It’s the end of the year and we are knee deep in Holiday mayhem—and that means it’s time for a little fun!

If you’ve participated in our Winter Holiday Events of the past, you may notice that things are a little different this year. Instead of a large raffle, everything has been set up so that players can reach RP milestones and earn items themselves. While other prizes may pop up between now and the end of the event, we will not be running a shop-wide raffle. Instead, we have an assortment of IC RP Items, Growth Items, and Crown Tokens that players can earn by participating in writing for any of our prompts!

Roleplay opportunities will only be open from now until midnight EST on Monday, January 13th. Information about what the requirements to claim a prize, as well as a list of prizes, can be found below.

The majority of these events will be designed specifically with civilians in mind, so players with no characters, and players who only have non-human characters (such as Guardian Cats or Youma), are allowed to play a disposable. Please see our information on disposables a few posts down!

Ticket Opportunities

Tickets can only be earned through Holiday Event Roleplays or Event Prompts, so you must be active in the shop to earn prizes! Each event will have specific instructions, so please make sure to read the rules when you are signing up! The shop will be hosting events as well as putting up prompts. Links to all the events will be kept in this post, and all prompts will be listed here as well! To claim a ticket, you will need to fill out the following code and post it in this thread!

I AM CLAIMING A TICKET
Link to thread: [link to the thread you are claiming for; if you are responding to a prompt, make sure you indicate which prompt you are responding to either in this form or the thread!]

These tickets can then be spent cashing out on prizes listed below. There is no limit to how many tickets you can earn or how many times you can complete a prompt to earn a ticket, however you must write at least 500 words to each prompt or event before you can claim a ticket.

Events/ORPs

While each shop run ORP will have its own rules, a few general things are important to keep in mind! While players can include as many of their official characters as they want, you can only earn one ticket per link. This means, regardless of how many characters you play, you can only earn one ticket. To earn a ticket, you must write at least 500 words, though if you have multiple characters this can be spread out across them.

Open Events:

CYOA: The Ringing of the Bells

Closed Events:

N/A

Prompts

All prompt responses must be posted in the Mini-Event subforum and can be written as a solo, a regular, or a battle (if applicable!). These should be labelled [Holiday-S], [Holiday-R], or [Holiday-B]. If you roleplay a disposable, these will not count towards any growth requirements for them, but if you are roleplaying with someone who has a disposable, it can still count for growth for your official character. More information on disposables can be found in the next post! To receive a ticket for a prompt, you must write at least 500 words and should include the prompt either in your first post or in the code you post in this thread to claim a ticket. The roleplay does not have to be finished in order to claim a ticket, but it will need to be finished before it can be used for growth requirements. While these events are written so that you only need a civilian to participate, you can play a powered character if it seems feasible! There is no limit to how many of these prompts you can complete to earn tickets, and you may repeat the same prompt multiple times to earn more tickets. You only need to do as much as you want to do!

Current Prompts:

Quote:
The weather report called for snow, and a lot of it! Overnight, a foot of snow has covered Destiny City in a beautiful blanket of white, and schools and most businesses are closed! When you venture outside however, the air feels almost temperate, and picking up the snow is a lot like picking up some sun warmed sand at the beach. What might have caused this? Is it global warming playing some sort of trick, or just the imps that seem to linger in the city? The strangely warm snow day lasts for only a day though, by the next day, the air is bitterly cold again, and all of that wonderful snow is somehow gone without a trace!

Quote:
The night is cool but not unbearably cold; somewhere, in the distance, a faint tune carries on the breeze. Whether you choose to follow it or not is up to you but the tune is vaguely familiar. Maybe you can place it, maybe you can’t, but it resonates with you and you find yourself full of emotion. If you choose to follow the music you wind up in an isolated lake in the park. It’s frozen over, but you see a figure skating across the ice, playing a violin. They will skate and play for as long as you watch, but at some point--between one blink and the next--they disappear, like a shadow on the wind. The tune echoes but fades quickly, leaving behind only a strange emptiness. The figure never communicates and never leaves the lake; they never stop playing but if anyone gets too close they simply disappear. The music seems to play on any night it snows in the park.

