Get over here, nerds. I have scones. xxxx **th Street
Acubens closed her compact after sending out her usual, rather ambiguous, and slightly threatening message to her cohorts. It was her Avengers Assemble, she supposed. She slipped the compact back into her little pocket of subspace and drew out instead the Tupperware of raspberry white chocolate scones that she had made earlier that day. She hadn't seem many of her crew in a while, and she was anxious to have this time together. Hell, some of them hadn't even met, which was tragic. Especially for the younger ones. And what better way to bond than a totally routine, not at all strange, nothing unexpected was going to happen quota walk? And maybe if Acubens kept calling it that, it actually would be totally routine, not at all strange, and nothing unexpected would happen.
Except for that she looked up from her compact, turned around, and deflated. Off in the distance was something Acubens hadn't seen before... for some reason. A tall, pale obelisk jutting painfully towards the sky. Of course, it was. But why hadn't she noticed it before? Carefully, Acubens powered down, her fuku melting away to street clothes and searched for the monument with those eyes. Nothing. She could see a whole big fat load of nothing.
Of. ********. Course.
Acubens powered back up and heaved the heaviest sigh she'd heaved in a long while. She had just called all of her kids. They were going to want to go see the monument. Hell, she wanted to go see the monument, but she wasn't about to lead them somewhere potentially dangerous. Except that she might of have a choice. And they couldn't' just ignore it either, what if it was meant to harm. Acubens wasn't cloistering a herd of cowards, she was leading a band of warriors in their own rights.
She cursed out loud and spun in a small circle before finally forcing herself to calm and formulate a plan. They would want to investigate. Fine. But they do so intelligently. Quietly. They don't wake anything up. They don't piss anything off. They don't touch anything... well... they don't touch anything too much...
Of course... maybe they'd want to stay away.
God Acubens hoped that they wanted to stay away.
I'm not worried about a posting order unless you guys are heart

The thing about the mirror compacts was that you actually had to be powered up to get the message, and it didn't somehow like let you know while powered down that you had a message. It was due to sheer luck, at least he figured it as such, that he was powered up when the message came in from Acubens. An address and orders to meet there, and the offer of food. He didn't know what she wanted, or why, but he knew he would go the moment he heard her call.
The odd thing however was that the location put him close, really close, to an area of town where something strange had turned up a few nights back. Shops and people had left the area, for some unknown reason, and other odd reports came from that area. He hadn't wanted to venture to that part of the city, at least not alone, for obvious reasons. But Acubens was calling, and he was sure others would come, so he wouldn't be alone. She wouldn't let anything happen to him....right?
Heading off in that direction the super senshi of gorgon's hoped nothing would get in his way, he didn't want Acubens to worry about him if he didn't turn up. His slippered feet moved over roof tops with a fair amount of ease, due habit, and when he finally did arrive he was already summoning a plushie into his arms to hold rather than fiddle with his uniform. A mochi plushie was held to his chest as he approached the eternal. "That's new...I saw it earlier..." And he hadn't dared come to this part of the city on his own. "Is that why you called?" Pressing his chin to the top of the plush he held.

The message was... unprofessional, but Acubens was an unusual superior in more ways than one. The Dark Mirror Court as a whole was unusual and Logos had long given up trying to assign any parallels between it and the military she was used to. No, in fact, the Dark Mirrors were more of a guerrilla force, with its own unique set of rules. Something she would have to adapt to. Logos did so enjoy a challenge, and learning to operate under a completely alien set of rules was just such an enjoyable challenge.
That being the case, Logos was on the scene very shortly after receiving the message from Acubens. The others there... some she recognized from their shared time at the castle. Others, she did not. Acubens ran an interesting crew, or so it seemed. Clicking her heels, she saluted the Eternal just as she always did. "Reporting for duty."
The looming tower in the distance was obviously not there earlier... Wouldn't the newspaper report on a new structure of that size being built? And Daniyah didn't remember seeing it earlier during her time as a student, either. "Do you know what this is, Acubens? Is it something of ours?" If it was, someone should have made an announcement about it. |

