Ryker had purposefully not given specifics on what the extra credit training for her would be. He was in a strange mood where he wanted to keep it as a mystery for her, to surprise her later of what it was. All he did say was that they had to go to a different location for this to work out. So he would lead her to the outskirts, almost like a casual stroll in the park for the most part. All the while teasing that the location of this had to be just right for the lesson to fully be effective. He had a plan in mind, one that Azura probably would never guess could be her task. It was something he noticed as a weak point for her in his brief time interacting. He had no clue what her combat skill was but looking at her weapons he figured she had to be good at it. Though he honestly just assumed everyone was better at it than him given his reasons for joining the academy. So he was playing to his strengths and would hopefully help her out in that regard to. 'Plus it may be fun to try and teach her these things.' He thought to himself with a smile.
Ryker stopped in a small little clearing besides a flowing river. He had heard it was a nice date spot for people... who were prepared to fight Grimm at a moments notice and were fine with adding a little danger to their romance. Turning on his heel he would look confidently to Azura. "This shall be our training spot beautiful." He would say with a friendly smile, flirting fully back with no sign of going anywhere. He was not going to change who he was and stop his flirting, it was only casual anyway. His eyes would lock on hers as he continued. "So since I am not the best fighter our training is going to be something different. I noticed how you react to complements and crowds, so i'm going to help you with that. Our training will be two parts: a game of two truths and a lie... and teaching you how to flirt. Pretty useful skills outside of battle for the most part." He would finish, looking and sounding fully serious. While on the surface this seemed like a ridiculous form of training, there was actually some underlying reason to it. He was teaching her how to read other people and how to use her words as weapons. 'Why fight when you can just talk things through after all.' He silently thought to himself. At least with people it made things all the easier and was the best way to deal with things in his mind. Now to see what the raven haired beauty thought of it.

For what to work? Had she somehow missed what they were doing for extra credit? Azura followed Ryker without actually asking either of these questions out loud. As they headed out into the Outskirts she began to think he was looking for Grimm to practice on. It was a combat school after all. What better thing to share than differing strategies on how to deal with Grimm. There really wasn't anything else in the Outskirts, at least that came to Azura's mind. The idea that this was a nice date spot didn't even cross the poor girl's mind as she scanned the area for the creatures. Perhaps she should pull her scythe out? It did take a second to unfold. Ryker turned, and Azura stopped walking. Beautiful? Already she could feel her cheeks warming in embarrassment. Even after meeting Cecil he was going to keep flirting with her. Then he explained his plan for training. "You want to what?" She asked, her mouth falling open. It had to be a joke right? Some kind of prank, where everyone jumps out from behind the trees or Ryker points out a camera catching her reaction. But he seemed totally serious. "I...I can't flirt!" She could hardly hold done a conversation most of the time and he wanted her to flirt with people?

As Azura blushed at his complement, Ryker internally frowned in thought. Either he was very very good with flirting, or she was not great with taking it. 'Well one way or the other i'll find out while training her.' He thought to himself. Though he had to refrain from devolving to laughter by her reaction to his plan. If it were like a cartoon her mouth may have actually fallen off in the process. He had honestly never seen that expression on anyone before, the internet made it hard to shock people after all, and wondered if she was going to be ok. 'Maybe this is too much of a shock for her...' He briefly thought to himself. He had not thought Azura to be particularly shy, as he didn't associate shyness with a weakness to flirting. Though maybe he should at some point. She would then say she could not flirt as it seemed the shock was still in full effect for her. 'Can't flirt?' The concept was almost impossible in his eyes with how natural it was for him to do so at times. Everyone flirted in his mind; it just depended if they were conscious of it or subconscious. Despite his own surprise at the statement he recovered fairly quick with a friendly smile. He did say training was going to be in two parts... so now that he knew what seemed the most impossible for her in her mind he knew exactly what to start with first.
Ryker would close the admittedly short gap between the two till he was right in front of her, looking down a little due to the height difference. Though despite that, he was not the type to exude an intimidating presence. He was calm, relaxed and friendly by all appearances. "Everyone can flirt, even you. You have probably flirted in the past without even realizing it. We just got to work on you being able to believe you can." He would say with confidence to her, maintaining eye contact if she let him. He truly believed what he was saying after all. He would briefly shift his gaze to study her a little before it would go back to her eyes. "Think of flirting just as complementing someone. Like your lovely azure eyes that a person can get lost in with a simple look, how they can captivate any persons attention. The easiest flirt is just looking at someone and complimenting them about one of their features or even just their attire. Mostly because most people assume a compliment is a flirt. The only difference between the two is the tone you say it in, but we'll focus on that later." Ryker would say, trying to get the basics out first to get Azura started on this. From her reaction, he felt he was going to have to spend quite some time teaching her. He would take a few steps back to give her some space before continuing. "Try me for instance. Try to come up with a complement for me based on my looks. And, if you can, look me in the eyes when you do. Eye contact makes everything a lot more personal." Ryker would say in full seriousness and confidence. It was very basic flirting stuff he did subconsciously for the most part, but for beginners they may need to actively focus on that part first. He didn't want to rush her too much, though he may have already. 'Rush making the foundations, and the beach house collapses.' He thought to himself.

