X X Sometimes Fate smiles upon us, other times she smiles upon another. This week starts out like any other; with a chance meeting in the park one evening after what seemed like a mugging, and the young Faunus doing the right thing at the right time. Chance will turn into something much more sinister for the young cheetah... Let the games begin.

Mneme Damsel in Distress
It would appear to be like any other uneventful summer afternoon. Only that would end as a scream would be heard, female and distressed. "Help! Let go," the young woman cried as she held onto the straps of a black denim purse. Holding on to the other side of it was a lean muscled and pretty tall scoundrel as they struggle for control. Where were the police when you needed them?! The struggle was over quickly when he had shoved the girl and she let go due to loss of balance. Hitting the ground pretty hard, the girl in the striped sweater dress and boots tried to get up quickly only to wince and fall back down. "Lady Fate sent me here...but why..." She pondered as she would try to get up again. Calling for help once more as the brute was getting away through the trees of the park...

He had yet to really use it in a combat sense and he was aiming to try and improve that. So he had a few X marks spray painted onto some of the trees of the park and would practice his coordination and accuracy. A loud thud would be heard, to him, as the metal soccer ball impacted the tree and dented it a tiny bit. He wasn't the strongest, but a metal soccer ball was bound to do damage regardless. So far he had been hitting decently enough; landing about two thirds of his attempts. Memories would flash to the stampeding Grimm as he recalled the ball back to him and caught it under the cleats of his soccer shoes. 'I need to do better,' he thought to himself. There were some other thoughts to perhaps getting a new main weapon as well; while this was cool he wasn't sure how well it would fare against an armored Grimm. He would line up a shot and kick the ball again, this time activating the spikes mid-air as he did so. They could impact the tree with the sound of wood being broken before falling to the earth and recalled to him; a few holes in the tree now from where the spikes met bark. It didn't quite have the level of damage he wanted though; he just wasn't sure what to do in that regard.
He would then hear the sound of a scream not too far away; a girl screaming. A shiver would go down his spine as he was caught off guard by it; taking a second to snap himself out of it as he hesitated. 'It can't be a grimm right?' he thought to himself with slight worry. If it was a person with a gun or something he was screwed but...he couldn't just wait here and pretend like he didn't hear anything. He would run to the source of the noise, kicking the soccer ball with him as he did. He was acting on instinct more than anything; adrenaline surging from hearing the call for help. 'This is what a hero is supposed to do right?' he thought to himself as he began to see things. Namely a brunette/lavender haired girl struggling with a purse being pulled away by a much bigger dude. He would shove her down and bolt; with the girl calling for help as she was trying to get up. 'What do I do!?" Ryker thought in a moment of panic before acting. He would kick the soccer ball forward and run as fast as he could after, lining up the shot as his cleats tore through earth. He would kick the soccer ball with a loud sound of impact and it would go flying in the air...right into the back of the assailants head. While the spikes weren't out, a solid kick with a metal soccer ball to someone who didn't have aura...they guy stumbled and them tumbled into the ground. Rushing after as the soccer ball rolled back to Ryker, the guy would shakily stand and attempt to run with the purse still. Aiming again, focused, Ryker would kick the soccer ball again once it reached him; this time hitting the guy in the right shoulder. He would curse loudly as he dropped the purse and ran. Running forward still, but slowing a little, Ryker would watch him go as he stopped by the girl's purse before picking it up.
'To think people like that exist,' he thought with a slight glare at the retreating figure before picking up the purse. His gaze would then turn back to the girl; he would jog back to her to see her still on the ground. 'That's not a good sign,' he thought to himself. He may've ran fast but if she could've gotten up...she would have by now. He would set the purse down besides her and crouch down. "Are you alright miss; do you need any help?" he would ask with genuine concern in his voice as he looked the girl over. Mostly he was trying to see any visible injuries, but he didn't have much experience anyway with that. It was more to feel like he was doing something than feeling helpless. His eyes would eventually settle on hers though, especially if she spoke.

