Name: Shierra
Stage: Mage
Race: Fire/Water
Gender: Female

Age: 18-22
Height: 4'7"
Status: Plotted

Parents: Dexurn, Shadiya
Siblings: Kyril, Koril, Cahira, Pynar, Olokun, Omari

3 Base Traits: Determined/Stubborn, Thorough, Independent

Personality: Shierra is a headstrong gal who likes to do things on her own. Marked by a short temper and a love for fire, she is not one to mess with. Her base traits all combine into a young lady who loves risk taking, is fiercely loyal to her family, and makes sure she completes whatever task she has started.

She is not the most trusting of strangers, but does not ignore or avoid them either. She tries to give everyone the chance to show who they are, knowing that the package does not always mirror the heart or worth within. After all, she knows there are those who judge her for her hybrid status, and she is quite salty at them when they make their opinions known. She would rather treat others as she wants to be treated, even if her sparking personality doesn’t always express this desire in the clearest fashion.

Prentice – Class Affinity Solo
Mage

It started like any other challenge seemed to. Shierra’s anger had flared up over a disagreement with a visiting merchant, and a “rogue” flame had “accidentally” found its way to the cloth banner on the top of the snooty iceling’s wagon. It certainly made her feel better to see his shock, but what he had said after that continued to ring in her ears.

”Can’t you control your magic, girl?” he had snarled as he stomped off.

Not long after the encounter, Shierra found herself crouched down by a fallen log. It had scorch marks along nearly its entire side.. But Shierra looked less than pleased by what she was seeing. With a short growl, she stuck out her hand toward a clean part of the trunk. Motes of fire shot repeatedly at the dead wood, the image of a smooth line in her mind.

Again, it was more like tidal lines than a flat horizon. She snarled sharply and threw her arms up into the air. “So what?” she scoffed as she fell backward. “At least I can use it. I bet he doesn’t even know anything about magic.” The hybrid shook her teal locks and huffed sharply. “It doesn’t have to look pretty. It just has to get the job done!”

Staring up at the sky… Shierra could not help feeling how empty those words sounded in her head. Who was she kidding? Of course it had to be controlled. What kind of woman would she be if she could only ever use her magic ‘by mistake?’ Some day, she might need it to be precise! Could she really look at herself in the mirror if she couldn’t keep her own magic in line?

Shierra sat back up and glared at the log. “I can do it,” she huffed. She spun to face a different log and shot another succession of fiery motes at the fresh surface. Another wobbly line…. Shierra snarled and tried again. And again. And again.

Shierra had known she had magic even before she could walk. It had always prickled just under her skin, ready to emit once she was old enough. It was a part of her, and she was determined to tame it.

Prentice- Growth Quest Solo
Mage

The cave was dark and damp and seemingly endless; a maze of tunnels twisting around underground. Shierra held her torch high, peering into the darkness to no avail. She could barely see a thing, and even her fires seemed to light up less than usual. It was as though the emptiness of the cave sucked the light up like a thirsty mouth drinking from a cup of water.

“Yup. We’re lost,” Shierra sighed, looking back at her companion.

Verr was a boy around Shierra’s age with short blue hair and a scrawny figure and a rebellious streak about as wide as Shierra’s. His usually cool expression was dampened by shadows and an ill mood. “Of course you got us lost,” he huffed sharply. “I told you this was a bad idea, but did you listen? Nooooo- ow!” His thick complaint turned into a yelp of pain, now glaring while he rubbed at the arm that had been pinched. “Well, I did!”

Shierra rolled her eyes and let her arm drop back to her side. “It’s not like you fought it all that hard. You were just as interested in exploring here as I was.”

Verr pursed his lips. “Yeah, I wanted us to be alone together, but not forever!”

Shierra narrowed her eyes. “No no. You? Solidly in the friendzone, pal. Been over this.” She sighed and followed another prong of the tunnels with a wave of her hand for her friend to follow. “Besides, it won’t be forever. I’m not living the rest of my life stuck in here with you.”

“Oh, I’ll get out of that zone,” Verr crooned with a grin, earning himself another heavy eye roll, “but how are you going to get us out of here? Come on, you’re one of the most resourceful people I know. You have to think of something.”

Shierra flapped her arms with frustration. “Resourceful? With what resources? There’s rocks! There’s more rocks. Is that.. Yup, more rocks. My magic doesn’t cover moving the ground itself, Verr!” The hybrid stopped short and took a deep breath. She wasn’t certain of how long they had been wandering the winding tunnels, but her nerves were definitely on edge. “Look, just.. Keep walking. What else is there to do?”

After a moment of silence, Verr cleared his throat with a much more solemn tone. “Well.. what if we really don’t make it back? What sorts of things do you wish you had done differently?”

“Comin’ here with you is right at the top of my list there!” she snarled back. “We’re not dying here, now stop.”

As the tunnels stretched on like the emptiness in her belly, Shierra couldn’t help her mind wandering back to the subject proposed. If she didn’t make it back… she hoped her family knew that they were important to her. Shierra had readily fallen into the rebellious teen years, which meant plenty of misunderstandings with her parents and siblings. She wanted the chance to make sure they knew that she loved them above all else. She should have sassed her parents less, and encouraged her siblings more, and spent more time with the little ones…

She had never seen the need to speak any such thoughts outright. After all, she, like most teens with comfortable circumstances, considered herself very much separated from death. There would always be time for sentimentality later… It wasn’t exactly a new lesson, but it was a stark reminder as to how fragile “later” really was in the world.

Verr cried out excitedly. “Shierra! Look!”

Pulled from her thoughts, Shierra let out a shriek of joy. There was sunlight! Both teens ran forward and burst out into the open air and basked in the unrestricted space of the beach they had come out at.

“We’re alive!” Verr reached out to grab Shierra’s arms and pulled her in for a celebratory kiss, only to be met with a celebratory headbutt instead.

“Go home, you dork. ..Go tell your mom you love her. I’ll see you later.” Shierra wasted no time parting ways and heading home. She had some family members to talk to.

Conclusion: Exposed to the idea that her time on this world might end unexpectedly, Shierra is taking note of the importance of being clear about her feelings to those she cares about. Any moment could be the last, and she doesn’t want her family or friends thinking she did anything less than love them unconditionally.
