listened more intently when there were promises of the sweetened and frozen form of milk, which the children called, “Eye Scream”? The product looked nothing like an eye, and definitely did not cause any screams worthy of Yagabayal’s ears. But, for some reason it was a huge hit with the kids, and the witch was able to make it. Of course, if the children wanted eye scream, then they needed to work for it. For example, one such challenge she awarded the child who successfully tortured one of the Ninshuu retaliationist who were more present back when Yagabayal began this whole ordeal, but now only makes an attack every six months or so. It was so delightful how creative the children got. She couldn’t sleep as she giggled at all of the screams her charges pulled from the survivors for days at a time. This work inspired Yagabayal into creating more incentives for positive rewards. The whole ordeal was quite a growing experience. In her own livelihood she believed only pain could properly teach. But with these children, she was learning that, with a powerful enough incentive, that the reward of obtaining the goal can also result in significant effort! All of this was learned by simply changing a recipe.
When Yagabayal stole these children, they were around the ages of eight to ten. Now, ten years later, the younglings have blossomed into teenagers and even young adults! When she took them in, however, she had to give them all new names. The children were tainted by the touch of ninjutsu, after all, and even their names dripped of that wretched influence. So the first name she gave was to a young girl with soft pink hair. In order to connect her back with nature, she bestowed the girl the name Fuchsia. To this one she assigned her to be a warrior, since she saw that the girl was going to be small, and thus easy for enemies to underestimate. To help facilitate her growth, she assigned her a training regime for sixteen hours a day, seven days a week. Fuchsia only failed her routine once, and never needed a second reminder. She still had scars from that failure, such as a large gash from a whip across her back. The next child she named was a young boy with soft, brown hair. To this child she gave the name Hyacinth, and had him train in the arts of subterfuge and seduction. She did this to the boy since she saw how trustworthy his face looked, and thus knew that he was going to be a phenomenal manipulator. Once the boy got to be a proper age in addition to his work ethic, he was expected to seduce one of his sisters or brothers a week. Failure to do so would have him spend a weekend in the lewditorium, where Yagabayal would have her designated torturer teach him new ways to utilize the gear in that room. Speaking of which, her designated torturer took the form of a young man with black hair she named Lupin. The reason why she gave this role to the young man was because he had a proclivity in taming animals which stumbled out of the woods which surrounded the castle. With his talents in taming nature, she figured that he was a perfect choice to deal with those who were captured and required interrogation. Still, to keep the boy on his toes, she expected new and creative forms of torture every week. Failure to supply resulted in her showing him a new form in a very unfortunate manner. After settling down the offensive children, Yagabayal started to divvy out some defensive roles. For her sentry to keep vigilance from her newly crafted watchtower she gave the name Basil. This young man had blond hair which had streaks of green to it which matched his eyes. The moment she looked into those eyes she saw perception sharper than a dagger’s edge. Of course, to test him, Yagayabal constantly had her summons try and hide from his watchful gaze. Basil was quite perceptive, but when he failed Yagabayal punished him with forty eight hour shifts where if he closed his eyes once, an iron nail was shoved into his body. Eventually with enough nails he learned how to keep a better watch. On the topic of doing a better job, for Yagabayal’s prodigy in the field of research she gave the young boy the name of Sorrel. This teal headed boy was perfect not because of his natural talents, but how he learned to survive. For example, since he took longer than others to learn how to read, in order to compensate he became quite proficient in stealing other children’s work. This validated Yagabayal’s choice in giving him a cushier job, since it meant that he was willing to do whatever it took to get results. On the topic of results, Yagabayal knew that she was going to have to have one of the children work under her as disciplinarian and rule enforcer. After all, their crafty minds would eventually learn how to manipulate even someone as wise and powerful as herself. Therefore, having a rule enforcer outside of the torturer was essential To that end, she assigned this sacred duty to a young girl with cherry hair, which she named Rose. Rose was excellent at her job. The moment another child struggled to meet their deadlines Rose swooped in and made sure results were met. To that end she ended up becoming quite a versatile talent, as she dabbed herself in a little of everything in order to ensure results were gathered. Yagabayal had a soft spot for those who were such go-getters. It was for this reason that she allowed the woman to dress herself, as opposed to all of the other children who were strictly regulated by her by what they could and could not look like. She wasn’t going to have any slops after all. To further assist with management, Yagabayal assigned the role of financial management to a young blond girl she named Poppy. Poppy had a talent for numbers. And she also was quite clever in checking the bodies of slain Ninshuu worshippers to find anything worth selling. In order to better harvest these corpses for all they were good for, Poppy became well versed in medical practices. She began selling the organs to nearby villages. Yagabayal was incredibly impressed once Poppy learned how to sever these vital organs from still living patients. As time passed, however, one of the children that she took a shine to was a young girl with purple hair named Violet. Initially, Violet was a child Yagabayal had great difficulty with. She was someone who constantly pushed for non-violent answers to conflicts. Because of this, Yagabayal tried at first to pressure her out of this weakness by forcing her to take guidance under Lupin in torture training. As she watched her interact with the hostages, however, she truly understood the young lady’s talent for words. She was able, somehow, to get information out of them without ripping flesh from their bones! Instead she made empty promises about letting them live and promising to let their families know what happened to them. Over time, Yagabayal