It had been some time since Puck had gone out patrolling in Destiny City. A break was needed, and because he could (and because he desperately needed it) he took an extended trip back to London to visit relatives and just be in his hometown. He was there several months, yet even when Rob returned to Destiny City, he wasn't in any hurry to resume patrolling. In fact, it was another couple months before he once more took out his henshin pen and transformed into Sailor Puck. He smoothed his hand over the fabric of his tunic as he stood in his garden, pausing to finger the sheer sash that now wrapped itself around him and knotted at his hip. Puck hadn't given himself much time to get used to the new outfit before taking off to the UK, so it seemed a bit strange to him. He did like the close-fitting camouflage leggings, though. Much easier to move around in. The whole thing seemed rather a bit fancier than the other outfit, but then he supposed it would, since he was now a Super Sailor. With a snorted sigh, he realized he was stalling. "Well," he muttered to himself, "enough of this dallying shite. Let's get on with it." He leapt to the roof of the house across the alley, then bounded along the rooftops toward the university district. No time like the present to get reacquainted with the city, was there?

A Super Sailor's signature caught Sinope's attention and he began to wonder if just about all the senshi in this city were of a higher rank than he was. Not that it mattered much since his power was pretty useless, anyway. Well, unless your aim was to make your opponents angry enough to want to beat the snot out of you. Then it was pretty damn useful.
It was a senshi of the White Moon Court which meant Sinope had no idea how they would react to one of his faction. If he was close enough to sense their energy signature, though, then the chances were they had already picked up on his own, and if he ran now, they would see it and maybe think he was guilty of something. However, he didn't want them to think they could take him by surprise, either. So he took the only option he felt he had left and decided to try to come to them first.
Were those dreadlocks? "Uh...I think you're a little far from your tree, Tarzan," the Dark Mirror Senshi called, unable to help himself as the stranger came into view.

Practically the same moment Puck felt the energy signature of someone aligned with Chaos, he heard the shouted wisecrack. He leapt to the ground and cast about, trying to determine the enemy's location. The stronger it got, though, the less it felt like pure Chaos, like Negaverse agents felt, and more like that one he'd encountered some time ago, what was her name, Mjolnir. What'd she say she was, Dark Mirror Court? That was what Elsa was too, the first guy he'd fought as a senshi. He seemed to attract these Dark Mirror types like a magnet. "Oi!" he called back, looking around until he spotted the source of the catcall. A guy, didn't look much bigger than he was. Good. "You Dark Mirrors are a mouthy lot, you know that? Though Tarzan ain't far from it." He thought back to the Halloween costume Sid had got him to try on last year, a loincloth and basically nothing else, and he smirked. He'd have to tell her about this new moniker he'd gotten thrown at him. Puck strolled toward the Dark Mirror senshi, pointedly looking him up and down. A hood with ears, what looked like a tail, a mishmash of colors… "What's your angle then, mate? Confusion?"

At the response he got regarding other Dark Mirror Senshi, a broad grin sprang to the redhead's face. "Nice to know I'm in the right faction," he answered, obviously amused. "Why do you say it ain't far from it, though? You a senshi of wild men or something?"
He crossed his arms as he found himself being inspected, casting the dirty blonde a wry look. "Sinope, Senshi of Slyness." He gestured to his brooch. "I don't know what the heck this is and I sure as hell didn't ask for this outfit. But it reminds me of certain trickster characters from those animal fables. You know, like the clever coyote or fox that outsmarted their enemies. Or rabbit or raven or spider, but the saying I'm most familiar with is 'sly as a fox', so I'm gonna go with that."
"Why, you the fashion police?" Sinope raised a brow at all the leaves, vines, and camouflage the other sailor scout wore. "I think you better check yourself first. At least mine don't look like I'm trying to play Peter Pan."

