Kaimi was in town, chatting with a couple of traders, working on trying to make a deal for one of the crystals that he carried with him. He wanted to get some more supplies which meant doing some trading, something that was tough since he always hated to part with the crystals that he'd gathered. Taking one of them out of his stash meant one less that would be going toward his future goals. One needed to eat though. Not as though he could keep going without getting food, clothing, and supplies for himself. Sacrifices had to be made so he could make the future bright! Giving a happy sound as the trade he was working on went well, with him getting everything that he'd ask for and then some. It seemed the crystal that he was offering was one that the merchant really wanted, talking about how it was the exact same color as his daughter's eyes. It seemed that he was more then eager to trade whatever he was asking if it meant getting the crystal for the daughter. Something that allowed Kaimi to cash in. "I thank you. Let's do business again." Kaimi said, giving a nod of his head, before he turned to head onward. He'd see about getting something to eat to celebrate a deal gone well. Breakfast first and then he'd see about getting back to his digging!

Kaleo darted around the market stalls. Their usual round of playing with the siblings. The child swam under one stall only to nearly knock into Kaimi's knees. "Sorry!!" they stopped swimming to bow in apology. They giggled as a few siblings darted past, not really paying attention. The child looked back to Kaimi. "Hello! I'm Kaleo!"

Kaimi gave a squeak of surprise as he was dragged out of his thoughts by a flash of color that nearly collided with him. Blinking a couple times he looked down at the younger Menehune that was there before him before giving a smile, "I apologize too, I wasn't really paying near enough attention. Too deep in my thoughts." No reason that the younger kind should take all of the blame when Kaimi knew that he was a part of it as well. "Kaleo? It's nice to meet you, my name is Kaimi." What a cute kid he found himself thinking, finding him to be quite polite, "You're not hurt or anything?" They didn't actually run into each other so he should be alright, right? Probably more startled then anything. Which was good as he didn't want to cause any harm to anyone just because his mind had been wandering toward his morning meal.

Kaleo giggled. "No, I'm fine...are you okay?" he looked the elder over for a moment. "You look okay. Whew. My parents would of been disappointed in me if I hurt someone..." He tilted his head at the elder. "What are you doing?"

"You have nothing to worry about then. I'm a big, strong guy, and getting almost bumped into isn't enough to take me out." He said it in a reassuring manner, glad that the boy was alright and that neither of them were hurt. It meant that they could both go on their way and enjoy the rest of their day. Something he was considering doing until he was asked what it was that he was doing. After a moment of thought he said, "Trading. I am in need of a few things and had a bit of free time before I go to work. What about you, little Kaleo? What are you up to?" Something fun he hoped. Unless he was the working sort like Kaimi was.

Kaleo smiled brightly. "I'm exploring!!! Though..." he leaned forward to whisper to the elder. "I'm on a secret mission from my elder brother. We're trying to surprise our Dad with a present for all the work he's done lately." He looked around as if there was someone there listening in. "I have to find something Dad will like..." he sighed. "But, Dad is a hunter and I'm not so good with the hunter things..."

"Exploring is always fun." Though most of the time when he was doing it he was doing so because he had something important to do. It would appear though as the boy was kind of doing the same though, wasn't he? Off seeking a gift for his father. It was something that made him smile, "That's awfully sweet of you, going out of your way to get your father a gift." As the other mentioned his father being a hunter he gave a humming sound, "I can't say I really know much about hunters myself, I don't have much experience with them." So the boy was from a hunting family? Or was just his father the hunter? It was something that made him quite curious though he decided to not to ask feeling the other would share if he wanted to. He didn't want to push him one way or the other. "The only thing I could help you with finding is crystals... I apologize for that. If you're wanting to explore the marketplace though there are a lot of things to be found."

The child nodded. He was liking this talk. Adults were always more fun to talk to than other children. He smiled up to Kaimi. "Mhm...oh crystals? That's pretty cool!!! I like to sing!!" He was rather proud about that. He enjoyed singing with his Mom and elder sisters. "Do you like to sing?"

Kaimi blinked a couple of times before he started to laugh a bit, "Is that so?" That was rather cute, wasn't it? The way that he just suddenly announced out of no where that he was a good singer. Was he trying to get praise or was he just being cute? It was kind of hard to say since he didn't know a ton about kids. He would chalk it up to him just being cute he thought to himself before he said, "Is that something that you might think he'd like? To hear a song from you?" Giving a little shake of his head he said, "I can't say that I don't like to sing as much as it's not something that I do much or am good at. I sometimes hum as I work but that is as far as it goes."

The child tilted his head as he watched the elder. "He...may. I don't know. I've never sang for him before...think that would be a good idea?" Would it? He never heard his sisters sing for his Father. His Mother, sure. His Mother sang for everyone in the family. He floated backwards for a moment. "Its good to practice..." he said with a smile. "Did you need any help?"

"Maybe? I can't say that I know a lot about siblings that aren't... well, aggravating." He felt that he should put it lightly since he was speaking with a child that he didn't want to worry. Not when the kid seemed to be quite friendly and was just looking for a bit of direction. Best that he help out where he could even if it was outside of his comfort zone when it came to the topics on hand. Giving a smile he said, "If you think that he is the sort that enjoys music then you should try, it sounds nice to me at least." "Help? It's always welcome but I have a bit of a difficult job so I wouldn't want you to get your hands all scraped up trying to help me out." He gave a thoughtful sound then said, "Or do you mean help in finding food?" It was what he was doing before work after all.

Kaleo hummed as he tilted his head. "I know!" he reached out to tug on the elder's arm. "There's a hidden grotto that I hide in sometimes. There's some really sweet kelp there!!!" He started to guide the elder towards the area. "Its not too far off!!"

"Hide in?" Kaimi asked, a somewhat concerned look appearing on his face, "Are you alright?" he asked, worried that maybe the younger Menehune had a reason to hide out in a hidden area somewhere. He hoped that nobody was bullying him or anything because that just wasn't something that he wanted to see happen. He'd even be willing to take some time out to chase off anyone being mean to him in fact... though he supposed he should leave that to the boy's family. Giving a little nod of his head he moved to followed the younger boy, feeling that he could go and check out the grotto. If nothing else he could take a look at the sweet plants he'd mentioned and check around to see if the area had any gems hidden away there. It was a win win sort of situation.

It was a short swim off a well traveled path that led Kaimi to a grotto. It was bright, the light that filtered from above was cast around by clear rocks that scattered around the walls. Kaleo darted around the light, giggling. Once he stopped the child looked to his elder. "See!!!" He darted towards a small bed of kelp. "This is the sweet kelp I was talking about." the grotto held small things. Mostly odd shaped rocks, a trinket here and there.

Kaimi glanced around for a time, taking in the area that he'd been lead to, before a smile appeared on his lips. It really was an interesting place, like none other that he'd seen in the swampy lands that he'd been exploring for some time now. It was likely a combination of the way it was naturally formed and the light that came shining down on the place that made it so special. He could see why Kaleo was so excited to show the place off. "It's quite lovely." He said, swimming forward, taking in everything around him, from the kelp that his new friend was pointing out as well as just the natural wonders of the strange grotto. He could feel it too, the little hum in his barbels that told him a crystal was nearby. Something he'd consider hunting for later, not wanting to muck up the waters on Kaleo.