eventually respected the woman’s craft enough to allow her to work alongside Lupin as the chief interrogator. After Violet, Yagabayal had a young lady of white hair named Peony be in charge of daily maintenance. It was her duty to make sure the halls were cleaned, the kitchen was stacked, the torture equipment was wiped of blood, the daily needs. Peony was the child Yagabayal was surprised by the most. Even when she was first kidnapped she didn’t make any fuss or noise. She didn’t object to her new name, and never once stepped a toe out of line. It was honestly a little frustrating, since without her stepping out of line Yagabayal, for some reason, felt guilt when she applied any additional torture to the woman. The witch could not explain why, but she did wonder if she could utilize that in the future for a manipulation tool. Finally was her dear boy, Fennel. Fennel was an orange haired boy of moderate height. He was borderline the exact opposite of Peony. Every chance he got he was defiant to Yagabayal. He never actively fought her after the incident with the one child who the witch already forgot the name of, but there was always a look in his eye which told her that, the moment he could, that he would kill her. Yagabayal liked that intensity, and for this reason made this child her personal caretaker. She had him change her chamber pot, wash her when it was bath time, and peel her grapes when it was time to take a well deserved break. She also treated him the worst, forcing him to wear only the barest of clothing to appear decent in front of company, having him eat from a dog bowl on the floor, and having him with a collar on at all times. She was adamant that, over these ten years, this young man would break. Despite this, that look never faltered from his eyes. In fact, while she would never admit it, Fennel was one of her strongest children. To this end in his personal room in the barracks she has repurposed the room for keeping the young man chained and bound. There was no doubt that Fennel was her ultimate trump card. She just had to make sure the boy was never used against her.
As she expected, all of her children turned into professional mages. Not a single one needed to use a tainted handsign in order to perform their magic. Although they could not yet use the truest form of the arcane, the young ones were still able to manifest various elements. In addition, several of them excelled beyond those parameters. The first one who excelled to earn her own room in the barracks was Fuschia. It was around her fifteenth birthday when the young woman successfully severed a dozen Ninshuu warrior heads with a single strike of her sword. The second to excel through his training was Hyacinth. Over time the young man perfected his seduction to such a talent that he trained himself to appear more masculine or feminine through the use of genjutsu. In addition to his illusionary charm, he was also one of the most beautiful young men the old hag had ever laid eyes on. There was even a part of her which felt compelled to test his body for herself, but ultimately she decided that it wouldn’t be fair to him to have the glory of a woman such as himself. After all, how would he be able to be satisfied with anything else? Lupin was another young man who managed to earn his promotion. It was a good thing too, as with all of the animals he started to accrue, she practically needed to make his barracks space into a glorified zoo in order to house them all. Of course Yagabayal threatened to cook half of them if he failed his duty, and did just that when he did not meet his weekly quota. Nevertheless, at any point of time his personal barracks housed anywhere from four to twelve animals, and each one trained by Lupin to be proficient pain bringers. While Basil never matched the combat prowess to earn his own quarters, he ultimately did manage to make a home for himself in the WatchTower he occupied. As he progressed his skills he even managed to learn an assortment of sensory powers necessary to keep the castle secured from outside threats. Yagabayal loved to challenge the perceptive boy. She constantly had her summons try to trick and break his senses. It was truly a day of honor when he was able to catch the hag herself. On that day Yagabayal gave him the privilege of bathing by himself, as opposed to having to wait for when he would bathe with his brothers and sisters. It was a privilege he still had to this day. One individual who quickly needed her own barracks was Poppy and her medical malpractice. While there were plenty of places to carve a ninshuu worshipper, Poppy pleaded for her own place so that she could sterilize as much as she could the materials she harvested from them. Overall, once the young lady got her own space, she became quite a proficient good witch. She even learned some of the ancient magics Yagabayal chose to ignore since they failed to kill people in flashy ways. Finally, the last two individuals who earned their own barracks were Rose and Fennel. Rose, of course, proved her efficiency time and time again. Her barracks were neat and organized with all of the various tasks her siblings needed to perform daily. Yagabayal was impressed with how diligent and well she utilized the space. Not to mention there was no one quicker with her fist than this woman. Fennel, meanwhile, took to the elemental magics. This did not surprise the witch given how he was her personal prodigy, but what did surprise her was how efficient he got in his craft. Each spell was fired flawlessly and without hesitation. If he was gifted with all of the elements like she was, then perhaps he could even prove himself to be a worthy fight. At least for a couple of hours before Yagabayal got bored. Even still, he was a tad too powerful for her liking, which was again why his barracks were more of a prison than they were a home. Aside from her honor guard, while the other three were still quite skilled, Sorrel, Peony, and Violet simply had a group room to themselves in the barracks. The bed in the room was only large enough for two of them to fit on, which was a reward they earned for successfully meeting their quota. Despite the incentive she created, however, the witch eventually learned that Peony chose to sleep on the floor so that the other two could share the bed. She wondered if the other two were having some sort of relationship on the down low, or if Peony was truly that apathetic. She almost wondered about getting a second bed for their closet of a room to see if she would sleep in it then. Of course, to provide another bed would be to reward less than excellent effort. While these children performed their tasks remarkably, there was still room to be exceptional like their siblings obtained. For this reason she thought it best to let sleeping dogs lie.
