Erytheia was out tonight. He wouldn’t call what he was doing patrolling exactly. It was more like he was out looking at the stars and just happened to be powered up at the time.

It was a clear night and he walked near the park area right out side of town. He hadn’t felt a powered signature at all until he started gazing at the stars. The view was so good tonight he needn’t even climb to a good high perfect to see the show the night sky had for him.

That’s when he felt a pinprick of a magic signature a bit like his own.

“Hello!” He looked at Casablanca, not confused, but a bit unsure all the same. “I’m Erytheia. I suppose you are of Cosmos as well.”

Erytheia was a bit surprised that it was another Cosmos knight. He’d thought there was something familiar about the aura, but only in a vague sort of way. He still had not figured out how to spot another Cosmos knight by aura alone, no matter how hard he tried.

And he had tried — a lot when he was a page.

This one looked new, too. At least, the way she held her weapon was an awful lot like he used to hold his.

Erytheia recalled what Tama always told him.

‘It’s like that with you knights. Senshi come with Mauvians and worlds full of untaught history, Agents come with a military structure and clear hierarchy, even a youma knows where it stands. But with knights you come into this world blind with nothing but a name and a Code that gives no answers to your endless questioning.’

How right the guardian cat had been!

“That symbol in your hands. The star.” He pointed to the symbol attached to the cloth she held. “This is the symbol of Cosmos.”

He held his other hand to the symbol of a star, albeit more elaborate, around his neck.

“That is how I know what you — we — are.”

“Yes. They all do.” He sat down and looked at a small patch of dirt. He began drawing with his finger. First a star, than a moon and then a circle with a cross through it.

“Cosmos. Moon. Earth.” He said as he drew each. “All the planets of the Solar system have a symbol. They use the same images that have been used to represent them by astronomers today and alchemists before them.”

He gave a grimaced smile at her suggestion that there was some sort of course she could take or website that would give her the answers.

“I am afraid not. In times past, there was an academy, but it is long gone.”

Erytheia smiled. The closest thing he had ever gotten even close to magic school was Knight Nights. Where had Hvergelmir, who had hosted those so long ago, been these days?

Looking at the page before him and remembering himself at that stage, he thought perhaps it may be time for him to take up that mantle.

“We’d attract way too much attention if there was a magic school here on Earth. Do you feel the aura that is around me? Everyone of us gives off that energy. So many of us in one place would be hard to hide.”

“Auras can feel like many things and sometimes it’s different from person to person. But it’s always a feeling you just can’t ignore.” He tried to describe it as best he could. But feelings where hard to explain.

“If you feel something strange or out of place, it’s usually your body responding to a chaotic aura. Agents of the Negaverse, corrupted Senshi, even youma have these auras.” He held his hand to his chest. “Does it feel like you want to get away from it, like it’s repelling you?”

“You have your own wonder — a place knights protect — somewhere out there in space. If you ever want to go there, just think about it and the words for the spell should come to you. But I can’t really tell you what it will be like there, I’m afraid.”

Erytheia hoped he wasn’t dumping to much on her all at once. He remembered the words he had said to that Negaverse agent at the same stage. Being a Cosmos knight could be… a lot.

“You’ll have to find that out yourself.”
