The sun is rising. Morning breaks a tumultuous evening and feelings of excitement and uneasiness have only grown throughout the night.

What was meant to be an evening of celebration (albeit interspersed with some confrontation and conflict) has been cut short. A nearby rockslide has made for potential trouble for the celebrating lions, who dispersed to check on loved ones and make a plan. It's time for action, now. Time to recover what has potentially be lost.

This is a continuation of the first N'ezi-ozu Meta ORP!

To catch up on events leading to this ORP, please refer to the prior thread here.

This RP is open to all members of the N'ezi-ozu. At the time of posting this RP is open and it will run until the concluding event. The mule may be posting updates throughout the RP, so keep an eye out! If you have a member with specific circumstances and don't know if you are able to participate or any other questions, feel free to PM the mule.

Summary of Recent Events…

  • The evening's celebrations were cut short by the sound of a nearby rockslide, coupled with the sounds of a lion's shout. The general location of the rockslide has been determined by individuals at the feast. As has the general identification of the voice: it was certainly a male, and not a cub.

  • As advised by Itiri, those eager to investigate and search for missing loved ones have taken time to cool their heads, check on family members, and form a plan. It is now the morning after the feast. Those who are willing to search the area of the rockslide have gathered to compile a list of those missing:

Isiike, lead Amusu of the Agha family, has not been seen in a while. It has been assumed, though, that he is within the catacombs deep in his work. There's no harm in checking for him, though.

Nchekwube, adolescent of the N'anya family, was last seen leaving the feast a little while before the rockslide occurred. He had not been seen since, but was noted to be worked up as he left the feast. It could be that he is simply taking some time alone somewhere else in the pride, as the adolescent was known to do so on occasion.

What now?

The current setting is the site of the rockslide, a little ways outside the center of the pride where the general living area is. This area has been known to be dangerous and eyes have been kept on it in anticipation of such an event: it was known that traveling here was dangerous. You are located at the top of the slide. The slope descends steeply. While not a cliff, one must tread carefully. The ground has seemed to have settled. There are paths that will be easier to travel. There is brush and trees scattered around, so visibility isn't impossible. Still, it's recommended that you stay close to each other and watch each other's backs.

    OOC:
  • Roll a 100-sided die for each character's post (two die if you are playing two characters in each post). The first person to match each of the numbers rolled in this post will trigger an event or find a clue. After the last number is rolled, the end of the RP will be triggered. (In the event that this takes much longer than anticipated, a smaller dice may be substituted).
  • After you post, please wait for someone else to post before going again, and please fill out your post with RP before making another. In the event that a couple days pass before a post is made, the mule will make a post to 'reset'.
  • Please quote the mule when you roll a matching number!
  • Numbers yet to be rolled: 73, 55, 43, 62, 24, 41, 37, 66

    IC Play-by-play:
  • [X] As the group was making their way down the slope, two potential clues were found: A trail that smelled of a lion, and a flock of birds taking off not far away. The group split up to follow the two clues.
  • [X] The group that was following the trail encountered a road block! The adventurers managed the move the rubble enough to continue on their way.
  • [X] The group following the birds encountered a pitfall! Kione found himself stuck, but the gang managed to get him free and continue on their way.

Just Joining In?

No problem! You can play as if your character was there the whole time. As described above, the ORP as effectively split into two groups. You can pick which group to follow and see where they're at in the play-by-play. At the moment the group is split into two halves, and you can jump in to either of them and just pretend you've been there ;D

Of course she had volunteered to help; partially due to worry but mostly for curiosity's sake. To be honest, it was rather refreshing not to be out hunting for a change. She had been up since the crack of drawn as always, but she had not walked a mile before the sun came up which was always a more pleasant start to the day than what she was used to. Though, when orange eyes first looked upon the descent she soon realised that hunting with Afya might have been easier than the task ahead.