Mneme Damsel in Distress
The young woman was a little dazed from the impact of the ground. As she was, she would only slowly turn her head to see the events of her purse. Smiling softly, she would sigh with relief as she saw an athletic and admittedly handsome young Faunus doing what she wanted to do. With the thug incapacitated from the...ball? She would try to get up to no avail. Her right ankle appeared swollen from the fall. It irked she could not wallop the villain herself but, she couldn't complain that the young man approaching her now had saved her purse.
Smiling sheepishly, once her senses returned to her, dark chocolate eyes would meet chromatic ones of her new acquaintance before replying. "I'm sure I'm fine...Oww," the young woman said as she tried to get up only to cringe and fall back down. "I see...so this is why." She would internally sigh, trying not to cry tears of frustration. Looking back at him, she would frown slightly. "I'm s-sorry...Could we get to a bench," She inquired meekly. She was unsure if he would be valiant enough to fulfill her request, but she figured she'd ask/test him.

He wasn't sure on anything else, or how bad it really was though. Seeing her sheepish smile as dark chocolate eyes met his chromatic ones, he would smile in a friendly way in return. She would claim to be fine...but as soon as soon as she tried to rise she would cringe, let out an ow, and fall back as Ryker instinctively shot out a hand to help steady here. She would frown a bit, and ask meekly if he could help her to a bench. "Easy there; your ankle doesn't look the best," he would comment slightly, not in a mean spirited way. Just more so a 'you and I both know you'll need some help' kind of way. He would perk up a bit though. "Sure thing though; do you want to just lean on me or can I carry you to the bench? I'm fine with either way for it; let me know when you are ready as well," he would offer the girl. She would consent to just have him support her to the bench. He would gently yet firmly place his arms around her. "Alright, on the count of three. One, two, three!" he would say, going slow in the count and helping to raise her up as he stood up from his own crouch. Unsteady for a moment before he would help steady them both and support her; slowly and carefully leading her to the bench and trying to help however he could. Taking on as much of her weight as he could and needed to, to help ease things for her. Once they reached the bench, he would help to gently set her down on it by having them both sit down slowly at the same time. "The name's Ryker by the way, whats yours?" he would ask in a friendly tone of voice as he looked to her.

Mneme Damsel in Distress
The young woman was secretly impressed with how well the young man kept his composure in such a situation; she was used to ninnies usually. He was not being mean, she could tell that much at least. It hadn't dissuaded her from trying to stand up though, and falling in the process. After making her request, she was pleasantly surprised that he would indeed help her in getting up. Blushing slightly from the respectful touch, she would stand with his support, holding on so as not to be too much of a burden when they walked.
On the bench, she would sigh in relief, glad to have the weight off of her swollen ankle. Looking over at him, she would lightly brush brunette and lavender hair behind her ear. "Plausure, and thank you, Ryker. I'm Mneme," the young woman replied sweetly, before looking to her ankle to check on it. Wincing as she did, but she seemed to stubbornly press on. "Well, luckily it's only swollen, nothing broken, nothing. Strain only, not a sprain." She thought, and told him so when asked, as she was checking he would see a small spade on her right wrist (♠). "How can I repay for your help," She inquired politely, though she was serious. She also wanted to keep him with her just a bit longer...for whatever reason, she felt safe with him.

He hadn't noticed her blush as he was more so focused on getting her from point A to B without dropping her; something he wasn't quite sure he could ever live down or ever lose embarrassment over even if it was only the two of them who would know about it. As she sighed with relief, he felt good internally for having helped her out. The thought again of what a hero was supposed to do crossing his mind. As she would lightly brush the hair behind her ears; something Ryker didn't think consciously of as he found his attention just drawn to her. Even if he was looking down a bit; she was a decent deal shorter than him, but he was kind of used to that. A fading thought in his mind was that she had a nice voice and eyes as she said it was a pleasure and thanked him; introducing herself as Mneme. Ryker had no clue how to spell that name in the slightest, and hoped he would never need to. He would smile in a friendly manner to her before noticing her gaze go down to her ankle and wincing as she checked it. He wished he knew anything about medicine to help but...it was just something that hadn't interested him before. "How bad is it?" he would ask, only to hear it was only swollen; no sprain or anything worse. Ryker felt some relief that her leg should be fine then with minimal outside intervention. He would note though, as she was checking, there was a black spade on her right wrist. Pretty small, and easy to miss, but it was there. "Nice tattoo by the way; I've always wanted to get one, but not sure what I would get yet," he would comment conversationally.
It was shortly after that she would ask if there were anyway to repay him for his help. Part of Ryker was tempted to ask for something in return, like maybe a kiss...but that part was squashed for the time being. He didn't want to take advantage of the girl like that after helping her, even if she was cute. "No reward needed, just glad I could help out. Not everyday you get to act like a knight in a fairy tale. Though...I suppose letting me keep your company till you have a safe way to get home would work if that is fine by you?" he would start while rubbing the back of his head, smiling cheerfully before going a bit more serious and speculative as he thought of something. Even if it was an unlikely reward in regard to himself. While it was silyl since he helped her out, he felt partially responsible for her safety now. Plus, he also wouldn't mind getting to befriend an attractive girl either. 'Today is going better than expected,' he thought to himself as he awaited a response from her.

