Ever since Oberon had mentioned that Chara had had his starseed pumped with chaos energy, Ptolemaeus had been out searching for him. The last time he had encountered the sailor scout of chocolate, the White Moon Senshi had been attempting to strangle a civilian to death. Though Ptolemy had been concerned about Chara's abrupt change in personality and morals, Chara had told him to stay away. In an effort to keep from aggravating the Order being, especially because he didn't yet know why he was acting the way he was and he didn't want to make things worse, the Dark Mirror Senshi did as he was asked.
After having asked around a bit, though, Ptolemy discovered from Oberon the reason that Chara had been acting so strangely. Once he knew the cause, he felt more confident in going after the younger teen if only to make sure he hadn't gotten any worse in regards to his corruption. That seemed a whole lot more important than keeping his distance just because Chara wanted him to, so he decided it was worth the risk of his anger to seek him out after all.
The rooftops seemed the best place to start since roof-hopping eliminated most foot traffic and being up higher had the added advantage of seeing more down below. The last few times Ptolemy and Chara had met had all been around the same area neighborhood-wise, so it didn't take too long to discover the Order energy signature and identify it as the very senshi he had been looking for. It seemed like Chara appreciated the rooftops, too.
"Kisses!" the taller senshi called, cupping his hands over his mouth as he came closer. At last he touched down on the building that was his destination. At least his energy signature seemed fine, but Ptolemy had no way of knowing for sure if that meant everything was fine. Perhaps he was just bad at sensing whatever chaos might have been mingling with it because his own energy signature was saturated with it. "Are you...alright?"Kapoodles ((I can't think of a name. XP Let me know if you can think of one or we can come up with one after.))

Things were rather quiet this evening while Chara patrolled his normal area of the city and strangely, he did not mind. Normally he was a ball of agitation, quick to attack, quick to react without warning and most of the time it was negative, but today, well... He felt calm.
It took a long time for all the chaos in his chest to fade away, but it did, and it left him tired and sad for a long time, making it feel like he almost missed that rage and pain he felt for so long. He had been used to it all, but in the end that didn't matter, for he was once again Chaos free and feeling like he owed some apologizes to some people. And he wasn't really looking to delay them either, what with the LAST time he put off saying sorry ending up in blood. Naw, he really wasn't looking to wait that long at all.
There was no coincidence that he ended up on the rooftop that he and Ptolemaeus had once frequented. Part of the young senshi truly missed his sometimes friend sometimes target for murder. There was always something entirely comforting about Ptolemy that happened to be one of the few things that helped him control his rage those few times he had lost it before him. At the same time, when he DID get mad, it was often Ptolemy's fault in the first place...
Still, he wanted to apologize to him, but there was no telling when he'd see the other... Except that just as if the other knew he was looking for him, he heard that awful nick name called out to him, causing him to turn to face the approaching member of Chaos.
"I thought I told you not to call me that." Chara replied at first, arms folded across his chest, but there was no sound of irritability from him. It was just a statement, one that he felt so familiar in saying that he almost smiled at it.
"I'm fine... I am, really. Are you alright? It's uh... It's been a while, hasn't it?" What first felt easy suddenly became hard, and the Super Senshi had no idea on what to say... ********... "I heard you talked to Oberon..."

"Well, y'know...old habits," the Dark Mirror Sensei answered, grinning as he approached. "Are you? Not drugged up, right?" He tilted his head. "You seem way more subdued than usual."
He ran a hand through his hair, pushing back his hood in the process. "Yeah, I'm good! I was worrying about you for a bit, there, though. After that whole fiasco with that kid named Jack...whom you seem to know?" Chuckling, he continued, "I happen to know him too, along with the fact that he can be a bit of a pain in the a**. I just didn't know he was obnoxious enough to provoke someone into literally trying to strangle him." Not as a civilian, at least.
Raising his brows at the mention of Oberon, Ptolemy looked momentarily surprised before laughing. "Yeah...he actually punched me on your behalf. Good thing I'm used to taking punishment, huh? Hehehe...seems like a true friend." He seated himself and crossed his legs. "I told him what had happened between us and that I was trying to find out what had made you act like you did toward a civilian. That's when he mentioned that you'd been corrupted by chaotic energy."