Of course, not everything was sunshine and rainbows. The Ninshuu worshippers tried many times in the past to reclaim their sacred temple. Originally, Yagabayal made a grand theatrical display when she assassinated these folks. She would hang the survivors from the walls of her castles with nails and shackles and then had them slowly drained of blood to their deaths. She also was a huge fan of keeping their skulls decorated along the fenced parameter of her sanctuary. This was done not only as a warning to the rest of the religious faction, but also to teach her charges what it meant to intimidate the opposition. Any organization which can rally itself, after all, is a threat to whatever plans Yagabayal worked fiendishly for. Over time, however, Yagabayal found herself simply just killing the ninshuu ninja instead of making a display out of them. The reason for this became two fold. The first is that as the numbers started to dwindle in masses, Yagabayal struggled to chase the highs she felt when she had entire armies barking like dogs and begging to be fed kibble in return for their lives. The second factor, however, surprised her at her core; how efficient her charges became. Like their mentor, the children learned effective and brilliant means of causing harrowing screams from those who dared invade their castle. Poppy and Lupin in particular were masters at the craft of cruel and unusual punishment. The amount of things Lupin has done with his hostages and the animals under his care at times even had the witch shocked at the levels of depravity. And the manner Poppy kept a body alive to extract everything of value from it was nothing short of revolutionary. Over time, ultimately, Yagabayal took more delight in seeing how her charges ruined the Ninshuu ninja than she did from her own work. It was strange; watching these children become the future she always wanted. On one hand, she felt like she lost a part of herself. She was, after all, not the mad maniac extracting the last breaths of all who dared defy her. On the other hand, however, she was impressed with her little coven. None of them hesitated anymore with taking a life to defend themselves. Not even Violet, even though she still tried to spare those she could. That foolish girl. But at the same time, Yagabayal found herself endeared to the idiosyncrasies of her charges. For example, she loved the soft tone Rose to herself with when she was mentally checking off her myriad list. She began to learn the names of all of Lupin’s various pets. She was relieved that he gave them appropriately wiccan names, and did not try to sneak any ninja names among the animals. Finally, even Fennel her problematic fave was one she found herself endeared to more. She even allowed him, once, to go unpunished for an attempt on her life. Of course to the other children when she caught the young man in the act she acted like she was going to make a grandiose display of cruelty and violence. All she ended up doing, however, was locking the young man in his room for a week with only minimal food. Ten years ago she would have carved from his flesh a pound for every minute she spent training him. Now, however, she felt charmed by him. Charmed by the bloodlust in his eyes to see her dead. It was beautiful in a sick, poetic way. All of the children had their merits which caused Yagabayal to take more of a passive role, and instead prioritized what needed to happen in order to bring the death of ninja kind and deliver upon her and her children the future she had fought fiercely for the past ten years. And in that way Yagabayal did exceptional work in honing her own craft. She carved spells so powerful and deadly that they made her old tricks look like school children cantrips. Overall, Yagabayal learned that, if she is going to make this world for her charges, then they need to contribute as well. And over these past ten years she learned how to truly treasure what they contributed. It was almost enough to make her regret eating one of them. Almost.
There was one time, however, which forced Yagabayal to confront how much she cared about her charges. It was after a rain filled night, and the morning dew brewed itself into a soft fog which covered about half way the length of the castle parameter’s stone fence. Yagabayal was not the first to detect the threat, Basil was. The moment the young man sensed the threat, however, he knew something was wrong. For one, it was not a small militia sized force as per usual. It was instead a single individual, who looked anywhere from mid to late twenties. She had a pillow of prismatic hair which was pulled back into a ponytail. She wore a militarized assortment of leathers and ninshuu robes. And her chakra was something Basil had never sensed. There were the familiar traces of nature chakra which most of the elite members of this accursed religion utilized. But within her was something else. Although they were after traces of something long since gone, it was clear that it was the power of something ancient. Something celestial. The woman opened her hand and extended like, claw like talons as she stood just outside the moat.
“I call for the one who named herself Yagabayal. I aim to take no more lives but hers.” She said in a casual tone. Although she did not shout, the elderly woman still appeared on the rim of her gate. As she did, all of her charges showed up one by one. At this point they were all nearly hitting the point of adulthood. Yagabayal raised her hand, however, to keep them from making an attack. After all, this woman so nicely asked for her specifically. “You called for me, and so I appeared. Spare me this talk of taking my life. At this point I have slain so many of your faith I am surprised your sermons are still in practice. If Evergreen really wants me dead, then she can do it herself.” The woman said with a roll of her eyes. While the initial theatrics were entertaining, she hated when these peons thought they were worthy of taking her life. The woman did not snap at the bait, however. Instead jewel-like eyes shone and locked on to the ancient woman.