Nyarai hummed with slight nerves, putting one paw in front of the other; looking around at the others who had too decided to explore the source of the noises that came from the night before. She had heard a scream, a voice, a cry for help? She was sure of it despite others telling her it may have just been the wind. Ink had talked her out of coming here alone last night - she just hoped that in doing so they had not forsaken anyone.

“Here we go then, anyone taking bets on how long it is before I go tail overhead?” She laughed, talking to nobody in particular as she started to make her way down the side. Then she slipped and panicked before coming to a stop a foot away from where she had lost her grip. Her heart was pumping strong in her chest as a small scream left her lips. “Wh-oa.” Her legs buckled but then she was still.

“Heck.” She pouted, looking over her shoulder to see if the dark female was following her. “Afyaaaaaa! It is SO slippy.”

User ImageZuko found himself, along with a number of other Nezi, at the top of the rock slide that had occurred the day before. There were a few lions that were yet to be seen and it was never good to assume that they were all safe. He observed the mess, scanning the area first for any obvious signs of danger or distress, but there were none. The rocks and the dirt were as silent as always.

He took a careful step off the ledge and onto a rock, testing its position. It was safe, not wobbling at all, and took his entire weight as he settled himself onto it. Red eyes once again scanned the scene, but nothing had changed from a moment before.

Mgbamizu felt terribly for up and leaving Isi all of a sudden from the feast. He had not spotted her during the celebration, and when he heard the rock slide he panicked. After saying a quick goodbye, he headed back towards his home, finding his mother along the way. Releasing a sigh he did not realize he was holding, the lion had made his way back to the den instead of back to the party. The celebrations were waning, and with the weariness of the rockslide starting to set in amongst the members, Mgbamizu found it better to just stay at home. He could investigate later.

That later was the next morning. He, along with many others had accumlated at the rockslide location. He spotted the familiar face of the Agha Zuko, making his way over to him.

"Zuko," he said quietly, his tone not as upbeat as their previous meeting. As the other took a step off the ledge, Mgbamizu shied a bit. "Be carefu there."

His world was starting to crash down around him. It seemed that nothing but badluck was upon his family and the silver male was very seriously starting to question the world as he knew it.

Nchekwube was missing. He was silently praying that the voice coming from the rubble was not his second sons. If it was, it seemed that misfortune had its sight set on his family and his family alone. Was he bound to lose a second son this day? Was his family going to dwindle to nothing because of some maelstrom that was hell bound to decimate everything he loved?

All he could do was look on and help and hope that Nchwebe was not beneath this land slide, that he still had two sons.

A startled scream from his left made Zuko grimace, his ears pinning back against his head. He turned a disdainful eye towards the orange lioness who had gone a bit too enthusiastically down the slope, losing her balance along the way.

"Let's not start another one of these, hm?" he said, clearly not amused with her antics. Rock slides were common here and something as simple as a misplaced foot or a shout could send one sliding down the hillsides. Thankfully the one that had occurred last night was fairly large and it lessened the odds of another happening so soon, but one could never be too careful.

His name drew his attention to his right where Mgbamizu stood, watching him from just a few feet away. He gave a little nod, his tail flicking back and forth.

"You as well. It is rather treacherous, as Nyarai has mentioned," he said, his tone still dry but less upset. "I think it best we take our time and not rush headfirst down the slope." There were already lions missing, they didn't need to add injured ones to the list.

You all have only just started descending the slope. Before you are the larger remnants of the rockslide: larger boulders that were stopped by the brush and large trees have settled here and there. As you step, a larger rock shifts and tumbles down the slope.

Are those skid marks? Something is revealed behind where the large rock was. It seems lion-sized, but it's hard to say for sure. Should you follow them?

The movement of the rock seems to have disturbed a group of birds in the distance. They're somewhat large. Ravens? Or maybe even vultures? There's a lot of them, and they seemed spooked. Should you check them out?

Characters may split up to follow the two paths, or stick together and follow one. Discuss!

It might have been childish, but Nyarai had never really cared what the others thought about her. The action stopped as soon as his head turned in her direction; instead, she just pretended she was looking at the clouds.

