((Takes place sometime after Alpha))
It had taken him some time after the events of his reunion with Adamantine for the gravity of the situation to settle. Most of the night had passed by in a blur and when he had finally made it back to the Black's large home, Chase had blood crusted beneath his nails and the taste of rust in his mouth.
From what he could tell the house was empty, outside of the pitter-patter of cat paws scurrying across the levels of the house, animals awoken by the sound of his heavy foot steps while he climbed up the stairs to the second level where his bedroom waited. His muscles were sore as they often were, he'd been exerting himself more and more.
Limits were not something Chase was familiar with any longer and he pushed and pushed until he couldn't.
It wasn't until he'd gotten to his bedroom, bed empty for one of the first nights in a while, and sat upon the bed that he was able to properly remember the events of the night mere hours before.
Adamantine had found him and he ********," he groaned, resting his elbows on his knees and putting his face in his hands.
Of course Prissy wouldn't be home, she was probably tending to his ******** mess.

It was an awesome night. Bitchy Prissy wasn't in the house! Silk was practically prancing about the manor. Not only that, but the night got even better when he heard the heavy footsteps of Chase. The kitten booked his way out of the kitchen and pretty much sailed up the stairs and down the halls towards his person's room. "Chaaaaase!" Silk yowled excitedly in greeting, rounding the corner and even performing one of those little excited kitten hops into the room to express his delight. The feeling was incredibly short lived though. As soon as Silk's paws touched the floor within Chase's room, everything got heavy. It was the atmosphere, much less the appearance of the man who was seated upon his bed, looking not very Chase like. The kitten's eyes widened as he stared at the man, and his tail, which had been up prior, started to droop. "...Chase?" He asked. "What's wrong?" Because there was definitely something very wrong. Nuxaz and 10 years later I remember to check Gaia fjwkejfew THANK YOU! <3

He could hear the excited call of his cat, the chaos one and not the ordinary one that'd been left to him years ago with the death of it's owners, and yet it did nothing to his mood. He stay where he was seated, rubbing his face until the kitten had pranced in.
Slowly, his hands dropped and his gaze traveled across the ground until it lifted to meet the widened, worried, stare of his mauvian.
"Do you remember," he started, voice rough and gravely, "how I stated it was too soon, too dangerous for me to find Adamantine?" Were it someone other than Silk he might have been more hesitant to admit his own follies, but they had talked about this and he had promised his mauvian that he would do better.
He couldn't keep everyone in the dark after all.
They would all find out eventually, he was certain, but he needed to grasp control where he could as he struggled to overcome the beast.
"She found me. It did not end well." lucyal bless, Silk with Laby is the cutest

Silk wasn't sure if his eyes could get anymore wide, but they somehow managed. His pupils were incredibly minuscule as well as he listened. The kitten's mouth felt oddly dry, and he opened his mouth to speak, but nothing came out for the moment. His little mind was frazzled as it jumped to very awful assumptions. Chase. His tone, his words, his posture, his attitude. Not to mention his clothes and appearance. Not only could he see the blood, he could smell it too. "Y-you didn't KILL HER, did you!?" He finally managed to yowl in a panic, his tone laced with every inch of disbelief he felt. Sure, he didn't get to know Adamantine that well yet, but really, out of the entire team so far he actually liked her. If Chase was going to snap, it should be on Prissy! Nuxaz I DO TAKE GREAT DELIGHT THAT SILK GETS A SOFTER AND MORE HONEST SIDE OF CHASE : D <3

The bed sagged beneath Chase's weight as he slid off of it and onto the floor. Legs folded beneath one another and he patted his lap, expecting Silk to come settle in it as he often did.
The kitten's horrified exclaim, however, had him sighing more heavily than he'd like.
"She's alive." He knew that much, but he didn't know how she fared otherwise. "Dia came to her aid." Part of him was almost humiliated at the simple fact that he couldn't control himself around his.
It seemed that there were no exceptions to the hunger that drove the creature that had fostered a home in his core as a result of his time among the youma.
"Had she not come, I fear the worst would have happened." As much as he hated to admit it, it was the truth of the matter. His little star was not strong enough to even hold him off properly nor did she hold the power to teleport, a safety that was needed when around him these days.
"She is not strong enough to handle me like this." And he wasn't strong enough to resist.

The kitten's body visibly relaxed as the man confirmed that the senshi was still alive. His little nose couldn't help but wrinkle distastefully at the mention of Dia, but if she had to be there for Adamantine to pull through...then yeah. Now that Chase wasn't a confirmed team killer, Silk's tail flicked again with life and he quickly sauntered across the floor to make the small hop onto Chase's lap. He didn't lay down just yet though, and instead sat, facing his human. "Yeah..." He replied, his eyes lidding and brows furrowing in worry about the situation. "Chase...what triggers you, huh? What is it about senshi that makes you do that? You didn't before so...you know. If this is gonna keep happening then...there's no point in having a team right now." That seemed like common sense.