Mneme Damsel in Distress
Mneme smiled kindly towards the young man when he commented on her tattoo. "Thank you. It's a replica of a birthmark elsewhere," the young woman replied calmly before asking how she could repay him. His reply was rather noble and amusing, earning a soft chuckle in responce. "A knight, huh? What a funny and interesting way to look at a situation," She thought to herself. Not long after his answer, she would hear the soft playing of a flute. "I can agree to that...And I would feel less nervous as well," Flavia replied softly before looking up at the leaves of the tree above them. A thought came to her mind as she listened to the music that she knew to be her sister; but, she would not let on that it was so. Turning dark eyes towards her companion once more as a gentle breeze played with their hair, she would rest a hand on his gently. "May I ask why you came to the park today," the young woman inquired with polite curiosity. "I wonder..." She pondered as she would listen to his reply, the music soothing as always to her ears.

'It feels like everyone has a cool birthmark besides me. I wonder where hers is,' he thought to himself; getting slightly perverse thoughts of where the actual one could be by as he shook such thoughts from his mind. As he commented on being a knight in a fairy tale, she would let out a soft chuckle; making Ryker glad he could get her to laugh after the events that had just recently occurred. As he awaited a yes or no, he would hear a flute or something start playing. He looked around briefly, to try and find the source, but upon hearing her answer his gaze would travel back to hers. She would agree to his request and say it would make her feel less nervous as well. He would smile reassuringly to her, and relaxed on the bench himself not that he would be here for a little bit. The sound of the flute still there, but not registering as anything to really pay attention to for him as he saw her gave go to the treetops. He would take the chance to admire her looks during it; also trying to guess her age but failing at it. The thought of today being a good day repeating in his mind. He would be broken from such thoughts in slight surprise as he found her eyes on his, and her hand on his. A blush could quickly cross and exit his face as he tried to hide it as the intimate feeling touch, not quite expecting it truthfully. Eyes quickly focusing on hers, a little surprise evident, she would ask him why he came to the park today.
Ryker had an internal sigh of relief that it was a simple and straightforward question as he would quickly answer. "I just came here to train truthfully. I was doing some target practice in the trees with my soccer ball to try and work on my accuracy; I didn't think i'd have to put it to the test so soon though. It's why I was able to help as quick as I did," he would explain truthfully to her. It was a strange series of events and coincidences that led to their meeting; not that he minded. "May I ask why a beautiful girl like yourself came to the park today?" he would ask of her in return curiously and with a bit of his usual flirtations, since she had asked of him. Noticeable, he had made no effort to remove his hand from hers; him enjoying the feeling and surprisingly feeling like he should not.

Mneme Damsel in Distress
The sun was pleasantly warm, the breeze floral yet gently blowing, the park was quiet for the most part. She could see nothing better than the events of today. Even with her ankle, the young woman was not deterred. The only annoyance was inside; she was not the type that Liked playing demur, but she'd do so for Fate's favor. It was also nice to have some company, and upon looking him over discreetly she assessed he was close to her age, if a little older.
Despite his surprise when her hand rested upon his, Flavia was glad he would not move his hand just yet. His reply both intrigued and amused the human girl. "I see. I was lucky indeed," Mneme replied softly, coyly as her eyes looked out over the park; its peaceful appearance was quite different from the inner thoughts of her mind. "It seems Fate is playing a big game today. I wonder if she heard my requests," She thought; it had been quite a while since she and her sisters had company, she had thought that the Lady had no need of them. It seemed she was jumping to such thoughts too soon.
Looking back to the young man as he had inquired of her the same questions, she gave a small playful smile. "Just had a feeling today would be a nice day for a walk," she had replied, smiling slightly at the irony of such a thing. "It wasn't all bad, I got to meet you..." The young woman added as the young man seemed to be about to mention earlier events. She then looked at the trees once more, enjoying the sounds of the flute as it changed to another tune after the first.