Quote:
Snow on the ground glistens under the moonlight and seems to illuminate everything with an ethereal glow. Destiny City feels almost safe, even at night. The fresh fallen snow seems undisturbed and brings a sense of peace. Only, there’s something eerie about it. After a while, it feels like someone--or something--is watching you. In the shadows of the trees, a set of milky eyes watches. Whatever it is, it’s tall and bulky. If you walk quickly, you feel it follow you but once you leave the line of trees, it disappears. If you try to approach it, a great beast will screech at you: a six foot tall snowy white owl takes flight. It may tackle or claw at you, depending on how you approach it, but it will always take flight and disappear in the night. If you choose to attack it, for the next few nights any time you look out your window you will see glowing eyes in the distance--or worse, hear it scratching to get in. Eventually, the temperature rises and the visits stop. For now.

Quote:
You can meet many people throughout the year. Some you remember fondly and still greet and see to this day. Others… Well, animosity can grow, even when one doesn’t mean it. Perhaps it is the strong scent of pine and cinnamon in the air as you walk down a snowy path, or the twinkling lights above you that glitter and dance in the dim light of sunset, somehow a sense of regret fills your heart. Whether it is the desire to forgive, or the desire to be forgiven, you feel the desire to reach out to someone you haven’t spoken to in a long time. A long overdue talk is needed. But it is up to you to respond to that burden on your heart.

Quote:
Rainfall is rare in Destiny City in the winter time. There have been a few light showers between the occasional snow but it’s never been enough to be significant. In some places, it’s just enough for a thin layer of ice to cover the ground and make it a little slippery, but ultimately it’s not enough to worry about. In an inconspicuous place in town, you step into an ice filled hole and it shatters. The hole itself seems maybe three feet wide and if you’ve ever seen the hole before you know it’s only a few inches deep at most. Except, when the ice shatters, you fall, plummeting as if into a lake of frozen water. It’s pitch black beneath the ground and only pale blue lights shimmer above you. The darkness around you is never ending and you can’t make out the details of anything except the shrinking hole above you. Maybe you remember how to swim and pull yourself out, maybe you black out and feel someone else pulling you out--either way, your frozen, soaking body is pulled from the puddle. The chill is immense, but if you look at the hole after being pulled out, all you can see is the ground below. There’s no sign that what you saw was real--except for the water soaking you.

Quote:
Midnight is a magical time of night; parties, dancing, kisses--there are a number of rituals celebrated in the winter nights. Every night as a midnight, but this one is special. There is an old church with an older bell tower on the quiet outskirts of town near a beautiful forest that has been decorated with lights to celebrate the season. Maybe you are alone, maybe you are with friends, or maybe you’re at a party celebrating one of the many events--whatever the case, small, delicate snowflakes have been falling lightly for the past hour. And then--suddenly--they stop. The clock strikes midnight and the bell echoes a low, metallic chime that feels like it can be heard for miles. By the second chime, you realize that nothing else is moving. Snowflakes are suspended in the air and all living creatures--plants, animals, and people alike--are completely frozen. The clock chimes twelve times and the world is still frozen. Suddenly, there’s no way to tell how much time has passed--but nothing moves. Maybe it feels like a moment, maybe it feels like an hour. You can try to leave the area but you can never go far enough that the church is out of sight. In an instant, time seems to snap back into motion. To everyone else, it feels like no time has passed. To you, you know. The church seems eerie and foreboding and if you return you feel uncomfortable, as though you have broken something and are unwelcome. If roleplaying with a partner, multiple characters can remain unfrozen as the world around them freezes!

Quote:
Someone is always celebrating something in Destiny City and that means that fireworks are incredibly common. One night, a series of beautiful, shimmering lights illuminate the sky. It’s a gorgeous display, more so than usual. The air is clear and the lights glisten--and keep glistening. Even after the fireworks end, anyone who watched them will see lights as if reflected through crystals. The display makes everything seem more charming and beautiful. While some may find the experience disorienting or distracting, it’s not uncomfortable or unpleasant. It has the strange effect of making everything seem more appealing--even things that might otherwise be distasteful, painful, or unattractive. Mood may be improved, but effects fade after an hour or two.

Quote:
The candy cane was unlike any other that you’ve seen before, and it was even more surprising since it was hidden in a box of the normal red and white kind. It’s a beautiful blue with silver and clear stripes in it that seem to glisten. When you start to eat this holiday treat, it seems colder than normal, and after about fifteen minutes, part of your body seems a lot colder, in fact…it seems to have been turned to ice. The ice lasts for an hour and will not melt nor shatter. It then fades, with warmth finally coming back to the frozen body part. It doesn’t matter if you only take a taste of the wintery treat, the effect is the same no matter how much you ingest! Boy, this will sure stop you from thinking twice before eating strangely colored candy canes!