“Yagabayal. The Mad Witch. Bane of the Ninshuu way.” The warrior said. Yagabayal acted like she was being flattered as she fluttered her eyelashes and blew a kiss. The woman once again continued. “You have slaughtered our people in masses. You have displayed them in horrific and humiliating ways. And you have stolen our children. Two of which have already perished under your tyrannical way.” Yagabayal stopped playing coy as the woman spoke about her charges. For some reason the words stirred some deeper form of malic the witch was not accustomed to feeling. “You have robbed these ten souls of a life with love and prosperity. You have stolen them from the gentle embrace of the Queen Goddess. You have made a home for yourself in the darkest pits of hell. And it is my job to make sure you find your way home. I will avenge my kind and liberate your slaves from their captor.”
Yagabayal’s face contorted into sadistic fury. She DARED call her a slaver? That her charges needed liberation? SHE was the liberator. SHE saved these children from falling into the same trappings which hold hostage the rest of the world. Yes, two of them did die. Yes, one of them was eaten by her. But what’s an omelet without a few broken eggs?! The glory of life was that everyone had the opportunity to both live and die! But this figure didn’t care about living. It was clear in her taunts. No, she wanted to die. She wanted to have a long, pulsing, agonizing death. She wanted to have hooks pulled through her flesh and then pulled back to reveal all of the muscles just beneath the surface. Yagabayal was going to give her EXACTLY what she was asking for. She was a generous soul, after all.
“You will avenge nothing, you ignorant child!” Yagabayal said with her voice cackling into a howl. With one wave of her hand all of her summons appeared to her and adorned their transformed states. The woman hovered above her gate as she aimed her staff at the intruder. “I will rip out your vocal box and turn it into a kazoo!” She shouted as lightning erupted from the tip of her staff. The ninshuu warrior did not panic, but simply used her claw hand to deflect the blast as she then swiftly leaped forward to swipe at the witch. Yagabayal was too quick for such blatant strikes, however. As soon as the woman got close, she found herself constricted by a claw formed out of the air around them. The hand then tossed the woman with enough force that she broke through the stone gates. Only, as soon as the dust settled on the thrown woman, she disbursed into a cloud of smoke; revealing herself to be a shadow clone. Yagabayal barely had enough time to raise the earth into a single pillar which shielded her from another strike by this woman. The woman’s claw effortlessly broke through the stone with no damage to her nails.
“You have fought my brethren. Now watch as I, Imoiran, end this.” The woman said as she disappeared into a body flicker like movement. “Good at running are you? Let’s give you something to run from then.” Yagabayal taunted as her ring hand rose and the water beneath them formed into a massive cauldron. Tendrils of water shot in all directions as each one collided into an after image instead of the original target. When the witch finally had a lock on her target she tried to intercept the invader with a giant construct of fire in the shape of a jack-o-lantern. Yagabayal thought herself quite clever as well when she slipped into the fire a genjutsu which would lock the woman in place once she saw it. Unfortunately, the woman was one step ahead, and with another body flicker appeared right in front of Yagabayal. The wings of Keeper’s shield tried to form, but Imoiran used another hand to keep the shield at bay.
“Got you.” Imoiran said soundly. With her free hand she delivered a punch straight into Yagabayal’s gut. The pain was more intense than anything anyone has ever managed to land on her. It instantly knocked Keeper out of his arcane robes and disbursed him into a puff of smoke. Not only that, but the force behind the strike rocketed Yagabayal straight into the ground below them. Although the witch managed to conjure wind to break the impact, she still coughed an immense amount of blood as she rose to her feet. “You miserable child.” She said as she rose to her feet. Imoiran landed thirty feet in front of her, and for the first time a smirk crossed her face.
“Does it hurt? To know that now, after all of your wickedness, that there is finally someone who can deliver the karma you so righteously deserve?” Imoiran said softly. Yagabayal spat in her direction. “Hardly. You don’t change the world without making a few enemies along the way.” The witch retorted. “No. I know your kind. The folks who gain just enough power to scratch the surface of true potential. The ones who actually could make a difference. But then they don’t. Because the system works for you. Because you were rewarded for being a dutiful lapdog. You are the filth that I spent my whole, unnaturally long life defying. And you are what I have trained my children to never be like.”
“YOUR children?” Imoiran said, shocked. Her eyes narrowed on the battered hag. “They are not yours, harlot! They will never be yours.” She said sharply. Yagabayal’s face turned beet red. “Shut up.” The witch said. Imoiran did not. “Are you truly so crazy as to think that you have any right to their lives? You stole them. You kidnapped them from their families and homes. And you killed two of them! You are a monster, Yagabayal.” “I am a liberator!” Yagabayal snapped back. She crackled with raw, unfiltered chakra. Her curse mark spiraled and bled across her body and from her seal. “Now die!” She shouted as lightning once more streamed from her staff. Only, lightning not only fired from her staff, but also her crown, and her ring. The woman raised her claws to block the strikes. She pushed against the force of the beams and progressed forward. “DIE!” Yagabayal commanded. No matter how much chakra she poured, however, the woman kept pushing. Her curse mark intensified. It was about to transform her when, in a breakneck pace, the woman broke from the collision and sliced acrossed Yagabayal. In one strike her staff, ring, and crown were all struck as the summons disbursed at the same time. Yagabayal readied her own spell, but she was too late. Imoiran readied back her claw, and she was about to strike through to the witch’s heart. Yagabayal recognized what was about to happen, and merely closed her eyes to await death.
Only death did not come.
