Professor Magnolia is the leading expert of Dynamaxing, and her pokemon research lab is the crown jewel of Wedgehurst, Galar. She is looking to retire soon and hopes to leave her lab to Sonia, her granddaughter and assistant. However, Sonia is not quite sure if this is what she really wants, and until she is ready, Professor Magnolia is no less dedicated to helping the next few challengers of the Galar league.
The three starter pokemon they offer are the grass type, Grookey, the fire type, Scorbunny, and the water type, Sobble. Choose your new partner wisely, and if you find it hard to pick, don't worry too much; you'll meet many pokemon on your journey to add to your team. You might even see one of these fellows again, because rumor has it all of the professors have a constant hankering for chocolate, so if you bring Professor Magnolia or Sonia a RageCandyBar, they'll offer you another one of their starters!
Post here once and quote a crew member when your Trainer License (Character Profile) is in order, and once your profile has been approved, someone will NPC and interact with you as Professor Magnolia and Sonia, making sure your get your starter, Pokedex, an infinite amount of Pokeballs and potions to start your character off. All starters obtained at the pokemon lab are level 5 with normal coloration. Remember to keep all of your Items and Pokemon information (attacks, level, HP, EXP, etc) somewhere in your posts.
Professor Magnolia's lab exits to Wedgehurst Town, so when you are done here, you may leave and step out into the big wide pokemon world.

It had been a long ride on the train from Motostoke to Wedgehurst. Especially with the fact that Joseph was taking this trip alone. Usually, he would ride with one of his mothers since he wasn't fond of the idea of going alone anywhere due to how he feared what might happen if not with someone, but he knew he needed to be brave and try to be a good pokemon trainer like his elder twin brothers.
Once he got to the small town of Wedgehurst, he had walked to the professor's lab and stood there staring at the purple door. His eyes focused on it as he started to pace somewhat in a circle. He needed to relax. He had heard that the members of the lab were all nice people, but he felt so nervous. He was usually always with his family, so socializing outside of it made him nervous. He started to tug on his long chocolate brown hair as he tried to calm his nerves.
After a few minutes, he took a deep breath and reached out to touch the doorknob. Turning it he pushed the door open and slowly walked inside as he looked in awe at the large room with wall upon wall of books. His golden eyes looking around the room for any sign of Professor magnolia or her assistant. "Hello?.....Anyone here..." he asked slightly nervous like as he stood in the doorway. Afraid to move out of disturbing anyone further in the lab that may not want him to come in or not without them knowing.
A young face popped out from behind a book shelf, and soon smiled at Joseph. "Hi there!" she greeted, stepping out with a pep to her step. She walked over and stopped before the young man with her hands on her hips. "Can I help you? Are you here for a starter pokemon?" she asked. Usually that was the reason most people came by, though occasionally it was with dynamaxing questions, or some other research purposes. Giving Joseph a look over, she actually wasn't sure what his reason for being there might be. He looked quiet enough to be more interested in the books than pokemon.

Joseph's eyes scanned the room, hoping to see a human or even a pokemon that may tell him what to do. Sadly though, when something suddenly popped out from behind a bookshelf, it nearly spooked the poor male enough that he almost backed up right into the door out of shock. It seemed to be the professor's assistant though as she came out from behind the shelf and made her way over. He took a few deep breaths to calm his nerves before he nodded at the question. "Yes...i..i was hoping to get my starter pokemon...today...if...if that's alright.." he said nervously as he held onto his backpack strap the hung across his chest. He needed to calm down. He knew that this woman wasn't a danger to him. His brothers had met with the professor and her assistant not but two years prior to today. And his brothers had said they were both really nice to them. He needed to relax and not freak out like he usually did around strangers.
Sonia blinked at the stuttered response, but put on a pensive expression, one finger placed to her lips as she looked up. "Oh, well... Sure! I mean we can definitely get you a starter. My grandma is kind of out at the moment, but..." She trailed off and looked around. Humph. Guess she was going to have to do this herself. Turning, she put on a brave smile, arms akimbo. "Well! Do you know which one you'd like? We have Scorbunny, the fire type, Grookey, the grass type, and Sobble, the water type! I can release them all if you want to give them a look!" she offered.