"Drugged up, what?" It took a moment for Chara to actually figure out what the other meant, and when he did, he shrugged. "Just not angry, I guess. I mean, I'm always angry but I'm tired, angry. I don't want to fight. Weird huh? I guess that means things are going okay for once."
As he listened to Ptolemy express his concerns and mention what had happened, he walked a little closer to him, taking a seat beside him. Unlike most other times where he would immediately seek out Ptolemy's touch, Chara made sure to sit an arms length away from the man, unsure if he really wanted to get close to him again. He wasn't sure at all if he even still trusted the man after that incident on Valentine's Day which still felt fresh in his mind. Strangely enough, the events with Jack... It was a fog, as if he wasn't looking directly through his own eyes when that happened, but rather floating above it all, observing it all as it happened without being able to stop it.
"Yeah, that kid Jack. He's an a*****e. I tried to help him before, and he threw a pissy fit... Then I tried again, as Chara, not as the real me, and the b*****d tried to get me killed by them. I don't know why, but I just snapped. I wanted to kill him so badly for being such an a*****e, and I couldn't help but think to myself, 'hey, the world would be better off without him. I wouldn't feel so betrayed and hurt if he were to just die.' And yeah, sure I've had that thought once or twice before but never acted on it. It musta been the chaos that let me give into that urge..." He paused, looking a little nervous for a moment at the thought of even having partially enjoyed being so uninhibited... But then it passed and he pulled his legs up to his chest, leaning his chin against his knees.
"Oberon... He's really good to me. The best friend I've ever had, which isn't saying much but that's because I've never had any real friends before. Not like him. And he does so much for me. He talks to me and spends the night with me when I need him and I'm sure if I asked, he'd be alright with me never leaving his side. I almost feel like we're partners in this life of senshi. And this boy wants to give me the world and spoil me and it's ******** weird!" A soft, bitter tinged laugh rang out between them.
"Single guess as to what happened... If you guessed I fell for him, you'd be right... And guess what he said? s**t I guess I just have a weakness for people being nice to me... Ah well.." It came off as pretty obvious that Chara had alot to get off his chest, and once he started talking, he couldn't seem to stop. It kept going and going, but he wasn't sad, nor angry, just sort of contemplative. But he seemed almost reluctant to keep talking about the chaos itself, the true issue that had been plaguing him for a few months. Part of him didn't want to admit it had happened at all.
"Besides stalking me around and saving assholes from getting their a** kicked, what have you been up to?"

Ptolemaeus snickered softly at the mention that Chara was always angry. "Maybe. And maybe it means you're maturing in a way, being able to see beyond your anger." Since before Chara seemed to be angry at just about everything, Ptolemy doubted his subdued state now had resulted because nothing was wrong and all was going well in his life. It seemed more likely that the senshi of chocolate had simply learned to view things from a new perspective.
He watched the shorter male come closer - but not too close - and sit about an arm's length away from him. Though he made note of this mentally, he chose not to comment on it aloud and instead concentrated on Chara's expression and words.
"Oh...you met him as a civilian?" Ptolemy asked, sounding surprised. But he recalled that Jack had mentioned that Chara had made it a point to call him by his name as if to hint their connection beyond his powered self. Perhaps the corrupted Chara had been so affronted by Jack's ingratitude that he wanted to spite him with the mystery of said connection.
"Huh...well, I know we all give into our urges sometimes, but with an urge that serious, it must have been really messing with your head to get you to go against your own morals." He smiled in what he hoped was a consoling manner. "At least you're both alright and you seem better now, though. Did you have to do anything to dissipate the chaos?"
Listening to Chara speak of Oberon, he smiled and leaned back on an arm. Perhaps Oberon was the reason Chara had matured or at least managed to conquer whatever corruption his starseed had undergone. Ptolemy continued to keep quiet until the golden-eyed young man was finished and had asked him a question in turn.
"I'm glad you had Oberon to see you through so much, then," he said, glad Chara hadn't been alone while he had tried to do as he'd been asked after the incident with Jack and stayed away. "As for what I've been up to...nothing I figure you'd be interested in." He shrugged lightly before propping himself up on his second arm as well. "Just been trying to find out more about my court."