Yagabayal felt blood not hers fall onto her body. She opened her eyes and, in horror, looked at the white haired young woman in between herself and her assailant. Peony took the strike aimed to end Yagabayal’s life. And now Peony’s life poured away in front of the witch. Imoiran pulled back her clawed hand as she saw where her attack found purchase. “Traitor! Why did you intercept my attack?” The woman asked the nearly dead girl in front of her. Before she could get any sort of answer, however, the entire path the invader stood in erupted into flames. Fennel, with the glare of death usually reserved only for Yagabayal, now had his sights on Imoiran. Rose and Fuschia rushed in to push her back further as several of Lupin’s animals joined alongside him to force the woman off of their perimeter. Finally, as the woman landed away, her mind was plagued by powerful genjutsu visions by Hyacinth. The five stood at the gate as Poppy quickly rushed to Peony’s side. Green medical magic poured from her as she moved to mend what she could.
“So this is it then? You have given your support to your slaver?” Imoiran questioned sharply. Her mind was still plagued by genjutsu, which left her struggling to keep her composure. Rose stepped forward as she often did to assert control. “Whether or not you were our ally in the past is no longer relevant. Be gone or else we will make you go.” She said coldly. Imoiran sighed as she disappeared into a body flicker. Meanwhile, Yagabayal’s shaking hands held the dying young lady in front of her. Peony’s face looked so peaceful. It appeared like she was asleep. “Poppy… You can fix this… right Poppy?” Yagabayal asked softly. Her lower lip trembled. For the first time in a thousand years, she felt tears form in her eyes.
“What do you need to fix this, Poppy?” Yagabayal asked. Poppy remained silent. “What do you need?!” The witch shrieked. Poppy’s hands lowered as the green magic faded. “Why did you stop?” Yagabayal said belligerently. “Mistress Yagabayal... The art of healing is not the art of resurrection.” Poppy said. She then gave her keeper a hard, stoic look. “Don’t say that. Don’t you say that!” Yagabayal snapped. Her eyes reflected a wrathful fury. “If you give up on her I swear… I swear…” Yagabayal’s words shook. She couldn’t even think of a threat. All she could think of is the child dying in front of her. The child who never complained, who slept on the floor so her siblings could have the bed, the woman who kept her world tidy.
“Go into the house and get my spell book.” Yagabayal instructed. She then shouted the same command in order to get the medic to move her a**. When Poppy returned the others started to circle the witch and their captive sibling. Yagabayal haphazardly threw the book open and nearly ripped the pages as she skimmed through the content. “Ah! Here, here.” The witch said. “Alright. I need a bouquet of flowers which have all grown from the corpses of slain foes, soil from the bottom of a moon well, and the blood of the wounded.” Yagabayal gave the children a stern look. “Did I stutter? MOVE!” She shouted. The nine disbursed as Yagabayal started to collect her own blood. She normally hated to use her own blood for spells. It made concentration harder. At this moment, however, she did not care. In a blur her children returned to her. Four gathered the flowers while the other five came back with buckets of dirt.
“Lay her out!”Yagabayal commanded as the children gently placed their friend along the ground. The witch took basket after basket and scattered the dirt along the young woman. When she was completely buried she took the flowers and started to crush them into a mold. “Oh mighty mother of dawn. Sister to the daughter of night.” Yagabayal chanted as she worked on the spell. She had never performed this ritual. Healing magic was the power of good witches. Yagabayal knew what she was. Took delight in what she was. The one thing Imoiran was right about was that Yagabayal was a monster. Despite this, she had to try and save Peony. “From the mortal plane I speak to thee. There is one soul on the precipice of death which tips ever forward in your direction. In the name of the ancient magics, I ask that you honor the bond of witch and soul, and return her to me!” Yagabayal slathered the mold in an arcane sigil along the soil. She then took her blood and began to drip it along the symbol.
“Audiat clamores puellae veneficae et cronae. Redeat ad domum suam. Redeat ad suos amores.” Yagabayal chanted long and hard over the spell. She continued to drip blood as she chanted a second time. When she chanted a third time, however, she let out a gut piercing screech. “Give me back my daughter you b***h!” She shouted far and wide through the heavens. She fell to her knees. Tears now fell far and hard from her face. “Give her back.” Regret seeped through her. She should have bought Peony the stupid bed. She should have given her more breaks, even though she never asked for them. She should have asked why she didn’t hate her like all of the other children did. She should have given her more eye scream. Yagabayal cried loudly. She cried hideous, ugly tears. And, alongside her, her children cried as well. It was the first time Yagabayal did not revel in the tears of others. Some sought comfort in each other while others cried alone. Yagabayal gripped the dirt in front of her.
“I will do anything. Just give her back.” She begged. She cried for a bit longer. Then, something strange fell over her. Her hands glowed with a strange, golden light. It was different from her normal magic. It was unnatural. It was from something else. Someone else. The symbol along the dirt began to glow. All of the sudden, the glowing warmth started to burn something fierce. “Agh!” She screeched as she felt her life essence be pulled from her. Soon this glow consumed her entire body, and she felt herself being pulled away at the very seams of existence. And yet, as she felt her life force be siphoned into the soil. Even further, she could feel herself become interwoven with Peony. Yagabayal’s eyes closed as she entered a white, empty landscape where just herself and Peony stood.
