Profile:
Seren is a small, scared child. She was recently rescued from some extremely abusive parents, and brought to the academy for safe keeping. Her emotional health is fragile, and she doesn't know who to trust. She has a tendency to want to be friends with people, but is very scared of letting them in.
Her parents regularly informed her she was a curse, and actually beat her. She has scars and healing wounds on her back, which she tries to hide from everyone. She is convinced that she would be hated by everyone if they knew she was like this, or agree with her parents.
She was clutching a stone when they were rescued, one that her parents had imbued, supposedly to be the GOOD child, the one she was supposed to be but somehow failed to be. She doesn't know why she failed them so badly, though.
Strengths:
Determined - She is a willful little girl. Once she gets things into her head as something she needs to do, she will see it through. It's part of what kept her going strong the entire time, despite the abuse.
Loving - Once some one gets into her heart, she will love them purely and strongly. She will do a great deal to protect the ones she loves, in fact.
Gentle - She is very gentle, careful with the fragilest hearts and people, and things too. She just wants to help them.
Loves Stars - She is SUPER fond of the stars. Like she wants to be someone who studies stars when she grows up. She just doesn't know what that's called.
Faults:
Insecure - Being told she was a curse all of her life up until now has left her very insecure, convinced she is a worthless person, and that if she loves or cares for some one, she will harm them
Self-Sacrificing - Because of her insecurity, she is constantly willing to put herself forwards, to do things for others, or fight for them, throwing herself into danger for them, to a point that can be detrimental to her own safety.
Scared of the World - Seren is truly scared of the world, because of how her parents treated her. She is afraid any little thing she does will mean that some one will get mad at her, and start hitting her.
RP Prompt:
Quote:
A smart-mouthed peer just told your Nightmare that they're a failure to their race. How do they react?
Seren was sitting, quietly, reading as her ears kept a listen in case some one came near her. She was curled up in a chair in the library, a big book about the constellations in her lap. She was pretty engrossed in her book, but she'd noticed there were some not very nice kids in the area, and she wasn't going to risk that they might decide to hurt her book, or herself either. She had been here awhile, though, and no one bothered her as yet, so she started to settle in and really get into her book now.
Predictably, this was the moment when a large bakeneko boy decided to come over and stared down at her. Seren was focused on her book, and didn't notice the bigger child until, apparently it was far too late. The boy made an annoyed hissing noise when she didn't immediately look up at him to see what he wanted, and then snatched the book out of her hands. Seren let it go with a shocked cry, not wanting to risk damaging the book, but wanting it back very much. "What... Why did you do that?" She said, staring up at the boy, her eyes beginning to fill with tears. The pure neko stared at her, and slammed the book closed and onto the table, sneering at her. "You're such a whiney brat, little girl. Always hiding behind the skirts and pants of the teachers, scared of everything. What in the name of the Below do you actually think you're doing here? Do you actually think you'll be worth the time of our teachers, or could do something of use to anyone?"
Seren was cringing back in her chair, the small hybrid scared of the big boy. The tears that had filled her eyes were beginning to spill, and she sniffled a little, trying to wipe them away with her sleeve. The boy made a sneering snort. "You are so WORTHLESS. A complete failure to both of the races you represent, but most especially for us Bakeneko. Total failure."
That did it. That completely did it. Little Seren bolted out of her chair, tears pouring down her small face, as she ran out of the library, her body shaking with the hurt she was feeling. It was bad enough when her parents had told her she was worthless and a failure to them... Now some one she didn't even know was saying that to her. Her parents must be right! She was a terrible child, a curse, and no one wanted her around. She somehow found her way back to her room, still sobbing and crying. She managed to get inside, and threw herself on the bed, crying her small heart out. She had been told when she came here that no one would hurt her and she'd have friends. Instead, she was just being told what she already knew by some one of her mother's race, so clearly they knew better then she did.
She was a horrible failure. What good could she be?
