There'd been a noise, maybe a voice, outside his office door. It was hard to hear since he'd soundproofed things pretty well to keep his music from disturbing others. Putting down the crystal he'd been filing away at, he moved through his office to get to the door.

Chalcanthite wasn't expecting that when he opened the door though. He'd never met or seen Tama before but he knew they were a Mauvian and, apparently, one with a bow on their head. He'd only really seen a Mauvian as a cat before, not like this, but it was interesting.

"Oh, Hello, come in."

Moving aside, he opened the door the rest of the way and motioned for them to enter. He'd have to get the gift he'd gotten for them out of one of his drawers where he'd hidden it. Mel had been making a nuisance of herself in here, picking things up and moving them around to bother him. At least she hadn't been throwing things at him anymore since he'd helped her get her magic sorted out.

Closing the door behind Tama, he made his way past the various glass and wood cases that housed all his crystals and books. Each shelf was organized by color and size with a small lock to prevent them from being accessed by anyone other than Chalcanthite.

"Yes, though I accept Chal as well. You can have a seat, sorry I only have one additional chair. People rarely stop in so I am never really prepared to have seating arrangements for others."

Settling behind his desk again, he pulled a key from his breast pocket and unlocked a drawer down by his leg. After a bit of shuffling, he pulled out a parchment-wrapped box sealed with a ribbon and wax seal with a musical note on it.

"I have yours as well, I do hope it is alright."

It had taken him far longer to decide on the type of stationery and tea that Tama would like. Not knowing more about who he was giving a gift to made things a bit difficult but, he had wanted to try to find something that would work for a Mau when they were a cat. He hadn't really known much about them being in human form other than the vague memory of an order cat from a long time back.

Was that exactly what they were now, human?

"My pleasure, I hope it is alright."

Noticing they were looking at his collection he set the gift in front of them before taking a moment to scan the locked cases. "Many of them are samples I collected while doing research, I have a sibling with sticky fingers so I tend to keep my things locked up. If you want to look at any of them I can pull them down for you?" Though to be honest Mel did it more to mess with him than to actually take the things. He could talk of what he'd been looking into for hours, how it had aided in stabilizing a senshi's late blooming magic but... not how he had made a flute that could lure in civilians and powered individuals alike. That was something he still kept close to his chest, just in case.

Turning back and accepting the gift, with its freshly added bow, he nodded.

"Thank you."

The wrapping was nice and the box had a night weight to it as well, he wondered what it might be but he would wait to see if Tama liked his gift first as they were the guest in his office.

"I frequently work with crystals yes, though my research is based on resonance and frequencies as it were instead of gemology. The one I was working on I am refining into something akin to a tuning fork. My time in the Rift has led me to a vein of crystals that seem to hum when struck. The youma nearby them seemed to calm or relax when the sound came."

It had been a fluke, something he'd not considered completely but had wondered over after finding the crystal that had become his fife. It was something new though, a sliver of a promise that could allow him to help keep others safe without fighting and risking himself.

"I will be testing things in the field as it were at some point. I have to work out some things and prepare some prototypes still. However, if you have an interest in crystals or more in-depth knowledge I would appreciate your insight on things. One thing I noticed was that those with a lack of inclusions or impurities seem to work the best, perhaps because they can resonate and avoid shattering from any internal faults?"

It was rare he got to talk about this, it wasn't something Benitoite could understand or get behind and Liam was a mirror senshi so he wouldn't have any reference or need to understand. If anything they might worry over him more as he tried to explain things.

Shaking the thought away he looked down at his own gift and went about unwrapping it as Tama dug through their own gift. Sticking the bow to his youma's perch, he went about carefully removing the tape so he could set aside the paper without making any sort of mess.

"Yes, at least partially and for some period of time. Nothing permanent, unfortunately, so it may not help in the long run with your issue with that specific youma. I see it more as a potential safeguard when bringing lower-ranked agents or senshi to the Rift for exploration. However, I do wonder if I am able to find out the specific frequency of things that it might be able to be replicated through technological means."

He felt a bit bad that this mauvian was having a hard time with youma. It was obvious that they didn't like that one specifically.

"Recently I was able to help stabilize a corrupt senshi's magic through the use of those same crystals so given your experience with upgrades I am curious about what other uses I may find for them that would benefit as many people as possible. As for what I am thinking, I have been working on a tuning fork-like configuration, something that when struck resonates and eases some youma in the vicinity of the thing. The largest issue I have so far is finding a good source of crystals that lack impurities otherwise they seem to shake themselves apart far too quickly for my comfort." He wouldn't bring up the other thing he was working on, just in case it might upset that balance there was with the dark mirror. That crystal was something he'd have to explore and manage on his own away from prying eyes.

"I see, well perhaps once I get a bit more research done I can assist in that. I would refrain from testing something on a mauvian before the kinks are worked out as it were. I can keep you in the loop if you would like?" He hadn't yet managed to find a mauvian to assist in things just yet on the technology side of things.

Hearing that hint of jealousy did feel good though, he had known that the task he'd taken on might not have worked out even with the things he'd been looking into but he was prepared to keep trying at it and would look into assisting other senshi with a similar issue in the future.

"Yes, though I have a feeling that each one who shares that issue may not have the exact same solution. I intend to work things out as it were, fixing their magic helps everyone in the long run. Hers specifically had the risk of bursting anyone else's ears that were in the vicinity. Very, very, unpleasant but now it seems to only effect enemies or who she chooses. She still likes to hit me with it on occasion but... that's to be expected." A bit of a sour note came out as he spoke, the thought of how spiteful Mel still was bothered him when all he was doing was trying to help her and patch things up.

Pulling off the last bit of wrapping paper, he folded it neatly and set it aside on his desk. The present inside was very nice, a locked book of sorts and he already saw a nice spot on the shelf to put it when not in use. But the mention of crystals coming from the sovereigns had him pausing for a moment.

"I see, that would make sense but you and the other mauvians are very helpful and I do appreciate the work that you all have done. I find that method of assisting in promotions to be much more pleasant than my own experience. Though Laurelite may have gone easier on me, it was a long time ago though..." Waving the thought off he offered a smile.

"Very nice, I love the color and it has a nice weight to it." Looking down at the book again as he thumbed the velvet cover.