When Ryker first closed the distance between them, Azura looked at him wide-eyed, with panic. Personal space was sacred to the introvert and she didn't quite know how to deal with someone she hardly knew violating it so casually. She wanted to step back, but her feet remained rooted to the ground. Finally, she settled for lowering her eyes to the ground, which was awkward in itself given how close he was standing, cheeks burning as he started talking about her eyes. Wait compliments were flirts? Had she been accidentally flirting with people when she only meant to be polite? He said tone made the difference, but how was she supposed to know what tone to use? Mild panic set in as contemplated the idea that she might have accidentally flirted with someone. She wanted him to go back to the tone thing, but Ryker had already moved on and she was way too shy to speak up.
He wanted her to compliment him? And look him in the eyes? Azura took a deep breath, her eyes flickering up cautiously. "I...uh....your tail is very soft." Suddenly she brought both hands up to her mouth as her eyes went wide in horror. "That's not rude to say, is it? I know some Faunus don't like it when people call attention to their Faunus features. I'm sorry if I offended you, please forgive me." It all came out in a panicked rush, Ryker unable to get a word in until she had finished. Then she looked at him with wide eyes as if waiting for him to get upset with her.

Seeing the panic in her eyes and her lower them just because of him getting closer, Ryker had to wonder how shy Azura actually was. She wasn't the shyest girl he had met, or so he thought, but it still surprised him how shy people can be. Then again, he was a very very social person. To him it was very easy to talk to another person... unless they were very intimidating or proved very violent. Like his sister. He loved her, but when she got mad he was terrified of her. Azura however had not exuded an even remotely intimidating presence though to him so far. He didn't think she had it in her... but sometimes the craziest ones were the quiet ones. But, until she showed that part, he had no reason to think that of her. For now he just wanted to do her a favor and help her out, especially since she already had a boyfriend. He was not the type to split up relationships of other people when he knew of it. If he was the other guy in one, it was only ever because he didn't know. So, pushing those unnecessary thoughts from his mind, he would focus on teaching Azura.
He noticed her take deep breaths as her eyes flickered upwards. 'Is it really that hard to flirt?' He wondered silently. Once she started he hoped she would just let the flirt flow. Like how sometimes you had no clue what to say and hope that somehow the right words came out of your mouth. He was a bit surprised when her complement came to be about his tail, as he never expected to be complemented. It was not an unwelcome one though. It was unique... so extra points to Azura. However... Azura reacted in a way he was not expecting. Her hands were brought over her mouth, and her eyes had gone wide in horror. 'Is this a horror movie where something behind me is waiting to kill me?' He wondered to himself silently, debating on looking back or dying oblivious. He would much rather not know what hit him. But his fears would soon be alleviated. Though instead of feeling horror, he was now feeling a little sorry for the beautiful girl. Apparently, she had thought she had insulted him by complimenting his tail. While he knew there were many faunus who didn't like to be touched in those areas, he knew very little who did not like being complimented on those features. Unless of course they were actively trying to hide it, which he wasn't. While he wanted to tell her it was alright, she gave him no chance to until she finished.
He smiled to her and shook his head lightly, trying to calm and assure her. "You did not offend me at all Azura. Most faunus I know only take offense when you touch the feature without permission, but they love compliments to them. You did good, honest. Never been complimented for my tail before, so you are pretty original. But that was a good start." He would say encouragingly. He would pause for a little bit, to give her some time to recover, before continuing. "Now to apply tone to a compliment. Try to do a similar tone to mine. It has to... convey your desire for a person. Azura, you are the most beautiful girl I have ever seen. From your black hair to your azure eyes... From your cute personality to the music that is your voice. You truly are one of a kind." Ryker would begin instructing before turning to his flirtatious voice, putting as much sincerity in his tone as well. To most people, it would almost seem like he was truly confessing love to her to a degree. He was hoping this example, despite being a bit over dramatic, would give her a better idea for it. Because in essence, he was just complimenting her. But he was just changing the tone in it to make it more than just a compliment.

