Oreia's Extreme Adoption Game

Opens: Dec 1st
Closes: Dec 23rd, 11:59 PST
Judges: Green Minuet, smolderingskies, grandma duckeh

It's that time again! In the dead of winter, Nightmares and Daydreams of all shapes and sizes flock to the orphanages in Below to give a child a home for the holidays.

          How this Works:
          • Fill out the form below and post it in this thread!
          • Roll 3 4-sided dice to determine the story your character will have for adopting their child. Try to be creative with your interpretation of the prompts, and add as much to them as you'd like!
          • Take the scenarios presented to you by the dice rolls and elaborate upon them in RP.

Die 1: How did you get to the orphanage?
          • 1: You wrote a letter to the orphanage a while back and received no response, so you decided to show up in person.
          • 2: You saw an ad for the orphanage that struck a chord within you, so you showed up to the orphanage.
          • 3: You didn't expect to be here today, but it just happened, and now you're on the orphanage's stoop.
          • 4: Something has caused you to be volunteering for the orphanage for about the last week, and today is the last day you planned on volunteering.

Die 2: What happens when you're invited into the orphanage's play room?
          • 1: You sit down in a chair and don't feel drawn any child in particular. However, a child approaches you.
          • 2: You take notice of a child who is playing by themselves with a myriad of toys that are all of a similar category (i.e., horses, trucks).
          • 3: You take notice of a child at the coloring table and join them in their artistic endeavors.
          • 4: You enter the room and are immediately a person of interest for every child in the room except one, who stays away and ignores you.

Die 3: But just as you're about to leave...
          • 1: You decide for some reason that maybe adoption isn't for you, and you go home empty-handed. But later that evening...
          • 2: You run into a child sitting in the waiting room that wasn't in the play room.
          • 3: The child from the play room runs out and meets you in the lobby to tell/give you something.
          • 4: The receptionist admits that he had been watching you and asks if you've ever considered adoption.

            Rules:
            • This contest is completely free.
            • Please use the form provided.
            • Anyone may enter, whether they are a newbie or not!
            • Staff who are not judging MAY enter this contest!
            • Whining, guilt-tripping, or generally misbehaving over the contest will result in you being disqualified.

RP Response:
Isley was sitting in front of her desk where she was staring at her Venus flytrap “ Ivy, today is a boring day. I finished all my work with in a hour and now there is nothing.” Isley got up and went and grabbed her mail “ Bills, Bills, Bills...” then she paused “ What is this?” She pulled out a flyer that seemed hand written. She looked at it and on it was a picture of beautiful little freshling. Then she turned it over and read the back. “ Volunteer!!!!! That seem like fun!” Isley run over to closet and grabbed her jacket, hat and gloves. Then she ran over to ivy and told her plant goodbye. Then she ran out of her door. Before she even stepped foot off of her porch she forgot the flyer “ I almost ran out of here with out even knowing where i was going.” She laughed and ran back inside of her house and grabbed the flyer.

When she arrived and was very nervous. It was like the feeling you get when it is the first day of school. “ They are freshlings Isley. They will not kill you.” Isley look a deep breath and walked into the orphanage. The entrance was quite, so she walked over the counter that had a window that she could talk to the person on the other side. The lady on the other side of the window didnt look to happy. She looke as Isley and asked her why she was there. Instead of her just telling the lady why she was there. She gave her a whole story about her morning routine. As soon as she got to the part when she said she wanted to volunteer the woman shot out of her set and ran and open the door. “We are excited to have you volunteer! We need as many hand as we can get.” As soon as the lady open the door and big wave of freshling sound came out of the door.

Isley thought today was a fun day. Then it was recess everyone ran outside to play. Isley watched them all from inside. Then she heard a noise behind her. There was freshling playing in a toy box by themself. Isley looked at them and she felt slrey for this little one. So she walked over and introduced herself. The Freshling was shy at first but then started to warm up. After the kinds came inside they had nap time. When all lf the kid where alseep they called Isley into the office. She was frightened. She was thing on why she would be called in there and what she was going to say. The only thing she could think of that she was sorry or dont call the cops. When she arrived in the office they told her to sit down. The person looked at her and smiled. They handed her a paper and asked her in she ever thought about adoption. They explained to her that they where watching her while she and that she had a very motherly personality. Then they explained that the child that she played with wouldn’t talk to anyone but she got it to talk to her. She smiled she never thought she would adopt. She thoight about thenfun time she had and even the moments that wasn’t good. She always felt alone and ot would be nice to be a mother. She smiled and started to cry and say she would love to adopt.