"Puck, Senshi of the Woods." The Super stopped and crossed his arms as well, returning the wry expression. "So maybe the senshi of wild men too. The woods are wild and deep, after all, and who knows what the hell you'll find there, yeah?" He thought back to his own world, the moon Puck, with its dense, dark forests. He'd certainly not known what was lurking there when he first arrived. It'd been awhile; he'd have to go back again, soon. He cocked his head as the young Dark Mirror explained himself. "Tricksters, eh? That makes sense, given your outfit. Reckon I'm kind of a trickster too, bein' a Puck an' all." With a chuckle he added, "We're bros, mate. Or something." More like something -- this kid was a Dark Mirror senshi, after all, and therefore the enemy. But who was the bigger trickster? He'd probably have to give it to Sinope, since he was actually the Senshi of Slyness. "Peter Pan?" Puck laughed and spread his arms. "Yeah, I reckon I do look a bit like the Pan. Kinda daft-looking if you think about it, and kinda impractical. Though you rather got the short end of it, didn't you, with the gauzy crap hangin' off you? Do all you Dark Mirrors have to wear that s**t? It looks alright on the birds, but not so much on the blokes. An' no, I ain't the Fashion Police. Just callin' 'em as I see 'em."

"The woods? Fun," Sinope commented, his mind running through all the possibilities of what that could have meant for Puck’s magic. “Puck, Pan, Peter Pan - all wild woodland guys, so I guess I get that. One’s a seelie fae, one’s a Greek God, and one’s an everlasting child, so why not a senshi? That’s a pretty awesome namesake you’ve got there, though. I love that fairy dude.”
The high school freshman nodded at Puck’s conclusion regarding his outfit making sense and them both being trickster ‘bros’ of a sort. “I can always respect a fellow trickster. But I have to wonder - are you only one in namesake, or do you have what it takes to call yourself one and be right?” Meeting the blonde’s eyes, the redhead’s grin turned particularly mischievous. “Enough to handle getting a secret stolen from you?”
Sailor Sinope sighed at the remark about his ‘gauzy crap’. “As far as I know, yeah, we all have it. But the way I see it, it doesn’t matter what I wear because I can make anything look good.” He held up a finger and explained matter-of-factly, “Tricksters are versatile. We transcend boundaries separating categories like ‘male’ and ‘female’ - or as you put it, ‘birds’ and ‘blokes’ - so there isn’t really a difference to us. That’s why the trickster god, Loki, had no problem shapeshifting into a mare to give birth to the eight-legged steed of Odin, Sleipnir.”
He waved a hand, gesturing as he spoke. “That’s also why us Dark Mirrors transcend the boundaries defining the Negaverse and the White Moon Court. We’re not limited by the ridiculous concepts of ‘good’ and ‘evil’ like you guys seem to be.”tatterpixie Sly Secret Steal: Sinope locks eyes with his target on the battlefield and casts them a knowing grin. Causes the target to be seized by the unshakable feeling that Sinope knows something about them they really don't want him to know (whether or not he actually knows it) The player of the target can interpret as they see fit what their character thinks Sinope knows. Sinope does not necessarily know whatever it is, but his attack causes his target to think he does, which serves as an unnerving distraction during battle.

Puck didn't know what the young Dark Mirror had done, but he narrowed his eyes at Sinope. Did the kid somehow know that his magic was really incredibly lame and not at all related to trickery? Some bloody great trickster he was, Puck decided after listening to Sinope reel off lore about his namesakes and related tricksters -- more information than Puck himself knew about them. He felt annoyed and embarrassed, and gradually getting angry at himself. Which meant that Sinope was likely to feel the fallout of that. "What are you on about?" he growled at Sinope. "Are all you Dark Mirrors tricksters? How d'you know what kind of magic I can do? You some kind of mind-reader or something, is that your power?" He approached the kid, hands balled into fists. It was a shame he'd have to beat Sinope up -- the Dark Mirror senshi seemed like a cool guy, and much like Mjolnir had, he was making the Dark Mirror Court sound more like they were neutral parties leaning toward the side of Order. ...But, Puck pondered, should he just beat him up, or should he use his magic on the kid? If Sinope knew what his magic was, he might dodge it, and that would render it useless. Maybe if he did it fast… But he'd still end up angry and embarrassed at the patch of forest that would suddenly pop up around Sinope. ******** lame. Still, it was worth a shot. Stopping his advance on the Dark Mirror, Puck pointed at him and said, "Wild Copse." Kitomyx Wild Copse Puck points at his target and calls out the attack name, and a dense patch of forest undergrowth typically reaching about waist-high springs up around the feet of his target. Along with the undergrowth entangling the target's feet, there are also young trees surrounding them with this attack, acting as a cage. The undergrowth, extending in about a 10-foot radius around the target, consists of a tangle of ivy, ferns, shrubs and small saplings atop slippery moss and leaf litter underfoot. The trees stand about 10-12 feet tall and are spaced so that it is nearly impossible to squeeze one's body between them. It is still possible for the enemy to reach their arms through the trees and use ranged attacks, however, so Puck basically casts it and runs. He has to be within 15 feet of his target to use this; if the target can get outside the radius before the undergrowth or trees appear, it can be dodged. It lasts around 30 seconds before dissipating. He can use this up to twice per battle.