It hadn't just been Acubens' team which had heard her call, since calls didn't have like a group chat option, and when Melpomene had heard the call he'd decided to go. It wasn't because he wanted to meet other dark mirror senshi, he could care less about that, he wasn't a social person typically, rather he figured it was about that towering monstrosity which had decided to take up some space in the city.Given the address which had been given for the meeting he figured that was the reason, maybe they were somehow behind this? If they were it wouldn't be a surprise that he was clueless about it. He hadn't exactly been a social butterfly, as he rather kept close to a certain General and that was about it.
But deciding it was time to find out about the object, and if he found anything he could then tell Aloysius , because a lot had happened in that part of the city and yet it wasn't making the news. It wasn't even visible when he wasn't powered up, he didn't like that.
Turning up the senshi of bleeding hearts, who looked rather like something of a teenage male queen of hearts, took the time to glance over the few who had already turned up. "There was a call. I'm assuming it's about that towering object?" He offered up, not giving his name or anything about himself away, he wasn't the sort to go offering up information so quickly.

Crocus had not being getting out and powering up as much as he really should have been lately. The semester was going to be wrapping up before too long and that meant projects were due. Most of his times these days were spent curled up on the couch with his laptop, heading to bed way too late, and lots of coffee. Acubens was lucky that night though, the guilt of not performing his duties to the Dark Mirror Court finally weighed on him enough that he went out.
Shortly after collecting a bit of energy with his mirror wraith he heard the message come across his compact. It had been a while since he had met up with Acubens and she was his first mentor in this strange new world. A world he was quickly adapting to. Plus, she hadn't seen him since his upgrade, it would be nice to surprise her with it.
As he started to head in that direction though, he finally noticed the odd obelisk towering in the sky. That definitely had not always been there. How long had it been though? He hadn't powered up in a while, call him out of the loop. As he came onto the scene where Acubens had called them, people were already talking about it. Like they had known about it all along. Oops, oh well. The important thing was that he was here now, right?
"Is it too much to ask for a normal night out?" Of course, he knew now that it had their attention, they needed to check it out. It was probably something dangerous. Was another faction responsible for it? It could be theirs' as well, Mirrorspace was unpredictable and with their recent expansion, who knew the effects it could have on their world.

It had been a long day for Mithra, well as long as it could be. It seemed like spring was never going to arrive and when it finally did for a day, somehow or other she had been completely booked with lessons until later in the day. That wouldn't have been so bad, except when she got off, it was usually prime time where she worked that the a**holes would come out, and she was usually catcalled.
And of course that lead to a beating and energy draining on the a**hole of the day, and she noticed her compact wringing as she impatiently waited for her wraith to drain the AH's energy. She flipped it open, saw the message, and she raised an eyebrow. Scones? It depended on what type they were, but she wasn't about to miss a meeting with Acubens and possibly some other Dark Mirror allies, and so as soon as she was done draining, she had set off to meet at the right spot.
Unfortunately it seemed that they weren't quite there and instead everyone had gathered around some Space Odyssey monolith or whatever, which wasn't so interesting to Mithra. She was way more interested in the scones. If some stupid thing had popped up, it was probably some chaos thing and after the Circus event she just knew there would be trouble if they went anywhere near it.
She sighed, and caught up with the rest of them, calling out to Acubens when she finally got close enough to them. "Acubens! What type of scones are they?" She said, completely ignoring the probably-a-Nega-idea that was right near them.

As others arrived Kiuchi did his usual thing, drifted towards others. It was Crocus, whom he lived with, that he drifted towards and reached out to grasp at the others uniform. Holding tight he pressed to the blonds side. One arm still holding onto the plushie, not wanting to lose it. He'd already lost one, more like he'd given it away to a white moon senshi.
"I don't like that...but it's why the news mentioned all the businesses in this area closing and moving...and people." He whispered as if speaking aloud might upset something, and maybe it actually would. There really was no telling what could happen when magic was involved, something which he didn't much like. "Avior won't be happy if we come home hurt...." He whispered, as a way of telling the other to be safe. He knew he'd try and be safe himself, at least as much as he could. He already had worried Crocus and Avior enough when he'd had a thick, and heavy, tree branch and a senshi land on him. Not to mention said senshi try and strangle him twice, he'd woken up last night from a nightmare about that.
"Mithra." Calling out, raising his voice, when he spotted the female arriving. She was asking about the scones...but why? While they sounded good, he'd never had a scone, there was a bigger and more important thing here to deal with. Shaking his head he focused his words on Crocus again. "Ice cream and a movie when this is over? Especially if either of us get hurt...we can offer up a movie night and sleepover in the living room to Nischal." In order to sort of make up for any injuries they may garner from this. It never hurt to try and kiss up a bit, right? It also didn't hurt that he'd done some special shopping last night for ice cream and other treats for everyone to have. It had been a habit of his, since moving in with the couple, to randomly purchase things for everyone in the house or to make dinner for them all, or just for the two and leave it with a note. He was trying to, in some sense, earn his keep....or try and fit in.