RP Response:Twili was shuffling down a cold busy street, she pulled he coat closed tighter around her and shivered a bit as her scales slid over the cold pavement. A flyer caught on the wind hit her chest and as she went to brush it away she paused looking at it. The small eyes of a freshling so saddened by the thought of not having a home for the holidays. Twili too was alone for yet another winter solstice. Perhaps she thought, it was time to change that.

Once arriving at the orphanage she was greeted by a warm caretaker who led her into a playroom with dozens of freshlings scattered amongst the toys. Most of them formed little groups and seemed to be paying some imaginary game with dolls or cars. There was, however, one freshling sitting by their self amongst a stack of books. This struck Twili as odd in a room full of every toy a child could want this one seemed to be hoarding books. "Whatcha, reading?" she said softly to the child. The child looked up almost angered by the intrusion. "A book" this made twili Chuckle. "I can see it's a book what is it about?" To this, the child rolled their eyes. "Look, lady, if you want you can read it after me." Seeing that the child did not want to be disturbed Twilli gave them a smile and a nod before making her way around the room and finally leaving.

However on her way out she saw a freshling sitting in the waiting room swinging their legs from the chair. Thier hands were outstretched in front of them and they seemed to be mimicking driving a horseless carriage. "Where are we going?" she sat on the chair next to them. "Anywhere but here" they pretended to call over their shoulder and continued furiously moving their arms. "What are we going to do when we get there?" She asked, "Idk probably eat." To this twilli chucked. Her stomach began growling, however, a sing that it really was time to get something to eat. She pretended to open a door and close it when getting up. "Thanks for the ride kiddo, this is my stop." She waved and they waved back "Maybe I'll see you down the line sometime lady!" Maybe, just maybe....

Quote:
The initial idea struck him hours after he first saw the flyer on his way home from work. Archie hadn't known his own parents and he rarely felt the lack, but the thoughts he was having now were the white noise kind that came to you in the shower, and those were never all that rational. As he scrubbed his hair he found himself wondering about the orphaned kids that had been left behind in the wake of October's Hallowed Rush, and the notion that they might be sad or lonely stuck with him like little else did.

Just three days later he walked into the orphanage, tail twined shyly around his leg.

"Hello!" he said brightly to a bakeneko near the door. "I'm here to meet some... children?" Archie swallowed. "Yes. I want to adopt one of them. Maybe."

The Nightmare chuckled, his warm smile hiding his actual reaction to Archie's hesitance. "A reluctant parent, eh? It can be hard to commit to such a drastic life change, so I commend you for even trying! If you're meant to care for a child, the right one will find you eventually."

He sounded so sure of himself that Archie couldn't help but calm, and as he was led into the playroom, he even managed a toothy smile for the kids they passed. He was directed to a small stool near the center of the space, and he nodded when the bakeneko asked if he was comfortable.

"I'll just... um... be right here."

And there was where he sat. Hours seemed to pass, though the cheery clock on the wall disagreed, and eventually a tiny freshling barely out of diapers waddled over and sat at Archie's feet. He could hardly remember being so small.

"Hi there!" One thing was for sure. It was far easier to be sure of yourself when the person you were speaking to hadn't been a person for very long at all. "How are you today?"

The child peered up at him. "Cookie."

"Hm." Was she hungry? Was Cookie the name of her favorite toy? Had she just lost the majority of her memory, leaving cookie as the only word she remembered? Archie tried to make eye contact with one of the other adults in the room only to find... there weren't any. He spotted some loose sheets of paper instead, and in a desperate bid to earn potential Future Dad Points he made a grab for it, picking up a nearby crayon as well. Half a minute later, he held a cookie of sorts out to the child. It was purple and two-dimensional, but it was better than nothing at all, at least as far as he was concerned. The girl glanced from the drawing to Archie and back again, taking it with her when she fled. He remained where he was a little while longer, then took his slightly dejected and unnoticed leave when she didn't return, dropping the crayon back on the table with its brothers. Well, that had been a bust.

Archie managed to temporarily push the visit out of his mind on the way back to his apartment, convincing himself with surprisingly little effort that he had never actually wanted the responsibility of caring for a child in the first place. The problem was... he had. He just wasn't good enough. He wasn't smart or fun or—

"Hey, Arch? Call for you."

