Ćombąt ℞ules ┏━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━◎✥◎━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┓ General Ćombąt Welcome to the Ćombąt ℞ules section! Here we will cover the most important concepts and rules dealing with combat in this guild. If you have not yet read the Ļevёling ℞ules and Ţeam ℞ules then make sure to give that a quick read before continuing below. If you have any questions feel free to message any of the Crew or the Capt'n for help. Ultimately, we have a very simple system that won't take long to learn. Keep in mind that the crew always have a right to step in during combat and dictate new rules and conditions, rewind/backtrack posts, etc. If you ever suspect foul play during combat don't hesitate to contact crew to help.
Most of the combat in this guild is PvE (Player Versus Environment), which means you are fighting alongside others against the creatures of grimm or NPCs created by mods. If you are someone who loves combat, but doesn't enjoy fighting other players this is a great guild for you!
Now, let's hit the basics real quick. The power of your character is based on their post count. Every time you post in this guild your character gets more powerful! This follows the natural progression of characters as you roleplay. It only makes sense that characters develop with time and gain power. This system also encourages and rewards activity in the guild, and makes it such that there is no such thing as a wasted post! There are four levels, level 0 (0-99 posts), level 1 (100-199), level 2 (200-299), and level 3 (300+). The levels are capped at 300 posts such that nobody can infinitely gain power and always be stronger than you. You can always catch up the the most powerful people in the guild with time. As an additional reward for being active in the guild, characters unlock the advanced profile at 150 posts.
NPC/Grimm Ćombąt As mentioned above, most of the time you are fighting NPC's or grimm. The enemy will be assigned a post count or PC. This number can be represented several different ways as long as it is clear to all. The most common ways are:
Post Count: 75 (0.75) PC.75 (0.75) 75 (0.75) PC Where either 75 or 0.75 can represent 75 posts.
For example, a normal Ursa has a rating of [.75] can only be taken down if players fighting it, cumulatively, have a post count that is greater than 75. Grimm and villains win ties, so you must exceed that number by at least 1 to win.
In order to apply your character's post count to the fight you simply have to engage the opponent in combat. Direct attacks will always apply your post count to the fight, also, Indirect support abilities can apply your post count, but we leave this to moderator discretion within each scenario. We fully intend for most support abilities to apply their post count though as to not discount support types. Even healing an ally will count!
That said, you must be in the same topic to apply your post count. The moderator may choose to allow effects from outside to enter, but that is their decision.
In the above example, let's say that you and your best friend are fighting this Ursa in the outskirts. Your character has a post count of 30, and your friend's character has 60 posts. Together, your team post count is 90, which is higher than 75 and thus you will be able to defeat the Ursa. Roleplay the fight out and eventually the mod will allow one of your moves to kill the creature. If there is no mod, then you can kill it whenever you, or your team, has given a respectable fight, and feel it is appropriate to finish it.
Again, you do not need to directly attack it to apply your post count. If you are a support type character and you can buff your ally, that is enough to be considered "in combat."
Keep in mind that you only apply your post count once per enemy. It isn't your damage that you apply each time you hit. If your team does not have enough posts to defeat the enemy, then you will lose, and have to retreat in most cases.
That said, if you have a mod over your mission/combat experience, then they may allow you to utilize posts gained during the fight. A good example of this would be that you are fighting that Ursa by yourself and only have 70 posts at the start. Let's say that the fight last 10 posts of your own, such that you end the fight with 80 posts on your character. The mod may choose to cause you to lose the fight, as you started with less, or they may choose to allow you to defeat the grimm. This is up to the mod, and the mod doesn't need to let you know ahead of time. This means there is often uncertainty of victory when the post count is close which adds to the excitement. You can discuss this rule with your mod and request that they do it a certain way if you wish.
This uncertainty sits in stark contrast to player versus player (PvP) combat where you can only use your post count before the fight began, but more on that later.
*The mod also has a right to allow you to defeat a certain grimm based on your role playing abilities, but DO NOT EXPECT this, even if you have superb roleplaying abilities. That is the fastest way to get your character killed. Show the grimm, NPCs, and your mod some respect.
We encourage you to mod missions for your friends! The crew are not the only people allowed to mod. Everyday members have the right to be mods over missions upon request of others. Though, keep in mind that It has been decided that the use of Ultimate and Legendary grimm is reserved for Crew and Ambassadors only. For the level of grimm, please click here. We encourage you to try and follow the levels of the grimm as seen in the above link.
Ғighting Plάyers Fighting other people is often full of drama, but we have built a system that removes the vast majority of it. The default system for this guild is the Level Ćombąt system. The others are simply options, that if unanimously agreed upon, may be used or enforced by crew.
There are 3 ways to do a fight. However, in all ways, you must roleplay the fight out regardless of it being predetermined or not.
ℂombat Ғorum & Initiation
When someone attacks, or attempts to strike someone in such a way to cause damage to their person, this is considered the first post of any fight. The person being attacked, if they choose to accept the fight, can create a topic in the ℂombat Ғorum, or message the attacker and tell them to do so. Technically either side can create this topic, but in general the responsibility falls on the aggressor. This topic is designated for the combatants to discuss the details of the fight and agree to how it will play out. You may also roleplay the fight in this thread, however it is preferable that the fight is roleplayed in the thread it was initiated in.
When not in a modded mission or scenario the person being attacked has a right to retreat if they so desire. They do not need to accept any challenge to a fight. When choosing to retreat, they can evade their attacker and escape. If you are in a modded mission or scenario you may be forced to fight.
