Quote:
While the Holiday is all about giving, you've just witnessed someone taking. In the middle of a crowded shopping mall, you just saw someone blatantly pickpocket someone else--or maybe, they tried to pickpocket you? You've got a few options--turn a blind eye, inform the victim, chase the thief--anything you feel is right. But still, you've got to do something.

Sinope really had no qualms about hanging out in densely-populated areas while in powered form. In fact, he found that was one of the best ways to collect lots of energy from mass amounts of people while remaining relatively inconspicuous. After all, with so many other people to pay attention to, what reason would anyone have to pick out him, even if he was dressed a little strangely?

Someone else seemed to use this strategy to their advantage, however. As he stood behind one of the store signs above everyone else, he got a good view of a pickpocket at work. What audacity! He supposed he wasn't much better, but at least people didn't miss the energy that was taken from them. He wasn't a hero; what reason did he have to go after the thief?

"Because it takes a thief to catch a thief," he muttered to himself as he began jumping from sign to sign in order to keep his target in his sights. "Because I've got to show him who's the better thief and because I'm bored. And who knows? Maybe there'll be a reward in it for me." He figured he still had some time before he had to return his mirrorwraith to its shard.

Sailor Kari wasn’t one to normally go where the people were. That was something that could lead to way to many casualties, especially when she was such a useless fighter…besides. There was normally safety in numbers, at least for the civilians, for that was who she was thinking of…

But…something tonight drove her out. Something was there…and it didn’t feel like anything she had dealt with before. It felt…bad, that she was sure of…but it didn’t feel like someone who was part of the Negaverse. It wasn’t anything she had dealt with before…not a youma or anything…it was…it was something new.

New to her, at least.

She moved to the edge of the building that she was on and looked out upon the scene, trying to find…whatever it was she was feeling. Finally, after a few moments of searching, her eyes found the source of the energy…or what she assumed was the source of the energy. It was someone jumping, someone in black jumping.

Quickly, she made a light leap off of the building she was on and landed on the next, trying to keep up with the unfamiliar senshi. “You there. What are you doing?”

Because calling out to someone was always what got her into such great situations before. God would she ever learn?

He had his sights set on his target when the close proximity of an Order signature distracted him, forcing him to tear his gaze away for a second. Some girl was asking him something. He sighed, supposing he should have been grateful she hadn't attacked first and asked questions later. Still, it was a pain to be interrupted while in the middle of doing something.

"I'm chasing a pickpocket," he answered matter-of-factly, "At least I was until you sidetracked me. Shouldn't you be the one keeping an eye out for and going after criminals like these?" Sinope gestured a gloved hand ahead toward the person darting through the crowds. They were fast, but in his powered form, he was faster. Talking to the White Moon senshi hindered him, though, or he was sure he would have caught up to the thief by now.

Kari frowned, folding her arms across her chest. “You’re chasing a pickpocket?” She glanced around not really completely comprehending this news. He…was doing a good thing? “But…what are you? I haven’t met someone like you before…and you feel like chaos…so…I’m not really sure that I believe you when you say you’re doing something good?”

She sounded unsure…and felt unsure. He could be telling the truth…there were sure enough people around that there might really be a pickpocket in the crowd…but in that vein…couldn’t he just be trying to distract her from him doing something…bad? And if he had such a readymade excuse…well then he didn’t seem likely to be one to reason with or anything…

“I don’t believe you.” She decided. That was her belief. He was up to no good, by very virtue of him wearing black. “What are you really up to? Are you trying to hurt these people?”

"That's what I said," the Dark Mirror Senshi answered, impatience tainting his tone with irritation. He was so focused on not losing the thief in the crowd that he didn't even divert his gaze to look at the other senshi. He kept his pace up without slowing for two reasons - to continue his pursuit of his target and to lose his own pursuer if possible.

"Look, lady, I never asked you to believe me and I never said what I was doing was 'good'. I'm a Dark Mirror Senshi and yeah, we've got Chaos signatures, but I'm not out to hurt anyone like the Negaverse, so you can relax. Unless you wanna help me catch this guy, but it's not like I need your help." Honestly, he hoped she didn't. He was sure she'd mess things up and just make everything harder for him.