The hybrid sat up straight in response to his roommate's words. How had he managed to be so distracted that he'd missed the ringing? Archie answered quickly after that, fumbling with his cell for a second before speaking.

"Hello?"

"Mr. Saturn?"

"Mmhm. Archie speaking."

"Oh, hey! This is Louie from the orphanage. I just wanted to let you know that we think you did a great job today. Even though Claire probably isn't the right kid for you—"

"Claire?"

"Cookie girl. She's a little young to be adopted right now, but there are a ton of other kids who would benefit from a loving home."

"Yeah, okay."

"If you've changed your mind, I understand as well."

"Oh, no! It's not that. It's just... she wandered off. I thought I'd bored her."

Louie chuckled. "You most certainly did not, I assure you! She's not the most verbal kid, but I think she must have told her friends about her new cookie at least a hundred times."

"Really?"

"Really! So if you wouldn't mind staying on the list, maybe we can find you a match in the future."

"Sure, definitely!" Archie smiled as they said their goodbyes, his heart far lighter than it had been. Maybe today hadn't been such a bad day after all.

RP Response:

Life had been lonely. Quiet. She was alone. It was the same thing every day, the same mindless grind of getting through the day. It was on such a day that something caught her eye; an advertisement. An advertisement for a child.

The idea of having another to take care of besides herself was ridiculous. She could just get a pet. She needed to focus on taking care of herself. But... rather than going home, she found herself outside the orphanage, hours nearing the close. She should go home. This wasn't the place for her.

Sucking in a deep breath, she asked for admittance. Slowly, she stepped into the bright, cheerful atmosphere. Her eyes traveled, taking in the bright colors, the running children, the excited chatter. She stepped further into the foyer... and eyes fell upon a lonely child, among a mountain of dolls. They were all neatly arrange. And... it seemed they were the child's only company.

Her throat caught. No... she couldn't cure the child's loneliness. She couldn't even cure her own at the moment. No, this was crazy. Shaking her head, she turned from the lonely child, left the orphanage, turned her back on the change.

She went through the rest of the day in routine. Mindless, boring, routine. She made dinner. She set the table for herself. She sat. Across the small table... it was empty. There could have been a child. But there wasn't.

"Maybe..." she murmured to herself, laying her chin on the table. "Maybe I could at least consider it..." Tomorrow. Tomorrow, she would go to the orphanage and talk to someone about the potential of adopting.

RP Response: Cyndal was growing bored with her daily routine, constant grooming, regime of skin care and make up, clothing must be checked daily for rips, tears and to be pressed and her shoes! So many shoes that have to be polished, heels checked for cracks and straps must be in perfect condition to wear. As much as she loved her lavish lifestyle something felt like it was missing.

Sighing in midstroke as she brushed her long beautiful hair absent minded her mind began to drift to the visit she had a few hours before came to her. She spent the day with her sister, Callie Mae and her newly adopted child, Pippi. Pippi was adopted from the orphanage and the look of happiness on her sister's face was something she coveted. Pippi made her life complete and she wanted the same feeling. While she was there, she saw the paper her sister had about the children of the orphanage, it contained a ad. She scanned it quickly and put it in her purse to take home and read. Her sister was going to toss it in the garbage anyway so it was of no consequence to take it home and read.

She put down the brush and took the ad out of her purse and began to read, not even finishing the entire ad she was on her feet and grabbing her purse and keys to head out to the orphanage.

She walked quickly, wanting to get there with a urgency she can not recall ever experiencing before and suddenly there in front of her loomed the large building with a fence all the way around. It looked dark, gloomy and unfriendly to her as if it was challenging her in some way. Squaring her shoulders, tossing her hair back she strode through the gate with her back straight and her eyes forward with a determined walk. The door was in reach when it opened and a few children came bouncing out and stopped to stare at her. She smiled and moved gently around them to go inside, one of the looked back over their shoulder at her before continuing on to play with their friends.

Inside the building, she squinted a bit since it was so bright. Taking a slow look around she noticed a large reception area which was warmly painted and decorated, there was comfortable looking chairs and couches for the visitors to sit on while they waited, magazines adorned the tables in front of them and lovely flowers gave off a amazing fragrance which stirred in the air.

