❀ ═══════════════════════════════ ❀ ≡ The deep bass of loud music echoed from an old warehouse in the middle of the night, at the end of a dark alley. Neon lights flashed from inside, as people all around jumped to the thumping of the music, downing shots and relentlessly smoking. In the middle of it all, was a female with cascading blonde hair, clad in a formfitting white halter dress. A haze of pink smoke filled the air of the rave, shimmering most densely around where Valerie elegantly stood, near an unusual mass of vines and roses that climbed through the ground. They definitely didn't belong with the rest of the otherwise grungy neon setting, even if the warehouse was partially dilapidated. Not that anyone was really paying attention. The more that Valerie danced, the more the pink smoke seemed to fill the air, emanating from the both her and the flowers themselves. The addictively sweet aroma of the vapor was absolutely tantalizing, and Valerie knew that people loved it, since inhaling this much of it was enough to put most of the ravers into a hypnotic trance of euphoria.
However, producing so many roses to help circulate the vapor through the air through the use of her powers, was definitely starting to take it's toll. Although Valerie didn't outwardly show it, she was beginning to feel exhaustion coming on. But at least, most of the ravers were where Valerie wanted them, as far as their mental state went. She turned to the nearest group of people beside her, something between both a smile and a smirk dancing on her lips. "Give me all your money," was all that Valerie had to whisper soothingly to them along with her sweet smelling haze of pink smoke, to get them to comply to her every word. As expected, the group emptied their pockets of every dollar and credit card, handing it directly over to her. Valerie repeated the same tactic, this time with a handsome male, who she had an even easier time getting to listen to her, and a few more people soon after. Within the span of an hour, Valerie had now gathered at least five hundred and fifty dollars worth of cash, along with credit cards, and even a few gift cards.
The blonde then went to an isolated corner of the warehouse, away from where most of the crowds of people were. It wasn't long until she pulled out her cell phone and dialed Sophia, who was both her friend, and her closest confidant. Sophia had always been useful to Valerie when it came to providing her information on the local underground events, as well as making sure that she had getaway rides, or an associate. In exchange, Valerie always gave Sophia a small cut of the earnings. "We made a killing tonight!" Valerie greeted Sophia on the phone with a smile, unable to contain her excitement. "You in here right now, or are you outside? Cause' if your in here, I hope you wore a face mask or something. There's so much smoke, if you get what I mean," Valerie said, not so subtly hinting at their plan. ═══════════════════════════════ PLACEHOLDER❀ Outfit: Halter Dressxxx❦ Alias: Poison Rose xxx❀ OOC:xxx

Outside the dilapidated warehouse, Sophia sat in her junker of a car. On any given night it was nothing short of a miracle that the old rust buckets engine would turn over, but it hasn't failed her yet. If they ever got in trouble with the police she didn't think the car would hold out in a chase, but so far it had served its purpose. Unlike Valerie, Sophia was utterly ordinary and perfectly human. With brown hair and better than average looks, she even looked ordinary compared to Val. Sometimes that worked to her advantage though, when running scams. Not many people looked at her twice. Sometimes the only way to survive was to lie, cheat and steal. Things had gotten decidedly worse since the war between the Dominion and Providence. There was little active fighting outside of the odd scuffle with Dominion sympathizers in the city, but much of the money that used to support programs like food stamps and been funnelled into the war effort. Working whatever odd jobs she could get wasn't enough. That's where Val came in. Tonight would be a bit different though. Sophia nervously ran her fingers over the metal ring laying in her lap, careful not to close it all of the way. Once it was clasp shut there would be no opening it again, or so Sohpia had been told. She wasn't willing to test the theory or the people who had approached her. She only hoped they were telling the truth. Her phone started to ring, and Val's name came across the display. Picking up the phone she asked, "So?" "We made a killing tonight!" Sophia couldn't help put grin. It was always a rush to know they had ripped off a bunch of suckers and a badly needed payday was coming. "Awesome! I'm out back in the rust bucket! Let's get out of here before anyone notices."