Like Melpomene, Kissling was not familiar with the majority of the senshi that had shown up at Acubens' request. He doubted the message had been sent with him in mind at all, though he knew the sender. Not that he minded in the least, since he knew how busy the eternal was and how many other Dark Mirror Scouts she looked after. The mention of scones, though, was something he couldn't ignore.
When he showed up, the mysterious obelisk that punctuated the horizon startled him, as he thought he knew the city well enough, having traveled all over it, and yet was not familiar with that structure at all. It wasn't enough to worry him, however, for it didn't seem to be doing any harm. Besides, there were others more powerful than he to take care of it if necessary, so weak as he was, he wasn't concerned.
Instead, the dirty blonde sauntered over to a brunette about his height wearing bright, lovely colors, spiraling designs, and gold accents. Perhaps he had seen her at Altea's castle and perhaps not; he couldn't remember enough to recall. Had she just said, 'reporting for duty'? It hadn't seemed to be a playful statement, either. For such a whimsically-attired lady, she sure seemed serious.
"Hi, there!" he greeted, holding up a hand with a sweet smile. "Are you here for the scones, too?" Of course, she didn't seem the least bit interested in scones with the monument looming over them all, but Kissling thought the other senshi needed to lighten up and pretended not to notice.

Yep, well... yep. All of that sounded about right. Kiuchi had approached the subject with caution, gravitating towards a trusted friend for reassurance. Logos was ever the soldier and reported exactly on time. Crocus was... well he was Crocus. Not necessarily dismissive but... Crocus. Mithra (thank god) was more focused on the scones, which Acubens held out to her readily. Ptolemy slid in on his usual trail of charm and irreverence. Speaking of irreverence Kissling also made his appearance. Flirting with Logos... yep that would go well. The only one that Acubens did not recognize was a senshi in red who currently occupied all of her attention. She'd not met him before... she was glad he had come though... and the arrival of an unexpected face made the absence of a familiar one that much more obvious. Where was Sinope?
But no matter who had shown up, they mostly seemed to want to check at the monument. Well of course. And some even expected that Acubens had a plan which was... laughable. She just wanted a walk and some conversation. Not a crisis. But this was Destiny City and was she really surprised? No. No she was not.
May as well start on introductions.
"Not all of you know each other," Acubens began, stepping into her role of leader as best she could with shaking legs and unsteady feet. "But all of you know me. Before we get started on what was supposed to be an easy evening of energy gathering," she shot an angry glance at the monument behind her, "take a second to get to know one another. I've taken you all in in one capacity or another, and I want you all to get familiar with each other. We're a family, after all. All of us in the Court. I have raspberry -- well okay, Mithra has them, but they are raspberry white chocolate scones to snack on before we get started." On what? Yeah, Acubens didn't have a plan. She should probably get one going though since it looked like this was going to be their evening.
"It doesn't look like we're in a hurry, since the monument doesn't seem to be going anywhere so... take your time getting ready to approach. I wasn't planning on doing this since I only just noticed it but... we're going to do this right. Quietly. Keep your guns holstered and your ears open. Gather back when you're ready -- we won't go until everyone is in a good place..."
And now to answer questions. She already answered Mithra's -- a woman after her own heart honestly. She turned to Kiuchi and smiled, ruffling his hair affectionately before answering his question. "God, no. After Altea, if I knew this thing was back there I would have had us gather as far away as possible but... we're here now... and even if I don't know ******** all about it," she turned to Logos with her answer, accompanied with a shrug and a small smile, "I guess we have to check it out, don't we? And you -- " she pointed to Crocus who looked and felt so much different now "You already know the answer to that question. Thanks for letting me know you powered up, by the by. We'll celebrate later, okay?" She tossed him a wink and finally took Ptolemy by the hand he slung around her shoulder.
"I've been... busy. Things have been in the works for Miss Rhona Lee. It's been... god it's been a lot. I'll fill you in later but for right now you can tell me where Sinope is while our vistor," she turned fully to the red senshi with a smile, "introduces himself." That should have been eveyrone, right? She thought so. God this was hard, how did Remarque do it?