Aaaand there it was. Sinope had enough experience angering other people - whether on purpose or on accident - and getting beat up as a result to know when someone was itching to wail on him. And for the hundredth time he had to wonder what kind of twisted sense of humor whoever had given him this power had because all it seemed to do was get him into trouble. As if he couldn't manage that well enough on his own.
At first he'd thought it had been kind of cool, making people he had some secret knowledge he could hold over them. But when he didn't actually have that knowledge or any idea whatsoever as to what it could be except for what he could garner from their reactions, that didn't help much. In fact, his magic seemed almost more harmful to him than helpful. Without actually having the secret to use as blackmail or even just the physical strength or knowledge for proper self-defense, he was basically helpless. And against a super senshi, no less.
Why had he acted on the impulsive urge to open his big mouth again? And he thought himself to be clever. Ha! And yet, he still couldn't bring himself to hold his tongue for some reason. Perhaps out of nervousness at having nothing else to retaliate or protect himself with aside from his own words. "We're not all tricksters, no, but we're morally ambiguous, which is a trickster trait." As was the instinct for self-preservation a.k.a. cowardice, which he was feeling pretty strongly just then. But Puck didn't need to know that.
"...How d'you know what kind of magic I can do? You some kind of mind-reader or something, is that your power?"
Wait - what? Ohh...he thought he knew what his magic could do? But was that really such a thing to be concerned about your enemy knowing? And the White Moon Senshi didn't just seem concerned; he seemed downright pissed. Was he embarrassed about his own attack? Just the sight of the blonde clenching his fists was enough to make Sinope swallow hard. Time to turn tail and live to fight - or flee - another day. Or...he would have, if he didn't remember just in time that a super sailor scout would quickly be able to overtake him in terms of speed no matter how fast he ran. Thus it was best not to expose his back to the senshi of the woods just yet.
So, with no other option, he reverted to doing what he felt he did best - talking out of his a** with what seemed to be fairly sound reasoning, even if it was usually faulty. "Look man," he said, holding up his palms, "I don't know what sort of complex you have about your magic, but it's totally fine. In fact, I think it's awesome. No one's gonna judge you for it! Do I look like the sort of guy who would judge?"
Sinope was soon spared the need to continue making it seem like he knew what he didn't, though, because then Super Sailor Puck decided to demonstrate his magic on the younger scout. The redhead was both shocked and horrified as he found his feet tangled in the underbrush that abruptly sprang from the earth around him. If his chances of escaping were low before, the odds were definitely against him now. Full-sized trees had him imprisoned so even if he'd managed to get his feet free, he would have been blocked by their close-growing trunks. As fast as his heart was beating, though, the adrenaline that pumped through his veins worked hard to allow his mind and mouth to keep up.
"Whooa...holy s**t, Robin. You were mad about me knowing this?" He tried in vain to lift a leg. "This is like...the perfect trickster magic. You can use it to escape while your enemy's trapped or to keep them from escaping you. Either way keeps them guessing and you don't even have to fight them physically." What he wouldn't have given for a power like this. "Say, can we trade?"tatterpixie ((Don't worry; he doesn't know Puck's real name, but there's a reason he's calling him Robin, which has to do A Midsummer Night's Dream. If you'd rather him not, though, just let me know and I can change it.))

