As she was walking through the city disguised, tapping around on one of the human phones, though, trying to find a specific small, local grocery store that said it had many vegan options, a lot of pictures of food were showing up on the screen. There were crisp vegetables. There were soft breads.
She could smell bread, too. Her mouth was watering.
Had humans discovered how to transmit smells through screens?
Oh. No. Looking up, Aria saw that the smell was actually coming from a nearby building. Bakery, said the sign. That sounded different, but she was sure that there was food in there. Putting down the phone, Aria made her way inside.
"Hello," she said, walking up to the counter. Her eyes flicked around the many products that were on display, and it took her longer than it should have to murmur, "You sell... bread?"
