This is a place where anyone can ask questions and have them answered. The guild mods will check this thread regularly and answer them all to the best of their ability. No matter what kind of question you have, (RP help, Pokémon questions, item questions) we will do our best to answer it promptly. Below is a list of frequently asked questions, and their answers. Please take a moment to look over this list before asking your question, as it may have already come up.

Frequently Asked Questions

Question: What are the restrictions on shiny Pokémon? And do shiny Pokémon have to be the same as in the games, or can they be any color?

Answer: Shiny Pokémon are supposed to be extremely rare, to the point where you only see them maybe once in your life. To that point, every trainer is allowed to encounter and capture ONE shiny Pokémon of their choice. And yes, they are the same alternate color as in the video games.

Question: How do levels work in this guild?

Answer: As this guild is non stat based, there are no levels in this guild. Battle strength is determined by RP skill and experience. Think of it like the anime, where all Pokémon can fight against each other roughly on par. Levels are only relevant in terms of getting your Pokémon to evolve. If that's the information you're looking for, you can find it here in the Trainer School in the thread titled: Starter Pokémon & Pokémon in General Information

Question: Is it possible to have a different starter Pokémon if it has something to do with your trainer's back story?

Answer: Yes, it is! In order to make things easier to manage and keep things fair, we only allow people to start with the starter Pokémon provided by the Pokémon Labs. You ARE however, allowed any one Pokémon of your choice to start with before reaching the labs. Basically, you kinda get two Pokémon to start with. One from your backstory, and one from the labs.

Question: Do we HAVE to start in the RP as a starter trainer with their first Pokémon or can we start as a slightly more established trainer, with no badges but maybe one or two evolved Pokémon?

Answer: No, you can't. Everybody starts from the same point, with no badges or Pokémon.

Question: Are we allowed to have our trainers be from somewhere other than Kimchi?

Answer: Your trainer can be from a foreign region like Kanto or Johto, but not from a made up region. You also can't bring any items or Pokémon with you from said region either. If you follow those rules, then you can be from any region you'd like.

Question: Are the move limits for every Pokémon, or just your starter?

Answer: The move limits apply to all Pokémon. Every Pokémon you catch or obtain, in addition to its naturally learned moves, can have one Egg move that doesn't exceed 100 base power, as well as up to three TM or Move Tutor moves depending on what stage of evolution it's at.

Question: Can you be two classes at once? As in being a trainer and a breeder at the same time?

Answer: Yes, you can. Your trainer is not restricted in any way as to what they may or may not participate in.

Question: What happens if a Pokémon has more than one ability? Do they have both, or do we have to pick?

Answer: If a Pokémon has multiple abilities, then you may RP them having both.

Question: Can we have our trainers be psychic or something in order to understand and communicate with our Pokémon?

Answer: No. All trainers need to develop the bond between them and their Pokémon the old fashioned way. That being said, their ARE a select few Pokémon that are capable of communicating with humans, such as Lapras, Ninetales, and Lucario. It's usually included in their Pokédex description, so I would suggest looking at Serebii.net or Bulbapedia for more information.

Question: Can you have Poké Balls like in the manga that have the see through top, or are they like the ones in the anime?

Answer: This guild was based off of the manga, so yes. Any Poké Ball can be RPed with having a see through top. For the other ones that have colored tops, such as the Great Ball and Ultra Ball, they're tinted lenses still capable of being seen through.

Question: Can we be related to, or have our character personally know any characters from the games, anime, or manga?

Answer: No, you cannot. As this guild has a separate time line and is not directly related to the games/manga/anime, you are not allowed to have any relations to the canon characters. That being said, if you know OF them but not know them personally, then it's acceptable. For example, you can't be the long lost son of the Pokémon Champion Lance, but you can have heard of him and idolize him or something along those lines.

Question: How do the Pledge attacks work? Are they for double battles only?

Answer: The Pledge attacks can be used in any kind of battle, but are at their best when combined with other Pledge attacks, so they're really good for double battles. However, they are still perfectly good for single battles. AND they don't take up a move slot, so it's really just a free bonus!