"Uh huh...." Was all Chara said in regards to most of Ptolemy's statements, giving them a bit of thought but finding none of them really worth responding to. After all, he didn't really want a lecture about anything Ptolemy had to say, and it always seemed that once the other started, he kept going and going and they spoke in so many circles that Chara just ended up dizzy.
Not today. He really didn't have the strength to deal with that.
"The Chaos kinda left on it's own after a while. Something about my starseed's strength being much stronger than the amount of chaos in my chest. Just kinda purified it over time, but when it was there, I swear it was driving me nuts! I promise you though, I'm not going to fly off the handle like I did with Jack. I'm not like that, it's not me. I mean, sure, maybe I'll punch him as a civ again, but not like this." For some reason, Chara really wanted Ptolemy to believe him when he said that, even if he didn't fully believe it himself. Maybe it was because Chara finally started to believe that changing isn't always a bad thing. And if he could change, maybe the man he had once found himself loving so deeply would change one day too.
Another moment passed as he muttered something softly to himself, something along the lines of 'that's really not me...' before he managed to look over to Ptolemy once again, relaxing a little bit as he saw the smile. It was a comforting sight, one that didn't feel like it was judging him at all... And maybe, just a little bit, he missed it.
"Did you learn anything new? Anything you can share anyway I'm uh... I'm here to listen if you want to talk."

"Oh. That's cool," he commented, not having realized that starseeds could eventually purify themselves. It sounded like a body's immune system eventually getting rid of a cold.
Chara's assurance, however, made him laugh again; a light-hearted sound. "No worries, cupcake. I knew even then that that wasn't you. That's why when I found you that way, I tried to remind you of what you said to me - the real you who I know wouldn't have done such a thing."
He sneered. "Jack's probably going to be racking his brains forever over why you knew his name, though. He solves riddles as a hobby and you just gave him a pretty big one. You may have just condemned him to a worse fate than strangling, to be honest, because I doubt he's ever going to figure that one out."
Looking mildly astonished at Chara's offer to listen if he wanted to talk, Ptolemy grinned, leaning forward off of his arms so he could scratch the back of his neck. "Thanks, kiddo. Not much to talk about, though. Just that we found these weird, colored crystals in Mirrorspace that have all different properties and none of us seem to really know what they're for or what they can do yet."
He paused, looking thoughtful. "I'm also trying to find out more about the Dark Mirror Court from people other than just our royal. It seems like there are White Moon Senshi that were there to witness its creation, so now that I'm a little stronger, I want to see if I can track them down and ask them about it. That's all, really." The tattooed teen beamed and waved a hand.

"Don't call me cupcake, I ain't sweet like that... Just stick with kisses, got it?" He couldn't help but smile a little over the new, but disliked nick name, and reached over between the two of them to give the other a little shove. Nothing violent, just playful, and he took it as a reason to scoot a little closer... Just in case he had to 'lash out' again for bad nick names.
"I'll keep it a secret then. See him again, treat him sickeningly sweetly, all that s**t. then show up as Chara again and scare him, like boo! Promise I won't hurt him though." His own voice took on a teasing tone, not intending at all to fulfill what he said, but the thought was amusing enough."
"Dark mirror and Crystals, huh? Every goddamn thing in this world is about crystals and s**t like that. Good ones, bad ones.. Let's just assume that it's not going to be anything good, okay? Maybe if you have it, you should put it somewhere hidden and out of the way, so when the bad s**t does go down, atleast you're no where near it. Then, if it's something good... Well, you can go get it. As long as your safe. Maybe I can help you track down some info or something... Keep you safe from people like me who get all riled up and fight without talking. If they see me, then maybe they won't fight right away, and even if they do, then I can beat the s**t out of them." Chara turned his gaze back to his feet, willing his toes a little bit the more he thought about it. Ptolemy should stay safe. He was an a*****e, but he didn't deserve to get hurt... Not like that anyway. Not like anything that this world had to offer to kill him.
"Well, anyway... I was looking for you too... To apologize for the shitty things I've said and done to you and to kinda apologize for Oberon? I never thought the two of you would ever meet... I'm sorry I told him everything, I've just been holding it in for so long and he's the only friend I have. I couldn't lie to him..."