Quote:
The holidays are the best time to eat. Everything always seems to taste better during this time of year, and when you think about your favorite holiday food, it is so easy to dwell on something wonderful that you remembered from childhood. It might be something you think of often, or something you haven’t thought of in years, but when the thought comes into your head, within the next half hour you find the recipe, be it online or folded up in one of your coat pockets. It seems like a wonderful idea to try and recreate your wonderful memories, doesn’t it?

Quote:
This time of year is the busiest for mail deliveries; it’s not uncommon to receive the wrong package. On your doorstep is a box that looks like it’s from a completely different era; it is wrapped in brown paper and tied with dark twine. It has scuffs and scrapes and a yellowed name tag--with your name and address on it. There is no return address and no indication where it came from. If you open it up you will find some sort of timeless item that feels as though it is easily decades old. It may not be particularly valuable, but this item seems to have been lost to time--and somehow ended up in your possession. Any time you look at it you are filled with the same sensation of timelessness.

Prize List

Prizes for this year are not competitive, you can simply earn as much as you’d like through participation! To keep track of your tickets you will need to post in this thread; each player should have only one post and should update that post when new tickets are earned, either through starting new prompt based RPs or Solos, or earning them in events. A ticket can only be claimed when the player has written 500 or more words per prompt or event. The player should also post their prize claim in the same post, using the below format:

TICKET CLAIM

RP/Solo Event Title
PRIZE CLAIM
Trading [x] Tickets for [Prize]

Ticket Exchange

Once a player accumulates a certain number of tickets, they can exchange it for different prizes. Players may choose to give their earned tickets to another player, but these need to be recorded in both player’s posts. These prizes are different from the Individual Participation Prizes! A player can claim the Individual Participation Rewards as listed in a following post and turn in tickets for prizes! Please make sure that all IC RP Items, Crown Tokens, and Growth Items are logged in their appropriate threads after you claim.

Tickets can be exchanged for prizes at the following rates:

Quote:
2 Tickets: 1 IC RP Item [Limited Time IC RP Items from this year’s prize pool or any Standard IC RP Items]
3 Tickets: 1 Crown Token [Limit 1 Per Player]
3 Tickets: 1 Henshin Pen Growth Item
5 Tickets: 1 Permanent RP Item

LIMITED TIME IC RP ITEMS

These items will only be obtainable in this Holiday event, and possibly other future Holiday events! While you can win these as prizes, you can also purchase them for crown tokens from now until January 31st! To claim one, please just post your Crown Token Claim in this thread!

Quote:
Smoky Ornament - A pretty glass ornament that appears to have some sort of smoke swirling inside.
The ornament hangs on a little golden string and the smoke swirls naturally on its own. If the ornament is thrown against the ground, all hostile enemies within a ten foot radius will hear a horrible ghostly wail that pierces their ears and disorient them for 45 seconds. This magic can only be used once but, after the magic ends, the ornament is returned to its original form. It might not have any magic, but it's a nice memento!

Quote:
Glittery Ornament - A pretty glass ornament that is filled with shimmering glitter.
The ornament hangs on a little golden string and the smoke swirls naturally on its own. If the ornament is thrown against the ground, all hostile enemies within a ten foot radius will be affected by a stunning light display that blinds and disorients them for 45 seconds as the glitter storms around them. This magic can only be used once but, after the magic ends, the ornament is returned to its original form. It might not have any magic, but it's a nice memento!

Quote:
Snowy Ornament - A pretty glass ornament that looks like it is is filled with frosty snow and is slightly cold to the touch.
The ornament hangs on a little golden string and the smoke swirls naturally on its own. If the ornament is thrown against the ground, all hostile enemies within a ten foot radius will be affected by a chilly winter storm that can freeze and buffet them with cold winds for 45 seconds. This magic can only be used once but, after the magic ends, the ornament is returned to its original form. It might not have any magic, but it's a nice memento!

Quote:
Antique Tophat - An old, well-worn, black tophat.
When this tophat is placed atop any inanimate object, its magic will morph both it and the object into a golem based off of that object. The golem cannot speak any intelligent or understandable words but it can fulfill base commands. It is durable and has as much physical strength as a Knight or General but it has no magical abilities. The golem can still be destroyed with adequate force but without external destruction it can manifest for up to 6 hours unless dismissed prematurely by their creator. These golems will always take a humanoid form and can be a maximum of six feet tall, though they may manifest much smaller depending on player desires. Once the magic fades, the inanimate object and the tophat both return to their original forms. The tophat may not have any magic leftover, but it can be kept as a memento!