The receptionist motions for her to go into a large room just off to the side of the area she was now in, nodding her thanks she entered a large room which was occupied by numerous children of varying ages playing or interacting with adults. Not wanting to interfere, Cyndal found a seat on the edge of the room to watch the children at play. Looking around she did not set her attention on any particular child, wanting to savor each moment she was there in this atmosphere. She was used to the constant pressure of her job and lifestyle, to come here was relaxing to her. She suddenly realized how her sister felt when she came her to adopt a child, the feeling of wanting a child of her own grew as she sat there observing.

Suddenly one of the children stopped playing and looked her in the eyes, tilted their adorable head to the side and stood up and walked over to her. They reached out and placed their hands on hers and smiled. Tilting their head again, they giggled before bouncing off to continue playing.

Cyndal's eyes began to smart with tears, she never knew a child could be so sweet. Reaching into her bag she pulled out a hankerchief and dabbed her eyes slowly, so her make up would not be messed up. She sat there for a unknown amount of time enjoying herself while the children played and conversed with one another and the adults in the room. Several children looked her way, a few waved others smiled but none approached her except that one child. Without intending it, her eyes kept finding that one child.

Realizing she had been there for a exceptionally long time, she stood up and excused herself quietly and left the room. As she was walking towards the door the receptionist called out to her. Turning she walked back to the large desk and the receptionist said to her "I was watching you while you were in the play room with the children, you seem unsure of yourself but you were very content to sit there and enjoy the children playing". "That one child approached you and the tears that came to your eyes made up my mind for me to ask you, have you considered adoption?" "I believe you would make a exceptional parent for any lucky child" with that said she held out a packet which Cyndal knew was the adoption application. Nodding, Cyndal said "Yes I have thought about adoption, my sister adopted a child not to long ago and her happiness made me realize what I was missing in my life and now I wish to adopt a child of my own" reaching for a pen she sat down on the chair and used the table to lean on as she began to fill out the paperwork.

She took her time filling out the application and the questionnaire, when she was finished she took it to the receptionist and handed it in. "The director will look over your application and contact you within a week to let you know if you are considered for adoption or you are declined and why, but rest assured I will tell her my observations and they will weigh in her decision" with a smile the receptionist told her to have a good day and waved her to the door.

RP Response: Kasseri sighed as she stood in front of the orphanage, gazing up at the second story windows. Inside this building she would hopefully find a child to love and care for. Kass was lonely, a need steadily growing inside her to care for and love at least one of the children who didn’t have family. She’d written to the orphanage a while back, but had gotten no response. It made her feel a little uncertain, but she wouldn’t let that get the best of her. Kass sighed once more, then squared her shoulders and walked up to the front door to knock. A few moments wait along with a polite welcome and she was standing in the playroom.

There were children everywhere, all races, even mixes. A small child at a coloring table grabbed Kass’s attention. They looked quite happy, enthusiastically coloring some papers. Kass sat down on the floor next to them and grinned as she looked at their picture. “Hi, I’m Kasseri, but my friends call me Kass. That’s a very cool drawing you’re making there. Is that a familiar?” She gently reached out and pointed at a pink blob on the paper. A cute smile and a nod in her direction were the only responses she received. A quiet child, she didn’t mind that at all. She was normally quiet herself, loving the curled up together in a blanket kind of companionship.

Kass reached out and picked up a dark blue crayon and started carefully drawing herself on a blank paper. She grabbed orange to finish her colorings then another crayon was picked up, and a small child started to form on the paper, one that looked just like the sweet child sitting next to her right this moment. She drew them holding hands and standing in front of her house. She drew her familiar sitting at the child’s feet. Once she was finished she passed the drawing to the child with a soft smile, then turned away to hide the tears forming in her eyes. She brushed the tears away swiftly and turned back to the orphan. “I have to get going now, but I’m hoping to see you again sometime very soon. Have a fun rest of your day.” She gave them a gentle hug and started back towards the front of the building.

Kass had just reached the lobby when she heard shoes running across the floor. Turning around caused her a great surprise. The child she’d just been sitting and coloring with was running towards her. They had a paper tightly clenched in one of their outstretched hands. She opened her arms wide as she croutched down, offering another hug automatically. The child flew into her arms and held tight to her neck, almost choking her with the force of their enthusiasm. Some cuddles and a kiss on the cheek followed the hug. “I really do need to leave now. But I very very much hope to see you again.” It broke her heart a little to have to leave them here. They looked up at her with large eyes and held out the paper they’d been coloring to her. “For me? Really?” They nodded at her twice, one for each question. “Thank you so much! I’ll put this up right when I get home!” She gave them one final kiss on the cheek and a hug before turning and walking out the door.