Joseph stood there as he waited to hear what the woman in front of him would say. His eyes looking at the other with a look of nervousness and slight anticipation. So when the other said the professor was out, it made a saddened expression come to the mocha-skinned male, only to be brought back into a smile when the other had said she could do it. He listened as she explained what pokemon he could choose from. His eyes closing as he thought about it. He then opened his eyes once more and nodded as he remembered what he had wanted to choose today. "I.I was hoping to get a scorbunny. My elder brothers...said they had chosen grookey and Sobble..when they had come...So...I wanted to have the type they didn't get..." he said flushing slightly as he tightened his grip on the backpack strap. Though he looked concerned suddenly. "I..I want to make sure they like me though.. I...I wouldn't want them to come along if they didn't seem interested..." he said slightly nervous again as he thought about taking a scorbunny that may not even like him in any way. He didnt want his partner to hate him.
Hands back on her hips, Sonia peered at Joseph as he considered his choice, but she smiled as he made it. "Sure thing, buddy!" she replied, straightening up. She dropped her arms and strode over to grab a pokeball, spinning around before tossing it up into the air. "Here! Introduce yourself!" she offered, releasing the Scorbunny. Of course, they had a few, if things went really wrong, but it was usually best to let luck play its hand and go with the first on hand whenever possible. At least, she thought so.

Joseph blinked when the woman turned and went to grab the Pokeball. The mocha-skinned male stood there with anticipation when the ball was thrown into the air and out of it came a red light that soon made an adorable scorbunny appear in front of him. Joseph's eyes seemed to sparkle at the cute little fire rabbit pokemon. He kept his distance for a few minutes while the pokemon adjusted to being outside its Pokeball. Which then he approached it slowly and knelt down in front of the rabbit pokemon who looked between Sonia and Joseph. When Joseph sat on his legs in front of the pokemon. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a homemade cookie he had made to help the pokemon he may take to relax around him. "Hello there little one~" he said as he seemed to change slightly from his usual stuttering towards Sonia and seemed to return to his usual self when around pokemon or with his family.
The scorbunny blinked as it looked up at the unknown male. Her ears twitching slightly on her head. This made Joseph smile as he broke the cookie in half and offered it to the scorbunny. "Here. I brought a little treat. I made this myself. So I hope you like it." he said gently. The pokemon blinking at the cookie before taking it from Joseph after seeing the male had bitten into the half he kept to show it wasn't anything dangerous.
When the scorbunny bit into it her cheeks flushed as she started to jump around on the spot happily enjoying the sweet cookie. This made Joseph smile as the two of them ate their halves of the cookie before Joseph started to speak again. "I am Joseph. I was wondering...if you would like to be my new partner. If you don't want to I understand. I want to make sure it's your decision though." he said gently as the female scorbunny looked up at Joseph curiously, her ears twitching slightly as she looked up at Sonia, then back at Joseph. Soft calls before she approached him and gently hopped onto his lap. Making happy calls as if telling him she was okay with coming with him.
This made Joseph smile happily as he reached down and lightly hugged the scorbunny before looking up at Sonia. His cheeks flushing slightly as he was happy knowing that the scorbunny was happy to come with him. "This is..the pokemon for me..." he said with a stutter again as he held the scorbunny in his arms and started to stand up. Once standing up, he looked down at the female scorbunny as she made soft playful jabs at his chin. It made Joseph chuckle as he lightly tried to jab at her back with his free hand that wasn't holding the pokemon close to him.
Sonia watched the two socialize, lifting a hand to giggle lightly behind her fingers. They were adorable. Her head tilted to the side and she lowered her arm back down, but she smiled as they seemed to come to an agreement, and Joseph stood up to make his decision. "I'm glad to hear it! Here-- a few things to help you on your journey~" She winked and made a signal for him to hold on a moment, before she walked over to grab a pokedex, register it, and return with a trey carrying the pokedex and several potions and pokeballs to help him get started. "Here you go. Good luck on your journey, Joseph," she offered sincerely.
Joseph blushed happily as him and his new partner played around alittle. When Sonia mentioned to stay put, he nodded silently as he nuzzled his cheek against the scorbunny's cheek. Making the fire rabbit giggle happily at the affection. Though when Sonia returned with a tray with a pokedex, some pokeballs, and potions. It made Joseph smile timidly as he walked over and sat his scorbunny on the floor for a few minutes while he put everything offered to him in the correct spots on his person and in his backpack. He even made sure to latch his newest pokemons pokeball on a spot on the backpack strap to better have access to it in case of battles or emergencies.