Kitomyx No, that's brilliant! XD I'm running with it XD Puck had never used his Super magic before. He watched the undergrowth spring up as it always did with his basic magic, although over a much broader area, but then trees shot upwards into the air, proper leafy trees. They formed a cage around Sinope, and between that and the slippery forest floor the young Dark Mirror was effectively pinned. With a grin Puck watched Sinope's expression change from cocksure to placating to downright fearful. Nice. Then the kid said his name. His REAL name, his powered-down full first name. It didn't occur to Puck that, given the previous conversation about tricksters, that Sinope was referring to Robin Goodfellow, the character Puck's other name from his favorite Shakespeare play, A Midsummer Night's Dream. In the heat of anger, the reference went right over his head. How did he know? It must have been some kind of Dark Mirror magic. Maybe they were all mind readers. Hands ballling back up into fists, Puck stormed over to the copse, carving a path through the underbrush. Approaching the trees, he shoved one arm between two of them and grabbed the front of Sinope's fuku. He pulled the Dark Mirror senshi toward him, smushing the kid's face against the bark of the trees. "How the ******** do you know my name?"

Okay, so maybe his power, in some poetic sense, may have revealed people's true natures, but if all their true natures were this angry and scary and dead set on killing him, Sinope wasn't sure he wanted to know them. Here he'd thought he'd found a fairly reasonable guy only to discover that it didn't take much to rile him up. And, on top of that, his magic prevented escape so Sinope actually had to suffer the consequences of his actions. Who would have figured?
Something else he'd said after getting trapped definitely must have had some sort of additional negative effect on Puck's mood because the other senshi's fury seemed to increase dramatically within an astoundingly short span of time. Before he could so much as ask what he'd said wrong, the blonde had him grabbed by the front of his fuku (which he was quickly getting used to with how often it happened to him) and yanked forward to slam against the rough trunks of the trees.
"What the <********>" he hissed, mentally running back through the words he'd said and turning up with nothing that warranted this new level of abuse. Name? This guy thought he knew his name? Well duh, hadn't he just given it to him? Puck, Senshi of the Woods. Unless...did he mean the other one?
Oh, s**t. If what had happened was what he thought had happened, Sinope had just dug himself into a whole other depth of danger without even meaning to.
"Dude, Puck, calm the <********> down!" he hollered, attempting and failing to keep the panic out of his own voice. He took a deep breath and tried to start over because he needed to speak very fast and very clearly if he was going to attempt to fix his mess before any actual harm was done.
"You know Shakespeare, yeah? He wrote about a fairy whose name is 'Puck'. Since Celtic Mythology and other works associate that name with the devil, the phrase, 'speak of the devil and he will come' applied to him. That's why in Shakespeare's play, people started calling him another term that was used for hobgoblins at the time; 'Robin Goodfellow', which was where I got the name. That's all. I swear."
In spite of his predicament and what it could have meant for him, Sinope couldn't help but appreciate the irony of the situation. Puck had been called by his alias, Robin, in order to avoid speaking his true name. But in this case, it seemed the name Puck was the alias and Robin may have been...well.tatterpixie ((LOL Oh man, this is great XD <3 Thanks for humoring me!))

Puck listened to Sinope explain himself, still glaring at the other senshi. The kid's words sunk in and made a surprising amount of sense, given their previous discussion. He felt a little bad now for automatically jumping to conclusions, that Sinope possessed magic capable of reading his mind and learning his real name. Maybe these Dark Mirror types couldn't read minds after all. … Learning his real name. With a cold sinking feeling Puck realized that in his anger he'd inadvertently revealed his real name to Sinope. s**t. Swallowing down the panic, he continued to snarl at the young Dark Mirror, despite no longer really being angry with him; he didn't want Sinope to know how freaked out he was. "Okay, I'll buy that excuse. Maybe. You ain't done anything to make me doubt you. In fact, you've been downright civil. Interesting conversation counts for a lot, in my estimation. And you've proven that you're not necessarily a bad guy, despite being a Dark Mirror senshi." As Puck spoke, his magic dissipated, leaving him standing there wiith his fist tangled in the front of Sinope's fuku and his face a few inches away from the kids. "But if I ever hear you breathe my name to anyone," he growled, "trickster or no, I'm going to use you to mop the pavement. Are we clear on this?"