"Hehehe...alright, Your Majesty; whatever you say," he teased, chuckling as he was playfully shoved.
"Oh, damn, sadistic much? Haha, I guess I should already know that by now with how much you loved to burn me with your chocolates, though." Ptolemy unfolded his legs, raised a knee, and propped his elbow up on it so he could rest his cheek against his knuckles as he surveyed Chara with a soft smile. "Maybe I shouldn't have told you that after all. He's actually really paranoid when it comes to personal relationships. That's why he does his best not to get close to anyone or have friends."
Regarding the White Moon Senshi, he wondered the relationship between Jack and Chara's civilian self was. "You say you won't hurt him, but I think he'd rather be punched in the face or even strangled than be treated sweetly. You might end up hurting him without meaning to or realizing it because he just might be more fragile than you think."
At Chara's advice, Ptolemaeus threw back his head and laughed. "Kisses, don't worry about me. You've got enough on your plate. What's life without some element of danger, huh? I've made it this far without trying to play it safe and it's not really living if there's no chance of dying." He rested his cheek against his knuckles one more, casting Chara another fond smile. "It's not your job to keep me safe. I appreciate your concern, advice, and your offer of assistance, though."
"Hmm?" The Dark Mirror Senshi looked confused for a moment. "Oh, c'mon, Kisses. You know I don't take offense to any of that. Not from you or him. Usually I deserve all those shitty things anyway, so don't even sweat it. Oberon had every reason to be mad at me, too." He grinned again. "Besides, you didn't tell him everything. You couldn't have; you only know your side of the story. So I just filled him in on mine and let him make his own judgements."

"Are you saying I'm you're king then? Pfft, I doubt it, but if you want to worship the ground I walk on, I won't stop you." That earned a grin from Chara, and he laughed, just a little at the memory of what they used to do. "Damn... I was rough, wasn't I? I hope none of that left any real scars on you. But... If they still hurt, well, kisses make things better, right?"
He was teasing, and it felt great. Maybe it was possible for them to just be friends with one another without any underlying feelings. Surely that wouldn't be as awful as his imagination made it. He'd have to find out later.
"Fragile or not, he's a jerk. Atleast when I freak out and do terrible things, it has a reason behind it. He just wanted me hurt for the sake of hurting me. All I did was try to help and he ********... Ugh... I don't want to think about it any more." The very thought of Jack's stupid grin pissed him off, and he really really didn't want to feel as pissed off as he did right now. Made no sense to.
"You know I can't just not worry. Just like you worried for me, I worry for you... Your magic isn't fit for fighting, people will hurt you like I did and I don't want that to happen. It's not my job but... I still love you and I don't want you hurt." For his own comfort, he scooted over even more towards Ptolemy, close enough that he could rest his head against the other's shoulder... It was familiar and warm, and he wondered vaguely how long had it been since he felt this way... The feeling was different than when he was with Oberon. It was strong and tugged hard at his chest, suffocating him in a way as he could just imagine what Ptolemy's hands would feel like on him again, how his lips would feel against his own and how badly he wanted to feel all of that again.
But he didn't, and the moment that he leaned against the Dark Mirror Senshi passed as he sat back up again. "Anyway.. Yeah.. I guess that's all really. I'm sure you got all sorts of crazy s**t to go deal with so I won't take up any more of your time. I'm happy I got to see you, even if your ******** grin is still as cheeky as ever."
A huge part of him didn't want Ptolemaeus to leave but maybe it was for the best. He didn't need those awful feelings to start weighing heavily on him again. It took months to break off that dependency he had developed for the other, and he was finally feeling free.. At the same time... Damn, he wanted it.