Why did so many of these Order people seem so caught up in the idea of 'good' and 'bad' being as blatant as black and white? And how come so few of them seemed to know about his court? Shoving aside those questions for now, he noticed the perpetrator pause to catch his breath and saw his chance. Sinope swooped down on his target from one of the store signs, knocking the pickpocket to the ground with both feet against their back.

"HA! Caught ya!" he cried, before realizing the thief was a young woman around his own age. Sinope blinked, confused; this wasn't the kind of criminal he thought he would have been apprehending. "Uh...did you just pick that guy's pocket back there?" he asked her, scratching his head.

"What the hell?! No, that was my boyfriend, you freak!" the young lady retorted, outraged as she shoved Sinope off her. "He was busy with contacting his work about something, so he told me to borrow his wallet to get us both lunch!"

The red-head raised a brow quizzically, picking himself up off the floor. "...You got any proof?"

"UGH!" Whacking him with her purse, the young lady got up and walked away with as much dignity as she could muster, leaving a stunned senshi staring after her.

Dark Mirror Senshi? What the hell was that? Not something she had ever heard of or dealt with before, that was for sure.
She continued following him, and watched as he went to…to attack someone. Accuse them of pick pocketing and then getting whacked with a purse. She couldn’t just let him…do whatever he wanted with no consequences. When she finally caught up with him, and saw that he was distracted, she held out her hand. “Just. Hold it you creep. Loyalty Hurts!”

Kari wasn’t quite sure why she was using her magic on him…but…but he was clearly doing bad things. Terrorizing people and just…being a creep. And that being a creep was more than enough reason to attack him.

So she had to stop him, no matter what…even if all of this was just a misunderstanding. Which…clearly it wasn’t.

Kitomyx
Sailor Scout Attack: Loyalty Hurts
Sailor Kari holds out a hand towards an opponent and says the name of her attack, giving the opponent thirty seconds of pain. There is not any physical sign of it, and when the thirty seconds is up there are no lasting effects, but the level of pain that the opponent feels depends on his or her loyalty to chaos, the higher the loyalty, the more pain they feel. Can be used once per battle, on one opponent within a ten foot radius.

The red-head turned to face the brunette with an irritated sigh. Great. First he was being called a freak, now a creep, and all this being shouted out loud in public after he’d been assaulted with a purse. He knew he’d made a pretty serious error in judgement, but had he really warranted this sort of embarrassment? Sinope would have thought the public humiliation of his failure had been enough. Evidently the White Moon senshi didn’t think so, though. “Loyalty...hurts?” he repeated, taking a split second to realize that it was the name of a magical attack the girl was calling out. s**t! "What?! Hey, hey, wait! Didn't I already just pay for my mistake with that whack to the head? Why are you attacking me now?!"

What kind of magic did she possess, anyway? Whatever it was, Sinope wasn’t about to take it lying down. He knew his own magic wasn’t very powerful and it would have been a risk to seem like he was being hostile, but as far as he was concerned, she was already of the opinion that he was her enemy. And since she had attacked first, any action he took should have been considered self-defense. Even if he couldn’t do much, there was always the hope his own attack could delay or otherwise distract his new, self-appointed opponent. Meeting Kari’s gaze, he cast her a wry grin and shot back, “Sly Secret Steal!”

By the time he had spoken his own incantation, though, Kari’s had hit its mark. At least...Sinope assumed it had. There was no visible sign of it, but the Dark Mirror Senshi thought he felt something. It was a dull ache, like the faint soreness one got after an intense workout, but it wasn’t debilitating or anything. And he had thought his attack was useless. Was there more to hers, perhaps, like side-effects that came into play after the fact?
Sailor Sinope looked down at himself, examining his body for any possible injuries or damage, but nothing stood out to him. After about half a minute, even the minor ache was gone. Maybe she’d inflicted some unseen malady on him? Eventually, he raised his head back up and asked Kari quizzically, “Um...what exactly did you just do to me?”

((Kari’s attack is so cool! heart Sorry I took so long to reply, by the way. ^_^; New job has been pretty hectic.))

Sly Secret Steal:
Sinope locks eyes with his target on the battlefield and casts them a knowing grin.

Causes the target to be seized by the unshakable feeling that Sinope knows something about them they really don't want him to know (whether or not he actually knows it)

The player of the target can interpret as they see fit what their character thinks Sinope knows. Sinope does not necessarily know whatever it is, but his attack causes his target to think he does, which serves as an unnerving distraction during battle.