Had he not just had to save the girl's purse, he could've believed nothing unpleasant had occurred here today. It was a bit...strange, how quick things could go from chaos to barely believing anything could happen. 'How long ago was it that I believed Vale to be impervious to the Grimm?' he wondered to himself idly; the thought soon fading with present company. She would comment she had been lucky indeed that he was here while looking at the park. Ryker almost had a quick reply to follow it but chose not to voice it for the moment. 'Or perhaps I was the lucky one that got to help,' being the thought that had crossed his mind. As he asked what she was doing here, she would smile playfully saying she had a feeling today would be a good one for a walk. It made Ryker chuckle slightly given the circumstances that just occurred because of it. Though his soft chuckle paused when she said it wasn't all bad since she got to meet him. 'Is she into me?' was the immediate thought that crossed his mind then. It was always so much easier to tell for others compared to judging when it was for you.
He would dimly register the flute seemed to change what it was playing, but his thoughts were more focused elsewhere. "I guess I could say the same. Came here to train, and got to along with meeting you," he would say with a slight pause as he too looked at the park. Mind simultaneously running with thoughts and yet empty on how to continue truthfully. "Since we may be here a bit, till someone comes to pick you up, we may as well get to know each-other right? I'm a student at Beacon academy, like to play soccer, i'm undefeated in hide and seek. How about you?" he would ask of her curiously and give his own responses in a semi-joking manner. Usually he was pretty good and natural with conversation, but for some reason today he was having some trouble with it.

Mneme Damsel in the Park
Mneme smiled still as he spoke of training, she didn't have to ask why as he'd soon provide that answer himself. "Fate seems funny that way," Mneme commented, but was happy as well. His offer to get to know one another while they waited made her nod in response. "Not a bad way to kill time," She thought as she looked to the sound of the fountain in the distance, as well as enjoyed the flute that she knew so well. Looking back to her companion as he spoke her expression displayed surprise. "My, I would've never thought Beacon had such good-looking students," she had replied before giggling coyly. "Sorry, I didn't mean it in a bad way. As for hide-and-seek, we shall see if you can keep that title," The young woman clarified before pondering on her response to his quid pro quo.
She carried an easy-going and casual air about her as she looked up at the treetops above them. "hmm, we should be going soon," She thought, feeling her sisters were close, somewhere in the park. Or maybe it was her imagination. "I'm pretty good at hide-and-seek myself, as well as cat-and-mouse. I enjoy a variety of card games more though. I'm homeschooled by intelligent sisters," Flavia would answer, playfully teasing him in the beginning. "Okay, so are you Vale-born," The young woman asked, her eyes glinted with curiosity as she waited, eager to hear his reply.

"She does work in mysterious ways," he would comment as an aside before he would begin to ask about getting to know each other and saying a little about himself. Embellished, of course, but that was his style. After he spoke, she would look to him with a surprised expression commenting on how she never thought Beacon would have such good looking students which caused Ryker to smile, especially as she giggled cause of how it sounded. She would say sorry that she didn't mean it in a bad way, and that they would see if he could keep his title in hide and seek. Chuckling a little, Ryker would respond. "No need to apologize. Beacon has plenty of good looking people, though its mostly a girl school So the compliment is accepted; especially when it comes from a beautiful girl such as yourself," he would respond to her, pausing to let her continue. She would say she was good as hide and seek, and cat and mouse. That was a game Ryker was never sure how it was meant to be played; he never had experience himself outside of trying to avoid actual cats from getting him. She would add that she enjoyed card games more, and was raised by intelligent sisters. She would also ask him if he was vale-born, seeming eager to know on it. "It'll be fun to see who comes out on top in hide-and-seek then one of these days. Maybe we could even spice it up by adding stakes to who wins. How do you play cat-and-mouse by the way? I've heard of it, but never played it myself. And huh; what is it like to be homeschooled? I've only been in public school myself," Ryker would respond and ask, genuinely curious on his question. He would pause briefly before continuing. "To answer your question though, I was born and raised in Vale. Haven't really been anywhere else. What about you?" he would ask of her curiously in return, eyes on hers.
