I'm representing the user-run event, The HeartBreak Cafe. We typically schedule two events a year. One around Valentine's Day, and the other around Halloween. Here is our most recent event thread if you want an idea of how it works. The HeartBreak Cafe's basic set up is as a maid/butler cafe. Our event is unique because up to 13 people can apply to be hosts where they lead their own separate contests or art freebies or after dark or whatever! We also offer a chance to role play being at a cafe, and typically have some kind of theme.
Our Halloween Event Thread will likely be scheduled for October 15th-31st. Obviously, this will overlap with Gaia's Halloween event. We typically set up in the Gaia Community Projects forum, then ask to be moved to the Halloween Forum when it opens!
We are in very early in planning stages right now, but I figured it would probably be wise to go ahead and shoot you an email now! Here is our guild, but we usually do the planning in the GCP forum to open it up to anyone who might want to help (our most recent planning thread as an example).
As far as Gaia support, we would definitely like a Gaia Blog post at the very least and an official announcement if at all possible!
In the past, we have gotten freebie items for our event. To be fair, these were entirely created because former staff artist Finni loved HBC! It would be SOOOOOOOO awesome if we could get a freebie item again! Maybe a Halloween recolor of HeartBreak Cafe Apparel. Not a requirement of course! But, golly gee willikers, it sure would be awesome!
We would take goldsink fundraising help if you offered it, but we would need it to be done a little early on so I could get the items purchased and traded out to all the separate hosts. I heard NPCon had a difficult time last year, because they did not have a lot of time between the end of the kickstarter and the beginning of the event to hand out all the prizes to the thread leaders. We would probably want 3-5 days time or so to get that figured out! Of course, I understand if you wouldn't want to do a kickstarter for us because it's so close to Halloween, and maybe you want to do some kind of Halloween event goldsink!
