Takao knew the bar owners well enough that she let Takao make some sorry attempts for alcoholic beverages when the bar was slow. He had little idea as to what most of the liquor he touched tasted like, but he liked mixing them together and trying them anyways. One day, he would accidentally make something good enough they would put it on the menu and name it after him. Well, a man could dream, anyways...
A woman with short, white hair walked in, looking a certain type of tired. Takao was wiping a glass clean and looked around for the actual bartender, but she was in the back trying to stock something. He didn't want to explain that he wasn't a real bartender in case the woman was APD - as the owner would get in trouble for having him behind the bar without a license. Instead, he did his best impression of a bartender. "What can I get for ya?" He bared his teeth, trying to look friendly. At least, he thought the bartenders always tried to look friendly, but he supposed they were motivated by tips.
"It looks like you've had a long day, huh?"

Maeko's pale hands push the door open and she stepped inside. Her body was clad in a large cloak, the hood up for the moment, as it had been raining outside. Her hand moved to grip it and pull it down, exposing her snow white hair. Her eyes surveyed the scene around her. She could see a stage with a couple instruments, a few people lounging in booth's and at the bar. The seemed to be keeping to them self and nursing their booze. Those green eyes of her's kept scanning till they stopped on the 'Bartender.'
Maeko saw his lips moving, and was suddenly pulled out of her own head. Thoughts from before had zoned her out. "-'ve had a long day, huh?" is all that she processed, as she focused on Takao. "Uuuuh...yeah, you could say that." She didn't start to move toward the bar yet, but a few seconds later she had her cloak off. Mae's wearing a leather armored tunic, no sleeves with her arms are bare, some baggy pants with large pockets for storage and a side pouch on her hip. A heavy pair of boots covered her feet, which then began to move. She draped her cloak on a coat hanger by the door and took a seat at the bar. "Could I get a double shot of Whiskey, please?" Maeko asked, totally convinced he was a real bartender at this point. She looked over him, he had rather handsome facial features and striking eyes, the gal staring right into them and she even blushed for a moment. But it dissipated as fast as it grew. "That's a cool tattoo ya' have there." She pointed at his right hand. She was trying her best to be open, and talk to new people, instead of keeping to herself or to one or two people, so she hoped she didn't come off as awkward.

Can only be used up to the rank the user has access to. Cost one activation to block the strike, and another to launch the counter strike. The woman's almost slow reaction to his words didn't bother him at all, since he had seen people enter this bar in a variety of states. At least she wasn't being mopey. He loved hanging around to talk to the owner but he always had an excuse to leave if the bar was flooded with sad sops. He just didn't have time for that kind of bad energy, though he had a feeling there was something bringing her down and bringing her here.
"Double shot coming up," he said, bending down a bit to look for a bottle that met the description. He chuckled at her compliment, used to - and pleased by - the attention his tattoos got him. "Yeah, thanks. My parents got me a few tattoos when I was young. That was before I moved to Arashigakure, of course, 'cause apparently a lot of people think that's like, child abuse." He overshared on accident, trying to distract her as he looked for his prize. Having found it, he exclaimed a small noise of victory and took the glass he was cleaning to pour some in. He poured about four fingers worth before realizing that this might be very, very expensive whiskey and four fingers might very well be more than two shots. Hell if he knew.
"Uh, here ya go." He put the glass on the counter, sliding it towards her carefully. "You've got some cool scars yourself," he said, stupidly, not realizing most people weren't fond of them. He himself should know better, having been bullied for the discoloration that covered his arms as a kid before he was permitted tattoos to effectively cover them up to any peering eyes.

Maeko was a sad lady, but she was far from letting that come out. Sessions with Kagerou had helped her learn to compartmentalize and deal with her feelings and emotions. She had let go of a lot and was doing her best to make new friends and try and be positive. Though, sadness still clung to her, if only a little bit. The lady had a smile on her face, a genuine one at that, when he thanked her for the compliment. She was working on not hiding herself behind a blank face, so she decided to open up to this guy.
"That's really cool, ya' know? My family never allowed for such things, though I could have gotten some by now. I have been on my own since I was thirteen. Guess I never found anything I wanted to put on me?" She told him, having sorta bent over the bar, watching him scrounge for the bottle he needed. "They think it's child abuse? What??" That shocked her a bit, like yeah its a bit young but it isn't child abuse in her opinion. She quickly realized, after he found his quarry, he might be a bit of a rookie bartender. She watched him pour up her drink. "Thanks." Mae' responded, taking her 'Double.' She was going to sip but, eh screw it! Cocking her head back she downed the whole four fingers Takao gave her. ( อกยฐ อส อกยฐ)"Phew...that's s-some good s**t!" She exclaimed, eyes wide, her gaze catching his, as she really smiled. "Another, please? And thanks! All from fights." She gave him a smirk at that, "I'm Maeko, by the way." Her hand moved out, to offer it to him, wanting to shake.

Takao was used to people lamenting their own lack of tattoos after seeing his; he did look like a badass, after all. He watched her down all the whiskey at once, looking rather unbothered afterwards, though her voice had a rasp to it when she introduced herself.
He accepted her hand with just a moment's hesitation. She had callouses not unlike him, which revealed her to him as a shinobi. "Takao," he offered. "You get into a lot of fights?" He accepted the glass back again and began to pour more into it. The whiskey wasn't so rough it was a sipping whiskey, but it had enough bite that she was risking losing her voice if she kept taking it so fast. He gingerly put it on the counter, hoping she wasn't going to chug it again.
"I've never seen you around before, at the ninja academy. You are fighting for our side, right?" His voice was serious but his face broke into a smile, revealing that he was simply teasing her.