Quote:
Guiding Lights - A string of holiday lights that are varying in size, shape and color; they are meant to be worn as a necklace.
The crystal bulbs naturally catch the light and reflect it with an almost magical, cheery glow. You cannot find a battery pack but the lights seem to naturally illuminate the area when worn. When you first put the necklace on, the lights around you seem to dim and you are transported to a time and place from your past, either this life or the one before, and you witness a Holiday celebration that you had forgotten. The vision lasts for up to two hours, and when it ends, it is as though no time has passed in the real world. The lights on your necklace are not quite as bright, though they are still as warm as ever. The necklace will not cause any more visions but can be kept as a memento!

PERMANENT ACCESSORIES

These are a special type of IC RP Item that do not expire upon use! A player will be able to win these in events or purchase them for 3 Crown Tokens! These are a permanent edition to the shop! Each character can only earn one of each item, and items are non transferable from character to character or player to player. There is no limit to how many a player can acquire, so long as they have enough characters to give them to! Please be mindful that, as a new introduction to the shop, there may be hiccups or adjustments made to this system. These items may be owned by civilians, but not all of the items may be usable by civilians. If you have questions about how a civilian may use one of the below items, please contact The Space Cauldron before purchasing one for them so we can answer any questions!

Quote:
Timeless Camera - A small instant camera that prints a photo the moment you take it.
When a photograph is taken with this camera, it automatically prints out the hard copy within a few seconds. The image is on normal, glossy paper, but unlike the normal, still image of a photograph, this one moves. The image will be animated, showing the few seconds before and after the photograph was taken. It replays on an endless loop and will do so until the photograph is damaged in any way. There is no indication where the camera came from; there is no way to really take it apart and investigate how it works or what it uses. The camera has infinite paper and ink, prints with impeccable clarity and color. It can only be used once per day.

IC RP ITEMS

These are IC RP Items that are not limited edition and have been permanently added to our list of purchasable IC RP Items. Like other single use IC RP Items, these will only cost 1 Crown Token to purchase. There will be opportunities to win some of these during our event, though, so if you are interested, make sure you are keeping your eyes on things! To claim one, please just post your Crown Token Claim in this thread!

Quote:
Memory’s Film - A cartridge with enough film to take a single photo.
This item can only be used in conjunction with the permanent item, the Timeless Camera. When this item is in range of the Timeless Camera, a slot on the camera will pop open on the camera and the cartridge can be inserted. If strong emotions related to you or a past life is present in that area, the next picture taken will not be of the scene before you, but of the past. This works for both civilian and powered memories and will most frequently resonate while on planets and wonders. In the picture, ruins can become pristine and new and the world will be captured as it was in the past. Mysterious individuals, familiar or new, will appear in a scene that lasts from thirty seconds to a minute. The memory in the photo does not need to have been unlocked to capture it. The photo should depict something personal and not meta related; the photo will keep and will continue to replay the scene unless it is damaged in any way. If you are even remotely concerned that the memory you wish to capture may be questionable, please contact The Space Cauldron with a rough idea of the scene you wish to capture so we can approve it for you!

Winning Procedures

All roleplays, solos, or event participation must be started and have reached word count by the time the event ends at midnight EST on Monday, January 13th. Any roleplay or solo started after this point, or that reaches word count after this point, cannot be used to claim a new ticket. You have until midnight EST Sunday, January 19th to make final prize claims; after that point in time, the thread will be locked. You may edit your claims until the 19th, so if you claim for a prize and change your mind on it later during the event, this is fine! Whatever your post claims when the thread is locked is what you will have officially earned.

Please also remember to edit your claim into your IC RP Item Log thread post!

If you have questions about claiming tickets or other Raffle procedures, please PM the shop mule and we will get back to you as soon as possible!

Disposables

If you don't have a character in the shop yet, that's okay! Players may use a quest character or a character they create on the spot to participate in event only roleplays and prompts. You can only roleplay your character in the Mini-Event subforum. When setting up a new thread, you must put an asterisk next to your character's name to indicate that they are not officially won. For example, you might write a solo based off of a prompt and it would be titled [Event Solo] Title [Name*]. If you are participating in an ORP, the rules may be different so please read each thread accordingly!

If you are a new member of the shop and do not have a character in the shop and want to respond to a prompt by writing either a solo or roleplay, please fill out the following form and put it in a spoiler in your first post! Even if you have filled it out for other events or threads, you must include this in every new thread you are involved in.