He then held his arms out for the pokemon to jump into his arms, and smiled gently at his pokemon. "I should really give you a nickname. Hmm....How about Nova...After supernova. I thought it would be a cute name for a cute little scorbunny like you?" he asked curiously as Nova's eyes seemed to light up and she started to cheer happily at the name. Which made Joseph chuckle as he smiled. He then nodded and nuzzled the pokemons cheek once more before looking over at Sonia and bowing his head as a thank you. "T..Thank you...Ill..Ill take good care of Nova..." he said happily and with a few stutters before he made his way out of the laboratory and right into Wedgehurst town.

The soft clickity clack of the train as it moved along the track, hardly bothered most of the passengers. It was actually a rather soothing sound, for those who were not in ownership of some sort of electronic device to block out the noise. In a private cart soft classical music could be heard from within, sitting in this private room rested a young adult male. Pure white hair poured over his shoulders, his eyes a silvery blue gazed out the window barring little to no enthusiasm as the landscape passed by. Anyone with half a brain would quickly pick up that the male was... bored. He'd barely taken ten minutes from the station in Unova's Castelia City to get lost in thought. The idea of traveling by train already dragged his mood down. And now he was to adventure across a foreign county? The premise of gigantic Pokemon who fought at the side of their masters was intriguing indeed, but did it really necessitate his being there? Ten or Nine could of easily taken this job. Though Ace held these thoughts, he was never one to question his father and king's orders.
Rolling hills quickly turned to farmland, and from there a small insignificant town pulled into view. As the train slowed it's velocity, Ace found life in his gaze, turning his icy look upon the empty seat before him. Had be been allowed, the male would of liked to bring his trusted team of Pokemon with him on this excursion. But no, he had to 'play a part'. A college graduate taking a break from the life of an adult, to live the life he'd been forced to go without. To catch up with lost opportunities and truly find what he wanted to do with his life. This was the part he was to play, this was his new identity. With his new identity came new, fresh Pokemon he had to train and use to travel across the world... all for his majesty.
Rising from his seat at the train came to a stop, the young male caught his appearance in the reflection of the glass window. Reaching a hand to his coat pocket, the male tugged at it slightly to straighten it out. "Well, at least I got to keep my clothes." He huffed, raising a hand to flip his hair behind his back. One more quick glance of his face and the male left with at least some satisfaction in his appearance. It was from there, he followed his instructions to a 't'. Asking for assistance to find the Professor's lab, feinting ignorance and incompetence to get people to direct him in the proper direction. He heard a couple times people comparing him to their Champion, Leon. "How can anyone get lost in such a filthy little insignificant town?" Ace had muttered under his breath at least once. Eventually, though he made it to the Professor's lab. With no hesitation, and his patience growing thin, Ace pushed through the doorway and entered the lab.
"Excuse me?" The male began. "If the Professor is in, I am here to claim.." He paused for but a second before letting out a rather heavy sigh. "er, that is to say I am here to get my Pokemon, Sobble?" At once his icy blue stare softened. And he relaxed his shoulders, letting his weight rest back on his heels. "I would be Alphonse. Alphonse Roudrick." A fake name to befit his fake persona, of course. As he slowly looked around the room, observing the plethora of foliage growing off to the side like some small indoor jungle. It was now time to play the waiting came.

Well, that was... quick. Ace had expected an older woman appearing before him, but instead was greeted by a young red-head who was dressed far to... well it wasn't to his liking. Regardless he played his part, and she hers. Once he'd been gifted his things, the male gave a quick bow to the woman and took his leave. Once outside, Ace released his new Pokemon from it's ball. The small... lizard-like creature looked up at Ace cocking it's head to the side. It looked at him confused more than amused. "I am Ace, your master." the silver-haired male voiced. "Follow." Leaving no room for rest Ace was already taking his steps away. At once the Sobble scrambled after Ace. It wasn't sure what was going on yet, but Magnolia and Sonia had explained that one day it would become the partner to a trainer. It figured 'master' was just another human word for trainer.