“Mistress Yagabayal. I… don’t understand.” Peony said, confused. Yagabayal forced a grin through her crippling pain. “What… did you think death was going to allow you to get away from me?” The witch asked half-joking. Peony shook her head. “I did not die to escape you. I died to protect you.” She answered. Even though the apathetic manner which the young girl spoke with confused her. “Why did you die for me, Peony?” Yagabayal asked. She then laughed harshly. “That’s not even your name. I named you Peony. Imoiran was right. You had a name, a family, and a home before me. Before I captured you and the others. I forced you through pain and agony. You had every right to let me die. Hell, you could have just stabbed me in the back while I was distracted.”Yagabayal felt tears form once more. Not from the pain, but from her guilt. “So why? Why did you save me?”
Peony crossed the empty nothing between them and pulled Yagabayal into a long, deep hug. It was the first time Yagabayal could remember being embraced. “Because you cared, that’s why.” She said softly. “We don’t get to choose who cares for us. Or how they care. We just have to remember that, if they care, if they help, then they are our family.” Peony began to brush the ragged bundle of hair tightly bound on her head. It felt like straw. “You wanted to make a better world for us. You saw us and wanted to save us. But in the end, I think we saved each other. We have a world to rebuild, and it cannot end with you sacrificing yourself to save me.” Peony pulled away from Yagabayal as the witch felt the connection between the two of them start to sever. Yagabayal tried to reach out, but Peony took another step back. “Wait! Let me save you.” Yagabayal pleaded. Peony smiled widely.
“You already have.”
Everything faded to white as Yagabayal opened her eyes. The other nine circled around her and murmured along themselves as she stood up. Her face was buried in the dirt, although when she lifted it, she noticed how soft the dirt felt. No, it wasn’t the soil which was soft, but her face. All of the wrinkles were ironed out of her! Her face felt as soft as a baby’s bottom! Not only that, but she looked at her mangled, gnarly fingers. They were refurbished! All of her beautiful, ancient age was stolen from her. She was cursed by the magic she tried to perform. And it didn’t even save Peony. Yagabayal was about to turn away and head to the castle when she saw the soil beneath her move. Without a second thought Yagabayal poured her magic into the ground and forced the soil away. Her eyes widened wide, however, when she looked down at the slain woman. Her wound was nearly mended in full as her eyes softly fluttered open.
“Mistress… Yagabayal?” Peony asked. Yagabayal fell to her knees. The others rushed along the ground to embrace their fallen comrade; risen once more. They each took turns embracing and greeting her. When it was Yagabayal’s turn, she was almost at a complete loss of words. However, five words came to her lips. She was genuinely surprised at how childlike they were. “Let’s get some eye scream.”
That was the moment Yagabayal realized that her coven meant more to her than the future of her craft. These children, for better and for worse, were her children. Since then, she had given out less extreme punishments for getting things wrong. She also went out of her way to make sure that the children all had proper breaks when needed. She even clothed Fennel! The young man still had to wear his collar, however. And every once in a while when he was particularly feisty he may still have to return to his kennel and sleep in restraints. But overall, she was happier when she was around the children. Of course, the hideous curse still afflicted her, and it resulted in a diamond-like marking along her forehead. She knew that it was going to take serious magic to return to her beautiful, ancient form. But that was a journey she was ready to go on. Not only to give her children the future they deserved, but also a future where she was in their lives with them. All it needed was the destruction of the ninja society. All it needed was the death of ninjutsu.

Although the day ended with the victory of her dear Peony surviving, there were still two problems which existed in Yagabayal's world. The first was that Imoiran, the Ninshuu assassin who broke through Yagabayal's best efforts, still lived and posed a problem for her. The second was that her beautiful, wrinkled face was now his horrible, youthful exterior! Every time the woman looked into a mirror she wanted to scream at the terror she saw. The straw like, easy to pull out hair was replaced with these thick, raven locks. Her dried out skin halfway to the point of mummification was now luscious and rich! She hated it! She was Yagabayal; the Mad Witch. Now she looked like a soccer mom. Combined with her frustrations over the woman still at large who posed a threat and Yagabayal was beyond furious. She wanted vengeance.

