Paru had grown up a quiet and reserved child. He was kind, considerate, and not overly ambitious. He liked to read, write poetry, and bake treats for his family. If it pleased others, it gave Paru immense joy and fulfillment. He knew he was built to serve, to tend to others and to make sure all felt safe, welcome, and loved. Paru always imagined that this trait was passed on to him from his father, Aten.
The two of them cooked together, packed lunches for the ever growing family, helped to arrange social dates, set up birthday parties, decorated ... Paru did all that he could to keep anyone from feeling left out or alienated. At times, he was not sure if it was enough. Especially when he saw the way Thema looked so unhappy in their family. Paru tried to give Thema extra attention, but Thema just seemed to be made worse by his attentions.
Paru did not see himself outside of his family. He viewed himself as a sort of eternal caregiver. Not the kind the academy staffed, but the type that was the keeper of their families. The one who knew all the secrets, hopes, and desires of the group. The confidant and the one people could always lean on for support or even just an ear to listen. Paru prided himself on those attributes.
He didn't know what to expect for his future. He didn't know what he was going to be outside of his family. Perhaps he would simply grow old in the house and help raise the next generation of their family. Who knew.