Azura relaxed a bit at Ryker's reassurance, though perhaps not as much as she would have, or as much as one might have hoped. She lowered her hands from her face at least and managed to close her mouth. Her face, however, was still crimson as ever and eye contact remained a problem. Mostly her eyes remained on the ground, flickering up every few seconds as if to check on how Ryker was reacting while trying not to look at him. Maybe he was just being polite, she thought to herself. Seeing as she hated being touched in general, especially by people she didn't know, Azura would never dream of simply grabbing someone's tail or ears. Adam on the other hand... well he had forced Azura to get a bit more used physical contact. In particular, being picked up and swung around. "I know a Faunus who seems rather... uncomfortable with her Faunusness. Though I suppose being called Hooters is hardly a compliment." Adam generally had good intentions. They just weren't always well executed. The way Danea looked at Yui though...
Azura blinked in surprise as Ryker started speaking again. Apply tone? It was hard enough just to utter those words without having to worry about tone! Then he went on to give an example and Azura thought she might die of embarrassment. If there had been anyone around to witness, she very well would have. Truly, if someone wanted to defeat her in combat all they would have to do is compliment her. Panic filled her eyes, though her feet remained rooted to the ground. Stun locked.

Ryker was glad Azura had relaxed a little, even if not a whole lot. It was progress at the very least. She had moved her hands from her face, but her face remained red as a tomato and she couldn't really meet his eyes. Even when she glanced up she didn't meet it. 'It is something she'll need to work on. Unless she goes for the shy girl look, then she will be fine.' Ryker thought to himself, unsure which direction to take in that category. She would respond about knowing a faunus who was uncomfortable with it, which Ryker was curious why, but before he could even ask she mentioned the nickname. 'She is either an owl or well endowed... and given its uncomfortable about being a faunus, i'm guessing a faunus.' Ryker silently thought to himself. He wondered if the name was called in spite or not in that regard, but he truly couldn't know. All he did know was that seemed way different than what he was saying. "Yea... if she is an owl I don't think they would like that nickname. But something along the lines of an actual compliment may have gone better." He would very briefly respond to that, as it seemed pretty self explanatory why that was a bad way to do it and not how he was trying to teach her. Plus he didn't want to focus on that technicality too much. Azura needed a lot of help honing her natural beauty and charm in general.
After he tried continuing the lesson and teaching her more by flirting... Ryker paused as he saw her reaction. She had panic in her eyes and seemed... stuck. 'Did I paralyze her by flirting?' He wondered in genuine surprise. He really had not been expecting that reaction from her, but maybe... just maybe he had gone a bit too fast for her. Rubbing the back of his head nervously for a moment, he would hesitantly speak. "Let's... take a break for now Azura. Just take a deep breath... and relax. We can continue this lesson later." His voice would reflect his uncertainty at first, before switching to calmer and more gentle. He didn't want to terrify the girl of flirting, so he figured a break was in order for her mind to process everything. And cope. Or whatever it needed, he really wasn't sure. Not sure if she was every going to relax or calm down, if his words had any effect, he would continue after a moment. "How about you train with me in something you know? You seem plenty smart and competent, so i'm sure I could learn a lot from you." Ryker would say, hoping he could pull her out of paralysis by taking the focus away from his flirtations. He really was clueless how to help here, as normally that would be a sign to press the flirtations... but since she was taken he wouldn't go that far. He did respect the relations of others as long as it was working, and wouldn't go out of his way to break them.