While this ability still costs a A rank amount of chakra to allow for flight, it is during this flight that the user may spend any amount of chakra to dodge incoming attacks by paying their rank in chakra. This unnamed dodge effect may be used as far up to S+ in rank but the flight ability can no longer freely dodge those it's rank and below and instead requires a cost and defensive activation for it. _☆ Vacuum Style: Clear As Wind [ Shinkū sutairu: Kazenoyōni kuria ] | Rank S ( Passive) ___○ An alteration meant to benefit the user who fights in the air. This ability costs no chakra or activation but instead may only be of benefit when used against airborne targets. Vacuum Wave, Sphere, and Great Sphere become clear as the air they travel through and thus become much harder to spot denying the agility stat when dodging them. This bonus is nullified against those who can sense chakra or see chakra (such as certain doujutsu) Assuming of course that the target is not blinded or under another such effect that would prevent them from having access to their normal sensing ability. _☆ Greater Windfury [ Ōkaze no ikari ] | Rank S (Passive) ___○ Utilizing an unheard of mastery of the storm, the user is now capable of applying vertigo to their physical techniques while under the effects of Windfury. This effect lasts for one post and is equal in stage to it's rank strength after stat increases are applied. _☆ Giant Falcon: Bond of the Spirit [ Kyojin Taka: Rei no kizuna ] | Rank S (Passive) ___○ Using their fuuton chakra the user will create a bond with created Falcon spirit. For as long as it is in the air and flying the Falcon may benefit from the user’s agility stat for the purposes of dodging. However this close bond is now also a source of weakness for If either Falcon or ninja suffers from a status effect that would otherwise lower this agility stat, then both parties are affected. (i.e. if you are on the ground and get poisoned to lose [1] point of agility then your Falcon loses it as well. Abilities that hit both you drain double the amount of agility from you). _☆ Underground Fish Projection [ Dochuu Eigyo ] | Rank C | Augment ___○ A supplementary technique that augments the user of techniques that allow the user to sink into the earth. By paying the cost of this technique alongside the activation of a parent technique, the user is able to freely move beneath the earth and breathe without restriction. This ability requires an upkeep of twenty chakra every three posts. _☆ Underground Submarine Voyage [ Dochuu Senkou ] | Rank C | Augment ___○ This technique passively augments techniques that allow the user to submerge under ground. While moving within five feet of the surface of the earth, the user can forcefully throw dirt, rock and debris up to fifteen feet from the user's location above the surface, causing tier two blindness to those who are targeted by the debris and dust while causing deep bruising. This technique requires it's cost be paid every three posts. _☆ Mud Needle [ Retsudo Tenshin ] | Rank C | Augment ___○ While the technique Earth Flow Wave is active, the user forms a spear measuring ten feet in length that flies at targets within thirty feet of the user. This spear is capable of causing petrification upon contact that spreads over the entire limb. _☆ Ground Shock Wave Technique [ Rikujou Shougekiha no Jutsu ] | Augment | Learned as C ___○ An upgrade of Ground Shaking Technique [ Rikujou Douyou no Jutsu ], this technique unleashes larger amounts of chakra into the ground to cause a more violent shock wave. The force of the wave is enough to knock a few opponents down and perhaps even toss them [30] feet. This technique is activated by simply landing on the ground. As an upgrade of Ground Shock Wave Technique, this technique takes the same slot as the D-rank version once learned. _☆ Earth Style Wall [ Doryuu Heki ] | Augment | Learned as B ___○ After the shinobi performs the necessary hand seals, they spew a line of mud onto the ground from their mouth. The mud then grows into a large mud wall to help defend against incoming attacks. The wall is thirty feet tall, eighty feet wide, and is a permanent structure unless destroyed. This wall blocks up to S-Rank suiton techniques and up to A-Rank techniques. This is a mud-based version of Earth Style Rampart [ Doryuu Jouheki ] and takes the same slot as the original. Either version can be used. The mud is very slick, making the wall hard to climb. _☆ Earth Dome [ Iwa no Doomu ] | Augment | Learned as A ___○ An extension of Earth Style Rampart [ Doryuu Jouheki ], this jutsu retains its predecessor's characteristics and more. Instead of forming a single, straight wall which can protect the user from only one angle, this jutsu enables the user to create a wall not just all around themselves, but also from above. This dome protects against up to A-Rank techniques and up to S-Rank suiton. This technique can occupy the same jutsu slot as either of the jutsu that are a requirement for it. -Requires knowing Earth Style Rampart [ Doryuu Jouheki ] or Earth Style Wall [ Doryuu Heki ] _☆ Rock Avalanche Technique [ Dosekiryuu no Jutsu ] | Augment | Learned as B ___○ A powerful technique, the user molds their chakra to cause an avalanche off the side of a mountain, destroying everything in its path. Obviously, the user must be near the side of a mountain or a cliff face, either natural or created by another Doton jutsu. There is also a chance that the user gets caught in the avalanche as well. Requires several hand seals to perform, a large grouping of rocks will fall, dislodging those underneath, until ground level is reached. _☆ Rock Wall [ Iwane Wooru ] | Augment | Learned as A ___○ Starts out exactly like Rock Bump [ Iwane Wooru ], by performing the same hand seals and grabbing a much larger rock or another large object instead. Wherever it hits, a large rectangular prism-shaped formation rises up out of the ground, approximately three feet in width/depth and six feet in height, stopping the enemy completely. Requires several hand seals. This is an upgrade of Rock Bump [ Iwane Wooru ] and takes the same slot as the D-rank version once learned. _☆ Stone Shell [ Sekkai Suke ] | Augment | Learned as S ___○ This technique protects an ally or allies with a three-sided stone shell. Up to three shells can be created at once at any point within one hundred feet of the user. The user placing hands on the ground causes the walls to shoot up, blocking all elemental attacks. Lasts one post. This