When Shaline left Eorzea, she wanted a place that reminded her of her home back in Ishgard. She soon found the mansion that was for sale and quickly bought it. She dreams of one day bringing her father here to visit and has gave it the name of Maison de Fortemps to give the connection back to the Fortemps Manor in Ishgard. There are 4 bedrooms, the Master bedroom suite, Kitchen with eat in dining room, formal dining room, family room, an office space, and formal living room.

Shaline led the group to her home and stood outside for a moment."Well here we are, welcome to the Maison de Fortemps. La'ella why don't you go and explore the place."Shaline walked with La'ella as she asked if they could go in."Of course. Now let's unlock this door."La'ella had ran ahead of her and reached the door looking excited to go in. Shaline unlocked the door and let La'ella go where she wanted to."Shall we talk in the Formal Living room over here, gives us some privacy."Shaline asked as she watched La'ella go around, checking the house as she pleased.

La'ella stared in awe. It was just as big, if not bigger, than Shaline's father's house. She couldn't believe she was going to be living here in a week's time."Can we go in?"La'ella's ears perked as she ran to the door. She waited for Shaline to unlock the door and she ran off to explore the home, she found a few bedrooms that she might like, but she liked the location and the size that the room with the double bed offered.

Artemis took a look around the front of the place and smiled. It truly was beautiful and fit well with Shaline. "It's beautiful." He watched as La'ella took off through the house and chuckled a little. When Shaline mentioned talking in the formal living room, he nodded and made his way there. Taking a seat on the couch, he waited for Shaline. He had always found couches to be more comfortable than chairs. "You're home is lovely Shaline."

Shaline sat down next to Artemis and smiled."Thanks. The small houses I looked at felt too cramped, not that there were anything wrong with them, just didn't feel like home. Then I found this one and had to have it."Shaline then sighed. Her ears flattening again."Ever since my father mention my Uncle Haurchefant, I can't stop thinking about him."She made sure La'ella was no where near by before she started her tale."My grandfather, Edmond de Fortemps, married my grandmother and had my father a few years after they married. I guess one night, my grandfather might had one too many drinks and he conceived a child with one of the stewardesses of the manor, thus Uncle Haurchefant was born. My grandmother must have forgiven him to have given him another son, Uncle Emmanellaine. My grandmother died a few years after he was weened. My grandfather was very supportive and considered Uncle Haurchefant as a true son of the Fortemps, but of course, being a b*****d child gives you nothing in inheritance nor in the eyes of the other nobles. But grandfather did all he could to keep Uncle Haurchefant included in the family."Shaline leaned back so she could look to the celing."I guess that is why I related to him so much and adored him. When my father met my mother, a lot of the other nobles of Ishgard pleaded with him to not marry my mother, when he did, they looked down on him. From the moment I was born to until I became a warrior of Light, every noble home considered me to be illegitamate. Others begging my father to marry their daughters to bear a child worthy of the Fortemps name."She glanced over to him."To make a long story short, we were at a peace conference that had gone sour. A group was rioting against the unity of Ishgard and the Dravanians, or Dragons. I was in attendance, along with my Uncle Haurchefant when someone tried to drive a sword through me. My uncle jumped in and took the blow...."She raised a hand to look at."I should have been able to heal him....yet I failed to stop the bleeding. He died in my arms and I could do naught to save him."

Artemis listened to Shaline's story and looked down a little. "I'm not too familiar with the ways of nobility. I realize that being happy gets pushed aside a lot. Not to mention all the rules one has to endure."'She must blame herself. It's sad really.' He smiled a little and placed a hand on her shoulder. "Don't think for a second that it was your fault Shaline. You did everything you could."

Shaline looked over to him."I want to believe that, but I just can't get the image of his blood on my hands. I promised him when he died that I'd keep smiling. 'A smile better suits a hero' were the last words he uttered."Shaline didn't realize that tears had started to fall. Maybe it was because she was finally able to get everything off her chest. She couldn't talk to it to the other Scions or the Warriors of Light. It just something she was comfortable sharing, yet it felt good to just let it out with Artemis."Uncle Haurchefant was special to me....and I miss him dearly."Her ears stayed flat as she buried her face into her hands. It was just so easy to share things with Artemis, and she figured it was because they both endured loss.

Artemis pulled Shaline close and hugged her. "It's alright Shaline. Just let it all out. Talking about these things can always make you feel better. It's alright to cry." He was going to make her feel better, not matter what. Smiling, he continued to hold her close. 'I know what you're going through Shaline.'

Shaline curled into him and just cried. It was long over due. She didn't even cry at his funeral, probably because she was trying to keep a brave face and tried to smile, like he wanted. It had been two years since then, and she hadn't once cried about it, yet she was able to finally release all the tension. After a while, her cries started to calm down. She curled a little more into Artemis, just wanting to feel that comfort. when a small purr escaped and her ears perked up slightly.

