Alysanne Personality for sorting

Alys is the wild card of the Alouette family with a sense of adventure, wanderlust and freedom. She’s usually quite clever, but more importantly is her cunning and determination to get what she wants out of things--even if those things aren’t necessarily in her self interest. She lies with a silver tongue, and has an extraordinary discipline for hiding her feelings and intentions away, should she choose, which admittedly she usually does not-- usually she’s fairly openly snarky or comical about things.

Alys is assured, comfortable with herself in a low-key casual demeanor, but sometimes her assurance blinds her to her own weaknesses: She is not as good at reading people as she thinks, and her first impressions are often wrong. Still, Alys moves on with casual acceptance.

Finally, it can’t be understated that as relaxed and easygoing as she might seem, Alys is a doggedly hard worker when challenged will work tirelessly and creatively to solve the problem. One of her more beloved traits is her artistic ability to pull out what’s beautiful, captivating or essential about a subject and faithfully capture its radiance.

Julius Personality for sorting

Julius presents as closed off, stoic, and emotionless-- which is entirely not true: he feels very strongly, but is very bad at expressing or understanding his own emotions or others. He hides behind books and learning, behind academic walls and the assurance of reading, both fiction and nonfiction, and works through frustration with pure grit, self-deprecation and effort.

There is a sense of shame that hangs over him constantly: shame over his father’s death, but also shame over being in Jaren’s shadow. He is the quiet, introverted, cold, bookish brother, and his brother is the charismatic, popular, expressive, athletic brother. Everyone wants Jaren, not him. With time this has tempered him into someone that’s insecure, but thoughtful and gentle to the few friends he has.

In his teen years there is a sense of desperation to Julius’s person--desperate to have a friend, desperate to love, desperate to be heard.

s**t he’s bad at that he doesn’t (really) know: Expressing/ figuring out his feelings. Also passive/ unassertive until like mid-20s. E.g. Romance? He literally let his baby’s mother push him away from her over a miscommunication

Edaline Personality for Sorting

Edaline’s personality revolves around her childhood and divination ability: she was taught to always speak the truth of what she saw, however harsh or strange it seemed, and she was told to put Seeing for others above herself, even when she felt strained or lost in the future. Her parent's belief in her ability to See translated as a quiet but unshakable confidence in her own ability to See, and as she grew up, a responsibility to See and to help.

She did learn to lie, to say things that might influence people to a particular path, and learned to be quite manipulative-- but always for reasons that she thought or Saw made them happier. She’s resourceful in how she uses her Sight to gain insight on people or find answers, but oblivious to the boundaries of familiarity and rapport that normal people have.

Her experience traversing time has made her own sense of time a little wonky. And while she feels very keenly, she also has a fundamental acceptance of the future. Sometimes this acceptance and emotion blend, and she often apologizes for unfortunate predictions.

s**t she’s bad at she can’t understand: Time management definitely, but what she’s less aware of is her sense of boundaries is out of whack. In a sense, Edaline has zero sense of privacy and she not only sees nothing wrong with that, but openly uses it.

Among the first to be called, Edaline approached the stool and took her seat almost carefully. She had seen this moment before. Sitting on the stool, a low but almost reassuring whisper in her ear. And she had Seen possibilities the Sorting Hat would call.

Edaline looked towards Hufflepuff table. The yellow and black was welcoming and friendly, and she made out a few friendly faces there. She smiled. She could See happiness there, tired, cheerful faces, warm arms and understanding. She would love to join Hufflepuff.

But then she shifted her gaze over to the green and silver table against the wall. Slytherin. Edaline felt a sense of austerity in the students there, a sense of solemn, unbreakable trust. She had Seen cool, dark rooms, and inky movement on the walls with Slytherin. Yet it also called to her, as the siren depths called to a sailor or haunting voices called to the mad. Something about her belonged there.

Edaline closed her eyes. The hat was speaking now, and whether this was yet another dream of hers or the real Sorting, she needed to hear what it said.