Crocus was almost embarrassingly out of the loop. He usually kept up with the news and happening in town, it was part of his actual job after all. Though, he tended to keep up with the more positive outings, and with school as busy as it was, he had less time to work on his articles. At least Kiuchi was there to fill him in, he ruffled the other's hair a bit when he came over. He sighed a bit when he brought up Avior. He had honestly thought this was going to be a simple little gathering, he didn't plan on it turning into a more, potentially, dangerous mission.
"We've got some good numbers here. We should be okay." Although, he had thought that many times in the past and while he was still alive, things had definitely been dangerous. He wasn't all that worried though, hopefully they would stick to ust scouting things out rather than getting sucked into something.
"That sounds like a good plan. He can't be mad if we distract him with treats. He gave his roommate a smile and a nod. He knew all too well how much Avior would worry though, so he planned on doing his best to not come home with a busted knee this time. He was more concerned for Kiuchi, though he was just as strong, he had been injured recently.
When Acubens called him out though he held up his hands and gave a little chuckle. "I thought it would be a fun surprise! A celebration sounds nice though." Any excuse for a little bit of fun was good in his book. It had been a while since he had really celebrated anything. Even his birthday that year had been a little more mellow than he was used to. Maybe it was a good thing that he was slowly abandoning his more...wild party habits.

Moving to fix his hair, as Acubens ruffling had messed it up, he shook his head a bright smile in place. "I didn't think you'd surprise us with such potential danger." Not that he liked the idea of danger though, the idea had him pressing his face into his plushie for a moment. Hopefully this would't turn out bad, he really was hoping for what he figured was a miracle. This city wasn't all that friendly really.
Leaning into Crocus the senshi of gorgon's nodded his head. "We do...but level wise." Level wise they might be lacking, they had no way of knowing. In this city he didn't like taking anything for granted, it was unsafe. "And no, he can't. He likes treats..." So they could always bribe, and distract, Niscahl if they had to. "Mmm, it is a nice surprise. I didn't know you hadn't told Acubens about going super." He had known because he lived with Jason, so how could he not know that the other was a super?
"Mmm, be back." Maybe. He had seen a certain taller senshi and he hadn't seen them in a bit. Drifting off he made his approach on slippered feet. Stepping up to Ptolemy's side he leaned in close and snuggled into the others shoulder. "If we survive this, after me and Crocus bribe Avior with treats, I can treat you to Chinese food? My cooking." He offered.
"I mean if we survive this and I don't get hurt and have Avior keeping me on bed rest...again." Puffing up his cheeks as he pouted over this fact. It wasn't until Acubens asked about introductions that he took the time to really look around. He knew almost everyone here...the one in red and gold was really strange. He hadn't seen them in space either...so new, potentially very new. "You can even come shopping with me." He added in a whisper, as it seemed the new person was about to talk.

It seemed like most of these people knew each other, and he was the odd one out. Normally that wasn't a bad thing, he could go virtually unnoticed, but here it wasn't a good thing - he was noticed. He was really noticed and even called out, damn.
He was the visitor, though he supposed it seemed rather fitting, this didn't feel like where he belonged especially right at this moment as he seemed to have center stage. "Sailor Melpomene, bleeding hearts." Which, as most would figure, explained his uniform. He actually sort of liked it, though he wouldn't mind if it covered his arms a bit more perhaps. At least he didn't have heels or a skirt to deal with.
"I just heard the call and figured it was in this area." And he wasn't stupid enough to come here on his own, and a certain General wasn't around right now. Maybe he'd come back a second time, if all went well this time, with said General. It was an idea.
"I think I saw you." Motioning to Acubens. "During that carnival."