Regarding Abilities, what about Battle Bond? Is that something anyone with a Greninja can use or are there requirements? i.e. Max Friendship

To answer your question Tsuki, Greninja's Battle Bond ability is considered on the same level as mega evolution in the guild. If you have a Greninja, then it can be accessed once you have maxed out your affection with that Pokemon. Refer to Pokemon Affection System to know what you need to do to unlock this ability.

Laram, first, thank you for trying to help. We appreciate the effort. But please, in the future, refrain from answering guild related questions to other members. We appreciate all of the work you did in the guild in the past, but you aren't a moderator anymore. Just a friendly reminder.

Tsuki, he is correct. Battle Bond can be utilized by any trainer that has a Greninja with max affection. We will make sure to update the trainer school with this information. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Hi! I joined the re-joined the guild after being away from Gaia for a while and I have a couple of questions. Everything is so different, I love it!

1. I can't find Drampa or Turtonator on the map anywhere. Is it okay to have one of them as my partner Pokemon?

2. Egg posts are 65 posts but doesn't it go up if I want to have a Dratini, Horsea or Gible? How many posts would that have to be to hatch them?

3. If I wanted to get a Sylveon, how could I do that? I don't really understand how it works in relation to evolving to get Sylveon. Is it possible to start with one as a partner Pokemon or does it have to start as an Eevee?

4. On the HMs, if I were to start with a water Pokemon like Oshawott or Totodile, does that mean I could hypothetically access the Open Oceans from the get go?

Thank you for the help in advance. Sorry to be a nuisance >.<

First of all, welcome to the guild. Now, let's answer your questions in order.

1) If I recall, both of those are located in the Den of Dragons on Mt. Snicket. If they are not, that is where they will be. Also no, both of those Pokémon are at least great ball level and cannot be controlled by a novice trainer.

2) Eggs are 65 posts to hatch. Period.

3)Sylveon is an affection based evolution. You will have to raise an Eevee to max affection to obtain a Sylveon. You can look here to see how to do this. You cannot start with a Sylveon as your partner, but you can have an Eevee. You can also train with a move tutor to get Eevee or make Eevee your free egg.

4) No, not really. In the guild, to "ride" a Pokémon, like using surf or fly, it must be able to believeably hold the trainer's weight for long periods of time. So while they have access to surf, it cannot be used in that way until they are big enough.

Hope this helps. If you are having trouble picking your "original Pokémon" the general rule is first forms only, and if it doesn't have an evolution, regular pokeball level. Good luck, have fun!

Thank you vm!

1, 2 & 4. Ok.

3. Okay, I'll try to figure it out. It just doesn't make sense to me >.< So I have to get Eevee to Stage 5 Affection to evolve her? Has anyone else done it before? It seems like it takes longer than regular evolution if you only get 1-10 points from missions and random things in different routes but I think I just may be missing the main thing to do for it.

5. Next question is regarding Alolan Raichu. If I were to catch a Pikachu on route 7 and evolve it with a thunderstone can I choose which forms it evolves in to??

Hi Garnet! Sorry it took so long to get back to you, let me answer your questions!

We're currently working on updating the restaurants as well as a few other features to make affection easier for everyone to achieve. These should hopefully be implemented this week, so please keep your eyes peeled for them!

As for Alolan Raichu, it can be evolved from any Pikachu you catch through the Thunderstone. However, it MUST be evolved on Mt. Snicket if you want to evolve it into its Alolan evolution specifically.

Let us know if there's anything else we can clear up for you.

Hello, I'm new to the guild. I've been reading some of the questions, and while I do understand them, I have one of my own.

It was mentioned that trainers must bond with their Pokemon the old-fashioned way, and I have no issues doing that. However, is it possible for trainers to develop psychic or aura abilities during the RP? If the answer is no, that's perfectly fine, I'm just asking more out of curiosity than anything else. Also, if a Pokemon has Telepathy as an ability, would it be able to communicate telepathically?

Psychic abilities are definitely a no, though aura might be on the table if you're willing to do a PRP or something to earn it. As for telepathic Pokémon, any Pokémon stated in the Pokédex, anime or manga to be capable of communicating with humans is able to do so in the guild. I suggest checking Bulbapedia to see if a Pokémon you want to communicate with can actually do so.

Alright, thanks for taking the time to answer my questions. I'll definitely take a look to see what Pokemon are able to communicate with people.

That's entirely up to you. Most people in the past ranged on average between 16 and 21.