Prompt 3: You run into a child sitting in the waiting room that wasn't in the play room.

RP Response:

Praline had been plastering their apartment with Solstice decorations. Every surface features some shiny bauble, or light, to convey the joy of the season. And of course, it was all colour co-ordinated. It couldn't not be! The radio played in the background, a buzzing noise to keep Praline company. They hadn't been listening to the words, until a new add came over. "Remember, at this time of the year, our orphanages are full of freshlings that dream of having somewhere of their own this Solstice. Could that place be with you?"

Praline wrinkled their brow, and glanced around the apartment. Despite being so decorated and carefully style, somehow it suddenly felt awfully empty. ... Why was that?

---

Praline glanced at huge door to the orphanage. How exactly had they ended up here? Stupid ad. It had chewed at the corners of their mind every hour since they had heard it. And now, here they were. Considering adoption of all things. Sliding into the lobby, they were ushered in to the play room to 'make a connection'. Their gaze slipped from face to face, but each child seem occupied. Making crafts, building with blocks, playing with each other. Truly, Praline felt out of place here.

They shifted, uncomfortably watching the children. Surely if this was meant to be, they'd receive some sort of sign. Praline felt a sudden tug on their tail. Glancing down, they were looking directly into a pair of very defiant eyes. "If you don't have a new toy, and aren't going to play with anyone, you should probably go." Hand on hips, the freshling was imperious. Clearly Praline had made a transgression, and this really wasn't the place for them at all.

"Uh, sorry? I guess you're right?" There. There was the sign. These kids didn't need Praline. They didn't want Praline. Praline could just go home to their nice apartment and forget their weird adventure all together.

Slithering out to the lobby, Praline went about signing out of the log book. The radio was on again, and that ad came on once more. Praline didn't quite squirm, but it was near thing. They'd tried, but clearly this just wasn't right. Out of the corner of their eye, they caught sight of a freshling sitting curled up in one of the lobby chairs, all alone. They were deeply focused on a colouring book they were holding, and seemed to be putting an awful lot of consideration into the choice of each colour. Praline smiled. That focus looked awfully familiar.

The freshling looked up, seeming to know that they were being watch. "Um ... Hi ... " They held up the book, flashing the colouring page they were working on. "Could ... you help me choose the right colour for this part? I need it to be right ... " Praline's face broke into a grin.

"Yeah, I can totally do that."

Prompt 1: 1: You wrote a letter to the orphanage a while back and received no response, so you decided to show up in person.
Prompt 2: 1: You sit down in a chair and don't feel drawn any child in particular. However, a child approaches you.
Prompt 3: 3: The child from the play room runs out and meets you in the lobby to tell/give you something.

RP Response: Ahha had tired a number of times to apply at the clinic and had not had much luck she had also been to the orphanage before and had sent letter and gotten no answer. So she decided she would just show up again, she had made the choice to take the tea that made her infertile to help control her natural magic. Because she wanted to sing and be heard on her own merit rather than the magic in her peoples' voices. She boldly went up to the door and went inside ignoring the annoyed looked one of the caretakers had given her as she entered without knocking and without invitation. She couldn't bring herself to care though, something in her heart said she needed to try again. Even when it hurt that she had tried and failed to imbue on her own. This could be her chance to have a family and help a freshling that had no place to call home on the winter solstice.

Abha looked around the room for a bit, but she didn't feel drawn to any of the freshlings at first glance. So she sighed sitting down in a chair, perhaps being too bold with freshlings wasn't a good idea anyway. She waiting a long time before she caught a bit of color out of the corner of her eye. She looked down from the chair she had chosen to sit on. Her tail flipping about in a nervous fashion. She first caught sight of the freshling who had approached her. Abha smiled and gestured to the chair next to her and she said. "Hi I'm Abha what's your name?" The freshling responded with their name in an excited bright tone. So happy and full of life. Abha couldn't help but think she would crawl across glass for the chance to take this freshling home with her so she could celebrate the winter solstice with them.