Though Puck continued to glare at him, Sinope could tell his words were making the White Moon Sensei think. He also knew that meant Puck was realizing the gravity of the situation and what he had unintentionally done which likely would have triggered a whole new set of concerns. The defense mechanism that the blonde employed - continuing to express hostility to distract from his own embarrassment and worries - was one Sinope was well-familiar with and thus easily recognized. As someone who had been in Puck's shoes many a time before, he decided to play along.
He would have loved to point out that his explanation was not an excuse, but they both knew that, so there was no point in calling Puck out on it. At least the guy acknowledged he'd been civil and, evidently, interesting, which was nice to hear because most people who conversed with him thought he acted like a know-it-all. But one thing bothered him just a tad.
"Hey, interesting conversation is what I do. But what do you mean, 'despite being a Dark Mirror sensei'? Didn't I just tell you we're not bad guys? Since you commented on us Dark Mirrors being a 'mouthy lot', I assume that means you've met at least one other before. And if being mouthy is the worst you have to say about us after your encounters, you have no right to conclude we're bad guys by default."
The fading of Puck's magic patch of trees, undergrowth, and other foliage relieved Sinope's face from the friction of the bark they'd been pressed up against. However, he still found himself in a distressingly helpless position as he was given a final warning. The feeling of being powerless - especially due to being physically man-handled, which he suffered a lot from his bullies at school - perturbed him to the point of attempting to be obnoxious in retaliation.
"I don't knooooow...I can't make any promises. If I decide to take up bird-watching or need to refer to Batman's most popular sidekick, I may just have to let your name slip." He offered Puck a crooked smirk. "But I won't be telling anyone it belongs to you, if that's what you mean. You have my word on that." The redhead lightly pat the fist still gripping his fuku a couple of times. "Now let me go or I'll kiss you. I already get grabbed and have people's angry faces shoved in mine a little too often for my comfort."tatterpixie ((So sorry that took so long to respond to OTL))

Puck held on to Sinope's fuku a few moments longer, as if to make a point, before turning the Dark Mirror loose and stepping back a couple of paces. The snarl faded into a scowl, though, as he listened to Sinope's promise and pondered his words. The Dark Mirror senshi he'd met before, Mjolnir, had left him no concerns over whether or not to believe what she said. And she'd said that they were not a threat, that they were not the enemy. There was, therefore, no reason not to trust what Sinope was saying, especially since it was remarkably similar in tone to what Mjolnir had told him. "Right then," Puck finally said. "I suppose I can believe you. None of you lot have given me any cause to doubt you. Reckon you're no different." He eyed the ginger-haired young man. "And yeah, as you've gathered already, I've met one or two of you Dark Mirrors. You haven't proven yourselves to be a threat -- at least not yet. Despite how odd you may read. It's hard to trust with this whole war shite going on, yeah?" A small lopsided smile quirked his mouth. "Hard to know which side someone's really on if they ain't obvious about it." "There are precious few at ease with moral ambiguities~" Sinope sang dramatically in response to being told his court was hard to trust. That line was still his favorite among those in the musical he'd borrowed it from. "...so just act as though we don't exist." The teen spread his palms upward and out as if his altered lyrics were the most simple solution in the world. "That's what everyone else does, anyway."
He chuckled lightly at the comment about sides. "I'll take that as a compliment. After all, who knows whether or not they can trust a trickster? Gotta keep people guessing." Tapping his chin, he asked, "But what about you, White Moon? Why do you stick to your side?" He was smiling again, but there was something solemn about it and his hazel eyes were serious. Puck thought for a moment, but was quick to answer. "It's given me the ability and means to protect people. From monsters like youma and the Negaverse -- whom I count as monsters, for what they do and how they go about it. See, I may seem like a misanthrope on the surface, and given my name one might think I'd like nothing more than to go around pulling pranks on people. An' that's as may be," he shrugged with a tilt of his head and a small grin. "But if everyone had their starseed yanked or was turned into a pawn of the Negaverse, or even a youma, who'd be left to prank, yeah?" He met Sinope's hazel eyes with a direct gaze. "I still don't know for sure what you lot are on about. The other Dark Mirror I've spoken to said you were into protecting people too. If that's really the case, then I got no problem with you. If by 'protecting' you mean turn 'em into something other than what they are, though, then maybe we do have problems. BUT." Pointing at the Dark Mirror's chest, he grinned again. "I'd need to know more before I decide whether or not you people are a threat." Crossing his arms over his chest, he tilted his head and looked Sinope up and down. "So, let's turn this about. What keeps you in the Dark Mirror Court?"
