Mind behind the Character: Julian Galaksylph
Name: Wolfgang Byron Noxflick
Gender: Male
Orientation: Bi
Heritage: Probably Welsh
Language Spoken: English, Welsh
Age: 500s (physically-wise, 26)
Personality:
Friendly and courteous as he might be, Wolfgang has difficulty in trusting people and while he doesn't keep them in arm's length he always tries to keep himself as secretive and cunning as possible. He believed that if one becomes open to someone, it would be something people would take advantage of. Wolfgang was always wary of what people would want to him or anyone he cared about, afraid of the concept of outright manipulation for the wrong means. This made him very self-aware to different kinds of manipulation, but it does make him paranoid. However, for a sorcerer who favored Shadow Magic most of the time, Wolfgang is actually a warm-hearted individual with the best intentions. If he was sure that the person does have a good heart, Wolfgang would be altruistic with his resources and help them when he can. And if you win your trust on him, he would be a caring, protective, and affectionate man. However, if you betray him or anyone close to him, he would feel very self-destructive about it while also being vindictive to the person responsible.
History: Wolfgang was technically born in a certain secluded Netherworld realm with his mother and father. The realm was struggling between light and shadows- but most of the time it was so well-lit that it was very hard to hide-- no secrets to keep. His parents' relationship are not even stable to begin with, in fact they were only bonded out of Edric's manipulation and Meinwen's old fear to break off the bond. So, the boy grew up being aware that his parents were resentful at best- but he did knew that his mother loved him. His father however, was so stuck up in the ways of his old self-righteous light-using family, wanting his son Wolfgang to be shaped in his image and that was all he could do.
Growing up, his father taught him the ways of light magic; making tricks with the light, lasers, being invisible, and the like. His mother, on the other hand, would teach him shadow magic: night vision, umbrakinesis, and the ways of hiding in the shadows. The training felt so long and timeless until during his "early adolescence", he witnessed his parents fighting. Yes, a heated battle before two magical beings. His mother apparently had enough of his tricks and his mistreatment over her, but of course she didn't go unpunished . Either way, even if she was scarred, she won the fight and took Wolfgang with her and escaped to the human world, like she always dreamed of.
Wolfgang was like a fish out of water when he entered the human world: there was a concept of time, everything is finite, not everyone was immortal, and everything changes from time to time. It's like chaos, but the good kind- and Wolfgang liked being in the Human World. The two of them decided to settle first in Wales, until Meinwen heard the news of Death City being more tolerant to their kind. So, they moved there and Wolfgang was enrolled to DMA so that he could have a social life- while Meinwen decided to be a barista in a nearby coffee shop with the same reason. With DMA, he was able to fit in nicely and Wolfgang has grown better than what he used to be back in the Netherworld. He made lots of friends and have good grades to boot, but Wolfgang found his true passion in music.
By the time he graduated, Wolfgang lived with his mother for a while to help her. One of those times was meeting his mother's girlfriend Rhiannon, or just Rhian. Wolfgang was pretty much keeping Rhian in arms length and being downright suspicious of what she could do to Meinwen. Sometimes, it would come to the point that he and his mother would butt heads and resent each other. That was until Edric came in and was on the hunt for Wolfgang in Death City, also making him one of the targeted witches DWMA has.
One day, Wolfgang was on his way home from the library when he was ambushed by his father, and it was an ugly fight. His father was clearly stronger than him, leaving Wolfgang gravely wounded. Edric was about to put the last strike until Rhiannon intervened. There was enough time given to fight against Edric until a meister and their weapon finally came in and struck down Edric before Wolfgang's eyes. The son should have feel bad or hold anything against the DMA, but he didn't. Wolfgang instead felt like his father deserved it, and simply gave a terse thanks to the DWMA students before leaving home with Rhian. On the other hand, Wolfgang has earned so much respect for Rhiannon- deciding to trust her ever since after proving that maybe she did have the best intentions.
----General Information----
Race: Sorcerer
Family :
- Meinwen Lynn Noxflick (mother) - Meinwen taught Wolfgang everything he knew- down from continuing magical lessons to important morals. If it weren't because of her, Wolfgang could have gone to the very dark road like his father before him.
- Edric Snowfair (father) - The relationship between Wolfgang and his father Edric was resentful at best and destructive at worst. Wolfgang hates his father for his mistreatment of Meinwen, as well as being stuck to the old ways and contributing to the reason why DWMA used to hate them. So, when Edric did get killed by an unnamed Meister-and-Weapon, Wolfgang came to the point of saying that Edric deserved it- clearly saying that Wolfgang ran out of sympathies to give.
- Rhiannon Elinor Llewellyn (stepmother) - Rhiannon is a fellow owl witch who works in a bookstore, also Meinwen's new wife. Wolfgang actually was very skeptical of Rhiannon in fear that she might betray Meinwen at first, but after Rhiannon saved Wolfgang's life from Edric- he has warmed up to her ever since and gave her the blessing to let her be with Meinwen. Honestly, it probably took about 20 years before Rhiannon finally got it but. It's not like witches and sorcerers can keep track of time.
Soul Protect: Activated
Grimoire: Wolfgang jokingly calls this his Llyfr lampau, a grimoire he and his mother created for every spell he either created or learned. It has been with him for the long run.
DMA: Graduated
----Abilities and Techniques Information----
Shadow Walking
- This is Wolfgang's favorite technique of magic, while his body can "melt" into the shadow and hide there, he can also use it as means for transportation. With this ability he could transport himself from one place to another as well as being away from the naked eyes as he hides in someone else's shadow, and boy did he get to enjoy it at nighttime. He goes into this by being on contact with his grimoire and his shadow, and can only travel alongside walls and flooring.
- However, excessive use of it as well as using it for very long distances would give him a grave case of fatigue, and rest will be required for him.
Light Energy Absorption
- Wolfgang has the ability to "create darkness" by removing light, as darkness was the absence of light. He can gather sources of light and absorb it to his grimoire like that of a mini harmless black hole, for later use, but he cannot destroy it as light is a form of energy.
Camouflage
- It's pretty much hard to tell if it's shadow magic or light, but either way it makes Wolfgang blend in the crowd. He turns invisible for the maximum of 5 posts if uninterrupted, and he could only reuse the ability three times. He can still be touched by material things as well, so Wolfgang will have to be very careful with his use. Magic with anti-invisibility or anything equivalent to it can also nullify this ability.
Umbra Construction
- Wolfgang can bend an existing shadow, including his own, to create tendrils and anything to his liking. He had to make contact with said shadow so his strategy was to manipulate his own shadow to connect with another, and with that he could manipulate it without having to go there. The big weakness in this was the light, as it could either extinguish the shadows or turn it to another direction.
Light Bending
- It's not as strong as it used to be, but it was still useful for him to hold for himself. While yes, he cannot create light and he could only absorb it- but he can refract the light from existing light sources (i.e lamps, fire, sunlight)
Light Barrier
- Wolfgang creates a illuminating barrier in any size he wanted to create, acting as a spherical shield against natural elements and the like. It's definitely not good for stealth as it was very flashy and he'll need the lights he gathered inside his grimoire to create one. The strength of the shield depends on his physical health, strength, and willpower.
Nightvision
- Wolfgang is gifted with night vision, and he was able to see the dark very well that he didn't feel the need to have a lamp. However, he could only activated this, otherwise he couldn't do anything in the dark.