✧✧【The feeling of sitting in a train cabin, listening to the noise of the wheels clattering along the track while the scenery went by outside was hardly unfamiliar to the red-haired young woman as she sat across from her seatmate, her Delphox companion who had faithfully served both her and her family for many years. Lambrusco had been her father’s Pokemon, and perhaps one of the few possessions she had left to remember Samuel by after the day he suddenly vanished from her life. Quite literally at that… All she had left that gave her any clues on what may have happened during the time before he mysteriously disappeared off the face of the planet with no warning was the letter and the key she’d found in his old study, and the scattered pieces of information saved on the USB in her bag. All of which pointed towards Galar where she might be able to do some digging to find answers. So that’s where Eveline was going, she’d bought a ticket for the next train leaving Lumiose for Wedgehurst immediately after her discovery and skipped town the moment it arrived. She’d made sure to secure a decent private cabin for the ride, not the most luxurious option available but she didn’t think it necessary to throw away more money just for the sake of paying for first class. Gin, her Luxray, reclined next to her, napping the train ride away while Tonic, her Torracat, sat in the opposite seat by Lam gazing out the window bored out of her mind. The Delphox, in the meantime, busied himself looking over a brochure while sipping away at a cup of ginger tea.
Eveline checked through her bag for everything she’d need, her disguise kit, her weapons (kept well concealed so they could actually board the train), her cigarettes, her fake ID, and her new Rotom Phone that her friends in Galar had sent to her after she unceremoniously trashed her old Xtransceiver so it couldn’t be used to track her. There was also that odd looking egg she’d been carrying along for the past few months, a kind of ‘souvenir’ she’d snatched up from that b*****d’s lab before she’d razed it to the ground. She had no idea what the hell he was doing with it, then again she was never privy to the exact details of Doctor X’s M.O. as he kept it pretty under lock and key. It hadn’t hatched yet even though it’d been in her possession for months, then again she’d mostly kept it hidden away in her bag during that time. Maybe she could try to hatch it during her journey, see what kind of Pokemon Doctor X was breeding to use in whatever weird, ******** up experiments he was doing…
”Have everything you’ll be needing for our journey?”Lam spoke up suddenly, his eyes looking at her from over the pamphlet in his hands,”While I’m sure you’ve managed to at least slow down any progress on Void’s part to track us, even though burning down that lab was probably… a bit excessive, if they’re at least aware of Galar’s existence now there’s no telling how safe we might actually be there.”Tonic snorted derisively and tossed her head, feeling quite proud of her handiwork back there.”No regrets,”she said in a plain, casual manner,”The jackass had it comin’ anyways.”Necessary or not, she still would’ve burnt the whole damn place down just out of pure spite anyways. She ignored the somewhat annoyed side-eyed look Lam gave her, the scenery outside the window far more interesting right now.
”Well, surely it’ll be fine az long az we keep a low profile and don’t draw too much unnecessary attention, I already got ze disguise shtick taken care of. And we’ll be on zee move pretty much all ze time,” Eveline suggested, checking her reflection with her kit’s compact mirror to make sure the scar was at least well covered up, ”Besides, when have I ever been wrong?” The Delphox’s eyebrows shot up a bit for a moment before his face went back to a neutral expression, his eyes lowering to look at the Galar brochure once more.”Mmm…”With his free hand he tapped a claw against the polished tabletop in a steady rhythm, once, twice, three times… ”Oh ******** off,” the redhead retorted aloud, narrowing her eyes at the Delphox before averting them to look out the window with a huff, ”I know I’ve messed up before but I’m not that bad.” Lam heaved a heavy sigh and shook his head.”All I’m saying is this is a very serious situation we’re in, and there’s no telling what can happen if mistakes are made. There’s not a lot of room for much in terms of ‘margin of error’, if you get my meaning,”he met her gaze once more, expression serious before it gradually softened as he ran a hand through his orange fur,”I just really hope you know what you’re doing, Eve. I’m willing to trust you with that at the very least.”