Ptolemy cast Chara a coy smirk. "I was thinking 'princess' but close enough," he answered. "As for scars, I don't think so, but even if they did, I don't mind. I'll take the pain with the pleasure any day, but you're right - kisses do make things better. As long as they're not the chocolate sort."
The older male's brows furrowed. "Hurt you? I know he can be selfish and yeah, he may have tried to hurt you, but the Jack I know wouldn't have done it for the reason of only wanting to cause you pain. It's more likely he was trying to get you to stay away from him; possibly by getting you to dislike him because he seemed ungrateful. I think that's his defense mechanism to keep people from being nice to him." Which, if Chara was getting this worked up about discussing him when he wasn't even here, sounded like it was pretty successful. He stared hard at a particular point ahead of him in the distance. "I'll talk to him about it just to make sure, though. I wouldn't abide it if he really just wanted to hurt you."
Refocusing his dark eyes on the shorter senshi, they flickered with silent laughter yet again. "You say that past tense, but I'm still constantly worrying. I'm just trying to get better about trusting you to take care of yourself. Wow, I sound like a mom," he chuckled. "But you really don't have to worry about me. You've seen first hand that I can take a beating. I wouldn't say my magic isn't for fighting, exactly, especially since it's unpredictable and unpredictability can be a great advantage in a battle. It may not always be offensive or aggressive, but I can adapt and be resourceful, working with what I have. You just have to trust that I can."
When Chara scooted over, Ptolemy draped an affectionate arm across his shoulders as the younger teen leaned against him. The Dark Mirror Senshi, too, enjoyed the warmth and familiarity of their closeness. He opened his mouth for an instant to tell Chara he loved him too, but since he was unsure what kind of love the golden-eyed young man meant, he didn't want to confuse or exacerbate matters with the mention of his own. After a second or two, though, the Senshi of Chocolate sat back up and the Senshi of Change allowed his arm to fall from the other's shoulders.
"Hehehe...not as much crazy s**t as you've got, I'm sure. But thanks; I'm so glad I got to see you again, too, and that I got to make sure you're doing well." He winked and sneered at the comment about his grin. "I'll take that as a compliment."
Ptolemaeus, too, was sensing that if they stayed around each other much longer, there would probably be trouble. He knew better than to lead Chara on, but he got too lonely and enjoyed company and physical touch too much to trust himself to be able to resist if they got any more intimate than this. It was time to go.
He stretched out his legs and pushed himself up to stand, yawning once, before reaching out to ruffle the fluffy, light-and-dark hair of the White Moon Senshi. "You know how to find me if you ever need me, right? Or should I get you one of those burner phones so you can call me if you have to?"

Chara went quiet for a while, just listening and letting the man talk, fingers, tapping the ground beside him restlessly as he spoke. He wanted to take the other's hand, lace their fingers together, and just... Be content for a while. That wasn't too hard to ask for, right? He was being good, just like he said he would so why were things still so hard. Ptolemy's arms were warm and brought up old, sweet memories of their time spent together in sweet company and passionate moments but they were gone, and he knew they just couldn't go back to that way. It wasn't healthy, for either of them.
After another moment of lingering glances and a soft sigh, Chara rose to his feet, stretching and following the other for a moment, grinning at the hair ruffle and gazing longingly at Ptolemy's lips. They were so close... All he had to do was reach out... And he did.
There was no stopping it this time, not with just how badly he had missed the man... His fingers gently took the front of Ptolemaeus' fuku and pulled him down, giving him a soft peck that lingered for a moment. It was wrong... It was so damned wrong to love anyone like this.
"You know... I think I'd like that... To see you again, even if there isn't s**t going on between us... I still love you... And I want to know how you're doing, and if you're okay. Don't leave me wondering..."

Ptolemy's mind went blank when a kiss was stolen from him. It felt so good that he shut his eyes and leaned into it, forgetting for a moment everything else but the sensation of the contact between his kisser and him. Once it was broken, however, his senses returned to him and the revelation of what had just occurred caught up.
He knew he should have paid better attention to where Chara's eyes had been wandering; should have stopped him when he noticed the hand reaching out to grab the front of his top. The Dark Mirror Senshi had been so completely caught off-guard by the action, however, that he couldn't have anticipated what Chara had been about to do. He certainly hadn't had the strength of will to stop it once he started.
Now, though…what could he say? What could he do? He was so flabbergasted that words failed him for a time.
"Chara…after all I've done to you," he began, sounding perplexed and pained, "After the best friend you ever had punched me in the face and told me to stay away from you…why haven't you given up on me yet?"
He didn't want to see Chara hurt or upset; not again. Certainly not by his own words. But Ptolemy knew he had to speak now or it would only get worse later. "Everyone who cares about you knows you're only going to end up unhappier than ever this way. I love you, which is why I know that cutting ties with you completely is probably what's best for your well-being." Ptolemy took a deep breath. "But I'm also selfish, which is why I haven't yet.
"I had hoped we could still spend time together without this escalating any further…but if you keep making moves like this…" He hung his head, his hood obscuring his face. "Chara, please…don't make me have to burn bridges with you."
Though his expression was concealed, Ptolemy's hands trembled at his sides and he had to clench them into fists in order to restrain himself. He wanted so much to hold the White Moon Senshi close and tight, to indulge in the warmth of his embrace and provide what comfort he could. In the end, though, he knew it would only make it harder to let go and whatever solace he provided now could have only served to hurt Chara worse later.