The tattooed young man followed the curly-haired woman's gaze to the monument behind them, attempting to assess what might have been the reason behind the contempt in the look she gave it. Was she simply irritated that it was an inexplicable mystery? He supposed he couldn't have blamed her when most of the mysteries around Destiny City ended up involving a sinister secret or two. With all of them here, though, it seemed like it would be an easier issue to deal with if things did turn sour.
"Mmm...white chocolate and raspberry, you say?" How fortunate they weren't regular chocolate. Perhaps he'd have to try one. "Did you make them? Sounds delicious."
Haha...guns. The super senshi may not have been able to guarantee offensive support, but at least it was likely some of the others did and he could obey the part about keeping his ears open, staying quiet, and being cautious.
Acubens response to his question was returned with a fond, warm smile. "When are you not?" he teased before the corners of his mouth clamped down on something more serious. "I'm sorry you've been going through so much. If you ever need me for anything, though, you know you can call me, right? Even powered down.
"Sinope?" Ptolemaeus blinked, surprised by the question. He, too, had been focused on the unfamiliar Dark Mirror Senshi in red and gold. It took him a moment to realize who the eternal was referring to. "Oh...I actually haven't heard from him since last year," he admitted, rubbing the back of his neck.
"His parents called me once around the end of it to ask me if I might have known where he was, 'cause I guess he was missing and they thought he'd run away from home, but I didn't know if he was just busy with senshi stuff." Looking away awkwardly, he continued, "There was recently when I heard his house had been broken into and his parents found dead. But I haven't been able to contact him. Not through phones or compacts." He shrugged. "I assumed maybe he just didn't want to talk to anyone."
Perhaps he should have tried harder to find out what had happened to the young Dark Mirror Senshi, but Sinope had never really seemed like the sort to want to open up to or talk to others all that much. At least not from what Ptolemy had known of him. It seemed best to leave him alone, especially if he was ignoring all attempts to get in touch with him. He removed his arms from Acubens so he could place a light hand on her shoulder. "Maybe he just hasn't powered up lately so he didn't get your message."
Upon noticing Kiuchi come to greet him, Ptolemy beamed at full capacity once more, his grin almost seeming to broad for his face as he extended his arms to embrace him. "Hey, cupcake. Sounds like a plan to me. But do you have to say 'if we survive'? You make it sound like you expect us to die or something. And I can't die without trying your cooking, can I?"
The talk of Avior keeping him on bed rest got the older senshi curious. "Bed rest? What'd I miss?" His smile had faded again. Clearly he hadn't been as attentive to his court's ongoings as he would have liked. His civilian life had kept him far too busy. Not knowing what had been happening with Acubens, Sinope, or Kiuchi...what a terrible teammate. Well, he supposed the least he could do was aquaint himself with what seemed to be one of their more recent members if the others were just as unfamiliar with him as Ptolemy was.
"Pleasure to meet you, Melpomene," the super said with a nod. "Sailor Ptolemaeus of Change. I'm curious, though...what do you mean by 'bleeding hearts'?"

At the mention of a certain senshi, Acubens, ears nearly perked. She slid her gaze over to Kiuchi and Crocus, discussing said senshi and plans to keep him happy. Were they all... living together? Last Acubens knew Kiuchi was living with his boyfriend... had that gone south? And why were they all living with Avior? She liked to think that she could put them up, but with her current situation putting a roof over Lieko's head that wasn't... realistic. She needed a bigger place. She needed to get that damned church done. The weather was warming and she would be planting the seedlings that she was starting soon.
s**t, she was out of the loop. What kind of a leader was she?
She would have to deal with that later. Gather them both and explain that it was important that she be kept informed. It didn't matter what they were doing, but it would set her worried heart at ease to know. Especially if they were getting themselves hurt. She would know not to call on them for powered work if they were down an out. They were too much like her -- unwilling or unable to take care of themselves.
Ptolemy's chide of her constant activity made her smile, pulling her from her thoughts.
"Yeah well, working keeps me sane. I may need some help in the near future when things start lining up though. Thanks for the offer." And then the news about Sinope. Ptolemy didn't know that he was living with her and Kissling? Oh dear... oops?
"Oh, no Sinope is currently under my wing, Ptolemy, oh gosh... Remarque didn't tell you? No one did? Holy s**t, I'm sorry! No, Sinope is safe at home with me. I was just wondering if you didn't know why Sinope didn't answer the call but... I guess I'll find out when I get home. You can come with me if you'd like, make sure he's alright with your own eyes." Was she even allowed to tell anyone? Probably not but Rhona was notoriously bad at keeping secrets and it carried over into her powered life it would seem.
"Melpomene," she finally repeated, committing the name to memory through parroting. She plastered on a new smile and held out her hand to him. "Ah yes, now I remember. Forgive me, tunnel vision took over more than a little bit at that point... I don't remember a lot of it. You were injured, right? Well, I'm glad you came. Everyone is always welcome to join when I call, and it looks like we might need back up." She was expecting people to fall in at any moment now, and start trying to puzzle out exactly was the monument behind them was.