Artemis smiled and rubbed her back. Judging from all the tears, he could tell that she hadn't cried in a while. 'Even the strongest of warriors are allowed to cry.' When she started purring, he was a little surprised. After a few minutes passed, he couldn't help but chuckle a little. He didn't seem to mind it at all. In fact, he found it to be quite relaxing. Was he starting to fall for Shaline? Even Artemis himself didn't know the answer. Would he be able to love again after everything he had been through? Perhaps he could one day. "I'm right here for you Shaline." Before he knew it, his eyes started to become heavy."

Shaline had already begun to drift into a slumber. In her mind, Shaline was confused as to why she was purring with Artemis. It wasn't like she purred for any man except her father. Her mother had purred for her father as well. As she slept against Artemis, she remembered her mother's words when she asked her mother one day why she and her mother purred for her father. "My dear Shally, we Miqo'te only purr for the ones we love. And not just anyone we love gets to hear it, the ones we love unconditionally are the ones who get to hear the purr. And your father and I, as well as you, love one another without any doubt or fear." Did this mean she was falling for Artemis? Surely she couldn't be. She had only met him early the previous day, but did her instincts know more than she did? Sadly, her mother passed away before she could teach Shaline more about being a Miqo'te, but she did learn some things on her travels, like her odd affinity to balls of yarn, which made her a wonderful weaver of cloth.

La'ella Tia Shaline's new charge
La'ella had finished looking around the house when she yawned. She went to go find Mr. Artemis and Shaline so she could return with him to his house. When she found Shaline and Mr. Artemis, she couldn't help but hear Shaline's purr. It made her feel....like she was with her parents again. Even though it has been so many years, she still can vividly remember the sound of her mother and father's purrs to one another. Not wanting to disturb the sound, La'ella climbed onto the couch on the other side of Artemis and curled up next to the two, listening to Shaline's purrs.

Artemis quickly brushed away the tired feeling he had. He was quite used to staying up late and he still had to get La'ella home. Smiling, he wrapped his arm around La'ella. "I believe it's time to go little one. We can come back and see Shaline tomorrow if you want. Are you awake Shaline?"

Shaline's purr subsided as she sat up rubbing her eyes. She had drifted to sleep but she was awake now."Y-yes. You should head home. Did you choose a room little one?"She smiled and nodded. Shaline stood up and walked them to the door."Please do come over tomorrow. We can get started on your room. And maybe Artemis can help me move some furniture around. And tell Rune I said hello if you see her.Shaline smiled and mouthed a thank you to Artemis.

La'ella felt Mr. Artemis wrap his arm around her and speak. She sat up and nodded. When Shaline sat up and asked her if she found a room she nodded again."The room with the double bed."She smiled and followed the two to the door. She gave Shaline a hug and listened to her speak. Maybe....just maybe Shaline could be the mother that La'ella had always longed for in due time.

Artemis smiled and stood up, stretching a little. He followed Shaline to the door and gave her a hug. "Take care Shaline." Looking over to La'ella, he smiled even more. "Don't worry La'ella, my home isn't too far from here. We'll be there in no time." Turning back to Shaline, he nodded. "I'll be sure to let Rune know. That is, if she's even home. Goodnight Shaline. Let's go La'ella." With that, he made his way out the door and started heading towards home.

Shaline watched as Artemis left with La'ella and oddly felt very alone in the house suddenly. She had never really had that feeling until Artemis and La'ella left. But at the moment, Shaline was way too tired, indicated as she stood at her door staring out the front long after Artemis and La'ella was out of sight. Shaline shook her head and made her way to her room and changed into her pajama's. She sat her three soul stones on her dresser in a wooden box before she curled up in bed and drifted back to sleep.

Shaline arose the next morning and yawned. Today she was going to start on La'ella's room. She wanted to create something special for La'ella in her spare time. She walked to her closet and pulled out a box with some crafting supplies. She found the cotton fabric and some different color threads. She nodded and knew what she was going to make. She saw some of her darker colors and thought maybe Rayne would want a special gift from his father. She sat them aside and looked at herself in the mirror. It was a rare day where she didn't have to use her soul stones so she could wear normal clothes. She picked around in her closet and pulled out something that could work for moving furniture. She then looked at her hair and smiled."Maybe it's time for a change."Shaline looked over to a corner of her room. She had brought the Crystal Bell from Eorzea but never really tried to use it summon the Aesthetician before. Only one way to find out. She walked over to it and pressed it. Lo and behold, Jandelaine appeared. "Lady Shaline. I heard the call and came running all the way from Eorzea. What will it be?" Shaline smiled."Choose your best. I want a change but I want it to be fun. I think I started purring for a man other than my father.""Ah...ok. This time, this change is on the house." Shaline let Jandelaine do what he does best. Moments later, she opened her eyes to a new hair style. "I took the liberty to change the color of your highlights to black. I think it suits ya. Farewell my lady." and with that, Jandelaine had disappeared. She smiled and got dressed for the day and decided to bring breakfast over to Artemis and La'ella. After getting into her kitchen, she had cooked up a simple breakfast with some flat cakes, bacon, and eggs. She placed them in a basket and followed her nose to Artemis's house which was only just down the road from hers.