It was reassuring to have Silk climb into his lap, even if he didn't settle down completely. It meant that things were still fine and that despite his follies, he still had his loyal cat along side his surprisingly patient girlfriend. Hopefully the rest would come back together and he would be able to re-anchor himself sooner rather than later.
"While I was gone, I spent a long time with youma." Six months, if he had counted the days correctly. Someone had kept the paper with his mother's obituary for him and it had the date stamped into his memory. He'd never forget, just like he would never forget the date of Samuel's death.
Another passing caused by his own hands, except nothing hurt quite the way losing his mother had.
"It appears that while they did not overtake me, they imprinted upon me. I feel their hunger for the senshi, traitors or otherwise. Some days it's like trying to pass through the hall of shadows with a senshi of ours. The hands always grasping and reaching, barely held back." His teeth grit together. "Some days I am in complete control, others..." He trailed off.
"I need them, mine. Ours. Alkaid is gone, doing whatever it is she does when she is away and without her I am less tethered to things. I need the pack bond to keep me grounded." Or part of it.
"I don't know how to solve the problem, presently. But I'm working on it. For now...for now we can focus on the things I can control." Which wasn't as much as he liked. "I think it's time for little star to gain her upgrade, but I need your help for that."

Silk's tail flicked with annoyance as Chase explained, and flicked more rapidly the longer the explanation went on. It wasn't that he was annoyed with Chase, but the circumstances and consequences of the actions. "You know....this really SUCKS." His eyes narrowed in displeasure, and his head seemed to sink into the fluff pulled around his neck. "Because...you know...you need them, but if you're around them, you might attack them so...it's a catch forty-three right!?" He totally messed up that saying, but he had heard it in passing and it seemed to fit. He frowned in his fluff though. He had never seen Chase like this...in a situation where he wasn't in complete and utter 110% control. That kind of worried him...but Chase telling him what's up made the kitten feel apart of things too, and ready to step up to the plate to do whatever the man needed to get back on his feet again. That's what being a team meant, right? Was this what it was like to be friends? Silk was pondering this as Chase talked about an upgrade. "Huh?" He blinked, staring at the man blankly for a moment before it clicked. "Oh! Yeah---Adamantine needs an upgrade? Yeah! Of course I can do that!" A very long pause. "...I haven't upgraded a senshi before." The kitten sulkily admitted, staring off to the side and his ears folding a bit back. Actually, talking about senshi made him think about that talk he recently had with his sister about what they should be doing as Chaos Guardians and apparently needing to be bonded with senshi... "But I'll figure it out!" He told Chase loudly, because he didn't want him to think he was incompetent, not when he needed support! "I gave a senshi her pen once and even though I hadn't done that before it came like breathing air!"

Fingers scratched at the carpet beneath them, Chase needing to do something with his hands as his kitten talked. There were hints of a smile that curled his mouth when he tried to use some off-handed statement. "Catch-22," he corrected, then nodded.
"It's difficult, but at least Dia is of a level that can hold me back to a degree." Long enough to get away or for someone else to come. Chase wondered if they worked together, if they could beat him until he dropped. Then, he hoped it would never come to that but...they needed contingency plans until he recovered. Or settled into a new, manageable Chase.
His gut told him that he would never be free of the rattling cage in his chest, but things would get better. He could settle for better.
Carefully, he reached to gently scratched Silk's head behind his ears. For the most part, cats were not his thing, but Silk was the exception. The exception to many things, actually. "That's okay, we'll figure it out together." In truth, he didn't know what was required besides a general-sovereign. "I think some paperwork needs to be filled out," he paused, brow furrowing as he tried to think about it.
Then, he realized he had never personally seen a senshi promote in the negaverse. A first for both of them, then.
"I'll have to talk to her, or try. Meanwhile, find out what we need to do. If there's paperwork, I'll fill it out for you but this is the first step to working to solve the issue."

"Catch twenty-WHAT?" Silk gave Chase a look like he was pulling his leg, but as the man's fingers reached to scratch his ears, the kitten eased out of his fluff. Silk leaned into the attention, his eyes now lidding with content. He seemed much more at ease when Chase wasn't disappointed, and he even felt boosted when the man said they'd do it together. "...Paperwork?" He asked, flatly. Because he REALLY COULDN'T BELIEVE there was PAPERWORK!? "Yeah! I'll go ask..." Silk trailed off for a moment, trying to think about who he could ask. Bob came to mind first, because the tom cat seemed to get around, and also because Lace had mentioned that he was rather knowledgeable as well. Yeah. "Okay. I got a plan. I'll go find out tomorrow and I'll get back to you!"

"Catch Twenty-Two," Chase repeated, slowing down so Silk would be able to keep up. Though, the silly phrase didn't matter they both understood the point of using it.
"I told you, I'll handle the paperwork and you can do your mauvian thing." He didn't know what that entailed when it came to promoting senshi. He hadn't been around for Dia's nor Alkaid's, though, her situation had been unique.
He offered a tired smile to his cat, continuing to provide him with proper scritches as tribute. "Between you and I, we can figure anything out." He didn't know how much truth there was to that statement, but he believed, in that moment at least, they were capable of handling anything as long as the team stuck together.
"You find out and we'll come up with a plan. I'll...try to talk to Regan in the meantime." That wasn't something he was looking forward to but it needed to be done.

And he truly believed that. Between Chase and himself, they could do anything, and with how much faith Chase placed in him, it made the kitten want to do better and be better. He needed to be as useful and bring as much to the team as he could. After all, while Chase may have been the leader, Silk was the guardian! "OK! I will go and find out first thing tomorrow!" Now that things had come to a resolution (for him anyways), the kitten was now fully at ease. He melted into a loaf on Chase's lap, and started to purr lightly. As he settled, though, the thought of talking to Regan himself as well came to mind, and he mentally added it to his to-do list for the next day. After all...he was the team's guardian...