Definitely could feel that whiskey biting now. With a grip, she gave his hand a shake and pulled it back. One might say it was stained more than it was caloused, with that invisible spectrum of blood. "Yeah, I win most of them too." As he set the glass down Maeko yoinked it and gave a little sip, having learned her lesson. Her head cocked when he mentioned not ever seeing her before. "Jeez, I've been around the village for years now, honestly and yeah? Of course I am!" Her smile had previously softened, but when he smiled at his own joke she couldn't help but giggle. "Hey! Wanna see something???"

Takao watched her sip, pleased she was slowing her roll. "Well, I ain't been a shinobi myself for real long, either. I'm just a genin, and a fresh one at that." He shrugged it off, unusually humble. He averted his gaze, thinking about his low role in the village. "Of course, I'll be kage one day." He beamed a great big grin, grabbing a new cup to start washing as he spoke with Maeko.
He raised a brow at her offer. "Yeah, if you promise you won't break anythin'."

"Well we all have to start somewhere, mmmmh?" Maeko reached out, poking him right in the chest. "With that attitude, I believe ya!" She was really giggling now, a slight flush to her cheeks. She sat back, taking a long slow sip. Before putting her hand out and concentrating, her skin started to push up at a point, out from her palm. Before white pushed through, a blade starting to form from her hand. Once it got to the bottom of the hilt, she flicked her hand up, and snatched the bone blade out of the air. A moment later and she had it stuck into the wooden bartop, hand waving toward it. "It's yours if ya want." She was beaming now, she always enjoyed showing off her Kekkei Genkai, usually she'd get a good rouse out of someone.

Takao put the clean glass on the counter, waiting expectantly for her surprise. When bone started protruding out of her palm, his eyes widened in concern. What the hell was she doing? He couldn't stop her, however. He was too entranced. Once the bone popped out and she grabbed it, he cocked his head to the side as if believing it to be an illusion.
Then she stabbed it into the bar top. "Oh, no don't-" he turned his head to the right to hear a throat clearing. Ah, damn. The bar owner had her hands on her hips, looking at him like he'd grown a third head. "U-uh, I can explain, 'cause-" She scoffed, rolling her eyes and turning back around.
Oh yeah. He wasn't getting out of that conversation tonight. He sighed, then put his happy face back on for Maeko. "She remodeled not too long ago. Used to have a lot of kunai marks in her old countertop from drunk shinobi. She wasn't, uh, expecting any new blemishes so soon." He grabbed a new glass and started cleaning it. Guess he was working off his debt before he earned a liquor license. "Don't worry 'bout it," he said to stem off any of her apologies. "But, uh, you show everyone you can whip your bones out?"

When he's happy face met her gaze again, her smile came back, beaming at the silly guy. "I-I'm so-aaaaa..." Is all that came out, when he interrupted her own apology to him. Maeko blushed a bit, her left hand gripping her right forearm. "N-No! You just seem like you'd be interested is all. Usually I only break out my bones when I fight."
Dance of the Larch: Absolute Defense [ A ] This is a supplemental technique. The user first prepares themselves by channeling chakra throughout all of their bones. Then, when the user is struck with a tai or bukijutsu technique, the user is able to have a plate of bones first protect the area which was struck equal rank to the strike provided. Then, the user launches a counter attack, which converts the opponentโs strength stat which they used the technique into the speed of which the bone blades rise out of the user to impale the target. Can only be used up to the rank the user has access to. Cost one activation to block the strike, and another to launch the counter strike. If the user only has one activation left, then the block will occur, but not the counter attack. If the user has no activations left, then this ability does not work. This stance last for 6 post. Takao shrugged good-naturedly. "Well, I hope you aren't lookin' to start a fight any time soon." He glanced outside, frowned, and put the glass and rag down hurriedly. "I need to head out. An actual bartender will be around if you need anything else." His message was cryptic as he rushed to be on the customer-side of the bar just as the door opened and two officers walked in. Their gaze immediately, knowingly, turned to the bar, though they didn't catch Takao behind it (again) without a liquor license.
"Having a good time, Takao?"
"Uh, well, er, yeah! Just having a drink with my buddy, Maeko," he said somewhat unconvincingly. He broke into a signature grin, wrapping an arm around Maeko's neck like they were childhood friends as the other was posed on his hip. "Just catchin' up; y'know how it is," he said as he pulled himself away from the Kaguya.
"I'll catch you another time, huh?" He shot at her with finger guns and a clicking of his tongue before pushing past the officers to go, eager to not get caught by the officers or the owner, who might feel resentful enough about the countertop to rat on him.

Takao had her very intrigued. This is what Kagerou had been telling her to do, Maeko realized. This is what she should have been doing all this time. Going out, making friends and not relying on just one person. As much as she liked them. She found herself frowning when he frowned himself. Her head cocked over her shoulder, only to see the officers. "Yeah, wait, you don't have to go we can-" One of them opened their mouths, greeting her new friend and interrupting her.