"Something I know?" She blinked a few times in surprise, but at least she seemed to have come unstuck. Though her face was still a brilliant shade of red. "Well, uhh..." She glanced around for inspiration. What was something she was good at? "I get pretty good grades if there is a class or an assignment you need help with?" She really hoped Ryker wasn't insulted by the suggestion. Or think that she thought she was smarter than him. Maybe she should explain that wasn't the case. She was about to do so when she heard a roar. "Grimm." She said softly, reaching behind for her weapon. Azura had an air of confidence around her for the first time since meeting Ryker, sure hands extending the red weapon into its sniper form. She scanned the woods in the general direction the sound had come from until she spotted movement. "A Beowolf..." It had something in its mouth. A headshot would be no good then. Too risky. Instead, she aimed for its chest and squeezed the trigger.

At least he hoped it was. It sure as hell was better than her being paralyzed, though she still had a bright shade of red to her face. While he had met more than a few shy girls, he still was unsure how to act. He could only make guesses. Though as she began to think about what he had suggested, she seemed uncertain as her eyes would glance about. He was sure she probably had a lot she could teach him, but he was content to let her take her time for it. Mostly because he didn't know how interjecting would affect her. 'I suppose I should just be happy I don't have to take her to the nurse or anything.' He silently thought to himself. She would then say she got pretty good grades, and offer to help him with a class or assignment he had. That was not something he had been thinking of when he asked her to teach him... though he probably should've expected it when he mentioned how smart she was. 'Do I really need the help in class?' He genuinely wondered to himself. While he was no A student, his main trouble with school was just his tendency to procrastinate. He could get very good grades if he tried... but school would take way too much of his time then. He was content with just barely coasting as a B student by putting in extra effort when necessary. His mind did not at all take the offer as an insult though. He was used to leeching off smart students at times, even if that wasn't something he would brag about.
He was still thinking on how to respond to her offer when he heard a roar and froze. While he had never personally encountered a grimm before, he had learned enough to take a guess what that sound was from. It sure as hell was not a simple wolf or other forest creature, and Azura's words only confirmed that suspicion. He felt his heart race for a moment, before taking a deep breath and relaxing. It did not sound near at all. Before he could comment though, he noticed Azura reaching for something on her back... before it turned into a sniper rifle! "Wow." He commented softly and in surprise, not expecting that to happen. Azura had a shift as well; where once she was very shy and embarrassed, she suddenly seemed very confident. It took a few seconds for him to realize what she was doing though. "It'll be some shot if you can hit it while in the forest, wherever it is." He commented, though almost seeming to address himself. She seemed to sight it because he heard her say beowolf, and soon after pulled the trigger as he heard the sniper go off. He had no clue whether it hit or not, and asked as much. "Did you get it?" He asked with genuine curiosity and interest. While he had good aim with thrown things, he never tried guns before. The fact Azura had so calmly gone through this with such speed honestly impressed him.

Azura watched the scene through her scope for a few more seconds. The Beowolf collapsed into dust, releasing the person it had gripped in her mouth. She let out a small sigh of relief and lowered her gun. She nodded her head, in apparent answer to Ryker's question about if she had hit it. It was unclear if she had heard his earlier comment about it being some shot if she made it, or perhaps she was just ignoring it. "We should go see if they are okay. The Beowolf had one of them in its mouth!" She explained while starting to jog in the direction of the other two. She didn't put Crimson Regret away just yet. There could be more. I hope it wasn't me who attracted the Beowolf here.
