Name: Esai Stage: Prentice Race: Yaeli Gender: Male Sexuality: ??? Personality: Wary - Solemn - Skillful
While superstitions run amok in Yael and most have some sort of beliefs, Eodum is superstitious to the point that he even follows ancient lore that many of his generation ignore with very few older Yaeli around that still know of such things. He is extremely cautious of the world around him and dedicates time to learning more about spirits and curses as to avoid them. His wariness extends beyond the supernatural as well since he often doubts strangers and rarely finds himself relying on others. Such beliefs give him little freedom to laugh and he constantly has a solemn, if not dour, expression as he goes through life. It's not uncommon for anyone to believe him to be older than his teen years and most would be surprised to hear how young he truly is.
It isn't as if Eodum means anyone harm, however,as he actually is an innocent spirit beneath the prickly layers of pessimism and caution. If anything getting to know him may reveal fear more than anger or sorrow, but it is very hard to approach Eodum as he prefers being on his own. On the positive side he doesn't have to worry about being hurt and has developed quite a number of survival skills while taking care of himself. He's very quick to pick up on things and quite intelligent with quick reflexes and good memory which has served him well over the years. History: Eodum was raised by his grandparents who owned a farm outside of a smaller Yaeli village. When he was a child his grandmother fell ill and left them but Eodum still recalls most of her teachings as she was an herbalist with a deep belief in the supernatural. Often she would teach him about cooking, herbs and the like while telling him stories about Yael and the unknown. Unfortunately for his family it appeared that his grandmother hadn't been cautious enough about appeasing the gods in the past which is why she believed she lost her son. While neither of his grandparents spoke directly to him concerning his parents the boy picked up snippets of conversations about his father who had ignored his grandparents superstitions and wandered out into areas without protection until one night a spirit bewitched him and he disappeared for years before returning with Eodum. Eodum had just been a baby at that time so he couldn't remember anything about his father who lost his life in a hunting accident shortly thereafter nor could he ever recall anything about his mysterious mother who no one in the family knew. Some whispered it was actually a spirit, others believed a witch had enamored his father and others simply thought that the man had gone to live his own life away from the tight grip of his parents. Maybe he went to the city even and found a wife but no one ever found out since Eodum's father refused to talk about it or talk much at all before losing his life. Regardless of how he acted or of the fact that he knew nothing about his parents the other children often avoided Eodum because of the mystery and rumors surrounding his birth and his father's accident. So Eodum found himself growing closer to his grandmother and he often worked with her in the gardens up until her death. Once she passed his grandfather attempted to interact more with his grandson but he was far more stoic than his gentle wife and it was hard for the pair to truly express themselves. Still they formed a bond while working on the farm together and Eudom learned as much as he could from his grandfather before he too slipped away from this life.
Now for the past two years or so, Eudom has adapted to living alone and taking care of the cabin and gardens himself. He is very self reliant and only goes into the village when needing supplies and to trade. Rarely will anyone see him there for social events as such things make him uncomfortable and feel completely unnecessary in his humble opinion. But Eudom is fine with missing out as he enjoys nature and the company of the plants and animals he keeps around. Description: Lean and tall with a rather foul expression, a result of him always pondering things and not really putting much effort into being approachable, Eodum also has a crooked nose from a fight that happened when he was younger and a few other scars picked up here and there from toughing it out in the wilderness and on the farm. He prefers wearing simplistic, necessary things as to not attract the attention of any spirits or the like.
Update: Eudom is living on the outskirts of a smaller village while tending to the farm left behind by his grandparents.

✸Hunter✸
Eudom always knew his path. Even though he enjoyed reading and taking care of the farm there was only one way to protect it. His father had also been a hunter and so it only made sense for Eudom to one day take up the spear that he had left behind. The man was confident with the weapon and had trained with it for years until his grandparents had finally gifted him his own custom spear. That spear stayed on the wall now to cherish their memories, but Eudom still fought just as before. If anyone dared to hurt him or his farm then they would be in trouble. Eudom smirked before noticing that something was out of place on the fence again. “Time to fix it.” He sighed before tying back his hair that had grown out over the last few months. It was a hassle to always take care of things like his appearance and so he sometimes looked a bit gruffer which only added to his grumpy appearance that put others off. The man was definitely as abrasive as his grandfather and much more of a loner than the rest of his family had been. Still, Eudom was happy. He enjoyed his little sanctuary in the middle of Yael and he was close enough to the village to easily go back and forth for supplies. The farmhouse had been built with a sturdy foundation and his grandparents had kept it despite their lack of children with plenty of room and supplies for a big family. Eudom supposed that meant they had hoped he would have one in the future but the Yaeli man doubted that. Allowing someone to be that close was just a bunch of trouble. “Just like you, fence.” He chastised the thing before started to fiddle with it, fixing the hook so that the door properly closed before the tintural tried escaping again. Stubborn thing was just as bad as him. Eudom chuckled at the thought before continuing his work on repairing the fence and gate, his spear laying on the ground behind him.

✸Growth✸
A wirenth hunted in his forest. Eudom was frustrated at himself for just allowing the creature to roam the woods so close to home. The beast had already caught him off guard a few days ago, a claw snagging his cheek and leaving a scratch. Eudom had barely managed to escape, his spear destroyed in the conflict and normally he would have just waited it out. He was not one to go off and find danger. He wanted a safe and quiet life at his farm without any conflicts, that much he definitely preferred when presented the options. Eudom was no adventurer and definitely not a warrior. He was a farmer who knew how to hunt and would only fight to defend his land. But thoughts of his recent acquaintances, of that group of nearly identical girls kept haunting him. What if one of them tried to visit? Would the wirenth harm them? Eudom let out a curse as he finally moved towards his spear and grabbed a few traps. He had to take action. He was not going to let any of those girls get hurt! He would never admit to anything but he did have a heart and refused to see someone else get hurt. Even if it pushed him past his usual limits and made him take action for once instead of simply sitting back and watching. He did so hate being sociable, but his heart wasn’t a complete block of stone.
And so into the forest he went without any concern for his safety because for once in his life he was prioritizing the safety of others, of those not even related to him. It took him half of a day to track down the beast but unfortunately for Eudom and the wirenth it had settled too close to the valley. Eudom shook his head before challenging the beast. “Get out!” He yelled through clenched teeth before charging forward, the most reckless move he had ever made in his entire life. Strangely enough though he was thinking of others for once and that made him leave behind his fear and doubt. If he could protect them, if he could make certain no one else got harmed by the beast then his pain would be worth it. Such feelings gave him the motivation to keep fighting back despite the injuries, the scratches starting to decorate his arms and back until finally the feral beast was taken care of. No one would have to worry anymore. Eudom slumped against a tree and pressed his torn tunic against a really bad gash along his side. “That stings.” He winced as he waited to regain his strength. He could make it back to the farm and bandage up properly there. Why rely on anyone else to come find him? Eudom let out a pained chuckle. “Ironic considering I did this for others.” He managed to quip before finally standing back on his feet again. At least he knew that the forest was safe for now and he would hopefully no longer be haunted by images of anyone being potentially injured. What a strange sensation worrying for others was. He had thought that long since lost with the death of his grandparents, but here he was once more caring for others.
[550]
Eudom has enjoyed a solitary life since losing his grandparents. He has never really cared much for anyone else and kept to himself without worrying of others. However, this is a shift as not only is he expressing concern but he actually went out and put himself in danger just to make certain that those living nearby were safe from an aggressive wirenth that nearly killed him before. Maybe his grumpy personality is slowly opening up to the acceptance of others after all.