is an upgrade of Iwa Guntai Tate and takes the same slot as the A-rank version once learned. _☆ Lightning Blast [ Raikou Hitofuki ] | Rank C | Augment ___○ An upgraded version of Lightning Bolt, however instead of a projectile bolt of lighting, the user fires it in a beam, continuously flowing from their hand or finger. This technique can be sustained for five chakra per post. _☆ Shadow Clone - Lightning [ Raiton Kage Bunshin ] | Rank A | Augment ___○ An augmentation of the standard Shadow Clone Technique. This technique is created in the same functionality of the parent technique and can have it's properties applied to Multi Shadow Clone Technique. Upon destruction, instead of harmlessly poofing, the clone releases a concussive explosion of electrical chakra that is ten feet in width, causing tier one paralysis for each application per target. Opponents who are stricken by the lightning clone are subject to tier two paralysis and tier one burns. This technique must be paid atop the cost of shadow clone techniques but has no activation. _☆ Lightning Edge [ Raikiri ] | Rank S | Augment ___○ Raikiri is renown for giving it's users the ability to cleave lightning bolts in half. The user rushes forward, slicing through their target in an instant. Upon contact, this technique slices through techniques, armors ( spiritual, Ninjutsu) as though they were one rank lower and treats armor and weapons as though it were stricken three times for degradation. Opponent's stricken by this single action assassination technique suffer tier four paralysis which applies to the entire body. _☆ Lightning Transmission [ Raiden ] | Rank S+ | Augment ___○ This technique requires the user have Learned Raikiri from either this technique list or the Hatake list, utilizing either's properties as a base. In addition, this technique requires either a second user who has access to Raikiri as well. Alternatively, a Shadow Clone may be substituted. The user and their ally both utilize the Raikiri technique, aiming their techniques towards one another as the techniques combine into a single lightning cable that can stretch a distance of fifty feet between the two users. The two then rush forward, slicing anything within their path at or below this technique's rank in power. This technique does not have a cost of it's own or activation but augments user's two Raikiri techniques together. Using Raikiri in the form of Raiden doubles the effects of both Raikiri techniques, devastating any target within the cable. If an NPC is impacted, those with a Body Rank of A Rank or less are cleaved in an instant while RPC are severely wounded and the user is alternatively able to intertwine around the target to subdue them, paying an upkeep cost of eighty chakra per post. _☆ Vanishing Spiral Sphere [ Kieru Rasengan ] | Rank A | Augment ___○ An augment of the Maruton Rasengan. The user brings both hands together and forms a small marble sized rasengan that causes a faint breeze to flow around the user. The user then hurls this miniature Rasengan at their foe up to fifty feet away. As the orb travels wihtin the first ten feet, the lightning element activates abruptly which causes it to vanish from sight. Only those with dojutsu with body ranks S Rank or higher or sensory techniques S Rank or higher can detect the Rasengan once it vanishes, seeming to have fizzled out. The target will be stricken by the invisible Rasengan to their surprise as it manifests upon contact. Upon contact, the orb rotates rapidly, applying a drill-like effect to the target, allowing it to shred through techniques, treating spiritual and ninjutsu techniques as one rank lower. Alternatively, this technique is used to cause a target to go flying upon contact, spinning in the direction of the orb's current. This technique causes tier two paralysis on the impact area. _☆ Breathing Underwater Technique [ Suimenka no Kisoku ] | Rank D Passive ___○ The art of breathing underwater using chakra to remove oxygen from water has been a long handed down secret of the Mist. The length of time and the depth that the diver can go under depends on the ability of the user. This technique activates whenever the Shinobi breathes in water and requires no hand seals. This technique is passive in that it activates automatically when the shinobi's head is submerged underwater. However, it requires an upkeep of an E-Rank amount once active to continue past the first post - can be canceled at any time, and does not require an activation. _☆ Mist Vision Technique [ Kiri Shikaku no Jutsu ] | Rank D Passive ___○ A technique usually used with the Hidden Mist Technique, the Mist Vision technique allows the user to see through the heavy mist, steam, or any other condition caused by water in the air. The technique is passive and activates when the user's vision would otherwise be obstructed by mist. Does not consume an activation to be used. Negates any blindness status caused by moisture in the air. _☆ Flame-Resistance Technique [ Bounetsu no Jutsu ] | Rank E | Passive ___○ This is a passive Jutsu that is the first in two steps to protect the user from damaging themselves with their very own techniques. This can be done for no activation cost once every three posts. _☆ Burning Ash Accumulation [ Haisekishou ] | Rank Null ___○ Burning Ash Accumulation is a variant of the Nenshou Ha techniques. Rather than use typical blinding ash the user can replace said cinders with explosive ash by increasing the rank of the Nenshou technique being augmented. The user then either clicks their teeth together or snaps their fingers, igniting the ash within. This snapping or clicking action can be done within the duration of the ash's four posts without paying an activation cost. Doing so ends the blindness effect of the ash but applies tier three burns to those who are effected by it, the concussive force causing small bone fractures and deep bruising. The user is not immune to this explosive force and should remain outside the ash for it. _☆ Undertow | Rank D | Training ___○ This training focuses on using movement when you attack, carrying that much more force. After this skill is trained, any attack that follows a dodge or evasive technique is treated as a counterattack, and the user's total bonus to agility can be attributed to the strength of the next attack. When this ability is performed it cannot be used the following post. _☆ Repeating Wave | Rank B | Training ___○ The user's training has focused on their agility ability to strike while avoiding harm.
