Psychological Intuition - August possesses an incredible and innate understanding/knowledge of psychology and can use it for various purposes, often by changing the perception or behavior of others through underhanded, deceptive, or even abusive tactics.

Mental Hallucination - August can create all sorts of hallucinations that can distract, cause the target to go insane from the wild sensation or to cause the victim's psyche/mental to collapse. This goes in hand with this psychological intuition, being able to capitalise the damage on his victims psyche.

Genius Level Intellect - Born with a natural inclination towards the academical world, August thrived throughout his life in most sciences, particularly anatomy and psychological studies. This gift also has been pivotal in his operations as a serial killer remaining undetected.

Human Physiology - Just as susceptible to any wound made with a knife or bullet as any other human.

                How do they act?
August is intellectually brilliant, cultured and sophisticated, with refined tastes in art, music and cuisine. Well educated, and polite, he is ever the Social Anti-Social, he will keep up appearances in public as a professional psychiatrist who's only interest is the betterment of his patient. Deep down, Dr Valtersen harbours a desire to kill, and child hood trauma has accumulated in him ultimately having an interest in a new type of cuisine.

                What's their backstory?
Born in 1961 to Dr. Henning and Bente Valtersen, whilst they were visiting the Americas, August was the eldest of two children. Having been exposed to the energies released into the atmosphere at such a young age, August's abilities did not surface until his later life. Being raised in Biržai, Aukštaitija, Lithuania - August recieved the finest education that they could afford. At the age of 10, he and his sister, Hanne, were both avid fans of the heroes of America who had emerged following the infamous Chicago experiment.

During Lithuania's time as a puppet state of the Soviet Union in 1972, many Soviet Soldiers who were posted within Aukštaitija, Biržai, grew hostile towards the locals. A splinter cell of Soviet Soldiers had laid siege to the small town - holding it's residents captive and taking over the town. Food supplies grew, and the Soviet-Lithuanian government was slow to react to the situation, resulting in starvation amongst the residents as the Soviet Soldiers had slaughtered livestock and horded food. As stock ran out for even the soldiers in the winter of 1972, they began to resort to anything to ensure their own survival. Residents had went missing on a large scale, rumours arose of foul play, other rumours arose of unspeakable acts. It wasn't until December 19th, 1972, that August would experience this first hand.

The Valtersen's riches had ensured an uneasy survival under the siege, but a survival nonetheless. As Soviet Soldiers ransacked their estate, destroying many heirlooms - they took the famly hostage as they rummaged for food. Finding none, and in an act of depraved desperation, the Soldiers decided they'd continue the savagery and play to the rumours. Engaging in the foul act of cannibalism, both Dr Henning and Dr Bente Valtersen were murdered and devoured. It was in this moment that August's powers surfaced - as the great trauma had awoken them. As per their sadistic natures, one of the soldiers offered food to both Hanne and August. At first, the food appeared as a delicious, tender and skinless leg of chicken. As August took his first bite, he had closed his eyes and concentrated deeply on the flavour - it tasted like no other meat he had tasted before. Opening his eyes, the chicken now looked rotten and had maggots crawling from it. As he dropped it in disgust, it returned to normal, looking like beef on the ground. Hanne had refused to eat any of the meat, as no hallucinations had plagued her. Enraged, the Soldiers then dragged the little girl outside, and her screaming was cut short with a deathly silence.

As days followed by, The Soviet-Lithuanian government had eventually sent out a patrol to end the seige and free the people of Biržai. The soldiers had surrendered themselves and were shot by a firing squad. However, their victims weren't just those who were murdered and devoured - those who were left alive suffered the most. The men who ate his parents and fed them to him, were war-bitten rude men of low education. It was a hunt that August was forced on and could not stop. Inheriting a small hidden fortune from his parents before the Soviet's forced their ideology on the town, August escaped, using the money to take passage from Lithuania to Italy.

August lived with his aunt who had taken up residence in Italy following the second world war. She reinstated him into schools, were August furthered his education, especially in the sciences. Longing to become a surgeon, his new found apathy following the trauma of his childhood had carried him a long way, a steadiness of hand and indifference to blood that had been unseen for quite some time. In 1981, August graduated - but decided to further for his doctorate, and changing his career path to that of a psychiatrist. As his academic front seemed perfect, and promising, August carried a dark secret. Murders had taken place throughout Florence, Italy - with each victim without a limb and/or organ. Some of these murders even mimic'd works of art or past murders. August had been trying to hone and train his power to induce hallucinations - discovering more each time as he slaughtered a new victim. This made him an effective killer as he could present himself as a friendly figure with no weapon in hand, even if he was walking towards his victim with a knife in hand and killer intent. As The Carabinieri grew closer to discovering the identity of this killer, August had fled from Italy, to the United States in 1998.

It was here that August would set up and continue his work and practice. As he kept well-dressed and lived a life fitting of a bon vivant, he became a respected member within the community, and reaching national recognition among the physician community as a highly effective psychiatrist. Honing his powers into his practice, August would often use these hallucinations to convince his patients that they were feeling better, or for the more elderly, to write him into their wills etc. As he amassed a fortune to continue his lavish life, August began to invest his past-times into studying mythology, something that had always piqued his interest. As he collected books, and even a minor collection of artifacts, August researched and noted different pain thresholds and methods to kill from past experiences. Many serial killers had cultivated images of themselves as monsters and rippers, but August longed for more - he longed for an immortal name amongst the others. A lot of his killings had relied on the use of fear, which was identifiable by the taste of the meat.

Current day 2012, Dr August Valtersen continues his work as psychiatrist, and is on a quest to study the full potential of his powers. As the infamous serial killer 'Nightmare of Chicago', he still attempts to cultivate an image and has managed to evade the authorities. However, as the tenacity of the FBI & Authorities grow, they are beginning to link similarities from the missing organs/limbs to the same set of murders that had occurred in Italy in the 1980's. As he lays low and attempts to cover his tracks more, it's Dr Valtersen's hope to not alert any of the new age Superheroes - lest he decides that he should want to add them to his menu.
