I stole this from another guild.

So, this is a free RP with a twist. Play whatever you want and do whatever you want, but you roll a d6 to determine the outcome, which I'll narrate. Either roll yourself or let me roll for you, it doesn't make any difference. I'll automatically roll for you in any Roll to Dodge! situation, such as getting attacked, triggering a trap, etc.

Results:

1: Epic fail! You do the exact opposite of what you intended.
2: Failure. Whatever you wanted to do, it didn't happen.
3: Partial success. You succeed, but at a cost.
4: Success. You succeed, no strings attached.
5: Perfect success. You succeed so well, it comes with a benefit.
6: Overshoot. You succeed so well that it has unintended consequences.

As an example, you decide you want to build a campfire:

1: I don't know how you managed to do it, but you've managed to freeze the kindling solid.
2: You just can't manage to light the fire.
3: The fire is lit, but you burn your hand (-1 to next roll).
4: You light the fire. Huzzah!
5: You light the fire in record time and feel very good about yourself (+1 to next roll).
6: Well, you manage to light the campfire. And the camp. And the forest. Uh...

That 6 result would also create a Roll to Dodge! situation for anyone in the camp, yourself included. In the original game, there was an emphasis on comedy, but we could do anything you want.

You create the world as you play. Want to visit a village, but there isn't one? Perform the action "I search for a village." Or something similar.

Rules:

1. No godmodding. If you interact with anyone (even an NPC), let their player respond. You may still roll to perform an action on them
2. One action per round. A round is of variable length and ends the moment I narrate the results. You may post more than once per round, as long as only one action is made.
3. Injuries are healed with a roll check. You may resurrect yourself or another player only on a 6 result.
4. One character per player. If your character dies or leaves, you may create another.
5. Create your character in your first post. There are no restrictions, though it's worth remembering that all characters have an equal chance at success in any area at the start of the game, starting with base 0 in all stats. This may change depending on actions and results. Once created, I'll list your character in the next post. It'll have the character's name, the player name, a brief description and any game effects, in that order. Eg. Bob - KeJoRo - A completely average, nondescript man - +1 to rolls involving trees, minor injury.
6.Optionally, you may add +1 to any one stat grouping you feel your character would excel at but must also have a -1 penalty in another stat grouping you feel they are poor at.

Grassy Field

You wake up in a field with no idea how you got there or where you are. The sun shines pleasantly above you and there is a very mild wind.

(So do we make character's first for this sort of thing? Or is it a free-for-all kind of thing? It sounds awesome. biggrin )

(Will this work? He's just more or less dexterous, with less strength than the average man. So he usually jumps around everywhere and hides.)

(Normally, I'd say no since the basic rules say you should always start with 0 in any and all stats, but I'll allow it. In fact, new house rule, you can have either starting stats all 0 or starting stats 1 group +1 and 1 group -1. I like that idea. You'll gain stats as I see fit across the game. Generally speaking, if you roll a 5 and the action is either training or especially cool, it'll be a permanent +1 to rolls involving that. Unless you guys want it, I'm going to say you can never pick up permanent penalties.)

(Ah-haa. Then I read that rule incorrectly. My bad. XP I figured it'd be a base 0, but with your example you provided, you had a bonus in it, so it was a tad confusing. : P Also, depending on the character and whatever the penalty is related to, and how hilarious it would be in the long run, I'd be fine with whatever. XD)

(I know exactly what I'm effing doing first. >u>)

Aaron tumbled into the grassy plains on a fine morning, and attempted to hide among the tall grasses.

Anita was using a knife to cut some of the long blades of grass, gathering them up to weave something later.

Aaron...Success!

Steffychan19
...attempted to hide among the tall grasses.

Aaron, being careful to avoid people (and possibly find wild pokémon, who knows?) dove into the tall grass mere moments after waking up.

(Whoops, yeah, having re-read it, I didn't make it very clear. Yeah, I intended that to show you that you could gain stat mods and that that's what it would look like when applied to your character. I'll edit it, but I'll keep in the house rule.)

Anita...Perfect Success!

PhantomJavon
Anita was using a knife to cut some of the long blades of grass, gathering them up to weave something later.

Upon waking up, Anita realised above all that she required resources if she was to survive...wherever it was she was. At the very least it couldn't hurt to be prepared. She used her small utility knife to cut some particularly choice blades of grass, using her brilliant mind to quickly deduce what was good and what wasn't. Gained bundle of grass! +1 to next roll used to turn the bundle of grass into something useful!

"Huh, a big field, eh? Let's see..." Aaron mumbled, as he started looking through the grass for any flowers or wild strawberries.

Aaron...Overshoot!

Steffychan19
...started looking through the grass for any flowers or wild strawberries.

Aaron, suddenly deciding that resource gathering was vastly more important than staying hidden, burst from his hiding place. He rose upwards into the air, taking plant life with him as he went.

While he had indeed revealed a small cache of wild strawberries, hidden beneath his original hiding place, from the ground he appeared to be a vengeful nature spirit rearing back to attack.

Anita looked around the area, then pouched her grass samples and proceeded to search the area for others and other resources.

(Don't worry about it, we all have lives. Also, the +1 was to the roll you use to make something with your grass bundle, so luckily, you don't overshoot smile )

The area didn't have much in the way of resources, being a large empty field, but Anita did find some wild herbs and other, similar plants that could be useful in alchemy or cooking. Just as she was about to look for people, a vengeful nature spirit burst from the tall grass nearby! At least, that's what a lesser focussed person would have thought. The highly observant Anita merely noticed it was the over-eager attempt by Aaron to search for resources. Anita made a small smile at keeping cool despite the surprise. +1 to next roll!