What once felt like a sad sort of bliss and contentment quickly changed to worry as Ptolemy fell silent for a time. It was so strange seeing the man without his trademark grin, or some sort of laughter leaving his lips. He was so serious, and it made Chara nervous.. Had he messed up?
That pained sound of his voice seemed to take his heart and shred it to pieces, leaving them scattered all across the concrete below their feet.
"I am not sure.. I thought that maybe it was just a weird obsession, but it's not. It's something that I can't find the words for, like... s**t it's going to sound stupid, but it's like gravity. I just keep getting pulled towards you, and I guess somewhere inside, I don't see you as bad for me... I know bad things happen, and bad things probably could keep happening if we stay like this, but part of me keeps thinking that it will get better.." His hands came up again, this time hesitating before pushing the hood down from Ptolemy's head to better gaze at him, then shifting to gently stroke over the curled tattoo below his right eye with his thumb. Doing that felt so familiar, and Chara's heart broke a little more... He did this with Peter too...
Maybe it was true. Maybe he really wasn't destined to be with anyone. It seemed like the same ol' story over and over again. He'd fall, then he'd pine and when words of love and adoration was finally spoken, it was a no. He knew he was young, and he knew that there were plenty of other opportunities to find someone to love but ********, he grew tired of it... So, he'd make this his last time, to try to find something with Ptolemy...
"Well... If this is my last night with you... I want you to make it special... I don't think I can ever hold myself back with you. I tried, I tried so hard but I just can't... So if you really think it would be best to just call it quits, then I won't fight it.." He stepped closer, pressing himself against the other as his arms came up to hold him tight. "Just stay with me for one more night... Please."

When Chara pushed down his hood, he looked up, dark eyes inquisitive. He leaned in a little toward the thumb that stroked his cheek, closing his eyes. He thought he knew what the White Moon Senshi was talking about. Ptolemy had tried to make him hate him to prevent these particular feelings toward him by threatening to corrupt him before, but evidently that hadn't worked.
At the other sailor scout's request, however, Ptolemy's eyes opened again. His mouth followed suit. "…Is that all you want from me?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper. Raising his head, his expression became inscrutable. "…Is that all you think of my feelings for you?"
His body went rigid when Chara embraced him. Gently but firmly, he prised himself out of the other senshi's grasp. After a moment or two of gazing into Chara's golden eye, he turned his head away with a sigh. "I never said this was your last night with me, nor did I say I think it would be best to call it quits.
"I had hoped we could maintain a relationship other than lovers as you and Oberon have. But if you prefer one night over ever seeing or hearing from each other ever again, I will respect your wishes. On one condition." He held up his index finger and looked into the Senshi of Chocolate's face once more.
"We both know you're impulsive. In order to prevent you from committing an action you may end up regretting later, I propose this. Tonight, nothing will happen," he stated definitively. "You have until the next time we meet to consider your options.
"We can continue to keep in contact with one another as best we can within our separate factions as senshi, but keep our distance in terms of physical intimacy. Or," he continued gesturing vaguely, "I can spend one night with you however you want doing whatever you want. Come morning, we will part ways forever, each acting as though the other does not exist or that we've never before met." He stared into the depths of Chara's golden orb. "When we meet again, you will tell me which of these options you choose and we will proceed accordingly. Does that sound fair?"
He pulled his hood back over his head and face, turning his back to the other male as he gave him time to process the information. "My feelings aren't nothing," he said after a while. "They're not the same as yours, but it's still love. When you love someone, you want them to be happy." Ptolemy sighed again, stealing a glimpse out the corner of his eye.
"I would appreciate if you would give my feelings proper consideration before you make your final decision," he murmured, "But because I love you, I just want to do what I can to make you happy, Chara, regardless of what I feel. I will adhere to whatever you decide makes you happiest. So please do your best to make sure that, whichever option you choose, you won't regret it."