Stupid, elegant, soft-footed, moody faced - Zuko.

No sooner had he scolded Nyarai, Zuko ate a bit of humble pie as his next step dislodged the next boulder he was trying to step on. Thankfully he didn’t follow it down the hill and got his balance back on the original rock. His ears were pinned back against his head as the huge rock tumbled down, revealing a bit of struggle marks in the dirt. Well...

He hopped down to the exposed ground, sniffing delicately at it. “I think someone was here,” he murmured, the birds not nearly as interesting to him at the moment. He hopped back up onto the rocks, looking at the tracks. It could have been made by anything, but he decided to stick with what he had uncovered.

Urupuru started to slowly decend behind the others. He cast a slightly disapproving glance at Nyarai, but quickly turned his gaze to the matter at hand. Descending down this shifting slope.

It seemed their movement was shifting the rocks, dislodging the slope. He paused and pulled up beside the dark male casting his gaze on the horizon. Though the spooked birds did not escape his attention more interesting was the stone that moved below them. “What is that?” He nodded his head down the slope. He was to be a male of few words today, he did not want to speak for fear of letting a tirade roll over his teeth.

Mgbamizu's own brown ears disappeared in his green mane at the natics from Nyarai. "You be careful as well!" That's all they needed right now was an injured lion to bring back, on top of looking of the missing lions.

Taking a cautious step forward, Mgbamizu felt the rocks shift slightly under his weight. He should be use to this, as the borders he rested on during his daily 'patrols' were always shifting. Maybe it was the paranoia running through him that made him wary. He frowned. "I am all for taking it slow. Yep." he took another step. "Slow and steady wins the race here."

The brown Aguu watched as a large rock shifted and rolled. Startled, he stopped his descent, as Zuko moved forward.

"Someone was here? Is it a familiar scent?" He was keen on staying with Zuko at this time. Safety in numbers, right?

It was unsurprising that Afya had decided to join the efforts. There were a few pride members that had yet to show up, and it would put everyone at ease to locate them as swiftly as possible. The dark lioness was not the type to be able to sit down at the sidelines and watch all the hustle and bustle move around her. No, she had to be in the thick of it. A small pit of anxiety had developed in her stomach, and the only way to alleviate it was to make sure that everyone in the pride was safe.

Especially those who had also joined the mission, Afya thought blandly as Nyarai practically tripped over her own two feet. Her pale companion was probably not the best person to have scaling the mountainside. But, there was no stopping her, and so Afya had decided to just stay very close. She'd grab the female by the tail if she had to in order to keep her from slipping. Afya had grown fonder of her friend, lately, and was almost developing a mothering attitude towards her.

Which made her less patient with Zuko's criticism. Someone had to defend Nyarai's fragile honor. After all, it only took one negative look in Nyarai's direction to make the lioness visibly wilt. "And let's just learn from Nyarai's mistake and be careful," Afya advised, her tone alluding to the fact that she was displeased with the both of them. This was why she didn't have cubs. They would stress her out too much.

Afya nearly jumped out of her fur when Zuko nearly took a tumble herself. They were all going to kill her by the end of this expedition. At least his stumbling had led towards a revelation. Anxiously, Afya glanced up towards the sky, taking note of a large flock of birds. They could have gathered for any reason, but the first word that came to her mind was 'corpse', and that alone was unsettling.

"Nyarai, stick with me." Someone had to watch out for the pale lioness, and well, Afya didn't trust anyone else to do it.

Comments from Afya were ignored in favor of the discovery that had been made. It seemed she would be sticking with Nyanai which was probably for the better. Zuko glanced over his shoulder as Mgbamizu spoke up, shaking his head at the question.

"It's hard to say," he said, looking back at the marks. "I think the scent was covered by the landslide." It was faint and he wasn't even totally sure it was an animal that had made it, but judging by the way the marks were it would have been a strange stroke of luck to be made by a rock or tree.

"But either way, we should probably check out the direction they're leading in just to be sure."