The redhead blew out a breath, a touch nervous but more frustrated as she nodded her head in understanding. ”Me too, Lam..." The old fox had every reason to be disappointed in her, but she was thankful that in spite of everything he knew she needed him and his support more than ever. In any case, it seemed their stop was arriving now, the wheels screeching and a loud WHOOSH sounding out as the train pulled into the station. Lam closed up the pamphlet and knocked back the last few dregs of his rapidly cooling tea before standing up, giving his trainer a meaningful look. Nudging Gin with her elbow to wake him up as Tonic did a couple cat stretches and popped her neck both ways before leaping down from the seat, Eveline collected all of her belongings and moved to rise from her seat as well. She gave her face one last check in the compact mirror before tucking it away, exiting their cabin to step out onto the platform and into the small, quaint looking town of Wedgehurst. The air here felt cool and crisp as they made their way through, catching the nearby calls of a berry vendor hawking his goods for sale and the distant ‘Bahs’ of a herd of Wooloo further in the background. It was a nice, serene looking town, well out of the way of the hustle and bustle of the big cities with plenty of nature and farmland around, a definite far cry from the near 24/7 glamour and flashiness of Lumiose. She could see why the Essers had chosen to live here in particular, this definitely felt like it would be the perfect place to settle down in. Unfortunately, that wasn’t a luxury she could afford right now.
Quickly shooting off a text to their little group chat to notify the twins of her arrival, Eveline made her way towards what was surely the professor’s lab. It was hard to miss it, really, given that it looked like literally no other building around here with its Tudor house-like exterior. Interesting choice of design, she’d say that much at least. Slowly opening the door, the redhead peered inside as she entered, looking around for any sign of the apparently elderly professor who worked here. ”Miss Magnolia? Are you in right now?” she asked, making sure her light accent was hidden well enough, ”I’m Lucia Cross, just here to pick up my starting items and a Pokedex for my journey if you don’t mind. I don’t have any real need of a Pokemon right now.” She technically already did have a Sobble with her, Zane had found the little lizard waiting outside of the Pokemon Center one day when he was bringing in a Wooloo with an injured hoof to do a check up on it. He didn’t know who she belonged to and no one had come forth to claim her, so he decided to give her to Eveline as a sort of welcoming gift for her journey in Galar.
Now that she could actually get a good look around this place, she was a bit surprised to see that it didn’t look so much like a Pokemon research lab as it did a… library-greenhouse? No doubt all of those books were full of scientific stuff about Pokemon and this whole ‘Dynamaxing’ phenomenon that had first been discovered in Galar, but the sheer amount of them lined up in the shelves stretching from wall to wall was almost downright absurd. And what would a Pokemon professor need a greenhouse of all things for? Tonic, on the other hand, was far more interested in the books, perhaps a touch too interested for it to mean anything good.”Mmm, I spy wit’ my lil’ eye… somethin’ flammable…”Tempting as it was to see just how big a fire she could start with all of those, the Torracat begrudgingly remained where she was as the sharp warning glares of both Lambrusco and Gin kept her in check, for now at least…】✧✧

A boisterous greeting, accompanied by the sound of nails clicking across cool tile, rang throughout the small laboratory before a bright-haired woman appeared from behind the bookshelves. Seconds later, an eager Yamper popped into view, before making a beeline for Eveline and her pokemon. "Sorry to disappoint you, but Professor Magnolia -- that's my Gram -- is out in the field right now," Sonia informed, an apologetic smile at her lips to help ease the news. "Luckily! I'm more than capable of handing out a few items and a pokedex. Just give me a bit to get you all sorted out." Donning herself with a more 'professional' attitude, Sonia excused herself to grab Eveline's items, only to pop her head back out merely seconds later. "I'm Sonia, by the way!"
While the professor's granddaughter went about collecting, Yamper kept itself entertained by greeting, and getting up and personal, with Eveline's pokemon. A sniff here, a playful wag there, and then a quick bouncy circle around the medium, red cat that had been eyeing the books. By the time Sonia returned, a parcel and pokedex in hand, Yamper had had its fill of meeting new friends, and trotted back to its owner with its tongue lolling out. "Here you are! Inside this parcel are a few potions and pokeballs, just to get you started, plus your pokedex. You'll be able to use this bad boy to scan and obtain information on any pokemon you come across!" An, excited, explanation out of the way, Sonia gave Eveline a smile. "Best of luck out there! And... if you ever get yourself sponsored, then I suppose Yamper and I will see you on the telly," she added, Yamper offering a few yaps of encouragement.