Character’s name:
Age:
Appearance:
Personality Traits: (list 2-4 virtues and an equal number of flaws; these can be one word descriptions of each trait and do not need explanation)

Remember, your character must be unawakened and human, and should be a fairly believable character. If you have questions about what might be acceptable, please contact a member of our moderator staff for answers! You can also PM the shop mule The Space Cauldron and we'll get back to you as soon as possible!

If you already have a character in the shop, you should not play a disposable unless all your characters are either unplayable or cannot participate. For example, if you have a character who is currently in the hospital and could not believably be involved in anything, you could play a temporary disposable. If you only have a full-youma and cannot justify them putting on a civilian glamour to participate or the prompts do not in any way relate to them, or if you have a Mauvian who does not have a civilian glamour, you can play a disposable instead--however, you must PM the shop mule to give us a brief explanation as well as provide the character form in your PM. We just want to make sure everything checks out, so this will be a quick approval and is just to make things easier on us!

Playing a disposable in this event does not mean they will die! You can quest for these characters at a later point in time, if you so choose! Remember, if the character has not been officially won and arted, none of your RPs will count towards their growth, but you are still eligible for prizes or RP related rewards! Playing a disposable during this event does not guarantee that you will receive your character, but it's a good opportunity to get your feet wet!

You may use your disposable to earn tickets to exchange and for the Individual Participation Rewards!

Individual Participation Rewards

Individual Participation Rewards are rewards for participation without any competitive nature! For every five roleplays or solos that reach 500 words, a player can claim one IC RP item--from our regular pool of one time use IC Items, from our current Limited Edition IC RP Item Pool, or any item from a previous Limited Edition IC RP Item Pool (with the exception of any items that were given out as special/exclusive rewards in certain RPs). You cannot claim an IC RP Item or any Item that was winnable in a player run event, however you have access to any IC RP Item given out in a similar staff run event.

You can claim up to three one time use IC RP Items through this method! However, if you participate in ten roleplays or solos that reach 500 words, you will have the option to claim one permanent accessory in place of one IC RP Item! This means, if you do fifteen roleplays or solos, you could claim two one time use IC RP Items and one permanent accessory, or you could claim three one time use IC RP Items.

These roleplays or solos can come from ORPs, prompts, or mini games; you can repeat prompts to count for this! These roleplays do not have to be finished before the month ends, but we will be keeping our eyes on roleplays to make sure they are moving forward; we want to reward players for their activity, but if roleplays are being started and only played to word count without actually finishing, this will negatively impact how we choose to release more permanent accessories to the shop. Please try to finish all of the roleplays you start!

To claim these RP Items (one time use items or permanent accessories) you will need to use the following form and post in this thread:

I would like to turn in (#) roleplays for an IC RP Item!
link
Trading for: (Which item are you claiming?)
Giving to: (Which of your characters will be obtaining this? (This is only necessary if claiming for a permanent accessory!)

Please also remember to edit your claim into your IC RP Item Log thread post!

RP Opportunities

Additionally, to any player who completes 500 words to at least ten roleplays or solos, they have the option to participate in a one on one RP for a plot based interaction with any of our NPCs. These interactions may feature special missions or information depending on the faction and NPC. Chaos NPCs, such as any Negaverse General King or Queen, or Queen Laurelite, can be interacted with by any faction, however Negaverse characters may receive a special task and/or information while interacting with them. Cosmos can be requested for Senshi or Knights, the Code can be requested for Knights. A mysterious NPC from Mirrorspace will interact with Dark Mirror Senshi or anyone with access to a mirror. Order characters may also receive a special communication from Caedus.

These roleplays will be responded to in a timely manner by staff but players can reply at their leisure. These roleplays are designed to be done between one character and one NPC, however special circumstances may allow a player to request another player be permitted to be involved. The player may choose any of their characters and any compatible NPC; some NPCs are unavailable to certain factions so if you have any questions, please feel free to ask! If you wish to use a civilian to interact with an NPC, please reach out to us to discuss who you would like to use and what role they play in the war so we can ensure a meaningful interaction.

To claim this interaction, please PM The Space Cauldron with your chosen character, your chosen NPC, and any special information that may be important. Please also include a link to the ten roleplays or solos with at least 500 words. You will only have until the end of the event, midnight EST January 13th. You may claim this interaction as soon as you start ten roleplays or solos that reach 500 words. You can claim RP Opportunities multiple times if you desire, you simply need ten new valid RP or Solos for each claim.

Please remember that if you are claiming an item based on your participation, you cannot gift this item to anyone else! This is for you, and you alone!
