Never had Kyohei thought he would make it to UA. Not before the past couple years, at least. His Quirk had taken forever to manifest, so until it had, he'd fully expected to attend and graduate from a normal high school for people who weren't going to become pro-heroes, but now... here he was. In the hero class. More surprisingly than that, he was attending UA with his best friend and brother, Kazuma Iron-Blood. Kyohei was studious and hard-working, so all he'd needed in addition to that in order to get into UA was a Quirk. By no means did he think he was social or interesting, though. To be honest, he was pretty sure his parents were just as surprised that he'd managed to make such a good friend that they both considered each other brothers. Somehow.
And then there was the playfulness Kazuma tended to bring out in him. It currently took the form of ceaseless giggles as he argued with staff about his bear friend. It was just a little harmless fun, after all, and at least that much was due him. He knew the bear was no danger to anyone: Kazuma's animal friends had that in common, it seemed. Was it part of his Quirk? Or was he just a Disney princess? It had been a point of much amused speculation since he'd met the young man. After a few minutes, however, Kyohei's cheeks started hurting from all the snickering, so he slapped his hand on Kazuma's back, to send the blond into a very nice and distracting hallucination. In the years they'd been friends, he'd managed to recognize his Quirk and build resistances against it... but Kyohei knew just what he wouldn't be able to resist. Glory. Food. Women. It was enough to preoccupy the Norseman(?) long enough for him to apologize to the staff and get his silly friend out of there and to their rooms. ... Along with his stuff. His wheeled luggage was convenient but had a stiff wheel. It was almost harder than dragging Kazuma. At least all he had to do was get them to their rooms so he could recharge a bit. New setting, new expectations, new... people. And there they were, a whole slew of them before he could get to his room.
Ah. Hell.
In an attempt to start off on the right foot, Kyohei opened his mouth to introduce himself (and Kazuma in order to keep him from saying something stupid, hopefully), but before he could get more than three words out, his brother opened his mouth. And Kyohei closed his. And his eyes. Ruefully. A part of him... a very optimistic part of him wanted to believe Kazuma wouldn't say anything that would elicit his intervention, but--
"...wish to fight to the death..."
There it was.
In the span of a few more words, the boy covered his friend's mouth with his hand and apologized to their new classmates, wishing to smooth any feathers Kazuma might have been in the process of ruffling. The questioning that followed after he withdrew his hand was kind of sweet, actually. His companion only offered to fight people to the death out of some sense of honor. And stupidity. But not malice. Still, death was death, and this was a school. Fortunately, Kyohei was relieved to find that he was not the only one thinking along that vein, so when the boy with the red streak lying stark against the rest of his black hair spoke, he nodded and then looked back to his friend, the smallest of smiles on his lips as he recognized this as a potentially teachable moment: "So, maybe death is not the best thing to offer to the people who will be our classmates for the duration of our time here."
... Yeah, that was totally going to get through to Kazuma. Oh, well. If he didn't go around at an impractically high volume, trying to collect fights to the death like Infinity Stones, he wouldn't have been Kazuma.