❀ ═══════════════════════════════ ❀ ≡ Despite the heavy pounding of the music from within the warehouse, Valerie was still able to detect the voice of Sophia on the other end, followed by the words of, "Awesome! I'm out back in the rust bucket! Let's get out of here before anyone notices." Valerie grinned to herself, eager to make her escape before the psychological effects of the euphoria-inducing vapor wore off the unsuspecting rave-goers. She slipped a leather jacket on over her dress and quickly made her escape through an old steel door.
Once Valerie dashed outside, she was greeted by the crisp air of a cold night. Now that Valerie was beyond the radius of her plants, she knew that they would soon wither away and die as quickly as they'd grown, and that the toxic vapors would fade away as though they'd never been present at all. But after exerting this much of her powers, Valerie was both exhausted, and relieved that she wouldn't have to feel the strain of ensuring the pink smoke kept being produced. With the old and rusted, once industrial environment, it would seem that Sophia's car blended in perfectly, so much so that Val had a difficult time spotting it at first.
However, the blonde quickly made her way over to the car as soon as she noticed it and slid into the passenger seat next to her friend. Both Valerie's purse and the pockets of her jacket were nearly overflowing with cash and credit cards. "Here's your cut, Soph!" Valerie said with a relaxed smile, as placed a wad of fifties and a few cards between where they both sat. "Maybe you can use some of it to get a replacement for this shabby bucket of rust," She then stated jokingly while inspecting her reflection in a compact mirror, briefly smoothing her cascade of golden blonde hair back into place. For as long as Valerie could remember, she'd cracked these sort of mildly insulting jokes toward her friend ever since they'd first met. But Valerie couldn't remember Sophia ever telling her that she minded it, and so had never bothered stopping.
With a soft click, Valerie shut her compact mirror and glanced back over at Sophia."I am so exhausted. You have no idea how much effort it takes to intoxicate that many people at once," She began to say with a tired sigh. "Honestly though, I wouldn't be able to pull any of this off without your help, Soph. You're the only person who I can truly be open to right now about my powers, and I'm thankful for that," Valerie then admitted to her friend on another note, a more kind one. But it wasn't look until the look of determination lit back in her bright blue eyes. "Alright, let's get outta' here!" She said, eager to get home, or at least to somewhere nicer that wasn't sitting outside of a dilapidated warehouse. ═══════════════════════════════ PLACEHOLDER❀ Outfit: Halter Dressxxx❦ Alias: Poison Rose xxx❀ OOC:xxx

Seeing Valerie exit the back door of the club, Sophia quickly tucked the silver metal ring between her seat and the driver side door so Val wouldn't see it when she got in the car. The interior lights flicked on as the door squeaked open, causing Sophia to squint and blink. Her eyes had gotten used to the dark waiting for Val. Blessedly they quickly turned off again as her super-powered friend pulled the heavy metal door shut. Cards and cash were placed in the center console. She would use the credits cards first of course. Buying as much as she could and getting cash back on purchases before their owners cancelled them. The cash would be squirrelled away...somewhere. Unfortunately, her alcoholic, drug addict father had found her last hiding place and blown it all. What Valerie gave her might be able to keep the lights on a few more days while she and her siblings scrambled to scrape together some cash. They couldn't afford a disconnection fee. All of that would be behind her soon though. Sophia rolled her eyes when Val brought up buying a new car. "More like steal one from a sketchy used car dealer when this one gives out. On the bright side, no one thinks it's worth stealing or even vandalizing." She wasn't even sure if it was street legal, but the cops had other things to worry about in her part of town. And stealing a car was hardly the most illegal thing she had done for money. While Val looked in her mirror, Sophia's hand started to slip between the seat and the door where she had stashed the collar. Her hand curled around it while Val complained about how exhausted she was. You don't even know the meaning of exhausted, she thought. How much easier would her life would be if she had Val's powers. Or any powers at all. But then suddenly Val got all sappy on her, and Sophia froze. Was she really going to screw over her friend for... well a lot of money. "Don't tell me you're getting soft!" She scoft, pulling out the silver collar. "Hey, I got you a present. You should try it on, it'll go great with your dress." She said holding it up in the dim light.

≡ Valerie listened to what her friend had to say about the car, unable to help but laugh. "Well hey, if you want to steal something, you know I'm always down to help you out!" She offered with an eager smile, already looking forward to their next heist, whatever it may be.
However, a look of surprise suddenly lit in her gaze when her friend pull out what looked like from Valerie's perspective, a really expensive silver collar necklace. "Wait, aren't you like, poor?" She couldn't help but say. "Unless you stole it. Either way, you didn't have to get me this! Thank you," Valerie then finally exclaimed to Sophia, happily laughing. For a moment, she held the collar against her dress, admiring how the silver tones of it matched with the smooth white fabric. Soon after, while looking at herself in the mirror, Valerie slipped the collar on around her neck. ═══════════════════════════════ PLACEHOLDER❀ Outfit: Halter Dressxxx❦ Alias: Poison Rose xxx❀ OOC:xxx

Sophia was feeling a bit guilty about selling her 'friend' out. Okay, a lot guilty. At least that was until Valerie commented on her being poor. I won't be poor for long, she thought to herself as she watched Valerie put the collar on. "Let's just say I have my ways." Val wouldn't notice anything right away. Not unless she tried to take it off or use her powers. Maybe they couldn't give Sophia powers, but Val could experience what it's like to be human for a bit. When Sophia had asked 'Couldn't she just take it off?' to the man who had given it to her, he had explained that a key was needed. A Key that Sophia didn't have. She frowned slightly as a couple of men came strolling towards the car. They certainly didn't suit your classic evil organization appearance Hollywood portrayed in movies. These two men looked like they belonged to a biker gang. Leathers, chains, beards and tattoos. The whole nine yards. That wasn't why Sophia was frowning though. She had expected these guys...just not yet. She hadn't even given them the single yet. Either they weren't very good at following a plan or they thought she was going to chicken out. "Should we teach these guys not to mess with a couple of 'helpless' woman?" Sophia asked Val.