This topic in the combat forum is for the purpose of discussing the fight that is to be had and the fight system that will be used (if you wish to use something other than the default). The first thing the defender ought to post is their character's post count upon being attacked. They are not allowed to post dump (add a bunch of posts to that character). They must keep the post count that they had listed on their post layout/apparatus when they were attacked.
The first thing you will post in this topic is your post count. The person to throw the first punch needs to list the post count upon punching the other person. So if John punches Randy, and John's last post count was 99, his next post where he punches is 100. This is the post count John will put in the combat forum. Randy's post count will be his last post before getting punched, not including his response post.
You are not allowed to dump posts on a character right before/during an attack. In other words, John may had have posts saved up that he has not yet allocated to his character. He cannot allocate these posts before challenging the other person to jump from 99 to 150.
In general, you should not allocate posts in the middle of a role play within the same topic. Post allocation should happen between topics, or during a scene change. That said, if a fight is planned or expected this is still not allowed unless otherwise agreed upon. It is expected that you will only utilize naturally gained posts within that topic for the duration of your time in that topic, or until a scene change occurs. Allocating posts right before a fight is called post dumping and is a serious offense. Ask a crew member if you are concerned about whether it is okay to allocate posts.
See rule 3 about Tímmíng & Plαnnєd Fíghts in the Ḉhαrαctєr Đєαth (& Pσst Rєαllσcαtíσn) ℞ules.
The ℂombat Ғorum is also where you can discuss changing the rules of the fight. All persons involved in the fight must agree to all terms. Otherwise the combat will default to the Level Ćombąt system. We want to allow you to be flexible in your PvP combat scenarios, but we also want to make sure its fair to prevent as much drama as possible.
Your post count will not change from what is listed in the combat forum even as the fight continues and you gain more posts on your character. Feel free to keep counting those posts on your character's post layout/format, but keep in ind, your power level is equal to what is in the combat forum until the fight is officially ended. Each new fight requires a new thread in the combat forum, even if back to back fights.
Reinforcements
If a fight starts, all reinforcements must post before the aggressors 5th post as been made. This rule will be judged based on proper post order even though there is no required post order in this guild. Reinforcements prevent a duel from happening. As soon as a single person has entered the combat to make it 3 or more people everything will strictly default to the level system. You can choose to change how many posts reinforcements have to make it there. The default is 5, but it can be extended or lowered. Reinforcements must reasonably be able to know, or be made aware of a fight that is happening and be able to make it there on time. If you are not in the immediate topic when a fight begins you must ask crew or moderator permission before joining in.
System Summary
(1.) - Level Ćombąt. This is based on post count. If you have 26 or more posts than the other, you will be predetermined to win. If you are within 25 posts, then it is a tie even if one of you is technically a level higher. This is based on the post count at the beginning of the fight/encounter. For example, if you were at 100 posts, and your opponent was at 34, and you got into a fight, then the person with the most posts would win. I repeat, you must still role play this fight out. If you are caught "pulling punches" or refusing to put up a respectable fight then the crew may jump in and just cause you to lose the fight. As long as you role play to the best of your ability you will be fine. There are only a few exceptions like the above: Mods may force the duel system if it's a modded scenario for 1v1 combats.
If you are within 25 posts of each other, you are in the stalemate/tie zone, you can either both agree to choose one of the other systems to use, or just end your fight in a stalemate/tie. This is an acceptable and realistic result to many combat sessions. At level 3 and beyond all 1v1 fights fall under this category, but team fights will still be based on cumulative levels.
(2.) - Negotiation. The next way to run a battle is to talk to the person(s) out of character to see which side will win. You may create any rules you desire for these sorts of negotiated combat sessions. You can even create your own combat system to dictate the victor. If you start a fight with no combat forum then the crew will simply default to the level system to select the winners and force the fight to an end. You may be forced to role-play this out, or a time-skip might be put in place, and the winner announced at crew discretion. Anything agreed upon must be clearly outlined and defined in the combat forum topic for the fight before the fight begins. Both sides must confirm their agreement to the terms of the fight before proceeding.
(3.) - Duelist System. The Final way to battle is to have a good ol' role play fight. This system is strictly for 1v1. You will both do your best to to defeat the other. When your done role playing, the members of the guild will vote on who won the battle. It will take them 2 weeks to vote on it. You must agree on a max number of posts per person for these fights. You can choose to have no limit on the fight. 10-20 is pretty common per person though. At anytime the crew may jump in and state a limit on the fight. For example if a fight has already gone on for a long time, the crew may make a post stating "You have X number so posts each before the fight officially ends and voting begins." This is to make things end in a timely fashion. The crew may also end the fight abruptly if there is drama involved. We won't do this in general, but we may if there is good cause.
Taking A Break
On occasion people will abandon a combat session. If this is in a large team fight situation, for example, a 4v4, we will allow 1 person to leave either side. The teams will be allowed to keep their original total post counts (yes, even that of the person who is missing in action MIA). If you have 2 people go MIA then your team, after 1 month will be declared defeated. If you can get unanimous agreement from all combatants you can extend this indefinitely. The same applies for duels. No players in combat will be locked to this combat thread if someone has gone MIA.
If you have a vacation planned make sure to tie up the all the loose ends such as combat before you leave. If you have surgery or some medical incident you still need to let us know within a month.
Ties
If you are within 25 posts of your opponent, regardless of a level difference, your fight will result in a tie. If you have 26 posts or more than your opponent you will win with the traditional combat level system.
Final notes: If you want a fight to be a closed duel, then you must state so in the combat forum. Otherwise, it will be assumed that the situation is like real life and others can join in (level combat system). A mod may force something to be closed if they feel it appropriate, but don't count on it when starting a fight.
