The Crystals Heart Gallery.
Those were the words on the invitation. When he’d been asked to partner with the new festival in their Event Hall, Yuri had almost turned it down. It’s not that he didn’t want to, it was just… he’d never done anything like this before. Could he handle it? Would his drinks be good enough to serve? Could he make as many pastries as would be needed? Would he be able to accommodate an event of this size with just his small cafe? Could he…
He didn’t know. But he had to try. It could be his big break to get the Nekosuke out there. For people to recognize it for good food and drink and not just the cats. But there was something else, too.
It’s just what he needed to get out of his rut. Whether he acknowledged it or not, he’d needed a reason to reengage with Destiny City — its day life, not its night scene where he was patrolling at night, whether that was looking for his lost sister or keeping Urania out of trouble. It was oh-so-easy to forget why he was here and what he was protecting when he didn’t spend much time out side of work and being a knight to see the good things his home had to offer.
It had taken some thought, but he’d picked the drinks and bakery recipes he would use for the Buffet. It needed to be something he could fix quickly as there would be many people there, but also something that would keep with the theme. He could make a quick latte, but how to make it special? He had learned to create hearts with milk or cream that could be added last to the top of each cup. He had also perfected a sugar cookie recipe, but what to make it pop? A heart-shape covered in bright red fondant, perfect for dipping and not messy if his guests were on the go.
Yuri arrived early with the other chefs to set up, his apron on and a rose-red bow tie to complement the theme. There were hearts everywhere and crystal and glass. It was wonderful.
He waited for the first guests to arrive.