As time wore on it was almost time to go the staff saying that Abha had to go the freshlings would have to go to bed soon. She sat watching the bright-eyed freshling she had been speaking to playing in the playroom. Abha sighed she put in another application and she put their name on the request. Then she went towards the door. She wasn't sure she dared to hope that she would end up spending the rest of the winter solstice with the sweet clever freshling. She knew it would break her heart if she didn't hear from the orphanage yet again, but she couldn't force them to give her the freshling. As she reached for the door the freshling ran out of the playroom grabbing her wrist. Abha leaned down and listened to the wish the little freshling told her was their winter solstice wish. They didn't want candy or toys, all they want for the holiday is a home. Abha quickly whipped her tears away as she bid the freshling goodbye hoping their wish would come true. Since it was her wish as well.

Prompt 1: 4 - Something has caused you to be volunteering for the orphanage for about the last week, and today is the last day you planned on volunteering.
Prompt 2: 1 - You sit down in a chair and don't feel drawn any child in particular. However, a child approaches you.
Prompt 3: 1 - You decide for some reason that maybe adoption isn't for you, and you go home empty-handed. But later that evening...

RP Response: Winter Solstice was Verona's favorite holiday, but the one thing she never really did was visit the orphanages. Her thing was holiday cheer, playing her music to bring smiles to everyone. But she just couldn't bring herself to play at the orphanage. Music would make them happy for a while, but what she really wanted to do was buy them all presents and she just couldn't afford to do that. So she avoided the temptation. Except this year she let herself be talked into coming for a visit when one of the caretakers saw her in concert. Then after she performed for the kids, she couldn't stay away! But finals were coming up and today was the last day she was planning to volunteer. She needed to study.

Today she was just watching the kids play with some of the kid-friendly instruments she'd brought for them to explore and experiment with. Over the week she'd been here, Verona had thought many times about adopting one of them to teach and take care of. But she was still a student. She didn't have time for that and her studies. Did she? She had all day classes and a freshling would be at the Academy all day, too. Well, she kept an eye out while she volunteered anyway, just in case she clicked with one of the kids. But so far it was looking like she wouldn't be adopting.

One of the kids with a homemade drum came up to her. Verona smiled and answered all the questions the little one had about how drums were made and how they worked. She talked to the freshling about the different kinds of classes available at Grendel and what the freshling wanted to do when they grew up. They seemed to have a genuine love of music and a curiousity to how instruments worked and how they were made. Verona had such a good time talking to them that she was disappointed when it was time to go.

On her way home, Verona gave some thought to adopting, perhaps even the musical freshling she talked to, but soon remembered all the work she had left to do at home. Papers and projects she still had to finish. She didn't have time for a child. Maybe next year... And yet she couldn't quite shake the idea from her mind. She knew other Nightmares balanced kids and school, maybe she could too? Maybe...

Later that evening, once she had finished her homework for the night, Verona again thought about adopting. She was sure she could figure out how to juggle everything. If not, there was always the internet right? With that thought in her mind, she sat down and wrote a letter to the director of the orphanage that she would take with her tomorrow.

Prompt 1:•Something has caused you to be volunteering for the orphanage for about the last week, and today is the last day you planned on volunteering.
Prompt 2:•You take notice of a child at the coloring table and join them in their artistic endeavors.
Prompt 3:•You run into a child sitting in the waiting room that wasn't in the play room.

RP Response:The cards had brought her here, and while Monroe was not of a mind that such a thing could tell the future, Marilyn did believe that what brought her here did have a cleansing effect as well as making the world just a bit better. As a mutated Daydream, they both believed to get out and have everyone become use to their looks. To make themselves known, and part of that was doing charitable works. So they found themselves at the orphanage volunteering for the week near the holidays.

She made her way around the orphanage before joining a young nightmare at the coloring table, settling in and when prompted offered Monroe the blue crayon. “That looks lovely.” She remarked, taking a piece of paper and slid it to Monroe, letting the tail color before taking her own.

She started to sketch some of her favorite things, mostly fashion design, with an eye towards vintage but occasionally more festive things, baubles and ornaments mainly. She smiled nodding to the questions and answering what she could. Yes, orange and blue went together. She liked hexagons as well, though they were very difficult to drawn, and probably more of a cat person then a dog, though don’t tell Monroe. That was a lovely drawing and very festive. They finished drawling and waved good bye to the child, feeling rather good about this. It had been a good day.

Marilyn went to leave and paused, stopping to take in a child sitting in the waiting room. “Hey, honey. Having a good day?” She talked with them a bit, getting to know them till it did become time for her to go. “Later, hun. Best of luck.” She called, waving as she left.

It had been a good day and perhaps she could write a letter putting their name forward for an adopted parent. Monroe was mostly in agreement though. They could balance a child with their job and college classes.
