It had been a bit of a while since she had gotten off the phone from the exchange that had a hand in why she was here at her present location, but a smile still played on her features as she recalled her conversation that had just transpired via mobile call with a friend on behalf of a group of friends. It was really quite something of an encounter when a request for takeout to bring to another spontaneously arranged group gathering to take place today was mixed with expressions of thoughtful concern, she reckoned.
She was doing so much powered work. She has seen more of Destiny City on patrol than in leisure. She should take more leisurely outings, find more of a balance between relaxing and being on alert so as not to strain herself. She may find it refreshing to just walk around and explore as a civilian more often. Or so they said. Caely couldn't resist the slight chuckle that escaped her as she traversed the area, remembering the endeavor at smoothly slipping in the so-called suggestion that she do some sight-seeing and then, with an emphasis on the word: perhaps, she could opt to decide on some deserts the four of them could indulge in after they had what the decided dinner menu they'll surprise her with would have in store when they get together for another living room hang out. Lyselle sure had a way with words, Caely thought.
And, if she were more honest with herself though, she'd admit that she was very much in fact looking forward to another night of unwinding with her long time friends, and so much so, that she was already considering playful options to decide on for their dessert menu today. Plus, she really was finding this time being a civilian and not powered up while blending in with all the present Destiny City buzz here to be a refreshing experience.
Eventually, her general observation of the sights around her transitioned to focusing on store signs. What was the name of the place Lyselle had suggested again?
The Sugar Cube, there it was, Caely determined with sudden recollection when reading the store's marker brought about a match among the words spoken to her by her friend.
Soon after that, she was entering the domain of the recommended supplier of sweets and upon spotting someone who registered in her mind as being a worker here, Caely paused her scan of the interior of the place to approach and address the individual.
"Hello, may I order to go?" Caely smilingly inquired of the person she had identified as a staff member of the establishment.

Katrina hated working afternoon weekday shifts. Everyone was at work, children were at school and the mall was dead. In the morning the mall walkers came in for their coffee and muffins; most of them elderly friends or couples with a handful of fitness mothers who liked to jog while pushing oversized strollers with oversized wheels around where everyone else was trying to walk. In the evening people would come in for dessert or for a coffee to get them through a study session in one of the booths while they enjoyed a sweet treat of some sort. But during the afternoon? Customers were few and far between and it made her miserable, especially when she was there by herself.
The counters had been wiped clean once already, or was it twice. The machines had been taken apart for cleaning already and wait... Wait. Was that a person?
Kat stepped up to the counter, perky smile on her bright pink lips and green eyes gleaming with delight. Finally, interaction with a real person.
"Yes, of course! Had you already taken a look over the menu or did you need a minute. I could also go over our specials for the day, if you'd like."
"This is a charming establishment and it's my first time here with the recommendation of my friend. And I'm wondering, is," Caely's gaze took a moment to alternate between the immediate vicinity's visual offerings and the individual she has begun interacting with before focusing her gaze toward the Sugar Cube staff member again as she continued her conversational response, "is there perhaps a paper pamphlet menu for mass distribution that I can take with me? And, yes, please, what are today's specials?"

"Uh... Yeah. The Sugar Cube is really great." Katrina's smile was still bright and as friendly as could be, even as her lips pressed together to bite back a little bit more of her personality. "We've got a flyer that has a few coupons attached for different days of the week, right here-- You generally get one along with your receipt after every purchase. Today we got a fresh shipment of macaroons in, if you're a fan of coconut. There's also the black forest cupcakes which are pretty spectacular and go very well with a darker coffee roast, if coffee is your thing. Anything special that you might be in the mood for?"
"I see and thank you, and do you have Boston Crème-filled Donuts? If so, I'd like a half dozen," Caely began to reply with further inquiry and went on to also ask, "And, how much would four Black Forest Cupcakes be? I don't think I've had any before now. I believe it's the first time I've heard that flavor and I'm wondering why because it sounds really amazing; what're the ingredients? Also, are milkshakes offered? And if so, what are the flavors?" Caely hoped she hadn't gotten extremely carried away with her questions as she enumerated the sweets she'd been considering for purchase.

"I think we do have some of the donuts left-- There wasn't a mad rush for the cases first thing this morning." Generally the eclairs did better than the donuts-- Seemed to last a bit longer as well, but in an attempt to appeal to the early morning crowd they'd brought in a small assortment of donuts to go along with the cinnamon rolls.
While chatting with the other young woman she began to box up the donuts. "The cupcakes are $2.75 apiece... Those ones are, at least. They're-- Gosh, it's been a while since I've had one myself, but Danny said something about dark chocolate with a cherry glaze filling. Whipped icing and a cherry on top-- Very rich, but very tasty. Is everything going to be to go today?" Her brow quirked as she closed the box.
"Smoothies, blended drinks and malts, but not milkshakes. Basic flavors... Chocolate, strawberry and vanilla. If you're really looking for a good milkshake there's a handspun place just outside of the mall; a little pricey, but totally worth it."
"Wow, now I'm really looking forward to trying the flavor later," she stated and then since Caely had braided her hair over one shoulder today, she was mindful not to pull at her hair as she procured her wallet from the bag she happened to have hung on the same shoulder. "Okay, I'll add the place with milkshakes you've recommended to my list of today's discoveries. Yes, everything's to-go, please, just the donuts and cupcakes for today." Caely began computing the math for the cupcakes in her head for a little mental exercise as she awaited the receipt for the total to pay. "It's also a wonder for me why the air in here isn't edible," she chuckled, "I'll have to be back for more desserts probably, but hopefully it doesn't turn into an overly frequent habit to crave the Sugar Cube's sweets."

"So that's... Eleven dollars for the cupcakes and five for the donuts. After tax that's seventeen twelve." She flashed the young woman another grin as she carefully placed the boxes flat in a large, paper shopping bag with handles that would make transporting the baked goods easier once she handed them over to the other young woman. "Just make sure to get the cupcakes into the fridge when you get home if you and your friend aren't planning on eating them first, alright?"
"Alright, and thank you so much," Caely said appreciatively in turn with a wide smile while she received the goodies she purchased and went on her way as well.
